The season is finally over with the Jets closing the season out with a loss to the Buffalo Bills. The defense kept it close for 75% of the game but could not overcome a depleted offense. This past week in a surprise to every football fan I know, the Jets almost pulled off the impossible upset against the Bucs. Barring the outcome, this was a great game for many reasons. And one that should continue to give the fans hope for the future. The entire group breaks down the game as well as individual players. We discuss who was most impressive this week and why. The Jets put up a league high 273 yards rushing against the Jaguars en route to their 4th victory. They were led by rookie Michael Carter who put up 118 and QB Zach Wilson, who had a dynamic 52 yard TD run to go along with a passing TD. That win was a total team effort and one to be proud of. In this episode we talked about Zachs progress as well as that of the other rookies in this class. I also give my take on why this 2021 class will make us forget about the 2020 class. I also talk about how Joe Ds drafts and tenure have been better in totality than people give credit for. This week we kicked things off discussing the inevitable and well deserved firing of Urban Meyer. And we then discussed the performance of some of the other rookie coaches, along with Coach Saleh. The defense once again got torched and Zach continued his up and down play. There was also a Denzel Mims sighting...and it wasn't good. This week the Jets will face a surging Miami Dolphins team who has been ravaged by covid in their running back room. The Jets are also getting back Michael Carter and Bryce Huff...hopefully they help improve their respective units. The Jets lost in what ended up being a one sided affair versus Philly. Backup QB Gardner Minshew lit us up as well as RB Miles Sanders. The defense put up yet another embarrassing performance with the lowlights being the opening second half drive which almost took up the entire 3rd quarter. All that aside, there were some bright spots. Zach showed improvement and had a first half good enough to Gardner him Pepsi ROTW for the second time this year. Elijah Moore looked like he is our number 1 WR moving forward. LDT put up yet another strong performance at RG, before getting hurt, and shows me they should attempt to bring him back. Berrios showed us again that he is valuable and should be brought back. We also discussed the emergence of George Fant and the possible scenarios next season with Becton returning. Zach comes back after a 4 game absence and gets the ugly win. This was a great win because the team showed fight and heart in the 2nd half. There were some impressive performances on both sides of the ball..most notably JFM who is showing he will be worth every penny. We also had work being done by both Quincy and Quinnen. I was also impressed by the interior of the o line showing how dominant it can be...I was at this game and talked about all I saw and the awesome way the Jets fans showed up and represented. This episode is all about the Jets stunning victory over the Bengals. This game was horrible. It was honestly worse than what we saw versus New England. The offense and the offensive line seemed to have regressed even more. There were egregious penalties, sloppy play and play calling, and just a downright letdown from start to finish. But there was a small amount of good. Quinnen showed up in game three like we said he would and Michael Carter II is showing to be a very good young cornerback. With Elijah Moore going down with a concussion, we saw the offense take another hit with injury. Hopefully he will be back sooner rather than later.  This game was definitely one to forget and hopefully the team takes head to what Q said in his postgame interview and learn from their mistakes and comeback better. This episode is centered around the Green and White scrimmage game, the first official depth chart, and this season's first episode of One Jets Drive. We start things off with Around the NFL talking about the massive contract Josh Allen received and who will be up next. Training camp is in full swing and the pads are on. We are starting to see guys get more acclimated and coming into their own. This episode we get into the upcoming deadline to sign Marcus Maye to an extension or he will be playing under the tag. We are all in agreement that they should indeed resign him, though we differ on the how much...but not by much. We also discuss how important his signing would be to the overall foundation and culture that the team is creating.  Staying with contracts and culture, we discuss two guys we think the Jets should attempt to resign right now before the season starts and they blow up. Foley Fatukasi and JFM should both have great seasons this year and if they hit the market, they will be gone. In this episode we discuss the June 15-17 mandatory mini that took place and where we think the team will go moving forward. Continuing our OTA camp conversations, we talk about all the things that took place this past week or so. Zach Wilson continues to impress with his passing abilities and work ethic. Elijah Moore continues to impress with his playmaker capabilities. And Keelan Cole, Denzel Mims and Braxton Berrios shows we have capable depth. The defensive front is working it's way into form being led by Carl Lawson whom, Saleh and Ulbrich absolutely love. This episode we start things off talking about roster moves of the past week. The Jets signed former 49er Ronald Blair to the squad as a solid rotational piece who can play both end and interior. They also brought in former WFT tackle Morgan Moses on a visit. How would he fit in the scheme? And if signed, how does that affect George Fant? We then move into the going ons of this week's OTAs. Zach has shown his ability to throw the ball quite well in both 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 drills. Michael Carter has shown his ability to catch the ball well.
