A former scientist's spin on no-bulls**t self-help to help you take back your life and go from good to GREAT! Because sometimes it's not about biz success, sometimes it's just about doing LIFE right. I'll tell stories and lessons from my own life, interview coaches, professionals, experts and thought leaders, all with lessons and stories of their own to help you transform your life!
You are my tribe, and it's time we start growing together!
Expectations. We all have them, right?! When was the last time you did? Now, I want to ask, did they benefit you? Sometimes expectations and anticipating outcomes can be a good thing. They can drive us forward to a desired outcome. But, with certain achievement-driven personalities, expectations can backfire.
In today's episode, I'm sharing a little snippet from a recent Facebook Live where I talk about an epiphany I had. I was grumpy about something. It was a recent thing that just hadn't been living up to the expectations that I'd had and I found myself wondering. Is there something wrong with that thing? Or is there something wrong with the expectations I had?
Contrast that to this past weekend that I spent out at my family cabin in the solitude of the Olympic peninsula of Washington. This little mini vacay had no plan. Even going to visit my friend nearby had no plan. And it was a damn near perfect 36 hours.
So, that leaves the question - do our expectations serve us? What's the consequence of having them? And when will it serve us to either change our expectations OR check them completely? In last week's episode, Tommy Baker gave an amazing activity and exercise. An exercise to get clear on how to make your biggest goals possible using - wait for it - advice from your future self! If you're someone who struggles with visualization it can be tricky. But even more so, it can be hard if you struggle with believing in yourself to achieve the thing that it is you want. When I did sit down and do this activity, it took a lot to get myself to that place. The place where I could really feel like my "future self" and to hear what that "future self" would say to me. And you know what the big takeaway was. Well, for that you'll have to listen.
In today's episode, we discuss the power of this activity, how I got into the place where I felt like I could give myself advice from the perspective of my "future self", and I also give you a sneak preview of the advice that my future self gave me in the form of an audio clip that I now listen to every morning. I hope it resonates and I hope that anytime you're struggling to find belief, that you can take the advice of my future self and borrow it.
In this episode, we’ve got Tommy Baker telling us all about how we can take the leap of our lives! Tommy is the founder of Resist Average Academy and he is all about helping high-achievers create a life they can’t wait to wake up for. He’s the author of UnResolution, The 1% Rule and The Leap Of Your Life, Tommy believes living up to our potential is what we’re here for. In this episode, Tommy and I talk all the things, including what it’s like to change your path, some of the epiphanies and realizations, as well as uncertainties that come with it and how to navigate those! We talk about purpose and passion and how so often it’s not something that you can force yourself to find! We talk some of the myths about clarity and how to overcome them and SO freaking much more! I cannot wait for you to hear! Enjoy! Head to coachellyn.com/podcast for show notes and be sure to shout out @coachellyn in your stories!
Today is a big day. Because today, I TURN 30! And I know that our culture has a lot of opinions about turning 30 and all sorts of other birthday milestones. If I listened to everyone around me, this would've been one of the most depressing birthdays of my life. I would have found all the new ways that my body was hurting, I would look at my life and all the things that I didn't have that I thought I would...it would've been AWFUL!
But I don't see 30 that way. I never have. Maybe because I felt so lost in my 20s. But, seemingly no matter who I talked to, my excitement for my 30s was not something that many people shared. By a lot of perspectives, I wasn't on track. I was failing at achieving the timeline of what I "should" have by my 30th birthday. But whose timeline is that? Who is telling me that's what I SHOULD want?!
In today's episode, I'm going to dig into that. I'm going to question those timelines, question the cultural perspective on turning 30 and I'm going to share something that maybe a lot of people won't agree with...that my BEST YEARS are STILL AHEAD of me. And that having that perspective is a CHOICE! You can CHOOSE to come from that perspective.
So, if you're staring down a milestone birthday and dreading it, if you're feeling like you're not where you "should" be in your life according to the timelines, if you're feeling like you "should" have kids, buy a house, get married or any other timeline markers, this is the episode for you!
