March 26 2024- Nahanni Fontaine's March Madness

March 26 2024- Nahanni Fontaine's March Madness

Shuttering foster and group homes, parading like a fashionista at the United Nations, holding court for a compliant media after dodging opposition criticism in Question Period - it's a wonder Nahanni Fontaine has found time to get her nails done this month.

But the Manitoba Families Minister has set tongues wagging after whining about how her BFF, police chief Danny Smyth, correctly laid the blame at her feet for kids in the care of her department behind a wave of slashing, robbing and mugging innocent people in Winnipeg.

Part 1- The matriarch of the radical NDP caucus, Nahanni Fontaine has darted in and out of the headlines in March. The MSM has avoided assessing her race-baiting history, narcissistic self-promotion, and selective moral outrage.

In Episode 30, we tie it all into her handling of the Spirit Rising House foster care contracts for 13 facilities, and her drive-by smear of the police chief's concerns about violent youths.

9.00- While the Children's Advocate criticized Spirit Rising for providing pot to kids to keep them away from seeking drugs on the street, she added there's no harm reduction strategy for kids in care, "a systemic failure that will lead to continued long-term harm for children and youth across the province."

Despite only 2 of the homes being implicated in the practice, Fontaine decided to order that over 30 kids be pulled from all the homes.

13.05- Parents blasted Fontaine and the NDP for thinking it's ok to hand out drug use kits for meth addicts as "harm reduction" - but dropping the hammer over cannabis.

“It’s saving my daughter’s life and keeping her away from the harder street drugs she was addicted to. I don’t have any problem with that... They took her to AA meetings, they did everything — they’re teachers, they’re parents where the parents aren’t, they’re therapists.”

We examine if Fontaine's agenda to throttle services that save the lives of Level 5 kids is to undermine the owners.

18.00 - Right after Fontaine took an entourage on her role-playing eastern tour, Danny Smyth told the press about terrifying attacks across the city with a common denominator- perps that are wards of Fontaine's department.

He said "attention needs to be addressed to the needs of these kids that are in the system." Then, Fontaine came back, obviously flustered.

25:20 Part 2- "Heads-up would’ve been nice, Fontaine says of chief" wrote the Free Press. And when the Tories blasted her "jet-setting" and social media obsession in Question Period, "Fontaine didn’t respond to their questions but agreed to a media interview in her office."

She sneered about “pockets” of violent incidents, denied any failure, and expressed no remorse for the traumatized victims of these thugs. Not even for the women.

But as you'll hear, Fontaine has a history of picking and choosing which victims she'd help- and if their oppressors were her allies, they'd be talking to the hand. Did she stand by as Aboriginal Women's Advisor when the NDP diverted federal benefits for kids in care, or did she raise her voice?

  • We're within $1300 of our $3800 fundraising goal- help push us over the line at our Donate page - it's easier than ever to make a contribution!

39.30- After claiming Smyth's remarks could fuel anti-indigenous racism, Fontaine raised eyebrows with a comment about Smyth having her personal cel number.

While Premier Kinew called her an "inspiration", a rally at the Legislature by kids being forced to move before Easter after thriving with Spirit Rising House foster parents and guardians, had a different view of Fontaine's edict.

Marty Gold reviews past occasions, such as when staff and clients from the Native Women's Transition Centre begged Fontaine for help dealing with a well-connected director engineering a toxic workplace, and Fontaine refused to stand with those in need.

She gets no real analysis or criticism from the Winnipeg media, but those that deal with Nahanni Fontaine have learned she's no inspiration.

Mar 21 2024- Allard's Failure May Be Fatal For Happyland Park

Mar 21 2024- Allard's Failure May Be Fatal For Happyland Park

The wholesale destruction of the Archwood and Dufresne neighborhoods in St Boniface - the small residential communities north and south of Happyland Park - by a proposed Marion Freeway was averted in 2015/16.

So instead, city bureaucrats have resorted to a new tactic - incremental erosion of the area through budget cuts, even while the City trumpets the massive infill development at the Canada Packers site across Archibald.

In Episode 29 you'll hear about the devastating and cruel decision to demolish the outdoor pool at Happyland Park, despite support for the neighborhood from the Manitoba Metis Federation and the infill project leader.

Marty Gold tells about the pleas of residents, who even offered to raise the $82,000 cost to keep the pool open.

The concept of a new aquatic centre near Provencher Blvd. far from Happyland Park means one thing - no relief in the summer for the poor and working class losing their pool, because it will require paying to get in.

As a councilor wrote, "The Mayor has provided each of the fifteen councillors with a piece of his approximately 1.27% operating property tax increase, but it is chump change if one wants to provide children with pleasurable experiences."

We put the failure of St. Boniface Councilor Matt Allard to save the pool under the microscope. Under his watch, and his extremist focus on "climate change" and bike lanes instead of real issues affecting residents and businesses, the Marion-Goulet corridor continues to decline into becoming the North End of the South End.

City Council chose to undermine the biggest reason families use Happyland Park. It appears to be part of a larger plan to kill the park, and force out the working class and seniors- and as one resident told us it's “Creating a city people aren’t going to want to stay in.”

27:33 Part 2 - We review the fiery comments from Transcona Coun. Russ Wyatt after Wednesday's vote, where he decried "a mean-spirited budget, with attacks on working families and their neighborhoods."

"Had we not made the investment in Transcona by building the Transcona Aquatic Park, they would have tried to close that former old outdoor pool too, but now it’s just too popular thanks to the reinvestment."

Hearkening to a prior era when "we had at City Hall strong City Councilors", Wyatt also took a shot at the current crop including Allard:

"Former Councillors would have stood up and fought for their communities, instead of the group we have today who rolled over today in the face of the cuts being made in the budget and to their communities."

We also have some insight from Mynarski Coun. Ross Eadie about the trade-offs councilors have to make with pools, splash pads, and being outside of the controlling bloc at council.

Episode 29 concludes with interesting feedback to our analysis of Wab Kinew's Gaza Gambit, and a renewed push for our fundraising drive as we pass the halfway point. $1800 is still needed to meet our costs.

Marty Gold is committed to investigating and reporting on the serious concerns in our neighborhoods, bringing the stories MSM can't or won't forward to ActionLine.ca and forcing those issues onto the civic and provincial political agenda. In that way, we earn your support.

Mar 18 2024- Will Gillingham Pump The Brakes On Portage and Main?

Mar 18 2024- Will Gillingham Pump The Brakes On Portage and Main?

We open Episode 28 with an update on our fundraising drive as we go into the home stretch – $2000 to go! - then have listener feedback and a Peter Warren razzberry for the slow-moving CBC Manitoba.

- An email about downtown safety from a listener who is one of the 10% that thinks they are still safe at night in a dangerous downtown Winnipeg... but adds “Who wants to be in a situation where you're confronted by several youth wielding machetes, bear spray and/or brass knuckles? At that point it isn't a street fight, it's life or death combat.”

He added a few comments about the weak police chief and the Children’s Advocate, “who blames society for these kids' violence while at the same time depicts them as victims of society.”

- Two weeks late, CBC discovers Bell MTS Is forcing exodus from Brandon!

We explain what little the high paid "professional journalists” added in the 18 extra days they had to cover the story since we broke the news to the public, and what key details they missed. Why didn't CBC mention the extensive contracting out overseas while rural jobs are chopped? We’ll have more about the Bell MTS layoffs in an upcoming episode.

This work is entirely funded by YOUR support. Check out our Donate page - it's easier than ever to make a contribution and help us continue to serve the public.

19:22 Part 2- After a personal note from former CBC mainstay Judy Waytiuk, we took a closer look at the emerging opposition to the proposed Portage and Main concourse closure- as we predicted.

"In the concourse there is an iconic, 415 foot long sculpted concrete wall by Bruce Head (her late husband.) City engineers will almost certainly find it cannot be saved and moved; it is an integral part of the load-bearing structural wall that runs all the way around the concourse interior."

And that's not all. The veteran journalist examined the "fuzzy numbers" used by Mayor Scott Gillingham to justify the 'savings' an underground closure brings and asked a smart question:

"If, as the mayor suggested after some outcry, mostly from this furious widow, somebody figures out how the artwork could be moved elsewhere, what would that cost? Carve out 415 feet of 12 foot tall concrete pieces, hoist them up, cart them off someplace, and ... well, I’m no engineer, but that sounds like a huge multi-million dollar feat to try to pull off. The whole close the concourse/move the art thing, would very likely match or even exceed the cost of repairs."

As she explains, at no point did any of the reports City Hall is relying on even contemplate closing the concourse, or removing the 52 concrete panels which Waytiuk maintains are also part of the load-bearing intersection support. And speaking of support:

"Out there in the media, I may look like what CBC news insultingly referred to the other day as "one woman". I'm not just "one woman".

32:08 Part 3- "Building owners stunned by Portage and Main underground closure proposal", wrote the Free Press.

The Building Owners and Managers Association of Manitoba warned councilors to “carefully consider the ramifications” of shuttering underground access.

Tom Thiessen of BOMA noted the misinformation campaign around the projected $73M cost as only $29M is pegged to repair of the waterproofing membrane and the rest are costs the City would likely incur anyways for above-ground work. Most importantly, he skewered the administration for not setting aside money for repairs in the Brian Bowman days. Why plan ahead?

Thiessen also raised the effect on property valuations for nearby stakeholders if indoor passage across the corners is removed.

With the MMF claiming that their heritage centre at the Bank of Montreal building will host 1 million visitors, Marty Gold wonders how it makes sense to add that kind of volume to the corners while blocking access to a weather-protected concourse.

Mar 16 2024- Wab Kinew’s Gaza Gambit

Mar 16 2024- Wab Kinew’s Gaza Gambit

The controversial war resulting from the terror attack on Israeli settlements by Hamas on October 7th has affected almost every sphere of society from domestic politics to academia to entertainment.

In Episode 27, we look those affects with examples from the macrocosm - the Oscars and the Trudeau Liberal's foreign policy - and then the microcosm, after Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew attempted to play both sides.

A rebuke from a former Winnipegger in Israel exposed his shallow understanding of the war to eradicate Hamas, and of antisemitism.

Part 1- You'll hear about what happened in Hollywood: ‘Zone of Interest’ Executive Producer Danny Cohen Refutes Director Jonathan Glazer’s Oscar Speech: ‘I Just Fundamentally Disagree’

“The war and the continuation of the war is the responsibility of Hamas, a genocidal terrorist organization which continues to hold and abuse the hostages, which doesn’t use its tunnels to protect the innocent civilians of Gaza but uses it to hide themselves and allow Palestinians to die. I think the war is tragic and awful and the loss of civilian life is awful, but I blame Hamas for that."

9.00 - National Post: Mélanie Joly visits Israel only to trivialize Hamas's sexual violence

After restoring funding to the Hamas front group UNRWA, Joly announced equal funding to both Israeli and alleged Palestinian victims of sexual violence. Then, accompanied by Minister of mental health and addiction Ya'ara Saks, they struck a collegial pose with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas - a Holocaust and October 7 atrocity denier who makes hefty 'Martyr' payments to the families of terrorists that murdered Jews.

Israel’s Special Envoy for Combatting Antisemitism, former Montrealer Michal Cotler-Wunsh, "slammed the Canadian foreign minister for perpetuating a “false moral equivalence” between Hamas’s coordinated use of sexual torture on Oct. 7 and allegations of sexual misconduct levied against individual Israelis."

“Canadian tax (dollars) supporting blood libel inversion of fact (and) law.”

"Why is Joly insistent on “all lives matter-ing” the organized sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas against Israeli women and girls?" asked Rahim Mohamed. "(It's) an affront to reality."

The 'why' is a political calculation that Joe Roberts described:

"Justin Trudeau’s legacy will be the abandonment of our allies—leaving a Canada that cannot answer the call of NATO, but happily answers the call of the antisemitic mob. Shameful."

18:33 Part 2 - We dissect Wab KInew's ceasefire call- a gambit to assure the Jewish community he's an ally, while at the same time asserting Muslims are victims of Israel having "little regard for civilians."

Ignoring facts on the ground that disprove his concept of how war against Islamists and their supporters is waged and why there's a "famine" in Gaza, you'll hear how Kinew is playing the human rights card to placate the antisemites in the NDP and the pro-Hamas protest mob leaders, revealing "a tremendous amount of ignorance and naivety."

43:41 Part 3 - Marty Gold reads the response from a former classmate who lives in Southern Israel to Kinew's misguided and misinformed statement.

Hear how combat to eliminate terrorists is taking place door-to-door, with support for Hamas and Hitler found inside those homes.

Instead of Kinew comprehending that like the Nazis, Hamas must totally surrender, "Calling for a ceasefire may be politically correct and an attempt to pander to all constituencies, but it is, in fact, cowardly and morally corrupt. You can do better."

Episode 27 concludes with a look at how Hamas has faked casualty reports "because the daily totals increase too consistently to be real... they assigned about 70% of the total to be women and children, (and) in-filled the number of men as set by the predetermined total."

Mar 14 2024- HSC, Forks and Bus Mayhem / Matt Allard's Pool Politics

Mar 14 2024- HSC, Forks and Bus Mayhem / Matt Allard's Pool Politics

To kick-off Episode 26, an update on our winter campaign! Please help us maintain the pace towards the $3800 goal by April 1.

Marty Gold outlines unique upcoming topics - including analyzing Wab Kinew's far-left Gaza gambit - that will continue to earn the support of those seeking a voice and listeners turned off by being force-fed MSM narratives.

13.20 - A brief analysis of the underlying political rivalries behind the budget debate about closing 3 outdoor pools.

Marty cites how the same tactics used a few years ago to demolish his childhood wading pool at Clara Hughes Park were again in play to set up the latest proposed closures. While Mayor Gillingham plays coy, the media lets him off the hook for an administration willing to slash services for poorer neighborhoods.

While Coun. Sherri Rollins signaled she favours saving Winakwa pool (but not Happyland Park), no one in the media is assessing if the residents affected are being rewarded or punished because of the politics between rival councilors.

Matt Allard frantically argued at the Community Services meeting for money to keep those pools open as St. Boniface becomes the North End of the South End.

We ask, are councilors getting back at him for how he lorded over Public Works when he was Chair, and his conduct at Council meetings?

23:20 Part 2 - Crime Courts and Public Safety Update

- You'll hear about a violent March 5 incident inside HSC, how it relates to a March 7 announcement by NDP Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara, the Manitoba Nurses Union mocking arming new safety officers with "verbal Judo", and a 14 year HSC nurse who fled west after assaults and the "constant threat" of violence at work.

- Also from HSC- a lawsuit over an Emily St. parkade elevator that crashed, severely injuring a doctor.

- What did 4 teens learn after using pepper spray and brass knuckles on security guards at the Forks on March 7? That they don't spend even 24 hours being locked up, even if they were breaching court orders. Listeners offer some opinions.

"How safe does anyone feel going to the Forks which can now be designated a high crime zone."

- Transit safety officers needed police back-up after pulling a goon off a bus at Main Street near Portage during rush hour on March 9. Is there any public place in Winnipeg that's safe anymore? Someone should ask Dr. Joss Reimer.

38:59 Part 3 - The more we dig into the safety survey numbers, the worse police chief Danny Smyth looks.

Listen to how truly awful the state of public safety is, when only 10% of males and 5% of females feel safe downtown at night.

And if you think that's bad, wait till you hear about Smyth and councilors pretending burglars aren't waiting to get their hands on residential water-use data to find out when you aren't home.

Mar 11 2024- Walls To Seal Off Portage And Main Underground

Mar 11 2024- Walls To Seal Off Portage And Main Underground

We lead off Episode 25 with an update on the political decision by Mayor Scott Gillingham to open up the corners of Portage and Main, the cost considerations, and some new information.

Two sources have explained how some of the discussion about what kind of work that might need to be done, has missed the mark. And, we're told, the decision is less influenced by 'Team Open' insiders than by realities beneath the surface.

8.05 - A brief clip from last week's Property Committee meeting with Coun. Russ Wyatt sparring with chair Coun. Sherri Rollins. Wyatt stated the P & M issue is symptomatic of a failing city hurtling toward the level of a certain U.S. city that will sound familiar to regular listeners.

13.00 - Armed with physical copies of the report and studies City Hall is reviewing, one aspect leapt out at Marty Gold- the rising water table downtown. Hear him explain why it's significant, what factors aren't.

  • To send story tips & comments, and to contribute support via Interac- Email martygoldlive@gmail.com

Although the average person pictures this proposal as a massive fill-in project, that's not what's going to be done to end pedestrian access. There's other utility infrastructure underground that has to be preserved and maintained because it simply can't be moved.

There's still lots not-to-like about the rushed process, and not-to-trust about the consultant's reports- especially for the folks in St. Boniface where we continue to be treated like the North End of the South End.

22:39 Part 2 - We have more information about civic issues we've been covering.

- Hear more about the $200M capital bond issued by the City, and the information we've asked city officials for that should have been provided off the top of their heads.

- The budget arguments launched against the proposed closure of outdoor pools in St. B - including from a major developer- reveal a skew against poorer neighborhoods and a deceptive reporting practice by city staff. They covered up how a fake 'lifeguard shortage' suppressed pool user numbers, then proposed the pools could be demolished and not replaced.

- The cone of silence is still being kept over a bike lane plan in the West End.

41:45 Part 3- Crime and Public Safety Update

The 2024 Winnipeg Police Service Citizen Survey of 600 respondents, released at last week's Winnipeg Police Board meeting, proves the Board should have canned Danny Smyth instead of just letting him serve until his planned retirement.

How low did the "I feel safe downtown" number go? Even we were shocked.

Only nine per cent - 9% - felt "safe or reasonably safe" walking alone downtown at night.

We go through the year-by-year decline. The police chief refused to fight crime and tried to be a social worker, and the result is why downtown is in a total collapse.

When apologists claim fears about downtown safety has nothing to do with below-target Jets attendance, ask them about the survey results.

COMING UP- MORE ON BELL MTS LAYOFFS, HOW WAB KINEW'S NDP IS BOTCHING FOSTER CARE, AND ANOTHER 911 RESPONSE FAILURE.

