Episode #1: How to Launch Your Own House System

Episode #1: How to Launch Your Own House System

Why should you consider launching a House System in your school? Well, think about the things you’d like to change in your school.

You’d like to spend more time recognizing positive student behavior. You want less of your time tied up dealing with discipline. You want your students to be engaged and you’d like to find ways to make your building a happier place for teachers to teach.

That may sound like asking for the moon…but one program can accomplish all of those things: House Systems.

A House System is a behavior strategy where students are divided into teams called Houses. The students within each House work together to earn points, support each other, and compete against other Houses. Yep, just like Hogwarts but with fewer wizards and significantly less quidditch.

Today's episode is dedicated to getting you from idea to system launch as quickly (and smoothly) as possible. We boiled down the entire process into 6 easy-to-follow steps and 4 key components. No sorting hat necessary.

Season 1. Episode #17 Spotlighting the Greatness in Your School with Todd Nesloney

It’s easy to get in the mindset that what you’re doing is normal or routine. But if you start thinking like that it’s easy to lose sight of the greatness happening all around you.

If you’re a leader it’s also easy to lose the great people around you if you don’t get in the habit of celebrating those who are doing great things for the students in your school.

Todd Nesloney (@techninjatodd) joined us today on the show to chat with Jordan about how you can start spotlighting the greatness in your school.

Todd and Jordan went in-depth on school leadership, recruiting staff, teaching without assigning homework, and why we need to take the lesson planning obligations off our teacher’s plates.