Why do we LOSE motivation?! Why do we have ALL the motivation in the world...and then a week or month later it's gone? For many of us, a decision to "make a change" in our lives comes from a negative experience. And those emotions push into action. But here's what happens. Eventually, we get far enough away from the problem that we no longer feel the threat. We start to feel safe. So, we take the foot of the gas...to the point where eventually we might even stop moving altogether. And there is the PROBLEM! In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about how to go from being pushed to being pulled and how you can create that pull toward your dream life using 3 simple but POWERFUL steps! Head to coachellyn.com/podcast for show notes. And if you're struggling to find your why, head to coachellyn.com/transform and let's figure it out together in a complimentary transformation call!
So many of us really want to be successful in our lives. So we do what we think we “should” do to get there. Maybe we have all the outward trappings of success - the status, financial security, respect, etc. - but maybe we’re still not happy. That was exactly what today’s guest - Business & Leadership coach Sylvia Jagla - went through as well. In today’s episode, she tells us a bit about her story, about how she had to dig deep and redefine success on her terms. Along the way, she learned some amazing lessons, the power of abundance, and the importance of daring daily. Plus - she’s given us a special Growth Tribe BONUS! Head to coachellyn.com/podcast for 100 Euros off on a Personal Growth Sailing Retreat in Croatia where Sylvia will be teaching meditation and yoga. And of course, let's connect! Head to @coachellyn on IG or coachellyn.com/transform to set up a COMPLETELY free transformation call!
Have you ever headed down a path that you were just like "Damn - this is my jam!" only to have that feeling change? Maybe you just start to feel meh about it, but eventually maybe you start develop this resistance...resentment almost. I don't know about you, but this happens to me a LOT and whenever I felt that in the past, my reaction was always, "What the hell - I didn't sign up for this!" Well, I had an epiphany lately about this resistance that we may feel along the path. An epiphany that actually came to light when I was writing in my journal the other day. So, I'm doing something I've never done before. I'm sharing some REAL-TIME entries from my journal about my discovering this and walking you through the why LEANING INTO resistance is an important part of the process and the steps after the fact that are important for making that resistance count!

Have you ever been really anxious and stressed for something? Maybe you get stuck on this thing looming in your future and even though you KNOW that stressing about it won't help, you can't seem to stop? Maybe that stress turns to fear and you know that it's that shithead perfectionism rearing its ugly head? I know I have. FREQUENTLY! And for me sometimes, it even becomes a physical sensation in my body. Sometimes those fears and all that stress can be paralyzing, am I right? Well, lately in the books I've been reading this has come up a LOT and in all those books, there's 1 SIMPLE TOOL that all these authors have been referring to as a way to help manage and overcome these instances of paralysis and fear. I've been using it and I LOVE IT! And I want to share it with you!
Are you giving yourself permission? Is perfectionism holding you back? Could you use a little more fearlessness in your life? Well, then you need to check out today’s episode! Lauryn Laszczak is a soul sister SUCCESS coach and she’s seriously such a bright light in this world. And in today’s episode, she talks about some of the things she’s experienced in her life, from always having entrepreneurial tendencies and following that voice in her head, to getting her “dream job” and realizing she didn’t want it, to having kids and how she had to release some of her control and perfectionism and how ALL of these things can help you to become more FEARLESSLY & AUTHENTICALLY YOU!
YEAH...YOU CAN! Whether you're scared, anxious, nervous, or freaking the EFF out...you can. And I believe there’s a lot of proof that you can! Some coaches, trainers and "gurus" think that they need to hold tight to their favorite lessons, teachings and tools for their paid programs. And I used to think that too - fearing that I'd give all my best stuff away, but you know what? If my goal is to HELP YOU TRANSFORM, to get clear and get confident so you can TAKE BACK YOUR LIFE, who am I to keep from you the things that can make the BIGGEST differences? So, lately, I've been giving away all the goods! And today is NO DIFFERENT! Because today I'm telling you about one of my fave things, something that I learned about YEARS ago but hadn't actually started USING until the last few months. And it's something you can create too, RIGHT NOW! This thing - it's your PROOF! It's PROOF of all the times in your life not where you've been FEARLESS, but when you've SHOWN UP in spite of fear. It's PROOF that you CAN do the thing you're scared of! And I'm SO excited to tell you about it!