Mar 7 2024- Jew-Hate Explodes As Justin Trudeau Stands Down

Mar 7 2024- Jew-Hate Explodes As Justin Trudeau Stands Down

As a result of Justin Trudeau catering to a voter demographic he desperately needs to cling to power, it's become open season on Jews and supporters of Israel across Canada.

In Episode 24, Marty Gold explains scenes from 1930's Germany in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. He warns, it's going to come to Winnipeg too - because our political leaders fear the mobs.

We provide a snapshot of the last week with major incidents of Islamists and far-left radicals intimidating and threatening not only Jewish citizens and institutions - but a Trudeau event with the Italian Prime Minister and a Liberal Party fundraiser, both in Toronto.

Trudeau claimed that pro-Palestine demonstrators were "peaceful protesters" when this started; now they are chanting antisemitic slurs, blood libels like "Gaza is a genocide", and "death to Jews".

A key goal- for Trudeau to resume funding antisemitic front group UNRWA, no matter its support for Hamas and hiding kidnappers. And he caved.

Part 1 - Facts the Winnipeg media don't tell the public, starting with how the January attack on Edmonton City Hall was, as we told Coun. Ross Eadie, a terrorist attack.

Then we have the details about the 'student' groups bragging about stopping Trudeau's reception for Giorgia Meloni and complaining they're being 'vilified' for chasing a cabinet minister and screaming, shoving and spitting at seniors. Trudeau's "anti-Islamophobia" envoy Amira Elghawaby ran cover for the thugs.

Hours later a Thornhill synagogue was targeted with noisy megaphoned chants and retched offensive signs, and the mob made police back off making an arrest for assault.

17.40 What happens when authorities do nothing? We describe the Jew-hating posters promoting an Intifada, plastered in public the next morning- and we have audio of a blockade of a Liberal fundraiser that night and harassment of donors because they "support genocide". A CUPE leader was front and centre in the melee.

The intimidation extended to a Raptors game, where "Free Our Hostages" sweatshirts - advocating for kidnapped Israelis- were deemed too political for a sport that religiously parades BLM and diversity causes.

24:17 Part 2- Intentional intimidation of Jewish residents and facilities in Trudeau's town as police stood down.

We have a round-up of aggressive mob incidents in Montreal at McGill University and at the oldest Synagogue in Canada- where there's a Holocaust museum.

You'll hear the "pro-Palestinian" chants to kill Jews and threats of ethnic cleansing of Israel - did Winnipeg media mention it?

On Wednesday, the urban terrorists targeted yet another synagogue in Toronto. Yet Trudeau's cabinet ministers lied about caring about Jewish safety and defended UNRWA. Marty provides more background on Hamas obstructing and stealing aid, creating the propaganda of "mass starvation" that helps fuel the protests.

41.50- Selina Robinson was a BC cabinet minister in January. Now she's left the party of 'inclusion' and issued a scorching letter citing antisemitic bias and a pro-Hamas slant inside the NDP caucus that has abandoned BC's Jews.

“Where are you when protesters, their faces covered, march through our campuses intimidating young Jewish adults…? Where are you when young Jewish students get trapped in bathrooms? Where are your ideals of [an] inclusive society?”

48:18 Part 3 - The bigger picture is an attempt to normalize slaughter and violence under the banner of "decolonization and liberation."

Marty walks through an analysis by Seth Franzman that describes the Hamas attack on October 7 at the behest of Iran and other nefarious actors "... to reset the entire Middle East and also have global ramifications... asserting that any mass killing by Hamas is acceptable... "

It's "a dry run for genocide basically, to wrap genocidal massacres in the "resistance" agenda...and see if people in the West would accept this."

Is that the Winnipeg and Canada we want? Send this podcast to your political leaders and ask them.

Mar 6 2024- Listeners Question Mayor’s Portage And Main Ploy

Mar 6 2024- Listeners Question Mayor’s Portage And Main Ploy

It's time to reach in to the mailbag- along with online feedback - to tell what the TGCTS audience thinks about what's going on in Winnipeg!

With Mayor Scott Gillingham's abrupt about-face on re-opening the iconic Portage and Main intersection to pedestrian traffic, they have lots of questions and comments in Episode 23.

7:38 Part 2- First, an update on the March fundraising campaign, and how you can contribute to our $3800 goal by using the Donate page on ActionLine.ca.

12.19 - Marty Gold tells of a fluke discovery of a Portage and Main photo of WHA Jets fans celebrating in front of the Richardson Building at an Avco Cup parade- "and there they were", over a half dozen friends from the Jewish High School, including his brother.

15.40- Topping listener reactions were predictions of roadway mayhem, delays affecting St. Boniface Hospital and the working class, and sceptical questions about who is pulling the strings to get the barriers removed.

Comment of the day:

"He must be kidding... rampant homelessness and crime + raw sewage into Red River + can't ride a bus without risk of murder = OPEN PORTAGE AND MAIN!"

- Will Portage and Main see a new generation of absent-minded pedestrians and/or methheads wandering into the path of trucks and buses?

  • To send story tips, comments, and contribute support via Interac- Email martygoldlive@gmail.com

20.30- You'll hear an audio clip of a TV interview with Coun. Brian Mayes.

He echoed the concerns we aired about pushing the plan through during budget season, and the fact it looks like a done deal when "the numbers have not been presented accurately."

- A listener crunched the repair vs reopen costs and concluded, "So dead pedestrians are worth a $13 million savings."

- You'll hear an email from a first time listener who said, "I am looking forward to you getting to the bottom on what is behind this insanity." He raised important points - never once mentioned by the compliant MSM in town - about whether property owners will demand a tax reduction.

- Overall, people are evaluating the political calculations in play for Gillingham, and which movers and shakers may be involved in a 'Vote Open' quid pro quo for their support in the 2026 election.

29:00 Part 3- Marty wonders, what will happen to businesses east of Main Street? They rely on the concourse to deliver customers who won't likely want to try braving the wind tunnel crossing the corners. Yet another angle no one wants to talk about.

- An update on the City suppressing public involvement in the Primary Transit Network meetings. There is no doubt bureaucrats removed the main page link, and buried the schedule deep on the website.

Marty calls BS on the excuses of 311; a councilor should take 5 minutes to ask what really happened. But then again, how many councilors promoted the sessions about the bus route changes on their media channels? And- We stumbled onto a strange aspect of Coun. Dobson's approach to social media.

  • Many of our top podcasts and stories are listed on the Donate page and when you check them out, you'll see-- WE EARN YOUR SUPPORT.

36.29 - A tip about Bell MTS layoffs (we'll have more about the Unifor fight to save jobs in an upcoming podcast); a listener has a possible explanation of why police shot Bradley Singer when trying to fulfill a mental health warrant.

To conclude Episode 23, Marty lays out some of the future plans to expand public affairs coverage- and why your support this month is integral to make sure your voice is heard.

Coming up- a coast-to-coast update that the Winnipeg media will never provide. Escalating mob intimidation of politicians and Jewish communities by the Iran-funded Hamas fan club has cowed police across the country into standing down.

Scenes straight out of 1930's Nazi Germany are now seen every day in Toronto, Montreal and elsewhere. It's coming to Winnipeg, and we need to be prepared.

Mar 4 2024- Portage and Main Cheerleaders Better Saddle Up For A Fight

Mar 4 2024- Portage and Main Cheerleaders Better Saddle Up For A Fight

In more of "What's old is new again", the dream of the urban visionary crowd to open Portage and Main to pedestrians is back on the civic agenda.

In Episode 22 you'll hear a breakdown of the economics that Mayor Scott Gillingham says has led him to be for it- after he was against it.

In contrast to 4 council members standing with the Mayor at the announcement, Coun. Brian Mayes of St. Vital argued that Gillingham is ignoring not only the 2018 plebiscite result, but possible alternatives, and is being divisive.

12.15 - Coun. Russ Wyatt took to the podium on Friday after the Mayor was done- and you'll hear a brief comment the Transcona representative made before staff shut down the microphone.

Wyatt also flagged that the report was written by a city planner, not an engineer. You'll hear questions a listener with professional experience raised, about the waterproofing membrane that's failing and about validity of the study.

The numbers seem to prove there's little to no difference in the costs to repair the corner - $73M - compared to opening it up, which would entail a big price tag to mothball the Circus concourse underground.

  • To send story tips, comments, and contribute support via Interac- Email martygoldlive@gmail.com

Has the City report factored in increased emergency response costs, including inevitable pedestrian incidents and traffic flow delays?

And, as one listener suggested, "There will be fights over panhandling spots."

Marty speaks out about the potential ruinous ripple effect on the quality of life in St. Boniface for area residents, businesses and the Hospital, if Portage and Main gets the urban vision dream of walkers crossing a wind tunnel at street level.

21:31 Part 2- "The closing of Portage and Main to pedestrian traffic in 1978 was a major step forward in terms of pedestrian safety and traffic flow in downtown Winnipeg."

That's what the mainstream media won't tell you - but we will.

When bumbling Brian Bowman tried to leverage the issue going into the 2018 civic election, a retired cop set the record straight.

Former deputy police chief Menno Zaharias wrote:

"Then there was Portage and Main. The intersection from hell in terms of traffic and traffic duty... but then add pedestrians to the mix and it was a nightmare."

Listen to the column Zacharias posted that described the mayhem in winter as drivers and walkers struggled for traction, and the resulting gridlock. Ask your own councilor if they can refute the conclusion of Menno Zacharias:

"The re-opening of Portage and Main to pedestrian traffic would be a great plan if your end objective was to bog down the center of Winnipeg into a total rush hour gridlock and at the same time endanger the lives of pedestrians."

We add to his historic observations with the modern-day potential of needing police on-site round the clock to maintain public safety.

Marty Gold sees the rush to push this through council at the same time they are handling budget debates, as a return to the anti-democratic 'walk-on motion' tactic in the Sam Katz era. And we all know how well that worked out.

Feb 29 2024- Gimli RCMP, Winnipeg Cops Facing Questions

Feb 29 2024- Gimli RCMP, Winnipeg Cops Facing Questions

Episode 21 is a long-awaited Crime Courts and Public Safety update, with both RCMP and city police making headlines that inspired some questions.

On Thursday, the RM of Gimli notified residents of a school and municipal building lockdown after shots were fired at a residence. It took the RCMP 2 hours to issue a confirming statement

Marty Gold describes the situation about an hour after parents were told the alert was off. Rumours pointed to juveniles being involved and he notes that there doesn't seem to be a coherent - or safe- protocol in town when a suspected shooter is being looked for by the RCMP.

And according to listeners, the RCMP wasn't being very helpful.

11:10 Part 2 - The recent shooting by police of a north end man being apprehended on a mental health warrant is a matter for the courts, and not the IIU, according to an analysis by The Black Rod.

Charge 'em: The Magnus Avenue Shooting by Cops

The column laid out research comparing police brass statements, news reports, and the Act, and exposed that the police had a fast-approaching deadline to haul Bradley Singer into custody for an involuntary examination.

Marty Gold goes through the facts in the blog post that point to police needing to justify to a judge and jury, the substantial differences in how this case became a raid with guns ablazing after an hour - with no evident threat to anybody - while longer recent stand-offs had no shots fired by the cops and no deaths.

29:15 Part 3- Premier Wab Kinew announced a 5 point plan that he claims will be "tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime."

Along with tougher bail guidelines and more enforcement of breaches, this must be having the NDP 'defund the police' wing throwing fits behind the scenes.

We focus in on the 5th point, a promised Public Safety Summit. You'll hear an idea of how to tell Kinew's conference screeners that you're a stakeholder, too.

Feb 28 2024- Fake Bus Consultations; More Used Needles; Ending The Pet Project of Millionaires

Feb 28 2024- Fake Bus Consultations; More Used Needles; Ending The Pet Project of Millionaires

What's old is new again! We look at current Winnipeg controversies that prove how accurate we have been in our coverage since 2006- plus, an unexpected Crime update, all in Episode 20.

Part 1- Emboldened by the success of City bike lane consultants in deceiving businesses and residents to bolster the goals of 'urban visionaries', we're seeing even dirtier tactics pulled this week on people who rely on Winnipeg Transit.

Kelly Ryback joins the show to explain just how rigged the latest "public consultations" are, where city officials have made sure-

A) there's no mention on the main City webpage about the Primary Transit Network meetings being held this week, after it was mysteriously removed from the page

B) newspaper ads didn't list the meeting details

C) meetings are held at the same time as budget briefings for councilors, and

D) only 5 meetings are being held in total, instead of a session in every ward.

Ryback believes if the public knew that councilors intend to make people walk up to 800 meters to find a bus stop, there'd be hell to pay. That's just one reason why the City - and seemingly council members - suppress public engagement.

You won't believe the kind of harebrained schemes councilors are willing to impose on bus users under the new route system.

Think it'll be easy to get to and from Jets games and other Arena events downtown from West Winnipeg? Think again.

As you'll hear, Ryback has been on the case since the Transit Master Plan was rammed through on short notice, and he's holding councilors accountable at public meetings.

17.40 Part 2- Coun. Brian Mayes is fed up with the Friends of Upper Fort Garry, and we say 'hurray!"

When we were on 92.9 KICK-FM, we took on the Pet Project of Millionaires. And the corporate media, with almost no exceptions, carried their water- "This will be the largest piece of art in the city" - and assailed those watching out for taxpayers as luddites.

"Save the Fort" was actually a selfish plan by Manitoba Club bigwigs (using the "Friends" group as a front) to preserve the view out of their back windows, and prevent the building of an apartment block.

Marty Gold recaps the history, the sneering insults of the FUFG to the public, and the repeated extensions to build an "interpretive centre" that Mayes now wants ended.

26.55 - It's not just fake public consultations and fake plans for Assinboine and Main that are 'new again'! Discarded used needles in parks and playgrounds are suddenly a concern for Councilor Cindy Gilroy after a recent meeting where "she learned" about it.

As Marty Gold says, that's just not believable. In March 2019, CTV reported "Several needles have been found in the city’s West End (Gilroy's ward) and a community patrol group worries it's only the beginning of what could be a busy year collecting discarded syringes."

The numerous lies told by the WRHA in that article led us to file a series of reports about used needles endangering the public- and how the WRHA refused to answer questions about the needle return rate of their 'harm reduction' needle handouts.

Hear Marty tell how he urged elected officials to act but instead, 5 years later, Gilroy wants the City to spend more money cleaning up her ward. We note she makes no mention of reducing the number of needles or installing more sharp receptacles.

And- guess who was in charge of that WRHA program that started the problem?

39.08 Part 3- A brief Crime Update, with news the media won't report:

We have details about a man found dead on the street in Gilroy's ward and his recent crime spree and release from the Remand Centre; and a machete incident on a Transit bus on Riel Day that landed two riders in hospital.

To close the program we look towards future topics and City Hall interviews. If you like our podcasts and ActionLine reports, please go to our Donate page and make a contribution today!

Feb 26 2024- Bell MTS To Drop Axe In Brandon- On Canada Day

Feb 26 2024- Bell MTS To Drop Axe In Brandon- On Canada Day

After our exclusive report detailing the intention of Bell to continue cutting local jobs beyond the CTV newsroom, we have found out just how far they will go.

With "obstacles" in targeting specific positions for buyouts in Winnipeg, Bell MTS has set its sights on Brandon- and we have the disturbing details.

In Episode 19 you'll hear the Unifor memo to about 30 telecom staffers in Westman and the awful Canada Day ultimatum they face.

"I want to acknowledge the devastating announcement made by Bell to migrate your work from Brandon to Winnipeg," wrote the Unifor Local7 president in preparation for a meeting with union members on Monday.

Listeners in the know have filled in Marty Gold about the impact of the decision, and why uprooting families from Brandon isn't really necessary - since some members of the management union will continue to occupy the Brandon facility after the Canada Day axe drops. A source explained:

"Looks to me Bell has found a way to get around some of the “obstacles” when it comes to getting rid of some of the Bell MTS employees if you know what I mean."

We have details on how Bell MTS discriminates against Manitoba workers by refusing to consider work-from-home options for them, despite having hundreds of outside contractors doing it.

How does it affect the community of Brandon to have loyal employees treated like this? Start with their mental health, obviously, as Bell once again shows that Let's Talk Day is a farce.

As another source told us, "They don’t mind their contracted out workers working all over the world but god forbid a local employee works at home."

It's disgusting and deplorable corporate behavior, and we will have even more about Bell's plans to eliminate jobs in Manitoba in the coming weeks.

17:58 Part 2- Marty Gold recaps some recent podcasts and emphasizes that it's the trust listeners and readers put in our coverage that drives our investigations and analysis.

As one supporter stated:

"Life was so much simpler when all you had was Legacy media and they could curate news and you really only got one opinion. Thinking was optional…a lot of the world’s messiest situations were wrapped up in a nice neat package."

We buck the narrative, explore the complexities, and continue to put forward information that MSM hides from the public.

We'll be talking about the Jets plea for support, used needles in parks, and the fate of Upper Fort Garry later this week.

Feb 23 2024 Bell MTS A Hot Mess As Layoffs Loom

Feb 23 2024 Bell MTS A Hot Mess As Layoffs Loom

Last week a listener emailed us: "To add fuel to the fire with the Bell layoffs, us Bell MTS employees don’t know what will be happening to us."

"When Bell bought out MTS, they said they will “invest in the community” but as you'll hear in Episode 18, "the future seems bleak to say the least."

Part 1- A letter from Unifor's Director for telecom members was sent the day after Bell Media dumped radio and TV employees. There's more layoffs planned across Canada, but in Manitoba, the idea "faces obstacles in targeting specific positions" and Marty Gold tells listeners why. But that's not all...

12:26 Part 2- Once, MTS was a coveted employer and source of pride for Manitobans. But insider details about the downward spiral under Bell's ownership tell a sad tale:

- "I like my job, the pay, benefits and pension but things have gotten toxic and rotten to the core after Bell took over."

- A 66% decrease in staffing levels, as two flagship sites are half or less full.

- "The error rate with the Nordia representatives are so high" that management approaches experienced Bell MTS reps for their own customer service needs directly at work "instead of calling in like a customer."

