Episode 10: Sandy Diaz, founder of Badass ladies of DFW & StudioHop member on How Fitness Helps Her Thrive with MS
Episode 10 is a very inspiring one! I interview Sandy Diaz Haley, who happens to be someone I worked with during a college internship and we reconnected a few years ago. Sandy has always been one of those energetic, hilarious, full-of-life people. Someone who’s fun to be around. Sandy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2014. Her diagnosis came after years of ignoring strange symptoms that ultimately lead to struggling to walk on her wedding day. Although she has had some major lows, she has come out victorious with this disease. She walks us through what it’s like to have MS, how she was diagnosed and how fitness has helped her manage her symptoms. Today, she is a healthy, active and proud advocate for the disease that once made her think she would never live a normal life again. Sandy really says it best: “There's so much we can't control in life BUT what we can control is our reaction to the hurdles life throws at us. These life experiences and how we let them impact our lives, make up who we are. MS does not define me, it makes me work harder and for that, I'm beyond grateful.” Where to find Sandy / Bada$$ Ladies of DFW: Her IG: @badassladiesnetwork Her FB: Sandy Diaz Haley Bada$$ Ladies website: https://www.badassladies.com/ Other resources we mention in this episode: News segment on Univision News segment on Fox News about how getting active has really helped her disease outlook and overall health Blog post about the importance of exercising featuring Sandy (This episode was sponsored by MiniLuxe. Episode 9: Brittany Grignon, founder and operating owner of Session Pilates on going from zero to (soon) four studios in 4 years in saturated Dallas
“The hardest thing about growing is relinquishing control. Things are going to happen without you being the first line of defense, so you have to set up the team to be able to handle it. It's all about the systems.” -Brittany Grignon, founder & operating owner of Session Pilates In Episode 9, I sit down with Brittany Grignon, founder and operating owner of Session Pilates based in Dallas, Texas. We talk about how exactly she got Session Pilates opened,  how she optimizes revenue and creates high demand with just 15 reformers in each location and a little bit about her marketing plan. Episode 6: Dr. Denisa Weber, chiropractor & founder of Serving Life Chiropractic
Episode 6 is a one-on-one with Dr. Denisa Weber, chiropractor and founder of Serving Life Chiropractic. She’s a ray of sunshine ☀️ , a deep fresh breath of air and she has SO much wisdom that this episode was tough to stop at the 50 min mark. She was a gymnast, an exercise physiologist specializing in cardiac, a doula, a chiropractor, a mom of 2, a wife, and she’s even launched another business to be a resource for other chiropractors with online courses and frequently speaks around the country. So basically Dr. Weber is a badass. She’s a "shoot you straight" Texan, who champions for her coach husband, their two rambunctious littles and the chiropractic profession. Lover of simplification, communication and authenticity, Dr. Weber channels this towards chiropractic in a beautiful way. Her mission: Equip. Encourage. Empower. Get ready to learn a lot about what chiropractors really do for our bodies, why it’s important, what “health” really is and what we can do to explore our full potential, her personal arsenal of supplements & more. Episode 5: Cristin Caulfield, Owner of Caulfield's Dance Fitness On Opening Your Own Fitness Studio
I had the pleasure of getting to chat with none other than Lil Crispy, aka Cristin Caulfield, owner of Caulfield’s Dance Fitness in Dallas, Texas. She just opened less than 3 months ago, but she is no newbie to the fitness scene here. She started at Flywheel, then went on to teach at Zyn22 where she developed her own barre/sculpt program. From there she made the leap and started her own dance fitness studio. She’s been a dancer for life and she shares a fun fact about a certain celeb she did some choreography for. Cristin is real, raw, funny and super cute— you’ll love hearing from her and her honest feedback and advice on what it has taken her to get her studio up and running including how she found her location, how she found her funding, instructors and more. I love nothing more than lists, and these ones are super fun lists. I go over 2019 wellness predictions from MindBodyGreen and whether I think those predictions were on point or not. The second half of episode 4 I walk you through Well + Good's 2020 predictions. If you’re interested in what the health and wellness world has to offer and might be offering in the near future, you won’t want to miss this episode. The new CBD oil, the most popular workout, how your skincare is being made, the importance of brain health, pesticide-free vino and alt-fish? Yep.