"Aren't you too young?" If you've ever heard this question or any derivative of it in your life, than you need to listen to this episode. Yes, in this episode I totally use an 8 mile reference to make a point. Chock it up to my time living in Michigan or the fact that I can rap "Lose Yourself" #partytrick, but I actually think it makes the point quite well about why we self-deprecate so freely, the purpose that serves in our lives and why it's SO hard to get out of our damn HEADS! For all my people-pleasers, perfectionists and negative nancies out there, this one is for you. I'm going to give some examples of the seemingly innocent self-deprecating comments we make, why we make them and WHY it's such a PROBLEM! Plus my 3 steps to help you ditch that shitty mindset and GET OUT of your own damn head! Welcome back to another AMAZING interview this time featuring Anna-Kate Blackford. She’s got a hell of story. In the span of a year and a half, she was fired from her dream job working for a production company, there was a traumatic family tragedy, a devastating illness, substance abuse, and so much more. This is one of those stories where you might catch yourself wondering, how do you emerge from that in joy? And she doesn’t sugarcoat some of the emotions of it. In this episode, we run the gamut of subjects, from realizing a firing may have been the best thing to happen in her career, to the importance of stopping, slowing down and simplifying when getting back on track in life and the importance of CHOOSING to find the meaning, the joy and the happiness in grief. This is a long one, but it’s worth it, friends! For show notes, head to coachellyn.com/podcast and be sure to head to coachellyn.com/transform for a FREE coaching session. Ever had an identity crisis?! I have after I blew my knee out in soccer, after I had to finally stop playing, after leaving my PhD and then leaving science in 2017...each time it felt like a hit to my identity. Some identities stick with us forever in a great way....but others can be DEBILITATING AF and come to define who we are in not-so-positive ways. But we ARE NOT our labels. We are SO MUCH MORE! In this episode, we're going to talk labels, how they can make us feel stuck, and how to switch up your mindset to get through any identity crisis you might be struggling with.
This is a MUST LISTEN, CONTENT-PACKED episode! I'm so pumped to have Emily Heidt on today's podcast. She's an editor, writer, writing coach and founder of Elysian storytelling. But, more so than that she's someone who believes to her very core that we all have stories to tell and is passionate about helping others do that. In this episode, we talk why we need to tell our stories, how we connect through stories, perfectionism, comparison and labels and how all 3 can hold us back by living and boldly telling our story. It's a jam packed episode and was an amazing conversation and I'm so pumped to share it! I'm going to caution you right now - don't be the person who brushes this concept off. Because for a long time I was! In starting my new position, I reread the work of Dr. Carol Dweck and her amazing book Mindset. I remembering loving this book before and being floored by it, but also kind of coming at it from the perspective of "Well, yeah, of course I can learn! Why else would we have school?" But kind of leaving it there. Upon reading this a second time and discussing this book with fellow trainees, clients and others, I've realized that there are a lot of intricacies and subtleties to these mindset and how so often our language around things like our speaking ability, our level of organization, our ability to do a particular subject or activity, etc. really can help us uncover the fixed mindset we have that might be flying under the radar in our lives. This episode is all about the subtleties of this concept, helping you develop awareness of the places that fixed mindset might be showing up for you in your life and, last but not least, showing you the 1 SINGLE WORD that can help send you in the right direction. Head to coachellyn.com/transform if you need extra support!

This conversation was AMAZEBALLS, friends, and I cannot wait to share it with you!
Today is one of those days for some #realtalk, because I KNOW that going after your goals and chasing your dreams isn't all positive vibes! There are so many negative emotions that can come up to. Even if we REALLY want something, are REALLY working for a goal, really WANT to make a change, we can still feel overwhelmed, embarrassed about sharing that goal, guilty, and face a lot of fear. What do we do when we face those emotions? I know, when I was dealing with them, I somehow thought that I was alone in feeling these things because everyone else looked SO CONFIDENT on social media. So SURE of themselves. And I wasn't. So, was it just me? Well, I recorded this episode to not only show you that NO, it's not just you, that these feelings are totally normal, that they're part of the process and to also give you some tangible tips and tools to help you navigate these negative emotions. Cuz it's not all positive vibes...I know that babe! And I want to help you work through the negative!