- Buyouts, people quitting "due to the high stress levels/toxic work environment and outsourcing of our jobs" to low-pay companies such as Nordia and Sitel, which is "why you get inferior customer service."

- "Moral at work is at all time low, cutting hours for casual part time and regular part time employees to the point where they have to get a second job or quit."

- A layoff clause that's the "obstacle" the union mentioned that makes mass buyouts prohibitive, so "if they can’t get rid of us, they will make life miserable where we quit."

Our source also took aim at the hypocrisy of Bell BCE's avowed commitment to the community- and their annual PR campaign.

"Don’t be fooled if this company Bell says “yes we have 1000 Manitoba employees. Ask them this, are then directly employed by Bell or are contractors? I bet they avoid the question."

"They wonder what causes mental issues? It’s bullshit like this and I find it so ironic that they have this Bell Let’s Talk Day. So Bell, let’s talk about the bullshit you clowns are doing that is causing mental issues. "

The Union local is Unifor Local 7 (https://uniforlocal7.ca/) and has a General Membership meeting set for March 27. TGCTS will continue to report on the situation.

30:42 Part 3- Marty Gold explains that tips like these come to ActionLine.ca and not corporate media for a reason- we can be trusted to stand up for the truth and to get information you need on the record.

While the Prime Minister attacks social media platforms that hold him and his subsidized media accountable, we continue to represent the community.

Feb 21 2024- When Holocaust Denier David Irving Spoke In Winnipeg

Feb 21 2024- When Holocaust Denier David Irving Spoke In Winnipeg

Episode 17 tells the tale of when the United Kingdom's most notorious Holocaust denier brought his book tour to Winnipeg in 1986.

David Irving, an unhinged military historian, finally died this week but many of the same lies he spread in his books and speeches have been heard from Hamas supporters since October 7.

You'll hear audio of the vile revisionist history David Irving told a Winnipeg audience about Hitler's genocide of Europe's Jews, from TV news reports that Marty has preserved for decades.

  • To send in story tips, sponsor podcasts, or donate towards our expenses by Interac: Email - martygoldlive@gmail.com

7:42 Part 2 - The history of David Irving and his path to Winnipeg is recounted: From his college days printing an article calling Hitler the "greatest unifying force Europe has known since Charlemagne", to claiming the Diary of Anne Frank was a forgery, to telling a famous British TV host there was no evidence Hitler knew of the systematic slaughter of Jews by his regime.

David Irving became an ally of the National Front and of Canada's convicted and deported Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel.

20.15- Under the leadership of Yoram Hamizrachi, the Manitoba Intercultural Alliance forged a unique standing in the Charter of Rights era. Ethnic community trailblazers like Ken Babb and Strini Reddy were part of the group and Marty became secretary.

After the Jewish council convinced a hotel to cancel Irving's speech, MIA learned another hotel in Fort Garry picked up the booking, and were determined to bear witness to the proceedings- regardless of the personal risk.

22.30- You'll hear the report of CBC's Brian Yasui in 1986, his description of the books, the audience, and his questions for David Irving. The audio includes a clip of the defence of Hitler which you will not believe.

Marty tells of a close call that night when he was followed, and why his experiences in that era establish him as the top reporter exposing antisemitism in our city

28.00 - Brief audio of the CBC report the next day, with the voices of Jim Compton, Sandra Lewis- and a very young Marty.

A few years later Irving told audiences "The gas chambers that are shown to the tourists in Auschwitz are fakes," that only 30,000 died there and the Jews "had it coming" and told followers "to treat these little legends with the ridicule and bad taste that they deserve."

After work on the second Zündel trial, Irving declared he'd be a "one-man intifada" against the idea that there had been a Holocaust. Irving got what he deserved with a massive and financially ruinous court loss that was the subject of the motion picture Denial.

Winnipeg needs to remember this dark chapter when Mayor Norrie and Premier Pawley were silent as a Hitler-loving "moderate fascist" spread antisemitic conspiracy theories in our community.

32:04 Part 3- The encounter with David Irving was a challenge for Marty Gold at age 26 to implement the lessons he learned from his family and at Joseph Wolinsky Collegiate.

To this day, there are antisemitic elements in Winnipeg who emulate David Irving.

While the local media and elected officials silent about those Jew-haters, ActionLine.ca and our podcast will continue to expose them.

Feb 16 2024- Tribute to Kenny Ploen, Winnipeg’s King Arthur

Feb 16 2024- Tribute to Kenny Ploen, Winnipeg’s King Arthur

The passing of Blue Bomber legend Ken Ploen on Tuesday stirred memories of a hero of yesteryear and the glory days of Winnipeg professional football led by the Iowa native under coach Bud Grant.

As a star at quarterback and defensive back in 4 Bomber victories, and a solid ambassador for the city the rest of his life, he was part of our lives and a source of pride. Families spoke of his time at Bomber QB as over 20 years passed by without a Grey Cup and heard him on CJOB radio; and thus the legend was passed down through generations of Winnipeg kids.

In Part 1 of this special episode, Marty Gold describes Ploen's career, leadership, statistics that still rank high on all-time lists, and a couple of surprise career anomalies.

(Also mentioned among the Hall of Fame teammates of the era is fullback/placekicker Gerry James, who was an integral part of Ploen's early success in the CFL. You'll hear of a Wikipedia glitch about James that someone perhaps can correct)

18.20 Part 2 - Marty tells a personal story about Kenny Ploen and a Grey Cup event in 1998 at the Winnipeg Press Club.

We have exclusive audio of Kenny speaking and with honouree Angelo Mosca! Hear the story behind how the event came to happen, other Winnipeggers who took part, and how Ploen became part of it.

It was one of the proudest accomplishments of Marty Gold's career, bringing together the man in the Blue and Gold his dad loved to cheer with the 'Big Nasty' Tiger-Cat lineman he loved to boo.

Feb 13 2024- Eadie Expects Progress On Bus & City Hall Safety Measures

Feb 13 2024- Eadie Expects Progress On Bus & City Hall Safety Measures

Episode 15 picks up on our last interview with Mynarski Coun. Ross Eadie, with a long-form discussion about danger using the transit system and around City Hall.

The previous discussion encompassed City budget and housing plans, the massive transit route re-organization, and his own concerns about flawed public consultations. Listen to it here: Coun. Eadie on Transit and Trudeau's Housing Deal

2:28 Ross Eadie: "All the problems I got going on on Selkirk Avenue and on Main Street, these are all the things happening on the bus."

As a longtime transit user, Ross Eadie has firsthand experience with the increasing disorder on Winnipeg bus routes. Hear him describe a 'just got out of jail' party.

"I need to see some progress" not just with on-bus safety but with incidents at bus stops, he told TGCTS.

Regarding the police union grievance against a new provincially-supported transit security force, he said the WPA is fighting an uphill battle. "Let's move ahead with something."

13:10 Part 2 - Ross Eadie has a frank discussion with Marty Gold about security at City Hall; we learn there's no security orientation for new councilors.

"There should be," said Eadie, who discusses panic buttons, location of the security desk, a proposal for metal detectors, and his own close call when working at the Legislature.

Fellow councilors Sherri Rollins and Janice Lukes are worried about their safety at City Hall. Eadie says that the perception is "They're more vulnerable. The people who will hurt you go after the weak."

"The attitude towards politicians is not good out there. It's further made worse by social media."

20.40 "There's lots of unstable people out there who don't like politicians... I usually know how to deal with people who are animated. It's the quiet ones, those are the ones who are going to move to hurt you."

Marty Gold raises public complaints of being expected to pay for improved protection for Councilors when there's no such protections planned for the average citizen.

25.00 - The push for added safety is linked by Rollins to the shooting at Edmonton City Hall. But as Eadie learns in the interview, neither she or the local media has explained it was a terror attack by a Jihadist, not an aggrieved constituent.

Marty suggests councilors need a plain-language assessment of which radical movements pose threats to their safety. Eadie explains why the design of the 510 Main Street campus makes for a worse potential outcome than the molotov tossed and 6 shots inside the Edmonton civic building.

33:10 Part 3- There's going to be more interviews with City Council members and more investigations into policies and practices that matter to you, our listeners. Plus coverage of crime and policing, road safety, bike lanes and so much more.

Feb 11 2024- CTV Dumps Weekend News; St. B Fights To Save Pools

Feb 11 2024- CTV Dumps Weekend News; St. B Fights To Save Pools

With Bell Media bean counters axing almost 5000 jobs nationally and dumping weekend and noontime newscasts in Winnipeg, the public is again being abandoned by corporate newsrooms.

Episode 14 starts with a look at the impact on the ability of their newsroom to properly report the news, and our efforts to ensure vital information and investigations continue to be made available to residents and stakeholders.

The hypocrisy of issuing life-shattering layoffs immediately after the "Bell Let's Talk" charade of caring about mental health is now frequently noted as the brand burns itself to the ground.

  • News Tips/Comments/Sponsorships/Interac donations: martygoldlive@gmail.com

13:51 Part 2- An example of the kind of news CTV Winnipeg might have telecast this weekend is the budget battle brewing in St. Boniface.

City belt-tightening proposals to close area outdoor pools is meeting fierce opposition in Windsor Park/Winakwa and around Happyland Park.

We air out the well-founded grievances of the residents who point out the City itself fails to follow policy and to staff the pools properly. This also impacts area families outside of those neighborhoods- as when the mismanaged Norwood Pool was demolished a few years ago, they were told to attend the other facilities, now also slated for demolition with no replacements planned.

23.00- Councilor Matt Allard has asserted he will fight the cuts and try to save the amenities.

"Splash Pad were meant to replace wading pools, not pools. And two pools in exchange for one splash pad is not fair to the residents of St. Boniface,"

You'll hear his Facebook post, where he cites the meth crisis and rising crime as reasons to preserve recreation in the working class neighborhoods in his ward.

"After I had time to cool off I looked at the budget and talked to a few colleagues, I realised that there is a good argument to change the budget and save the pools.

"I am doing everything I can, talking to colleagues and city administration to reverse this decision."

He says he'll lobby for other councilors to vote with him. Will it be too little, too late?

Here's a CBC Radio interview about the battle.

35:53 Part 3- Another story people won't see on CTV WInnipeg this weekend but that we wlll tell you about, is a pro-Hamas rally planned for Sunday.

Organizers say it will use tactics to get public attention that have been banned in Toronto- by occupying a traffic overpass.

It's another in a long line of antisemitic antics that Winnipeg leaders fail to denounce or prevent. Listen to the details as we close the episode.

Feb 9 2024- Free Press Under Fire After Jen Zoratti Denigrates Oct. 7 Victims

Feb 9 2024- Free Press Under Fire After Jen Zoratti Denigrates Oct. 7 Victims

Episode 13 looks at antisemitism in Winnipeg media, concealed under the guise of far-left "intersectionality" and claims that it's only anti-Zionism, not antisemitism.

Even with Justin Trudeau shoveling millions of dollars annually into the newspaper, the Winnipeg Free Press needs every reader and advertiser they can get. But when the pages are filled with slanted reporting and mean-spirited opinions that insult the public, it's a losing battle.

3.00 - To stem the tide, WFP editor Paul Samyn emailed a mea culpa to readers on Jan. 24. This was after blatant failures to flag a sexist column by Tom Brodbeck about former Premier Heather Stefanson ("for that we apologize"); an unhinged attack on unvaccinated Manitobans that "provided us with no immunity against the criticism that came our way"; and ongoing complaints about coverage of the Gaza War.

You'll hear how his "adjusting the mix on our letters page" instead opened the door last Saturday to Hamas-supporting leftists- who laugh about the paper being their useful idiots.

Samyn assured readers their feedback was "helping the Free Press be stronger, a trusted place you can turn to for defining the news of the day and debating the issues of our time."

In less than 48 hours, he was forced to eat his words.

11:00 Part 2- Three columns in the Winnipeg Jewish Review provided a scathing rebuke to a review by Jen Zoratti of an event hosted by Gail Asper exposing the sexual violence of Hamas on Oct. 7.

First, Marty Gold reads some of the unbelievably rancid comments from Zoratti. Then, he recaps the op-ed of Jessica Cogan, herself a feminist, who was at the program on January 24 at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

"I am left wondering how Ms. Zoratti could have left that program with the viewpoint that she did, without even a shred of compassion for the victims discussed that evening... she goes on to scold us for the way we are being forced to "bear witness". Does Ms. Zoratti live under a rock?"

"Ms. Zoratti then accuses the Jewish Community, including Jewish women, of exploiting "women's bodies to drive a political agenda and justify violence." This is victim-blaming of the highest order. In what gender studies classes did Ms. Zoratti learn this approach?"

Cogan asked, "Would Ms. Zoratti go to an event hosted by the Muslim, Black, or Indigenous communities and have the audacity to "what about" them? Tellingly, Ms. Zoratti had no hesitation in doing so to the Jewish Community. Again, it speaks for itself."

Samyn may have to issue another mea culpa, since "The one glaring omission from Ms. Zoratti's opinion was any hint of compassion or empathy towards the Israeli victims or the members of Winnipeg's Jewish community who assembled that evening."

22:54 Part 3- We tell you how Larry Pinsky, a Winnipeg lawyer, went even further in his op-ed, Holocause Remembrance And October 7: How Do You Fix A Problem Like Zoratti?

"Ms. Zoratti, who usually is held out in the paper as an entertainment columnist... denigrated the survivors and victims of the mass sexual assaults and other crimes committed by Hamas and their co-conspirators."

"Ms. Zoratti paid lip service to believing that these vile crimes were committed, using the word "ostensibly" (and) takes aim at the solemn presentation of the proof of Hamas's crimes... She said that the solemn evening veered into "agitprop". "

"While Ms. Zoratti might have a political agenda, and while she might want to gas light in the tradition of her Marxist forbearers, the facts are the facts... To top off this tripe, Ms. Zoratti abused her presence at this earnest evening to accuse Israel of apartheid."

31:32 Part 4- WJR editor Rhonda Spivak piled on another problem for Samyn, after Faith reporter John Longhurst tweeted "great column" to Zoratti.

"(He) has set back interfaith relations... How does Longhurst  propose to repair that which he has damaged?"

And, we wonder, how will his boss?

Feb 5 2024- Coun. Eadie on Transit and Trudeau's Housing Deal

Feb 5 2024- Coun. Eadie on Transit and Trudeau's Housing Deal

Episode 12 is a return to our roots in talk radio, with a long-form interview of Mynarski ward Councilor Ross Eadie of Winnipeg's North End.

4:57- In Part 1, we asked Coun. Eadie about the city budget and Mayor Gillingham's repeated practice of issuing high interest debentures:

"We have to fund by debt the North End sewage plant," he explained, as an example of long-term assets being financed.

10.00- "We have no more cash" because of property tax freezes in the past, and Eadie tells that the upcoming budget is going to see a change in the debt policy.

"There's lots of people making lots of money in this City, believe me," Eadie said, in justifying potential tax and fee hikes.

With Wab Kinew allowing school boards to hike taxes, we discuss if inner-city councilors are concerned that long-time homeowners are being squeezed.

12.50- Coun. Eadie comments on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's housing incentive "deal".

What will the effect beof federally-influenced zoning changes in Mynarski? "It's going to change everything", by allowing a 4 plex anywhere from the Red River to about Sinclair, and all the way north to Leila.

"It's going to change the whole look and feel of the neighborhoods", although Eadie assures this is a long, gradual process.

16.15- Next, Eadie responds to Coun. Brian Mayes' discovery about Parker Lands. Built as a transit oriented development, it somehow didn't qualify to be on the revised civic housing map.

18.00- Trudeau's Housing Accelerator Fund has "nothing to redevelop an area like Dufferin" - hear which areas in the north end are going to be targeted by developers.

19.36- Eadie describes how the HAF hearing process is supposed to roll out: hear how he ensured ALL council members, including Mayor Gillingham, will listen to the public's concerns.

  • To sponsor podcasts, or contribute support by Interac: Email-- martygoldlive@gmail.com

22:25- Part 2- Focusing on new transit route plans, Eadie reveals that last week councilors learned "things have been changed".

He describes crazy administration ideas for new routes in the North End, such as moving the Cathedral bus onto Inkster- despite the foundation problems. "The planners don't know the history of these neighborhoods," laments Eadie.

Marty raised the question about the fate of Route 10 serving St. Boniface Hospital, which Eadie is very familiar with.

28.40- Having heard our exclusive reports about relentless bike lobbyists demonizing drivers and neighborhood opposition and gaming the consultation process, Eadie related how these dynamics play out for access to Scotia. He anticipates more bike lobby resistance when he insists a bus route on the riverbank street be maintained.

31.00 We hear a forecast of where in the south end, that north end buses will land. (Get ready Stafford St.)

34.00 There's no confidence in City holding genuine consultations anymore. Marty cites our discovery about the secret plan to erase 99 St. Boniface parking spaces.

"People should have been told", agreed Eadie, who is determined to ensure similar complaints can't be made about the bus route discussions. He's already warned officials about the crumbling roads targeted for future bus use.

41:15- Marty Gold recaps the interview, observing that Eadie agrees public consultations are falling far short of the obligations to voters.

Feb 2 2024- Winnipeg's Greeks & Ukrainians Outraged About Violent Attacks

The Crime Courts and Public Safety update goes behind the headlines in Episode 11, asking the question: What kind of society are we becoming?

Part 1- A brief recap of our last podcast, 100 Days Of Wab.

A listener pointed out that Kinew posted a promotional video that seemed to agree with us- the Premier's got almost nothing to brag about since taking over the Legislature.

6:07 Part 2- There's allegations that a botched ambulance response helped seal the fate of restaurant owner Kyriakos Vogiatzakis. Winnipeg's MSM still hasn't told you.

Ask yourself why.

We update our coverage with an eyewitness account of how the restaurant staff rushed out to help, the horror they felt, and how long it took for emergency responders to arrive at the Cork and Flame.

"Eighteen minutes"

Only TGCTS has told the public about this shocking delay.

And only our podcast has aired the speech by Mike Vogiatzakis stating that the defibrillator in the ambulance was not working, and so a second ambulance was called in.

Marty Gold recounts how City Hall heard in 2019, that for the first time 911 calls for ambulances were queuing up instead of being dispatched. Have things gotten better since then? Why not?

The criminal background of the accused killer wasn't enough, despite 12 previous convictions for breaching court orders and numerous violent offences, to keep Curtis Dalebozik in custody.

Instead, over 700 mourners had to attend a funeral at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday.

They wonder what Provincial Court Judge Donald Slough, who in November sentenced Dalebozik to 12 months of supervised probation - which he breached the next day - would say if he was asked, "What if it was YOUR brother?"

23:10 Part 3- A Ukrainian couple who fled to Winnipeg seeking a safe home were at a bus stop around midnight with their groceries this week. Now they're added to the list of refugees attacked on the street, after the husband was shot in the eye.

Marty Gold presents a series of questions, including who are the parents or guardians responsible for the 14 and 17 year old boys charged with robbery? What instructions or warnings have the 25,000 refugees now here from Ukraine received about their safety?

So far they have learned The Forks isn't safe on Canada Day, and that Elmwood isn't safe at 8 AM. Now they know bus stops on Burrows aren't either. They wonder, did they move to live in Winnipeg, or are they living in Detroit?

We've heard the concern about violent criminals from the Greek and Ukrainian communities and will continue to be their voice.

Safety concerns aren't just on our streets- City Hall is also debating adding security measures, and we'll be asking more questions of councilors wanting security measures paid by taxpayers who can't afford to protect themselves.

36.30- A snapshot of the kind of violent criminals running around Flin Flon.

Again, teenage girls are included. Who are their parents?

Jan. 31 2024- 100 Days Of Wab

Jan. 31 2024- 100 Days Of Wab

In Episode 10 we pivot to the Legislature to take a look at the first hundred days of Premier Wab Kinew.

What has he done so far as leader of Manitoba? It appears the honeymoon is waning and coming to an end.

2:18 - Marty Gold walks through the first actions of the Wab Kinew regime, which was heavy on the virtue signaling and light of genuine deliverables.

As reliant as any NDP government on sin taxes, making gambling and booze more accessible can lead to the collateral damage to families and the community. It’s not clear if Kinew has calculated that. The promise of a downtown “safe consumption” site still has no details, but Marty has an idea for a location.

So far we’ve seen schools, day cares, personal care homes, all canceled. The sell-off of derelict Manitoba Housing is also on hold. Some were designated to be sold to low-income families. Ideology over common sense?

11.58 - By canceling the out-of-province surgery program with no idea how to get patients slated, Kinew has sentenced the sick to suffer in pain. Yet the whole election campaign pivoted on improving health care.

Defunding the overseas recruitment of nurses goes under the microscope. You’ll hear how successful the PC plan was, and we use our Faye Hochman high school math to add up how many nurses are already booked.

But the NDP didn’t want that? It’s part of a pattern where promises were made with no path to fulfill them, because the objective was to get elected and blame the PCs for forcing Kinew to break his promises.

15.43- The Free Press cited the nursing crisis as a line in the sand.

An editorial stated “It’s true that Wab Kinew’s NDP government has inherited a terrific mess in the form of our current health-care system. But it can, and should, be held accountable for failures to act quickly on the file… and if Manitobans can’t get into an ER (or even get a health card) for love or money, it won’t be acceptable to look backwards for an excuse.”

16.38 - We have a snapshot of the results after the first 4400 responses to the NDP’s budget priority survey. Wait till you hear which NDP favorites languished in the basement.

The most noticeable (to the public) decision Kinew made was to suspend the gas tax. He had a couple of other ideas that were sensible like having workers downtown go back to the office… except for the intersecting issues of crime and public safety.

Kinew also failed to meet his promise on bail reform. Too shy to ask his buddy Justin Trudeau to help keep criminals in jail?

The most remarkable thing he’s done since being elected, as Marty explains, is that Kinew has largely kept a tight rein on the far-left radicals in his cabinet and caucus.

But ultra-feminist heroine, Nahanni Fontaine has gotten Kinew’s government into trouble after the Families Minister kept parroting pro-Hamas propaganda and never once denounced the sexual violence committed on October 7. Voters who don't support terrorists have noticed.

Considering how he’s scrubbed working for Al Jazeera from his resume, he may want to talk with her about it.

25:36 Part 3- A fast wrap up with a look towards upcoming podcasts.

On deck we have a request to interview Councilor Sherri Rollins regarding her security concerns about City Hall; following up on the murder of Kyriakos Vogiatzakis and the failure of the ambulance service, and an upcoming analysis piece about education, Math is Hard- for Lefties.

Jan 29 2024- Revolving Door Justice, Ambulance Failure Blamed In Vogiatzakis Murder

Jan 29 2024- Revolving Door Justice, Ambulance Failure Blamed In Vogiatzakis Murder

We bring you up to date on the senseless murder of Cork and Flame owner Kyriakos Vogiatzakis and the demands for systemic court changes to protect the public from violent drug addicts.

In Part 1, Marty Gold lays out the known reports about the violent criminal acts since 2019 by the accused killer, Curtis Dalebozik. He didn't care about anyone else- the exact opposite of Kyriakos.

Marty describes the accolades and tributes to Kyriakos, and the crowd from all ages and backgrounds who gathered at the candlelight vigil on Sunday night outside his restaurant. He also describes practical issues the family has to solve on a day to day basis, prior to the upcoming funeral.

09:52 - Don Woodstock spoke with TGCTS prior to the vigil beginning. He was a friend of Kyriakos and his company, JamRock Security handled the safety plan when the site was first renovated.

"Kyriakos was always a preventative guy", intent on protecting his restaurant staff and customers from the harassment of vagrants.

He tells about the kindness he saw from Kyriakos to help the less fortunate. "We have lost a very caring member of the community".

You'll hear Don explain how all across the city, drug addicts committing violent crime "has become an epidemic."

"This has to be a wake-up call for everybody in Winnipeg... We need to start holding elected officials accountable. Which death will it take for us to say enough is enough? Why should we lose the best of us because of incompetent politicians, why?"

  • To sponsor podcasts, or contribute support by Interac: Email-- martygoldlive@gmail.com

18:57 Part 2- The older brother of Kyriakos spoke passionately with Marty about leading a demand for changes to the 'harm reduction' agenda that prioritizes a criminal's rights over public safety.

20:51 - Exclusive interview with Mike Vogiatzakis.

"This tragedy means it's time for change. It's time for this rotating court door system to be shut... If the judges and court system had did their job, this guy would be in jail and my brother would be alive."

Mike tells a shocking coincidence about the killer, and vows "I guarantee you I'm going to make this city safe... and take this senseless act and turn it into good."

He explains a broader issue- a violent repeat offender was roaming around despite a warrant for 2 assaults, near kids and schools and bus stops in a "safe" west Winnipeg neighborhood.

23:51 - Mike's concern for community safety is well-founded, as Marty reviews the addictive psychosis that politicians want to expand with "safe supply injection sites" with no emphasis on mandatory incarceration and rehab.

Justin Trudeau doesn't care, because he has more personal security than anyone in Canada.

31:07 Part 3- The vigil paid tribute to Kyriakos with prayer and musical performances. And then, his brother gave a powerful and emotional address.

33:35 - Mike Vogiatzakis told the crowd, "he deserved to live out his dreams."

"He had a heart of gold... (my mom) has to be at a graveside burying her kid. Why? Because the justice system failed us... People are dying every day of the week and it's time for change".

Mike asserted that Prime Minister Trudeau has undermined the spirit of our country- "people have lost hope" - and that he see the effects of it at his funeral home.

"This death is going to have meaning, we are going to go after the justice system", lauding police for trying to do their jobs when "we have a system in place that's killing us... The people have the power."

You'll also hear Mike describe a stunning delay by the City ambulance service in responding to the call, and an equipment failure when paramedics finally arrived.

41:53 - Marty Gold wraps up by noting the pattern of offences by Dalebozik made this incident 100% predictable- and preventable.

Will this murder be the catalyst to finally keep violent criminals behind bars to keep our families and community safe?

Jan 25 2024- Are Old Trees Matt Allard's New Shiny Thing?

Jan 25 2024- Are Old Trees Matt Allard's New Shiny Thing?

A recap of recent episodes lead off Episode 8 and then City Hall is in the spotlight this week!

Marty Gold has an update on our interview with an arson victim, a comment from Coun. Ross Eadie on our exclusive that the investigation into Coun. John Orlikow is on ice, and the ongoing controversy about the online posts by Dr. Joss Reimer.

We make clear, the WRHA has been under our microscope for over 15 years and we were at the infamous press conference when her predecessor "Brain" Postl made up excuses for the ER death of Brian Sinclair. With a salary over $400,000, TGCTS will continue to hold Reimer accountable since MSM gives her a pass.

14:04 Part 2- An email to Mayor Gillingham and Councilors asked some hard questions about the slippery slope of imposing a mandatory "living wage."

The voice of reason from St. James, Kelly Ryback, challenged the motion as "simply not feasible nor responsible."

"Many of the jobs earning less than the living wage are low-skilled with limited responsibility... The city charter does not mandate that the city is to be the highest wage payer nor a work charity nor a make work project."

You’ll hear his main points, and his request that council address "employee performance and productivity so the taxpayers and businesses receive more value for the wages they provide through taxation, licensing, and service fees."

Another issue Ryback has voiced concern about- the grand Transit plan to restructure the entire routing system.

It's being pushed through with minimal public consultation and will affect YOUR neighborhood. You'll hear our as-yet unanswered inquiry to the area councilor about the potential effect on service to St. Boniface Hospital.

24.00 He won't address questions about bus service or public safety near the Hospital, or about the disastrous bike lane botch on Goulet St., or about the secret plan to steal 99 parking spaces in the area to satisfy his snobby allies in bike lobby.

Instead, Matt Allard had his unofficial stenographers in the media type up a fluff piece about expanding the historic resources list to protect trees that "Indigenous people are believed to have used long ago to find shade on hot summer days."

Matt Allard is worried about antique trees, already protected by laws governing parks. Like Joss Reimer, he's into virtue signaling, not doing his actual job.

We've interviewed two other councilors, and Wyatt and Mayes are concerned about the gridlock being caused on the Goulet truck route and the effect on ambulances rushing people to the hospital. They're concerned about the slanted bike lane "consultation" process that misled and excluded area residents and businesses. And guess what- there's more bike lanes coming.

We tell you about new online surveys proposing protected bike lanes downtown and for Notre Dame/Cumberland. We discovered a blatant bias against drivers in the reply options. That's your tax dollars at work.

Since the supposed rationale for these projects is 'public safety', we're going to promote the return of an iconic traffic safety character to our schools and community centres to teach pedestrians their personal responsibility. Will Matt Allard support it?

36:40 - An example how MSM filters out inconvenient news: Did you hear about the protests in Gaza? No, not the "Viva Intifada/Death to America" ones.

Muslim families are demanding the Israeli hostages be released by Hamas so refugees can return home. We report the details- and you'll be astonished.

It's another example of why ActionLine.ca and TGCTS are a valuable part of the information landscape in Winnipeg and Canada. With your support for our upcoming fundraising drive, we will be your watchdog in 2024.

Jan 22 2024- Dr. Joss Reimer Touts EV’s As ER Patient Dies

Jan 22 2024- Dr. Joss Reimer Touts EV’s As ER Patient Dies

Our most popular episode in 2024 happens to rank at #3 all-time, and so back to the well we go for Episode 7!

Dr. Joss Reimer- "Winnipeg's top doctor"- continues to provide ample evidence she's more focused on advancing her political views than on WRHA patients.

3:57 - After a New Year's Eve tweet dismissing the concerns about violence in downtown Winnipeg as being a by-product of "good old fashioned racism", the head of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority heard firsthand from residents- especially women- how wrong she was.

That was just a sample of the opinions Reimer has, making folks wonder how detached she is from the reality of life in Winnipeg.

One commenter noted,

"She continuously whines about misogyny while simultaneously thanking people for their support after being elected to president of something important. But she believes the medical field is misogynistic. Crying from her ivory tower."

Among a bare minimum of online posts about Emergency Rooms and overworked health care employees- and offering a bureaucratic solution that will take 15 years to implement - Reimer is relentless in promoting a left-wing, climate alarmist agenda with a sprinkling of 'the dangers of misinformation" thrown in.

In Episode 7, you'll hear about her far-out views on "surviving climate change", and her related obsession with electric vehicles.

Dr. Joss Reimer wields a narrow interpretation of science, complains about 'misinformation' that challenges the medical establishment, and hates fossil fuels, even though thousands of prairie residents would have died this winter without it.

  • To send in story tips, sponsor podcasts, or contribute to our costs via Interac: martygoldlive@gmail.com

The Department of Natural Resources spent $76.1M to evaluate the reliability of electric vehicles in Canadian winters just to find the study to be "inconclusive", and warns of "negative unintended outcomes" of the mandates Reimer supports.

Consumer Reports concluded EVs are 73% less reliable than gasoline vehicles, contrary to Joss Reimer's contentions, and are more expensive to maintain and repair. The costs of home chargers and power supply push EVs costs to the level of ICE vehicles- if not more- to refuel.

Reimer ignores those findings, and instead endorses posts by 'visionary' urbanists who assert a reduced winter driving range (down to 250 km from 450) isn't important.

Who cares if people can get to Brandon and back in a day? At least her car doesn't have to warm up, she bragged.

Does she park it outside in the cold overnight? That was just one of a series of questions Dr. Reimer didn't answer:

"Will an EV tow my camper trailer?"

"How much do your batteries cost to replace?"

"Why do you drive if you find vehicles dangerous on the streets?"

As Marty Gold points out, when you make around $420,000 a year like her, the peons can be ignored.

But what can't be ignored is Dr. Joss Reimer making no comment about a patient dying after a 5 hour wait in the St. Boniface ER on Friday, offering no condolences, but still finding time to tweet about how great EVs are.

As one disgusted response put it: "ER wait times are insane. Go to fucking work."

Jan 18 2024- Disabled Tenant Describes Escape From North End Arson

A special edition of the Crime Courts & Public Safety Update has exclusive ActionLine details on two recent incidents - one in the North End, the other on Pembina Hwy. - where violent criminals terrorized female victims, with one left homeless.

4:40 Part 2- If she hadn't delayed taking her sleeping pills - because she was on the phone with the cops for the second time Monday night about the tenants upstairs- Tamara Bard could have died.

In an extended interview, she says a "very physical" domestic disturbance that ended in a fire joined a long list of trouble from other tenants of the College Ave. house she's lived in for 4 years.

It's a story of a vulnerable tenant whose right to a safe home was ignored by a negligent property management company.

Despite the cops doing a wellness check after her first call to 911 Monday evening, the fighting flared up again around midnight. After she hung up from the second call, a neighbour alerted her to a fire raging on the first floor.

A woman, her son and her boyfriend lived there. One was found dead and 2 are in hospital. The daughter of that woman, and a female roommate, lived in the top floor unit and were unharmed.

Tamara has been disabled since 2012 and barely escaped from her basement suite with her dog- but her 4 cats perished.

Her daughter set up a Go Fund Me and we are urging listeners to do what they can to assist Tamara. Click here-

My mom lost her home & everything to a house fire

16.30- You'll be shocked by the revolving door of unstable 'Housing First' renters placed upstairs from Tamara by Ember Realty in the last 12 months.

A mother with 2 teenage boys lived upstairs from Jan.-June.

As Tamara describes, no matter how many complaints she made about fighting, screaming, and garbage, it took a naked missing teenage girl emerging from a bedroom window, and a mad dog biting Tamara and a cop, to get them turfed. And that's not all.

21:19 Part 3- After the missing girl was rescued and charges laid, it didn't take long for a new set of problems.

A St. Boniface agency referred a woman and her cousin to rent the unit, which lasted until November. You'll hear about piles of garbage and dog crap, and vagrants pitching tents in the front yard.

Tamara describes a scene straight out of 'Panic in Needle Park' with rigs sticking out of the arms of zombies. The next door neighbours had to build a fence to protect their young kids and pets.

She says that Ember Realty didn't really evict the druggies, they just dumped them into a West End property. Can you believe it? She was almost flooded out by the arsonists who moved in after- and guess who referred them to the landlord?

Getting paid direct deposit by welfare was easy, but managing the social disorder of 'Housing First' policies and protect an honest, disabled resident was too hard. When we interviewed her for Episode 6, the landlord still hadn't called to offer help. For Tamara Bard, a disabled tenant, it's become 'Housing Last'.

She is sticking up for 'good people on a really quiet street until the problems in the house'.

Tamara Bard has a message to City Hall and the province:

"They say and do things that look good to the media... The system is very broken... it's not them that is suffering... they're safe, they're warm."

"They don't know how the rest of us live and don't care to. It makes them uncomfortable... If I would have taken them (sleeping pills) at 10 and went to bed, I can't guarantee I would have been woken up."

46:50 Part 4- Degenerate criminals doesn't only victimize residents. Family businesses are also under siege by the lawlessness roaming Winnipeg streets.

She told Marty Gold it sounded like a car crashing into her restaurant. Then the owner of the Garwood Grill, closing up last Saturday, realized it was a goon trying to break in.

What's it costing her to fix the front door? LOTS.

Jan 17 2024- A Round-Up of Antisemitism in Winnipeg Education

Jan 17 2024- A Round-Up of Antisemitism in Winnipeg Education

While the mainstream media downplays and ignores the insidious infiltration of far-left and Islamist antisemitism into education institutions in Winnipeg like the University of Winnipeg Collegiate, we've led the way exposing it.

In Episode 5 of 2024, you'll hear about 3 more examples, detailing campus harassment, academic antisemitism, and even the intimidation of music teachers.

  • To send in story tips, sponsor podcasts, or contribute to our costs via Interac: martygoldlive@gmail.com

Dr. Haskel Greenfield, the head of the Jewish Studies department, challenged faculty members defending a Jew-hating nursing student who was suspended, stating:

"... she is only part of a hate-filled atmosphere that has been developing at the University of Manitoba"

"Are you even aware that Jews are afraid to display any sign of their Jewishness on campus these days?" Prof. Greenfield asked in his letter to the campus newspaper.