I'm so excited to welcome to the podcast someone who has been so crucially important to my life and who was instrumental into introducing me to the coaching world! Meet Jacki Kouba - former plan-less college student turned corporate recruiter who finally followed her dreams of creating a life of more freedom by creating a booming network marketing business! Yes - network marketing and Beachbody play a big part in her story, but that is not what our conversation is about today! Jacki and I talk comparison - particularly to her badass best friend Kacia, who you heard from in episode 25 - and the effects it can have if you let it, the importance of falling in love with the process and make it FUN AF as well as embracing the messy behind-the-scenes that we ALL have! I love this girl so much and I hope you love her too!
This is one of those topics that has come up a LOT lately in my life. Partially because we're talking all about habits in the Academy this month but also because it was one of the focuses of last week's NLP life coach training. The notion that everything we do has a positive intention behind it. I'm not going to lie, I resisted this idea A LOT. How can smoking have a positive intention? How can war have a positive intention? There are so many things in our lives that are seemingly SO NEGATIVE! Well, I hate to break it to you, but they do. And today I'm going to break down WHY that is and why it's so important for us to realize!
Have you ever gone done a path and then wondered if that’s the right path for you? Maybe you have a PASSIONATE DISLIKE for their career. Maybe you really didn’t mind your career, but you’ve found something else that you’re SO excited about. How do you navigate this situation? CAN you change paths at this stage of the game? Dr. Denise Bronner was a classmate and friend from my time in my doctoral program and was instrumental in helping me navigate this question for myself. But now, as a postdoctoral fellow at UC Davis, she has realized that she wanted something different too. She digs into how she navigated that change for herself. If you’re a scientist or graduate student and want some understanding in the ways in which you’re struggling in your career, LISTEN TO THIS podcast. Even if you’re not though and you’re considering making a change in your own career, then you TOO need to LISTEN to this episode. Have you ever felt stuck? Damn, I know I have. And I know for me, it's not always just an emotion. Sometimes, it's a physical feeling, a tightness in my chest. Have you ever wondered WHY you feel that way? What's the reason for it? What's it trying to tell you? In today's episode, we're going to break down where that feeling comes from. I was inspired by listening to the latest audiobook from Mel Robbins and dang am I so excited to share this content with you because it's shit I wish I realized a LONG time ago!

Some of us have experiences that are incredibly defining moments in our lives. For some of us, those moments are very relatable - a divorce, losing a job, etc. For some of us, it's next level trauma, grief and loss. And that's exactly the case for one of my great friends, Christina Marfice. During her time on Remote Year in 2017, she lost her brother very suddenly. How do we overcome that loss? How do we move on from losing someone so close to us that was such an important figure in our lives? In this episode, Christina tells her story, the struggles of bouncing back, the power of the adult sibling relationship, the experiences, people, and tools that helped her really move on, managing the societal pressures regarding how you "should" grieve, how hardship and sharing that can help build connection and so much more. It's an emotional topic. It's a heavy topic. But I'm so grateful to Christina for sharing her story.
Today I Cried in the Middle of a Starbucks...I'm not joking. Full on balled in the corner of the Starbucks. Following our live Mastermind event about 10 days ago, I was on fire. I was motivated. I had a crystal clear plan of action. And this week hasn't been this way. I've been struggling. It's been like having a hangover - but an emotional hangover. So, in the middle of a call with my Mastermind babes in the middle of a Starbucks, I had a profound realization and so perfectly aligned with this week's message. I needed a DAMN break. I needed to put myself first. So, in the context of that experience, we're going to talk putting yourself first - even if you don't have kids and husband or significant other. We're going to talk self-care, but from the emotional perspective...

Have you ever felt guilty for putting yourself first? As a mom? As a child? As a student? As an employee? In today’s episode, I’m so excited to welcome someone who has become a friend in a very short period of time. April Yentas is a former interior designer turned wedding photographer who has navigated seasons of life, including motherhood, a season of focusing on health, and a season of growing a new business. Throughout this journey, her career pivot, being a new mom, etc. she found one very important thing and has some very important messages - that we HAVE to put ourselves first on occasion and that isn’t something to feel guilty about, the importance of giving yourself space to do you, the importance of authenticity in building your business and how you’ve got to, always, show up in spite of fear. If you’re a mom, if you’re a creative professional, if you’re a new entrepreneur in general, check this amazing episode out!