You'll hear how he reinforced a point made by Marty Gold about the way the narrative-driven media reports on antisemitism: by showcasing "a far-left element in the Jewish community (that) are not representative of the mainstream community, which is in fact very Zionist in its political orientation."

Prof. Greenfield maintained that "We all need to speak out to create safe space and learn to live together peacefully here on the Prairies and at the University of Manitoba."

13.30- The University of Winnipeg is also being challenged to confront antisemitism by a local Jewish publisher, Rhonda Spivak. She's asked some hard questions about a 'Palestine and Genocide' teach-in and roundtable held in November.

Marty Gold walks through Spivak's meticulous dissection of claims by the U of W President Todd Mondor the event fulfilled "an obligation on faculty to ensure that their conduct accords with University policy and other lawful limits on free expression".

In response, Spivak wrote:

"I ask the U of W President Mondor whether those who disagreed with the portrait of Israel as a colonialist/imperialist apartheid/genocide committing State were treated with respect and could "safely engage in respectful debate," as per your Nov 17 statement?"

You'll hear about a moderator and panelists who were so one-sided that anyone with opposing views about the October 7th attack by terrorists was accused of 'racism', booted off the Zoom feed, and vilified. And, Spivak asserted, the video of the event was edited to hide a claim- "the resistance is justified."

"Could it be she was spliced out because her views align with those of Hamas?... It’s no wonder Jew hatred is increasing in Winnipeg..."

MSM will never dare mention her question: "President Mondor have you so far effectively tolerated a climate of antisemitism by allowing the program to proceed in the fashion it did ?"

21.00 - The third example of antisemitism in Winnipeg education is from a local public school, where a representative from a major arts organziation tried to convince teachers not to include a particular song in band lessons. Wait till you hear why.

24:56 Part 2- What's coming up in the next few episodes?

Marty has the rundown- more about education in Manitoba, the race for the Progressive Conservative leadership, crime and public safety, and interviews with crime victims and newsmakers.

We are offering something with our investigations and reports that's not only unique, but it's necessary. MSM is failing you- while we are standing for you. Please support our platform today!

Jan 13 2024- Coun. Orlikow Gets Reprieve; Ethics Probe On Hold

Jan 13 2024- Coun. Orlikow Gets Reprieve; Ethics Probe On Hold

Only ActionLine.ca brought taxpayers the comments of Andrew Marquess, after a Manitoba court awarded him $5 million followinghis battle to get Parker Lands housing approved.

The ruling cited that City of Winnipeg planners engaged in “misfeasance in public office” against Gem Equities, and according to King’s Bench Justice Shauna McCarthy:

"The evidence is also clear, in my view, that the impetus and motivation for this deliberate interference with the plaintiffs’ applications were primarily the wishes and demands of the area councillor, and the desire of some public servants to accommodate those wishes.”

After our review of the Court findings- There’s 101 Reasons Why Winnipeg Council Must Review Orlikow’s Role In $5M Court Ruling - a formal complaint was filed by former Mayoral candidate Don Woodstock alleging that Coun. John Orlikow breached the City Code of Conduct.

The complaint was referred to an Edmonton lawyer, Jamie Pytel, because Integrity Commissioner Sherri Walsh declared she had a conflict of interest involving Orlikow.

According to her bio, Pytel "conducts investigations for municipalities that do not have an Integrity Commissioner and gives advice on issues involving Codes of Conduct for elected officials."

Woodstock says that on Nov. 20, Pytel told him she "would be in touch if you needed further information or have further information for me."

Last week, Woodstock asked her where the investigation was at. And the answer was, nowhere.

7:05 Part 2- Woodstock emailed Pytel on January 10 and asked, "Have you read the ruling in the Gem Equities/Andrew Marquess case?"

He also asked, "Now that Councillor John Orlikow is back on the job, is he now free to continue his ways that has lead the City of Winnipeg to lose a lawsuit that stated the City owes Gem Equities $5M of taxpayers' dollars...?"

While the second question could be seen as provocative, the first was entirely legitimate.

Instead of answering Woodstock, Pytel replied:

"Perhaps we can schedule a virtual meeting or phone call to discuss the status of this matter."

Something else Pytel said caught Marty Gold's attention. She claimed "this is a confidential process." He describes his own experiences with government complaint processes - and how what she told Woodstock simply isn't accurate.

  • To send in story tips, sponsor podcasts, or contribute support by Interac: martygoldlive@gmail.com

20:04 - You'll hear how the next morning, Woodstock refused to consider a phone call with Pytel.

With taxpayers footing her bill - and presumably Orlikow's - he insisted "this requires everything to have open communication, honesty, integrity and with full disclosure as to the status, outcome and remedies."

That afternoon, Pytel informed Woodstock that,

"I am suspending this matter until all proceedings regarding the legal action are exhausted to ensure that all parties may participate fully in a Code of Conduct investigation."

As Marty explains, that might seem like a decision made in response to being pressed for an update on her activities.

And, it's a pretty handy excuse to stall the complaint, considering that the Court of Appeal can't do anything to erase the emails, documents, depositions, testimony and other evidence about Orlikow's conduct. He is not a party to the proceedings as he was not a defendant, and the Judge did not mention the Code of Conduct.

So, we wonder, did Pytel even read the ruling? She made a point of not answering Woodstock's question. And if the appeal was an issue, why didn't she think of it on August 31st when the City filed it?

Jan 10 2024- Manitoba PC’s Ponder Path Forward

Jan 10 2024- Manitoba PC’s Ponder Path Forward

After two episodes about newsmaking doctors in Winnipeg and Victoria, and an ActionLine report about an antisemitic dentist, for the first time in 2024 we pivot to politics. Listen to our diagnosis of the issues in play for Manitoba Progressive Conservatives this weekend, as they sort out how to select a new leader.

9:11 Part 2 The analysis starts with a disgruntled print columnist who maintained that how a new leader gets chosen, is less important than the policy direction Tories will go.

That's putting the cart before the horse.

It's also a ploy to manufacture a choice for Manitoba voters between 2 left-wing parties, and freeze out traditional and ethnic conservatives.

The argument was invoked how the federal Conservative Party are "attacking institutions such as the Bank of Canada, the intelligence community and mainstream media".

Marty explains the typical gatekeepers complaint- that no one should allow discussions about the avalanche of failures from those sources - which includes the entry of foreign terrorist groups into Canada.

When you see a commentator claiming that the popularity of Pierre Poilievre is based on "demonizing progressive ideas as 'woke,' and providing a forum for socially conservative views", that's someone in fear of their employer losing their Trudough after the next federal election.

Another columnist demeaned conservatives who oppose carbon taxes and question whether Canada should remain in the Hamas-enabling United Nations - as though those beliefs don't represent thoughtful, concerned viewpoints. Instead, some pundits want the PC's to become NDP-Lite.

27.00 Hear what former MLA Kevin Klein believes: the most important decision is to restore trust in the way memberships are granted and ballots are counted. He cites the alienation of reliable Tory voters after the Pallister/Stefanson transition, which we've mentioned on previous podcasts.

In an open letter, Klein decried the proposed voting process put forward as "confusing and complicated, allocating ridings to a different number of points based on a variety of arbitrary thresholds... poorly thought out and confusing... they seem like a transparent attempt to tilt the playing field at the last minute."

He insisted the proposed rules members are to vote on this Saturday "do nothing to restore members' lost trust in the party, ensure that ballots will be accurately issued and collected with adequate time to count them, ensure that memberships are legitimate, and ensure that third-party oversight is in place."

Klein wrote, "Rather than tilting the playing field, we should focus on ensuring every vote counts."

That got a very public reaction from a long-time MLA.

31:23 Part 3- Steinbach MLA Kelvin Goertzen tweeted, "In general, although not without reservation,  I support the weighted riding system that has been put forward by an internal PC party review."

In a rebuke to Klein, he added, "I am NOT open (to) suggestions that the proposal was put forward specifically to benefit the candidacy of some over others."

Goertzen lamented that "we are losing the ability to disagree with people and ideas without having to lean on the crutch of a political conspiracy or dark forces at play."

You'll hear about another well-known party figure who disagreed with Goertzen but was not quite agreeing with Klein.

Hear why Braydon Mazurkiewich was thumbs down on the proposed rules, and his idea of a third option for the voting process.

The analysis ends with Marty's considered opinion, having followed politics since the days of Premier Walter Weir, on how votes should be counted for a new leader.

But he's not a member and it's just an outsider's opinion.

We open Episode 2 with a review of the great response to Episode 1 of 2024, about Dr. Joss 'Pollyanna' Reimer, who continues in the footsteps of WRHA leaders the public doesn't trust. There will be a follow-up...

7:34 Part 2- A Twitter post by Dr. David Jacobs, President of the Ontario Association of Radiologists, caught Marty's eye last week, and with good reason.

"Attached is celebrated Geriatrician Dr. Ted Rosenberg's letter of resignation to UBC Medical School. After 30 years of distinguished teaching, he no longer feels safe in the UBC environment."

When Marty read through the correspondence, he realized the doctor who took a stand against rampant antisemitism at the University of British Columbia was a former Joseph Wolinsky Collegiate schoolmate in Winnipeg- Teddy Rosenberg.

You'll hear about the career he built treating the elderly and keeping families together, and the recognition from his peers.

After an antisemitic petition signed by 200 med students and over 100 faculty members was launched in October, Rosenberg asked top administrators to rectify the toxic campus environment targeting staff and students who were Jewish or Zionists.

SEE ALSO: Meet Nanaimo Nikki, The Jew-Hating UBC Dental Instructor

His Nov. 29 letter to UBC president Benoit-Antoine Bacon and university brass stated, “This petition and other similar statements on campus, as well as the inaction by UBC, makes me wonder if antisemitism has become systemic in this institution.”

“Why do these efforts for diversity and inclusion come to an abrupt halt when it involves ‘including and protecting’ Jewish/Zionist students and faculty?”

Rosenberg wasn't wrong and they tried to blow him off.

Just before Christmas he and 283 physicians sent another plea:

“This is resulting in hate speech, student intimidation, and the feelings of many students and teachers that they are working in a toxic environment. Several of us have expressed concerns to you in writing and are waiting for specific responses."

After getting nowhere, Rosenberg showed more guts than every leader of the "organized Jewish community" in Canada has mustered - and quit the medical faculty on January 2.

You'll hear his dismantling of the cowardly academics hiding behind "DEI" programs- and how he searched high and low for any mention on the UBC websites of Jews or antisemitism, and found none.

“One third of the medical students and some faculty, have publicly expressed their contempt towards me, as a Jew. I cannot take the risk of being accused of implicit harassment or racism, which is indefensible, by a ‘triggered’ student.”

Marty reviews Dr. Rosenberg's letters and the crude behavior he described that UBS honchos refuse to confront. It's a pattern we are seeing from politicians, police and academic institutions across Canada.

Teddy Rosenberg is the hero we all need.

28:57 Part 3- The fig-leaf that DEI provides to attack Jews and Israel was the beginning of the end for Harvard President Claudine Gay. A key figure demanding accountability in Ivy League schools is Bill Ackman, a leading Jewish financier and philanthropist.

This weekend Ackman explained how the destructive nature of DEI in the higher education system "can convince a generation that some of us are oppressors, and others are the oppressed, and provide justifications for what kinds and what degree of violence and terrorism are appropriate tools to address this perceived oppression."

Marty discusses how he relates it to education and medical faculties, the justice system, and even voting rights. Ackman's wife is now under attack by Business Insider as revenge, and he's fighting back.

"Even the mafia operates with more dignity and respect for family, and I apologize to the mafia for the comparison."

The Jewish community in Canada needs more people like Teddy Rosenberg and Bill Ackman.

Jan 4 2024- Dr. Joss Reimer, The Pollyanna of Downtown Winnipeg

Jan 4 2024- Dr. Joss Reimer, The Pollyanna of Downtown Winnipeg

Season 4, Episode 1, Part 1- We are making a difference, as 2023 proved. Marty Gold thanks the audience and pledges to keep up the pace. Fan mail is reviewed, and then there's talk about the final episodes of 2023, and the first ActionLine.ca post of 2024- the Bobby Hull retrospective with guest Peter Young.

07:40 Part 2 - Pollyanna is a person with irrepressible optimism and a tendency to find good in everything. Also- "a sunshine-spreading orphan".

Enter Dr. Joss Reimer. On the morning of New Year's Eve, the local media darling started a Twitter thread:

"I work on Main street, north of the Disraeli bridge.  I run or bike to work.  People (usually people who do not walk around in that area) often tell me how dangerous that is.

Here is my experience:"

  • The Chief Medical Officer of the WRHA said she's "never witnessed any violence apart from cars."
  • "SUVs and trucks are a very real danger on all our roads"
  • "I'm left wondering how much the perception of danger downtown is just good old fashioned racism."

The message from the president-elect of the CMA, the national doctors body? If you're driving downtown to a game, concert, buffet at East India Company- YOU'RE the danger downtown. AND if you're afraid of being mugged or carjacked? You're a racist!

But a parody 'Bart Kives' account framed her "pillar of the community" comment precisely, as did others who refuted Reimer's woke derangment.

It's rare to see a public figure get so thoroughly slapped down for not knowing what they were talking about.

You'll hear about Marty's firsthand experience within 3 minutes at the Portage Place food court on Wednesday. Restauranteur Ravi Ramberran had just told CJOB: "It makes it hard for people to feel safe coming to work...this is the new normal now. I refuse to see that happen."

Reimer, who doesn't pay from her own pocket when windows are broken or doors are smashed, refuses to see it at all.

People asked if she's spoken with medical staff at HSC, or with women at all, about downtown safety. For instance: on Dec. 4, Romeo Chris Miles pleaded guilty to threatening an off-duty cop- with a machete.

He got a year of supervised probation despite persistently failing to comply with court orders, assaults, thefts, robbery, break-and-enter and thefts.

Five days later he was part of a kidnapping, sexual assault and robbery of a young woman, left in a downtown dumpster.

Would Dr. Reimer say that the victim's fear of that lifetime criminal with an IQ of 44 was "racist"?

26.20 Part 3- Among the 'racists' who challenged Reimer's gaslighting was a number of women who described averting naked men with knives, car-jackings, skywalk scares, and bear spray. One woman 'woke' the highly-woke Reimer up to their reality:

  • "I think this is an irresponsible post. You dismiss others’ safety concerns with such little regard simply biased on your own privileged experience"
  • "I work downtown and have for 18 years. Pre-covid was a way different vibe. People are now unpredictable..."
  • "if your whole point was really the jab at cars, and to point out how much you choose alternative transportation then just say it. At least then others aren't shamed"

32:29 - Part 4- A recap of the Top 10 episodes of 2023! The list included a transit union scandal, four interviews, election news, and East St. Paul parents defending Mother's Day.

Marty also points listeners to our Christmas Day column- which got a response from an MP and a City Councilor. He adds a concluding thought about functioning seniors in their sunset years kept in secure facilities while Miles was allowed out in public. Dr. Joss Reimer should answer questions about that, from a public health perspective.

Dec 31 2023- Who Are The Parents Of Violent Killer Teens, Asks Grieving Mother

Dec 31 2023- Who Are The Parents Of Violent Killer Teens, Asks Grieving Mother

The final episode of 2023 - and Season 3 - ties together our coverage of the explosion during the year of ultra-violent crime that leaves a trail of injuries, death and anguish at the hands of remorseless teenagers.

"We’ve seen that more and more often during incidents this year," said said Winnipeg Police Service spokesman Const. Claude Chancy. "It’s definitely something we are concerned about.”

With three 14 year olds, two 15 year olds, and a 16 year old to face charges in the murder of 27 year old Peter Filip outside a Logan Avenue beer vendor on Remembrance Day, his mother showed no hesitation in putting blame where it belonged:

“Parents have to be responsible for that, and who are the parents?” she said. It was shocking the media reported it, daring to air a view that didn't blame "colonialism", "capitalism" "root causes" or other far-fetched explanations for why 6 kids were roaming the streets looking for victims at 2 AM.

Marty Gold explains the trail of one death, 4 assaults, a sawed-off shotgun, and a barely-failed carjacking that proves soft-on-criminals legislation needs to be abolished. When will it be replaced with true deterrence and protection of the public from the outbursts of psychopathic teenagers.

7:49 Part 2- Crime Courts and Public Safety Update, sponsored by Jamrock Security.

- More on the community supporting the family of Ivan Rubanik, whose murder in Elmwood on his way to work is still missing some details. His accused killer, like the accused in another recent homicide, continued to rack up charges in the year after convictions for violent crimes but were not locked up. And they weren't the only ones exhibiting the catch-and-release pattern.

Before carjacker Ricardo Gomes fired a shot at a driver on Corydon who resisted, he also had priors. The drug addict was convicted of almost choking out a cop in front of her son, biting another and then got into it with a third. He skipped court. He had insisted to Judge Don Slough “I don’t want to be one of those people who are coming in and out of jail all my life.” But that's what he's become.

- The bizarre hostage-taking of four in West Broadway ended with police shooting a 52 year old man. He was a suspect in the death of a BC trucker who was found in the Manitoba Housing building at 25 Furby after going missing. The mystery started with the truck of Farah Mohamud being found on the parking lot of the Sherbrook Hotel 2 blocks away- where. listeners are reminded, the Langside mass murder case in November also had a connection.

- Marty explains, the system is falling apart, and does the math of how the 40+ homicide cases with so many defendants can result in more court trials than Wab Kinew's justice department can manage. He ran on the premise of being tough on crime- but his commitment may be overtaken by demands from his far-left hug-a-thug cabinet and a strained budget.

In 2024, TGCTS will continue to be a voice for victims of crime, the community looking over their shoulders, and survivors deserving justice.

Dec 28 2023- Brian Mayes Talks Gillingham, Housing and Goulet St.

Dec 28 2023- Brian Mayes Talks Gillingham, Housing and Goulet St.

Episode 38 features an interview with Brian Mayes, the Winnipeg council representative for St. Vital since a byelection November 2011.

In Part 1, he discusses his ward and his view on the first year of Mayor Scott Gillingham's term- "a very honest man" who knows how City Hall works, but they did have some heated dialogue about the federal strings-attached housing funding.

5.25 - "Change is hard is a pretty hollow, shallow argument", Mayes remarks, citing how city staff claims they don't get complaints about infill applications while council members get swamped.

"I think we got out-negotiated' by the Trudeau government, says Mayes, because the City was never going to get $192 million in funding. Gillingham still pitched it as a reason for councilors to support zoning process changes.

Mayes calls that deal "a loss of democracy here" as residents won't be able to file opposition to many projects anymore.

"The City put out an FAQ thing saying "does this mean there could be 4plexes everywhere?" and the answer "No!!"- clearly that's the exact federal wording... now you'll have the infighting of various councilors who voted for it trying to shape the thing so none of it affects them."

Mayes explains how defining the "800 meters to a bus corridor" could result in people trying to move bus routes and affect the exclusion of River Park South, and how "clumsy oversight" meant the Parker Lands project- "purpose built" for a Rapid Transit line - doesn't qualify under Trudeau's new rules for funding.

14:51 Part 2- Speaking of clumsy oversight, the Goulet bike lane road rebuild is a dysfunctional mess affecting a Truck Route his residents rely on. As reported on ActionLIne.ca, Mayes is going to speak with another council critic of the rushed project that has degraded a major route for a bike lane that isn't even open.

“You’ve been good at policing some of these projects.”

25.00 Mayes gets reminded by Marty Gold he was one of 7 current councilors who voted for the requirements for fairness to all stakeholders set out in the City Auditor's review of the Assiniboine bike lane debacle.

"Things are often obtuse at City Hall," Mayes notes. "I can ask... some of these routes have implications along multiple wards".

27.34: Mayes returns to the housing fund debate:

"I do worry about the long term impacts" and that "many of the fears were realized" during previous infill debates.

Reviving the Al Golden caution "the devil is in the details," a brief discussion of Golden's work on Council in St. Vital ward years before Mayes assumed the seat, and Mayes' tireless work to get running tracks added to City recreation assets- West End, you're next! - is part of the conclusion of the interview.

35:40 - Marty provides a closing commentary, mentioning a retro sports scandal he helped investigate about 30 years ago.

The shocking negligence and improper financial practices eventually resulted in the ouster of a provincial commission chair. Read it here: https://actionline.ca/2023/12/and-a-merry-christmas-to-you-bulldog/

Dec 25 2023 - More with Andrew Marquess, Newsmaker of the Year

Dec 25 2023 - More with Andrew Marquess, Newsmaker of the Year

In 2023 we ensured that the taxpayers of Winnipeg would hear from Andrew Marquess, the businessman who beat the City in court and proved that planning department bureaucrats were unfair and corrupt. Now, in our Christmas Day special, the owner of Gem Equities returns to the podcast!

Named our Newsmaker of the Year, Andrew Marquess updates TGCTS on the City response to his court victory and discusses, from a developer's point of view, Council voting to change zoning regulations to access federal funding in response to the national housing shortage.

Part 1- "It's business as usual" at 510 Main Street, says Marquess, as no heads have rolled despite the Court finding of misfeasance by senior officials and internal warnings about the misconduct.

As for municipal red tape slowing down housing starts: "I think the positive part is the federal parties are waking up and saying, this is something that's really important..."

"I don't think this is a Gold Star award that Winnipeg should be proud of, when you're featured in the federal Conservative's 'What went wrong in Canada' scenarios and Winnipeg's at the top of the class."

"They're saying the judge got it wrong, everyone got it wrong, everyone is wrong- but the City of Winnipeg."

  • Join the donors to our $1800 fundraising campaign!
  • Please review our top podcasts using the links on the Donate page, and send your donation from that page.\

15:15 Part 2 - We asked Marquess to respond to Winnipeg CAO Michael Jack. He had told CJOB that City planning was basically paralyzed and was appealing because the court decision undermined all their development processes.

He also spoke about immigration pushing the feds to find more solutions, the resurrection of wartime housing blueprints, and about how this might finally roll out. He's optimistic but notes, "do they ever get it right?"

Marquess says the City has to handle the challenges and needs some leadership and visionary thinking to put additional density in new locations, 'instead of pitting mature neighborhoods against lot-splitters."

28:35 Part 3- We close Episode 37 by recognizing Andrew Marquess as Newsmaker of the Year and the positive impact of our interview series with him. He's brought the issue of ethics to the forefront and shown you CAN fight City Hall !

Marty Gold ends the episode with some reflections of growing up Jewish in a Christmas-oriented Manitoba, his vivid memories of working on the holiday, and brings warm wishes to our listeners.

Dec 23 2023- No Excuses For Teens Accused In December Murders

Dec 23 2023- No Excuses For Teens Accused In December Murders

Two shocking, senseless murders have rocked Winnipeg before Christmas- and Episode 36 looks at the details and how the courts and provincial government failed the victims.

Part 1 - Public Safety update: The pro-Hamas protesters wanted to emulate the harassment tactics seen in Toronto but their plans didn't work. We have the details about the police making sure the Indigo bookstore on Kenaston was protected- and how the local Israeli community came out on Thursday in support of the retailer.

17:05 Part 2 - We add a few notes about how the anti-Israel extremists were forced to back away from a planned Saturday incursion into the Polo Park mall. We describe the actions taken on the Jewish side of the equation, and the divide in the community between do-ers and talk-ers.

21.30 - The killing of Ivan Rubanik in Elmwood, after his Ukrainian family came here a year ago fleeing the Russian invasion, was because the 'system' failed to remove a violent teenager who was clearly on an escalating criminal path.

Similar to Brent Meade, the accused in the Burrows murder last month, repeated incidents by 19 year old Ethan Gladu after a previous conviction weren't considered a reason to keep him off the street.

The savage murder of Rubanik at Talbot and Watt, on his way to work, happened despite a weapons prohibition on Gladu, and a curfew that did nothing to protect pedestrians during daytime.

We piece together the timeline of Gladu's charges over the last year, and the murder of his own brother by a 13 year old in 2018. You'll hear some caustic comments from 3 women about the deterioration of safety in Winnipeg.

35:06 Part 3- Has anyone asked, where was the 14 year old girl the night before she was killed on Graham Avenue?

While we don't know much about the 17 year old boy who stabbed her on Graham Avenue last Friday, we know about his court proceeding, the court appearance by his victim the day before he killed her, and that the same judge who released her with inadequate housing and social work supports one week also chaired the alleged killer's hearing the next.

The girl was a chronic runaway, coming from Northern Manitoba, on a waiting list for a fetal alcohol spectrum disorder assessment, and apprehended after 3 weeks hiding in a homeless camp at Osborne Bridge.

With that background, how was she released from secure custody, and ended up in downtown being murdered within 24 hours? Will anyone hold the judge accountable for her role? Hard questions, no answers, in this podcast.

We end with another report of public drunkenness and disorder in St. Boniface near the hospital, where despite removing the bus shelter, the partying for the derelict class continues.

Coming up on TGCTS:

A City Councilor reviews Year 1 of Mayor Gillingham, and addresses federal housing bribe tactics, transit woes, and our bike lane investigations.

Dec 19 2023- Bike Lane Plan Facing A Fight in Winnipeg’s West End

Dec 19 2023- Bike Lane Plan Facing A Fight in Winnipeg’s West End

Episode 35 is a special report about our coverage of Winnipeg's troubled bike lane projects. There's more trouble for the Moving on Marion scheme- and after an interview with a city councilor, we found trouble on the horizon for another City parking-killing project, after we clued in the area businesses.

When we interviewed Transcona Coun. Russ Wyatt on October 19, he had just heard something.

A favorite guest of ours on Kick-FM and on City Circus on Shaw-TV, Russ Wyatt was invited to explain why he raised the Osborne Village bike lane process with area Councilor Sherri Rollins at a committee.

7:04 Bike lane going where?? In the discussion with Marty Gold about the need to "change the culture" at City Hall, he interjected that he just found out about the next target of the urban visionaries- the street synonymous with Winnipeg's working class melting pot.

You'll hear the big reveal and the mutual concerns which led to us investigating.

8:16  We kept our eyes on it, and went down to Sargent Avenue.

Listen to the details: the West End Biz director confirmed something was in the air and that they hadn't been consulted. Business owners told TGCTS they reject any idea of eliminating parking on Sargent, as they already struggle with rampant theft, crime and inflation.

And another factor raised- bike lanes will impede police and emergency response in the West End and to Health Sciences Centre.

Marty does some educated guesswork of where the bike lanes would go, how gridlocked it would be, and why no one at 510 Main Street cares- but we do.

19:32  Part 2- Around the City, the Bike Lanes review:

  • In Wolseley- traffic jams every morning. How's that idling going for ya?
  • In Osborne Village- Stradbrook is now a narrowed clogjam, with parking in the area slashed by over 180 spots. As Wyatt pointed out, why are property owners treated differently for bike lane proposals than for local improvements?
  • On Provencher, the BIZ set the standard, and still are, for taking a stand that bike lanes should "strike a balance between promoting sustainable transportation and preserving the heritage and vitality of our local business community."
  • But on Marion Street a few blocks south, the Norwood Grove BIZ members were caught off-guard and kept in the dark, as we exclusively reported. We have exclusive details on how the City was forced to do another Open House just with them after our investigative series- and we learned the insincere consultation session in September made Marion St. merchants even angrier.
  • Then, hear all about the other half of 'Moving on Marion'- Goulet Street. We describe the fiasco left behind after the project started this summer before council approved the plan - see the photos at Goulet Bike Lane Barricaded, New Lanes A Treacherous Wreck
  • And a good news story- we report the latest from the Transcona BIZ. They caught on to what the City was up to, took a strong stand, and we report the result- the City backed off from taking away parking spots.

40:21-  Listen to more from Russ Wyatt: he agrees the principles of the Assiniboine Bike Lane audit - "we will never do this again" and to provide fairness for all stakeholders - should be enforced by the 7 current Council members who voted for it in 2012, including him.

But he stresses - the problem with these faulty bike lane projects starts at the top.

45:00 Part 3- Why hasn't the mainstream media reported on any of this? And, why we do.

Marty explains his extensive history at City Hall going back decades and as an advocate for the average Winnipegger and small businesses. Now, it's more important than ever for you to have a watchdog.

Unlike the narratives and agendas set out by newsrooms, we are focused on you and your family. If you value our role, please look at contributing with a donation or a sponsorship.

Dec 18 2023- Second Teen In 6 Months Murdered On Graham

Dec 18 2023- Second Teen In 6 Months Murdered On Graham

Episode 34 begins with thanking donors to our $1800 fundraising campaign. You can review our top podcasts using the links on the Donate page, and send support from there too.

Part 1 5.55- A 14 year old girl was stabbed and killed on Graham Avenue downtown, in broad daylight last Friday. Police are looking for a group involved in the 40th homicide of 2023.

In our Crime and Courts reports, we have continually raised the alarm about downtown safety, including in June: Violent Marauding Teens- And Pre-Teens - Sowing Fear Across Winnipeg

We covered the last murder of a teen on Graham Avenue: “What the hell is wrong with this city?” Swarmings & stabbings & try taking a bus

We've spoken about the ripple effect of rampant violence on the community. Hear how Friday's killing shocked a women who uses the Graham corridor to get to work in St. Boniface- and was already distraught about how dangerous St. B and all of Winnipeg has become.

13.30 - An update on the status of the suspects in the murder in St. James. One was arrested and seems to be a rapper; but unreported in MSM, the other suspect has warrants for a raft of charges even before the killing of Lawrence Evan Pruden aka "Rich Porter". Shootings and stabbings and the Corydon carjacking are why people are scared to simply walk to their cars in a lot of neighborhoods, let along go shopping.

22:00 Part 2 - Marty Gold tells of being recognized in The Hockey News. He was interviewed for a retrospective about Winnipeg trucking owner George Smith, who thumbed his nose at Alan Eagleson and became a hockey folk hero.

27.50 - Public Safety Update: A Focus on Antisemitism

The harassment tactics of Jew-haters gets established in other countries before migrating to Canada.

Hear how in the US, there were 199 incidents of bomb threats and swatting incidents. The list of states will astonish you.

- A former CTV reporter, Alan Fryer, made a scorching comment about the virtue-signaling Trudeau government, but calls by protesters inside Canadian shopping malls for the murder of Jews gets silence. "Your government watered these seeds."

- We bring details of the disruption of Christmas shopping and visits with Santa in 3 Toronto malls by the intimidation tactics of low-lifes who among other lies, claim "Jesus was a Palestinian."

What will Mayor Gillingham and Police Chief Smyth do when it happens here?

- Think we're safe? Four terrorists were arrested in Calgary, 3 underage. Then, listen to the story of an arrest of a teen in Ottawa, and how the mystified Iraqi father may have lied to Global News and have actually had a role in the radicalization of his kid. We draw comparisons to the un-investigated Jew-hating behavior of University of Winnipeg Collegiate athletes.

- Justin Trudeau and Wab Kinew thinks refugees from Gaza should be welcomed into Canada and Manitoba. The problem? 80% support Hamas. That's why no Arab country takes them in.

- Will the Liberal/NDP refugee program weed out antisemites and Christian-hating Islamists? Of course not. They won't act against the Islamists already here- still no arrests in the 'Hitler is coming video' proves that.

Then - We have more on the menorah removal at City Hall.

43:48 - The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg is under fire for going along with Mayor Gillingham's explanation of why the recognition of Chanukah was interrupted. Donors like Sandy Shindleman have questions.

Hear the letter sent to the Federation assailing their 'shtetl' mentality and weak leadership. MSM doesn't explain the organization only represents their 1300 donors, and not our 14,000 Jewish residents. We've asked their honcho for an interview.

This column in the Western Standard, asked "who's running the city? Cowards?" after the leader of the Israeli community was manhandled over a parking infraction. We learned who the rogue cop is.

Dec 11 2023- The Alt-Reality of Winnipeg’s Criminal Class

Dec 11 2023- The Alt-Reality of Winnipeg’s Criminal Class

Three recent cases- two homicides and a police shooting- are pieced together with ALL the details scattered across reports by an agenda-driven MSM.

We provide a full picture of the deaths on Burrows and Langside and the danger police faced in Fort Garry.

This Crime, Courts and Public Safety Update exposes how the Winnipeg media normalizes criminal behaviors, and how the courts fail to protect the public from shooters spiraling out of control.

Part 1- The city’s 33rd homicide this year was 20 year old Ava Marie Zaber on Nov. 21 in a house on Burrows Avenue. Police charged another 20 year old, Brent Jayden Meade with 2nd-degree murder, but not with any firearms offences.

The Winnipeg media said he has no gun priors, but what they didn't tell you is he's no stranger to guns- he posed with one for his Facebook picture when he was about 14 years old.

TGCTS reviews his long list of charges - 15 pending since August - which included break-ins, mischief, and threatening others. Even before his failure to comply with conditions and missing court, he already had convictions showing no regard for the consequences of breaching probation or court orders.

We break down the minimal fine Meade got into a per-charge cost since. It's about $7 - and allegedly, one human life.

14:50 Part 2 - CBC Buries The Lead After Wanted Criminal Shot Trying to Escape Traffic Stop

No reporters followed up on an interview CBC Manitoba published about the police shooting of Dustin Hatcher. That's how CBC got away with burying the incriminating evidence and painting Hatcher, a career criminal, as a victim of 'police violence'.

We explains the facts:

  1. The truck the cops hemmed in was stolen. CBC failed to ask Hatcher's girlfriend who gave it to her.
  2. She got out of the vehicle, "while Hatcher moved into the driver's seat."
  3. Warrants were out for Hatcher's arrest, but "He'd been planning to turn himself in after the holidays" claimed the girlfriend.
  4. "She tried to help Hatcher take off by holding back one of the officers on the driver's side."
  5. She heard "shots from the passenger side, before the truck drove into a fence."
  6. "She blames herself for Hatcher's death. "I got out of that vehicle, and I tried helping him get away."

Yet CBC highlighted protests that "they made Dustin look like he's a bad guy, and he really wasn't" and "disbelief at the way he's being portrayed by police." Another friend said the cops "need to be charged."

Puh-lease.

CBC: "Hatcher has faced dozens of charges and served time for offences including break and enter and theft over $5,000, dating back to 2002." They didn't even mention his Pembina Hwy. crime spree last winter that he was still facing charges for.

They also didn't report on the girlfriend's Facebook confession "we're not innocent"- but we do.

We dissect an Alt-Reality favoring criminals, trying to demonize police dealing with a wanted man trying to flee in a stolen truck in a back lane.

38:59 Part 3 - Did The Langside 4 Killer Have Help From His father?

Buried deep in the details of the background of accused mass shooter Jamie Felix, his psychotic episodes, alcohol and cocaine use, depression, assault conviction, and neglecting epileptic seizure medication, was a little-noticed CITY-TV interview with his father:

"Randall Chummy Fagnan, (who) says he was with his son and others at the time of the Nov. 26 shooting on Langside Street".

Yet it took 4 days for Felix to be apprehended. And when his father emerged, it was to make excuses for his son. And he's not the only one.

The former roommate of Jamie's twin brother "feels like he "slipped through the cracks" of the systems he looked to for help."

We compare the Alt-Reality of that claim with a court report that "he entered a residential addictions treatment program at the end of 2022, but left for a medical appointment one day and didn't return."

Dec 6 2023- Obby Khan Still Under Fire Despite Apology

Dec 6 2023- Obby Khan Still Under Fire Despite Apology

Politicians and newsrooms alike are over-run with confusion and cowardice as open Antisemitism collides with what used to be Canadian norms. Episode 32 begins with an overview of some recent examples:

- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau refused to join 15,000 people gathered in Ottawa on Monday to support Israel and Jewish safety in Canada. Recently he tried to lecture Israel about casualty reports from Hamas as Israel fights back.

We've published a takedown of Trudeau from Dr. Rafael Medoff, who cited how Canadian forces had no qualms about the civilian costs incurred in battles to defeat Hitler, in Italy and Germany.

https://actionline.ca/2023/12/killing-civilians-canada-should-recall-its-own-record-before-lecturing-israel-dr-rafael-medoff/

- Trudeau isn't alone in making things worse for Jews in Canada. Monday night CTV News did their part.

When Marty Gold challenged their description of the Ottawa rally as being 'pro-war', over 35,000 saw his tweet - and hundreds joined his call for Omar Sachedina to retract and apologize. Dean Skoreyko provided his formal complaint.

There’s been chants for “intifada revolution” in numerous cities at what are clearly hate marches targeting Jews, but never has CTV mentioned it to their viewers.

- Israel revoked the visa of a Canadian, Lynn Hastings, who is a UN Deputy Co-ordinator. The MSM won't report why: she supports UNRWA schools which promote genocide against Jews and refused to condemn Hamas.

18:28 Part 2- Tory MLA Obby Khan issued an apology for "failing to do my due diligence" before signing a letter of support for a U of Manitoba nursing student.

Her suspension was, as it turned out, because of her Jew-hating online posts and other unprofessional behavior. Instead of quelling the controversy, Khan is getting flak from prominent local Palestinians- part of his political base- for daring to call the student's actions antisemitic.

You will hear his apology, the Muslims who claim he betrayed them, the reaction from Jewish residents, and a letter Khan and PC leader Heather Stefanson received that revealed the Hitler-referencing, antisemitic comments of a local-Palestinian leader "which directly violate the IHRA definition of antisemitism adopted by the province during the PCs' tenure."

Khan had gladly posed with that person at the Legislature at his recent swearing-in, and the Jewish community had noticed. He's been challenged to publicly rebuke their online hate speech and the weekly rallies that showcase radical Islamist and Marxist speakers- who repeat blood libels against Israelis and Jews.

While members of the Jewish community at first rushed to thank him for his belated stand, they expect more of Khan and Stefanson. Will the Tories take that next step and denounce their "resistance" supporting political allies?

The letter also referred to a column by former PC MLA Kevin Klein. You'll hear his call for the Conservatives to show moral clarity and "to recognize clearly that radical ideologies like anti-semitism are spreading within our institutions, like our universities, and we need to fight back against that."

We have listener comments from Tory voters disgusted that Khan and Selkirk MLA Richard Perchotte were suckered into endorsing "The radical zealotry from the Palestinian mob."

Dec 5 2023- Transit Union Leaders Under Cloud As Contract Vote Begins

Dec 5 2023- Transit Union Leaders Under Cloud As Contract Vote Begins

At the outset of Episode 31, today's passing of a longtime friend, Mike Willis of Vancouver, and his struggle with addiction is sadly recounted.

Mike wrestled as Dropkick Murphy, a welcome presence in any locker room. A 2-time Canadian Jr. Heavyweight champion, he was a standout in the revival of pro wrestling events at Hastings Racecourse and Casino. For more on his passing, see this SLAM!Wrestling story by Greg Oliver.

12:26 Part 2- This week members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1505 are casting ballots after the City made a final offer for a new contract. Some members aren't happy with the way negotiations were handled and aren't so sure the union leadership can be trusted when they recommended a 'Yes' vote.

The "Report on Financial Impropriety" that a few drivers have seen outlines why:

A) The City had made allegations about possible wage overpayments to certain union officials in 2021-22 when representing the union at certain Committee meetings, and potential 'double dipping'' by them submitting time slips to the City for committee attendance and to ATU.

B) The then-ATU leadership were told by the International Vice President that members should only be told AFTER the union elections in December 2022.

C) Some of the officials under scrutiny were then elected to senior union positions, and the lid has slammed shut on any further discussion of the scandal with ATU members, claiming 'the matter has been resolved'.

Not so fast, says the report, penned by the former ATU President.

You'll hear how, "if confirmed by City officials" the implications of the double dipping includes:

  • inflating pensionable hours,
  • the Union and City each paying CPP, EI and Workers Comp premiums, and
  • " a real of perceived Conflict of Interest when top officials of the union are able to conceal misconduct which... would have resulted in termination of employment (for) an ordinary employee".

Listen to the conclusions reached in the report, asserting that three officials "concealed the truth from the Union and the City"; "fraudulently claimed payment from the union for time already paid by the City"; and "took advantage" of the Union and City not coordinating payments for committee work.

TGCTS heard from 2 drivers on this.

One felt it was a minor issue and expressed confidence in the officials.

However, another noted, “The meetings that happened last week were close to erupting. Arguing and people shouting . Blaming each other and almost coming to blows .”

As for the union leaders,

"The very people double dipping got voted into positions of power... They also seem too eager to accept what the city has offered. Whilst the membership is prepared to go on strike.

"We think that the city has probably applied pressure. Get this deal through and we’ll take no further action . But because the people under investigation are the people that would now be handling the investigation."

Dec 3 2023- More Mayhem: ER Nurses Anxious And Fearful

Dec 3 2023- More Mayhem: ER Nurses Anxious And Fearful

In Part 1 we provide a brief look at upcoming reports that - like this episode about unsafe working conditions for Winnipeg nurses - will follow-up on recent events and investigations featured on TGCTS podcasts.

During December, listeners will hear about the reaction to the belated apology of PC MLA Obby Khan for signing a letter of support for a Jew-hating U of M nursing student; the arrest of a suspect in the murder of 4 victims on Langside Street; and more news the MSM won't tell you about the dysfunctional, dishonest City of Winnipeg bike lane planning.

And there will be an update on the extremist, far-left groups fronting antisemitic Islamist marches in Winnipeg and across Canada- and their link to violent terrorist organizations.

14:35 Part 2 More Nurses In Unsafe Workplaces

A) A listener assisted a friend at Seven Oaks Hospital this week. They learned that with 50 people waiting for care, the staff said there was one doctor on duty. ONE.

B) The Manitoba Nurses Union posted an email from an ER nurse who is at her breaking point.

Hear how she had to call the cops EVERY NIGHT to remove violent dangerous patients who refuse to leave when discharged "who all had histories of violence to ER/UC staff."

"I'm scared I'm going to be physically injured. I have psychosomatic symptoms thinking about going to work, and anxiety before my shifts start."

Sick patients "left due to the vulgarity" of derelicts and addicts: "I was called multiple expletives loudly in the waiting room on 3 separate occasions last night"

"There is more value placed on meat at Superstore than people who have chosen to make it their careers to help people."

C) Marty Gold reviews the comments on her plea for help, including from a husband of an HSC ER nurse, who painted an even bleaker picture. He alleged:

"These problems are exacerbated by the street drugs that patients are allowed to leave for hours with open wounds to obtain, or are brought in by guests."

Should nurses finally invoke the law about unsafe workplaces and refuse to work their shifts? He thinks so. Another person noted, "Not only does it affect nurses but further traumatizes patients… who would want to become a nurse when these are the working conditions!"

32:00 Part 3- In wrapping up, you'll hear about a breaking story we will have in the next 48 hours, involving a leaked report alleging that impropriety by Transit union honchos was covered up.

Some drivers believe the allegations may put the ATU leadership in a conflict of interest, as they are urging members to vote to accept the final contract offer of the City instead of going on strike. As if transit service in Winnipeg needed more problems.

Nov 30 2023- Stefanson Says Obby Khan Apologized For Support Letter, But He Hasn’t- Yet

Nov 30 2023- Stefanson Says Obby Khan Apologized For Support Letter, But He Hasn’t- Yet

The Progressive Conservatives are trying to unsnarl two members from a letter of support for a suspended U of Manitoba nursing student, after MLAs Richard Perchotte (Selkirk) and Obby Khan (Fort Whyte) seemingly didn't realize the "anti-Israel" activist posted a Nazi cartoon and antisemitic content to describe the Israeli military and government.

And while PC leader Heather Stefanson claimed "both individuals have since apologized", according to sources Obby Khan was taking his time and was waiting until Thursday to find the words.

Part 1- We provide the background of the president of the U of M Nursing Students’ Association, Arij Al Khafagi, and review a Free Press interview where she played the victim.

She went full Pallywood in describing herself as a "humanitarian by heart" who "shares the perspective of unity and humanity"- as long as it paints Israel as oppressor and the genocidal Gazan society as oppressed. She even bragged she had Jewish friends on the far-left, after senior administrators held her accountable for posting cartoons that, as Marty Gold explains, breached the IHRA definition of antisemitism.

Citing "discriminatory remarks and demonstrating wider unprofessional conduct" as well as her Instagram antics, College of Nursing officials iced her student status and she became a cause celebre among the local Pro-Palestine mob.

As part of a campaign to salvage her academic year, MLAs were solicited to send a letter asking Advanced Education Minister Renee Cable to intercede and get the Jew-hater back into classes.

Opposition critic Perchotte, along with Khan, signed a letter to the Minister that complained "it sends an unacceptable message to academically penalize a student for expressing herself... the same passionate nurses that our healthcare system so desperately needs."

17:30 Part 2- You'll hear the apology sent by Richard Perchotte to a Jewish family where he admitted, "I failed to get the details before signing", and insisting "the antisemitism posts are against the belief of my party, my leader and myself".

Five hours later, Stefanson followed up, assuring the family that "As soon as it was brought to my attention, I made clear that this does not reflect the sentiment of our PC Party."

The former Premier continued "Both individuals have since apologized."

But no one seemed to have heard a word of contrition from Khan on Wednesday. "Where's Obby"? asked one listener.

Party insiders told TGCTS if Khan's waiting until Friday to do it, that's another in a long line of questionable decisions the Tory star has made that undermine his credibility with the rank and file, after he was a major focal point of the losing election campaign.

As we report, while Khan tries to play politician with local "pro-Palestinian" figures, at least one he's been photgraphed with is believed to have been seen in a video threatening Winnipeg Jews where calls are heard celebrating Hitler and Hamas. That video is still being investigated by Winnipeg Police.

Pro-Hamas marches continue to attack Canadian values and villify Israel's right to self defence. The pro-Intifada sentiment was loudly proclaimed when the rail line was blocked on November 20. There's a morally deceptive 'progressive' movement funded by Iran and other anti-West agitators who want to turn our society against the concept of "Never Again".

We've been seeing political cowardice, not leadership, in Winnipeg. Will the media ask Obby Khan to repudiate the "anti-Zionist not antisemite" radicals in our community, and denounce the weekly marches of terror-supporting "decolonizers"?

Or will he continue to 'go along to get along' with antisemites?

Nov 28 2023- Langside Murders Derail “#3 Most Liveable” Lie

Nov 28 2023- Langside Murders Derail “#3 Most Liveable” Lie

Episode 28 is a Crime Courts and Public Safety report: shocking developments in Winnipeg have submarined a public relations effort by prominent officials to portray our city as "the best blend of everything Canada has to offer."

A Saturday Globe and Mail clickbait article of "Canada's most liveable cities" placed Winnipeg at #3 Overall. WRHA head honcho Dr. Joss Reimer took to Twitter to cheerlead the rankings. But while Reimer, Mayor Scott Gillingham, and the urban visionary messiahs hopped on the bandwagon - "#1 for raising kids!" - another set of 'data-driven rankings' exposed the absurdity of their campaign. Because as the Globe piece said,

"Even if you could afford to live there, would you want to?"

Marty Gold reveals the Crime Severity Index and the inconvenient facts that MSM won't tell Winnipeg. You'll hear how just how violent StatsCAN says Winnipeg scores at after the 8 year term of Brian Bowman as Mayor, and which categories we are shamefully number one in. This is his legacy.

Among neighborhoods with a violence score over 700, Winnipeg make up 9 of the most 10 dangerous in the country - and 17 of the worst 26. And at number 26: West Broadway.

16:57 Part 2 - We recap the mystery surrounding the shooting spree inside a Langside St. rooming house on Sunday morning - with unreported details of the history of the property and of the drug-dealing past of one of the 4 victims.

A local newspaper managed to print 2 different versions of life on Langside, but only one is correct. We compare a local government-funded community patrol claim that "West Broadway is normally a pretty quiet neighborhood" with the lived experience of a mother who "has heard yelling and fighting and gunshots often in the area." You can decide who lied.

Also- an unaccomplished Liberal MP from gang-ridden Surrey, BC, tried to twist the killings into an online attack on Trudeau's opponents - and in short order Ken Hardie was exposed as a total moron for even suggesting the killings were "far-right".

Meanwhile, a suburban City Councilor got the same treatment from critics for inserting the dog-whistle word "hate" into his post, which even riled up a usually mild-mannered downtown businessman. Hear all about it.

38:04 Part 3 - Court time is coming up for the Hamas-supporting "Queers4Palestine" and the other radical antisemites in Winnipeg.

The railroad companies want a court injunction to stop further interference with their operations.

Guess what the train-blockers were chanting for on November 20th? That's right, more killing of Jews. And they aren't alone.

As you will hear, TGCTS has learned Winnipeg police are investigating an online hate-spouting video that included a well-known Winnipegger among a group praising Hamas and Hitler.

Of course, they'll claim they're just "pro-Palestinian".

In conclusion, Marty warns that there's a morally deceptive movement funded by Iran and other anti-West elements who want to turn our society against the concept of "Never Again".

Don't fall for it.

Nov 22 2023- Elon Musk Calls Children's Hospital Trans Fundraising Pitch "Unconscionable"

Nov 22 2023- Elon Musk Calls Children's Hospital Trans Fundraising Pitch "Unconscionable"

Usually, when an internationally famous or prominent person talks about Winnipeg, the local media falls all over each other to get the news out. But when it goes against their promoted narrative, the "professional journalists" pretend it didn't happen.

In Episode 27, you'll hear what the media didn't want you to find out about a "gender-affirming" fundraising pitch the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba attached to their Dr. Goodbear brand.

16:38 Part 2- On November 15 a Twitter/X thread was started that intended to portray their woke credentials:

At Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba we celebrate diversity and strive to be inclusive and supportive of everyone’s identities. On #TransgenderAwarenessWeek we are sharing information on gender-affirming medical care that supports youth health and wellness for kids in MB.

After citing "international guidelines for supportive care for transitioning youth", what was being touted shocked Winnipeg donors: Mary is a 10-year-old, who just wants to feel like a “real girl,” in her body and thanks to her family's unwavering love and support, together they are on a gender-affirming path to make her feel more authentically herself.

Readers were directed to a link about the child's "journey" along with "tips to be a gender-affirming ally": http://goodbear.ca/Mary

The next day, the campaign got worldwide notoriety, when the woman who operates Libs of Tik Tok told her followers: "The kid worries about never having a baby but the hospital claims it doesn’t matter" because "her plans to be a famous actress won't allow time to be a mom anyway."

We raise questions about 'health professionals' catering to the imagination of a 10 year old, the role of the parents who claim they knew their son was "trans" since age 5, and the ability of that child to weigh the lifelong pharmaceutical and surgical consequences of "a future aligned with her true self".

People from Manitoba and beyond unleashed strong criticism that any of those factors had been properly assessed for "Mary".

One of those reacting was Twitter/X owner Elon Musk, who described what he read in the article as "Unconscionable."

Listen to the legitimate concerns and questions about the Foundation promoting 10 year olds making life-altering decisions, with one noting "All of the radio stations here keep taking part in fund raisers and lotteries to raise money" for the charity.

No wonder the Winnipeg media didn't want the public to know.

The ratio on the PR misfire was so overwhelmingly negative- with only 37 'likes' on over 630,000 views- the Foundation braintrust rushed to restrict replies within 2 hours of Chaya Raichik shining a light on it (her post about 'Mary's Story' has over 2.5M views).

We compare this to Louisville where even "trans-affirming" Dr. Adam Neff, who admits to having a 7 year old patient, has required criteria:

"You need to meet diagnostic criteria for gender dysphoria. Need to understand the risk benefit, informed consent, all of that. If there are mental health concerns, make sure that they are being addressed."

We list the countries in the EU that have barred use of puberty blockers outside of clinical trials, the growing number of people who undergo excruciating detransition, and ask if Foundation CEO and President Stefano Grande even knows or cares. We know the Winnipeg media doesn't- even after Raichik called the Children's Hospital program "child abuse and all these doctors belong in prison", and Elon Musk called it "Unconscionable".

In Winnipeg, that's "#NotNews".

37:31 Part 3- Justin Trudeau forks out up to $30,000 a year to his approved media reporters. Episode 27 is another example of a story they won't report.

Nov 20 2023- Chaos At St. Boniface ER Far Worse Than The Grace

Nov 20 2023- Chaos At St. Boniface ER Far Worse Than The Grace

We open Episode 26 with an acknowledgement to the 17th anniversary of our launch on 92.9 Kick-FM.

Our deepest appreciation to all our supporters, contributors, producers, advertisers and donors through the years.

8:56 Part 2 - Last Thursday the Free Press published a story about "the chaos at Grace Hospital" based on a tip from a patient.

That same day, one of our listeners was in the St. Boniface Hospital and had their own tip about going to the Tache Ave ER:

"THERE IS NO POINT OF CALLING AN AMBULANCE JUST STAY HOME AND DIE!"

Marty reviews her emails from the ER, and the conditions she endured and witnessed. You'll hear about filthy conditions, the lack of decent food, her 15 hour wait for a room, and the "15 Code Blues."

- The constant arrival of drug addicts needing immediate treatment for their self-inflicted overdoses has created a backwards dynamic for ER patients at St. B. - "Don't think for a minute you will get the care you need."

"Nobody can do their job as they are being called every 10 mins to resuscitate, the security is all being called to ER waiting room or ladies bathroom or the bathroom in the waiting room."

When she got back home almost 24 hours later, she concluded:

"All I can say is many good people and old people are dyng while addicts are getting TOP NOTCH CARE AND MONOPOLIZING ALL THE DOCTORS AND STAFF."

One example was when a girl was stabilized and refused to be discharged. Hear about the violence and the number of nurses and security guards required to get that methed-out woman under control.

And as we learned, the St. B. nurses have to deal with dangerous out of control characters on the way to work.

Part 3 26:33- The Manitoba Nurses Union posted that members working day and evening shifts are being put in peril by the lack of parking in the Hospital district. An MNU member stated:

"It's dangerous as there are lots of people wandering around, high on drugs and whatever else.... what about our patients?? and visitors??"

This is a topic that TGCTS alone in the media landscape has focused on, especially with the City skipping any genuine consultation with those Hospital workers, neighborhood businesses, and residents as they ram bike lanes onto Marion and Goulet, aiming to erase yet another 99 parking spaces in the area.

St. B residents, hospital employees and former employees added their perspective to the MNU announcement- including the muggings bike riders working at the hospital have suffered.

We have the sky-high crime rates in the district and an idea to convert a rarely-used park to accommodate the MNU concerns.

Silent in all of this is the area councilor, Matt Allard, who champions rigged bike lane programs over business, hospital and public safety even though as one nurse observed "Most cyclists I see in downtown St B seems to be addicts."

Coming up-- Yet another hospital in Winnipeg is beset by controversy; Antisemites continue to ramp up harassment of the Jewish community and now, public infrastructure; Opposition is building against Mayor Gillingham's rush to change zoning rules to access federal cash- which neighborhoods will be the losers?

Nov 14 2023- At Night, The Lights Are Out All Over Winnipeg

Nov 14 2023- At Night, The Lights Are Out All Over Winnipeg

Almost simultaneously this weekend, Facebook groups from 2 neighborhoods voiced the same concern- "No Street Lights"

In River Heights and St. Boniface residents started piecing together what they- and Marty Gold- have noticed for weeks and months.

Episode 25 compiles those observations into an undeniable conclusion: Manitoba Hydro is failing to provide an essential safety service, and City Councilors who mouth platitudes about "public safety" aren't standing up to be counted.

From Grant to Tache and from Corydon to Norwood Flats, the street lights aren't on. And it isn't just in those districts - from the West End to the Main Street strip, areas where fear of break-ins and muggings is already peaking, darkness looms over anyone needing to walk home from a late night shift or to catch a bus.

And 311 won't lift a finger to help -Marty Gold has the details, including how both the City and Manitoba Hydro discourage residents wanting to report the dangerous failures. It's outrageous, and Winnipeggers deserve better.

16:53 Part 2 - Crime Courts and Public Safety Update, sponsored by JamRock Security

On Sunday we saw the evidence that Winnipeg is well on the way to becoming the new Detroit. Whether it's a daytime triple stabbing in Osborne Village or an evening shooting near Health Sciences Centre, the neighbours both said the same thing - 'we gotta move'.

TGCTS reviews the details of the stabbings and the stabber, who seems linked to the homeless encampment near the Osborne Bridge. What don't city officials mention when they discuss "services" provided free of charge to those camps?

Osborne Village has had an 82% increase in crime since 2019. Will the area MLA - a certain Manitoba premier - and the area councilor take a stand for the people who thought going to the drug store was a safe decision?

Here's what one of their Village constituents, a father with small children told the media:

“What kind of human wants to live in this kind of environment, where you could be subject to a random variable. I don’t know what to do anymore. It’s just a constant issue.” ******

Coming up:

  • Opposition is building against Mayor Gillingham's rush to meet federal demands and change zoning rules to access federal cash- which neighborhoods will be the losers?
  • Is City Hall trying to sneak another bike lane project past a local Biz Association? We are on the case.
  • Support for a banned Islamist terror group was on display in Winnipeg- will the authorities take action?

Nov 12 2023- High School "Strike For Palestine" Next Wave In Winnipeg Antisemitism

Nov 12 2023- High School "Strike For Palestine" Next Wave In Winnipeg Antisemitism

Episode 24 provides a brief overview of the ramping up of Jew-hating marches and rallies around the world and in Canada.

As Tristin Hopper noted:

"If you're referring to a protest that just wants to "stop the violence" in Gaza, you're referring to something that doesn't exist. By my read, there hasn't been a single "pro-Palestine" rally in this country that didn't carry a strong undercurrent of destroying Israel."

Part 1- Cross-country Review:

- a Hamas ally, the Samidoun group, continues to hold antisemitic protests in Vancouver;

- an MP shamed "pro-Hamas protestors in Edmonton who celebrated the slaughter of Israeli civilians and called for a new intifada" and mocks his critics;

- in Toronto crowds chanted in Arabic "smash the Zionists head" as Jews in that city hid their mezuzahs, saw their businesses targeted by mobs, and a school kid was told by a classmate 'do not look at my eyes, You are a Jew and inferior to Muslims'.

15:27 Part 2 - A CAF Vet Tells Defence Minister a Winnipeg Story

A Twitter thread addressed to Bill Blair explains why, in 2018, the first public Menorah displayed by the CAF needed to be protected and secured instead of being placed outside the chapel. Hint: it wasn't because of "Islamophobia".

23.30 - Winnipeg Police met with the Jewish community and it couldn't have gone worse. We have the details.

- The Jewish Federation, which has failed for years to represent the interests of local Israelis, arranged a 'safety meeting' last Wednesday but didn't prepare the cops for what "diversity" actually means in our Jewish community. The police got a earful in the Q and A because Israelis in Winnipeg take the harassment and antisemitic acts a lot more seriously than the 'organized Jewish leadership' and demanded protection.

- On Friday, a vigil in Memorial Park for the hostages kidnapped by Hamas was harassed, and called 911. Unlike the corporate media- we tell what happened.

** We are YOUR watchdog! Support our work via paypal.com/paypalme/MartyGoldMedia **

37:00- Part 3 - Local examples of Jewish students in Universities and public schools being intimidated

- Retired lawyer Bill Narvey repeatedly challenged the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg to confront anti-Israel hate among faculty and student activists and published in college newspapers, noting "there have been more than several antisemitic confrontations against Jewish students." Will the Federation do anything? Based on the incident with the U of Winnipeg Collegiate basketball team, hell no.

- We cite examples from 2 school divisions of Jewish parents complaining about offensive antisemitic conduct - including chants by students and comments by a teacher- and being ignored.

-   There is a "High School Strike for Palestine" walkout on Monday being fronted by 'Queers for Palestine' and other groups under the guise of "anti-racism" to indoctrinate kids in "Anti-Zionism".

We name the 4 schools initially recruited to demand "recognition of Israel as a settler colonial illegal occupation." Are teachers involved? cause that's what we heard.

- What will school officials, police, RCMP, and Justin Trudeau do if support is espoused for banned terror groups like PFLP, which was seen at the Sunday #CeasefireNow march? It was extolled online by a former city council candidate. Are terrorist enabling groups like Samidoun behind the high school protest, preparing more pro-terrorist signs to be toted along by our children and spread hate?

From a parent: "Students who are not participating need to be protected. The province & the city need to ensure resources are dispatched to every school where this is taking place (& hopefully the bill sent to organizers). Call Nello Altomare Manitoba Minister of Education Phone: 204-945-3720 "

Nov 9 2023 - South Osborne Pans Gillingham's Housing Plan

Nov 9 2023 - South Osborne Pans Gillingham's Housing Plan

With $192M in Trudough on the line, Mayor Scott Gillingham announced he wants Winnipeg to change zoning regulations for housing. These changes would allow housing of up to 4 stories within 800 meters of transit corridors and up to 4 units on a single lot.

CTV reported: “Gillingham said all would happen without the need for a public hearing or zoning application approved by city council.” Not so fast, said St. Vital Coun. Brian Mayes.

But the Mayor retorted, "It's going to be very gradual, I don't think we should expect to see, you know, four plexes popping up all over the city immediately."

What isn’t gradual is the timeline of the new bylaw. As property owners realized it's only 3 weeks, they spoke out.

In Part 1 of Episode 23 we review an email sent to councillors, that used St. James as an example:

Scope: “Would Ness Avenue be considered a frequent transit corridor? If so, almost all of St. James-Assiniboia would be eligible for four-storey complexes.”

Public Consultation: “There is no time prior to vote for councillors to present this issue to their ward residents and obtain their feedback and concerns in a series of community forums. This would be a major change in practice with significant neighbourhood impacts. Less than three weeks from beginning to end.”

Process: “Councillors voiced frustration with infill being built outside the spirit of the guidelines at the last council meeting. What could happen with future developments without the existing processes? Would there still be an appeal process?”

Noting potential impacts to sewer and water or overland flooding, the key question was, “Would the mayor and councillors want a 4plex built on either side of their homes?”

8:17 - Hear from Bev Pike, coordinator of the South Osborne Residents Group. She was on TGCTS during the 2022 civic election: South Osborne Rep: Next Mayor Must “Be Brave” And Fire City Planners

Her message is that City planners and Councilors ignore fair consultation already to favour developers, and even more corruption will result from Gillingham's proposals. "He's implying all sorts of things without evidence... we smell a rat."

Here's their inventory of laws broken from 2011- she says it hasn't gotten better since:

https://southosborneresidentsgroup.wordpress.com/what-we-do/research/winnipeg-laws-public-consultation/

Bev maintains there are 4000 empty housing units in Winnipeg, undercutting the 'Urban Visionary' argument the City needs to add 15,000 units to current planned housing starts.

"We see all kinds of shenanigans... And it's really really hard to fight this level of corruption especially when your own councilor (Sherri Rollins) won't represent their voters."

19:49 More from Bev Pike- her stark warning for all residents to defend their rights- before Council votes.

1. Beware emotional blackmail.

2. Never accept insults like NIMBY.

Citing how overbuilding causes sewage backups in Lord Roberts, she reinforces that these plans are based on "ruining all the mature areas... for developer profit. That's all it's about." She reminds us what Harvey Smith said about backroom horse-trading that gets councilors to sacrifice neighborhoods.

When Marty Gold asks where the skilled trades people will materialize for these projects, Bev tells of the dangerous shortcuts she's seen already.

34:47 -Marty closes Episode 23 by noting the block-busting and demographic changes Gillingham is rushing through to help the feds- "It just stinks."

There's a scramble among Councilors to get a grip on the growing discontent- let them know what you think!

Nov 6 2023- St. James Homicide Caps Off Rash Of Shootings

Episode 22 opens with a brief look towards important civic issues TGCTS will be diving into over the next few weeks, including resuming our interview series with Andrew Marquess of Gem Equities. Also, we'll be discussing potential impacts on the quality of life for residents of established neighborhoods if density-enabling changes to zoning and building regulations demanded by Mayor Gillingham are passed.

There will also be continuing coverage on ActionLine.ca about ongoing incidents targeting the Winnipeg Jewish community.

We provide the kind of investigations and analysis that MSM won't. We are your watchdog on City Hall! Support our work via paypal.com/paypalme/MartyGoldMedia

6.00 - Crime Courts and Public Safety Update, sponsored by JamRock Security

When crime affects people you know, places you shop, and your own neighbours, it resonates. A CFIB survey says over 50% of Manitoba businesses have been affected. Marty reviews a story about the costs of public disorder incurred by Vernaus Autobody in South Point Douglas, an area we've covered extensively.

Meanwhile, near the St. Boniface Hospital, frustration with 'petty crime' led to warning posters about one late night perp. Area Councilor Matt Allard maintains his silence. Violence and arson don't affect the Goulet bike lanes, so he won't speak up.

21:03 Crime Part 2

Shootings became almost a nightly occurrence.

- A north end home invasion where a Bannerman homeowner was almost killed

- A Halloween night murder in North Point Douglas (not a shooting) with 2 women now charged. We have some background on one of the 20 year olds accused.

- A woman wounded on Garry St. downtown near police HQ

29.00 Hear about the trail of evidence markers leading to Portage Avenue in St. James, and the colourful social media trail about the deceased that hints at how 27 year old Lawrence Pruden, also known as Rich Porter, met a violent end.

His vehicle was peppered with bullets. It looks like he was driving and fired at from the roadway, so technically not a drive-by, but still looks gang-related.

33.40 - A family in River Heights needs your help after a fire destroyed their home.

The details include how Garrett, the eldest son of Brett and Lyndsay Zoratti is now in a medically-induced coma as doctors try to save his life after he rushed back into the burning house to rescue his younger brother Emmett.

Nov 2 2023- Will A Downtown Drug Injection Site Be “Safe”?

Nov 2 2023- Will A Downtown Drug Injection Site Be “Safe”?

Episode 21 reviews a heated online debate about the mandate Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew gave his new Health minister to establish a supervised drug consumption site in downtown Winnipeg. This, after criminal behavior and social disorder has helped drill attendance of the NHL Jets to record lows.

Citing the NDP policy directive, a former city councilor tweeted:

"In case you were lacking in reasons to NOT go to downtown Winnipeg—here is another one."

A local sportswriter portrayed that point of view as uncaring, and claimed that critics of the proposal to enable addicts "have no clue what they have against them."

Marty Gold reviews the replies and back-and-forth debate that demonstrated that in fact, Winnipeggers have very good reasons- including a Stanford study that "points towards safe injection as a grower of drug addiction and crime. Not a preventive solution."

NDP apologists hate when people ask if a downtown site will negatively affect public safety as it has in other Canadian cities. But would Bernadette Smith, Nahanni Fontaine or Wab Kinew would ever live next to one?

At issue is whether overall, disease transmission, health outcomes and addiction treatment uptake actually improve, as "Recent analysis of the population-level effects of overdose prevention sites and supervised consumption sites in B.C found no changes to trends in monthly hospitalization or mortality rates."

Are these sites a make-work project for the "Harm Reduction" industry? They already abandoned any accountability for used needles on our streets, as we reported 4 years ago.

22:38 Part 2

We follow up on last week's ActionLine round-up about antisemitic incidents being investigated by the Winnipeg police - read it here

https://actionline.ca/2023/10/cops-investigating-10-hate-crimes-many-targeted-pro-israel-jews/

- Hear about plans for rallies coming up, and the plan to target the offices of a Jewish MP and the US Consulate.

- A brief round-up of Jew-haters caught in the act in the US and Canada, and the slanted pro-Hamas language used by the BBC and emulated by other "trusted news organizations." Hear how Campaign Against Antisemitism @antisemitism is standing up against biased police in the UK who fear the Islamist mob and prevent Jews publicizing the Oct. 7 hostage-taking by terrorists.

- The TGCTS podcast was first to report on a Jewish home in River Heights being shot at. This week we reveal that Jewish students in Winnipeg are being spit on and harassed, and are fearful of repercussions if they report the assaults to authorities. How will Wab Kinew's Education Department respond?

43:00 Part 3 - Hamas vows to repeat their slaughter of Jews

At least 2 journalists in Canada claim to be victims of "Islamophobia" after being fired after celebrating the butchering of innocent civilians as an act of "resistance".

Meanwhile Prime Minister Trudeau, who has thrown billions at Jew-hating regimes overseas, holds selective, unannounced meetings with the Hamas sympathizers while the NDP caucus that props up his government assails Israel for defending their country. What does "proportionality" mean to "progressives"?

In conclusion, listeners are told how Jewish Canadians now fear for their personal safety, and are asked the question- what would you have done in the 1930s when Jews were threatened and attacked? Is it what you are doing today?

Oct 23 2023- "Randomly Wiping Out Parking" For Bike Lanes Must Stop, Says Coun. Wyatt

Oct 23 2023- "Randomly Wiping Out Parking" For Bike Lanes Must Stop, Says Coun. Wyatt

In Episode 20 we interview Transcona Councilor Russ Wyatt, following up on his remarks at a Public Works committee meeting challenging the anti-car agenda of Ft. Rouge rep Sherri Rollins.

Wyatt spoke out against the bike lane and road closure demands of Rollins, and wants the City to adapt a local improvement petition process to get stakeholder approval of bike lanes, instead of "randomly wiping out parking for residents and small businesses."

4:38 - Wyatt explains why he questioned Rollins about the loss of Osborne Village parking for new bike lanes:

- The parking management plans for new developments were approved when hundreds more public parking spots were available. Wyatt asked Rollins if the plans are being revised, and she fumed.

- Hear him blast the faux "public consultations" held in the Village and in St. Boniface; he complains the City is telling residents and mom & pop shops "this is happening whether you like it or not."

- "Other cities have established programs to upgrade intersections along major regional streets, we're doing the exact opposite."

- The City has $180M to properly repair every sub-par street, and treat business and home owners fairly, "if we have the vision and political will to do it."

Marty points out, the MSM has defended the rigging of the bike lane process, which is counter-productive to the public interest.

16:40 Part 2 with Coun. Russ Wyatt

- Wyatt confirms that City Councilors were never informed that 99 parking spots were being erased around Goulet and Marion for bike lanes in the St. Boniface Hospital district, and never heard of a plan to remove parking on Traverse.

- From Arlington in the west end to Youville in St. B, the total parking loss for bike lanes is almost 400 parking spaces. No one could have run for Mayor on that platform and win.

- Wyatt says that Mayor Scott Gillingham promised the Chamber of Commerce he'd be focused on 'customer service'. But instead, small businesses are being hammered by a biased bureaucracy.

"The Goulet project could have been stopped by this Mayor... I don't know why the tail is wagging the dog." said Wyatt,

24.00 Hear the roll call - 7 of the current members of Winnipeg Council, including Wyatt, voted to accept the audit of the Assiniboine Bike Lane a decade ago.

They vowed in Jan. 2012 to ensure the public and affected businesses and property owners were given full information about potential impacts of roadway changes. Will they stand up to the bike lobby as they promised?

"I remember when that bike lane went down and all hell broke loose... If we take the word of the Mayor, 'the culture has to change'. When?" asks Wyatt.

Later this week- more with Russ Wyatt about the state of the City, and more about yet another proposed business-busting bike lane.

34:24 Part 3 - 'Seig Heil' hailed at Jewish protesters

- Marty provides a round-up of antisemitic and pro-Hamas activities in Winnipeg, including Nazi imagery at protest marches, and harassment of Jews in the community (one window shot out and counting).

- A columnist in the University of Manitoba newspaper said the Islamist gang rape and butchering of civilians in the Sinai was 'understandable': https://themanitoban.com/2023/10/destruction-of-gaza-forecasted-in-film/45874/

- The blow-up between competing rallies at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights shows that the police made a big mistake by not acting the first time an Israeli flag was stolen, in 2021.

The local Palestinian spokesman, who lauded Hitler's genocide against Jews in the past, told the media "that's just the way things go". Do Mayor Gillingham and Premier Kinew accept that?