Tuesday's interview with Brooke really got me think - thinking about all the moments in my life and along my journey where I didn't think my story was worth telling. That somehow it was lesser because it didn't quite compare in my brain to some of the other rags to riches stories of the top entrepreneurs, thought leaders, coaches and speakers of our time. People who've faced poverty, abuse, severe trauma, losses that maybe I couldn't even fathom. I'd hear these stories and simply think, who am I to tell mine? Is my story enough? Does it measure up? And for a long time I didn't think it did, but now I'm realizing it does. And yours does too.
This week’s interview features a powerhouse woman. Brooke Siem is a speaker, writer, XPT certified coach, and a chef. And despite her success as chef - she had a successful bakery in Manhattan called Prohibition Bakery, a champion Food Network’s Chopped, being named on Zagat’s 30 under 30, and so much more - she jumped at the opportunity to travel abroad for a year and is now “categorically homeless”, as her website says. Now, 19 countries later, she’s tackling a new challenge. A couple years, 19 countries and now off of all prescription drugs, she’s become an advocate for mental health and wellness. In today’s episode, we talk about identity and how little things like our hobbies, job titles and diagnoses can become ways in which we overidentify ourselves. We talk about comparing pain and how anytime you have to let go of a chapter of your life, we may need to grieve it and the importance of not comparing your story and your pain to that of anyone else’s. We talk self-compassion, we talk guilty, we talk so many important things that so many of us experience and so much more. You’re going to LOVE this episode with the wonderful and unbelievable Brooke Siem.

Friends, I have a cold. So today, in the spirit of my cold and what it's telling me about what I need in my life right now, here are 3 tips I have based on how I've been feeling lately on burnout, feeling the need to slow down and why it's so important to tune in and give yourself what you need in your current season of life! Ladies and gentleman...today's guest is the quintessential woman of action, the queen of making moves...and so much more. I'm so pumped to welcome Kacia Fitzgerald. When I met her in 2014, she was just kicking off a new side hustle, living in NYC, supporting her boyfriend through dental school and just starting a job at Google. If that doesn't sound badass enough, this girl took a good life and decided she wanted a GREAT one. She quit her job and kicked off what would become a 7-figure business mentoring women to take back their health and their life through online fitness coaching. In this episode, her and I are going to get ACTIONABLE on how you can set yourself up to not only take action in your new year but, as she says, to UNAPOLOGETICALLY make some MOVES!
It's 2019! And ya'll know that I'm not big on New Years...I'm big on goals and living intentionally according to your vision always. Not just with each new calendar year! But, that doesn't change the fact that a lot of us are in that New Years headspace of wanting to make some changes, some big pivots and some freaking transformation into 2019. So, how can we maximize that mood? Well, in today's spur of the moment, impulse episode, I wanted to give you just that - some of my top tips for maximizing New Years 2019!
How do we navigate moments when we fail? How do we bounce back? How do we not beat ourselves up? I don't know about you...but I know how daunting failure and the fear of failure can be. In our careers, in our relationships, in our health...in so many ways. I know how having failure before can haunt us and be so hard to bounce back from. But it doesn't have to be. Today, we're going to elaborate a little bit more on some of the topics that we touched on in our interview on Tuesday and I'm going to leave you with 5 tips for how to navigate fear and failure as we reflect on our 2018 and as we move into 2019...
NOTE: Hiatus until second week of New Year! We will be back on January 8th!
You could say I've been saving this episode...I mean technically I recorded it a couple months ago. But, actually, with all the other content that I've been creating for you guys and all the amazing interviews that I've had the pleasure of getting, this is just where this interview landed in the schedule. And it's the PERFECT little kick in the butt going into the new year because in this episode, I had the opportunity to sit down with Dan Holloway, or THE Dan Holloway as I've taken to calling him per his instagram handle. And this dude is about to drop some TRUTH bombs on you all. So whether you're listening to this right when it drops at the end of December and the end of 2018, or you're kicking off your 2019 with this episode, I gaurantee you if you implement some of what Dan discusses in this episode, your 2019 will be one of the most EPIC years of your personal and professional life! I'm so stoked for you all to hear everything he has to say! Enjoy!
We're switching things up in this podcast! No more once-a-week. We're kicking things up a notch, because so often some of the actionable and tangible steps that we cover in each and every interview can get buried in the conversation. And sometimes, we're just covering something that I want to elaborate on. So, starting this week, we're going to add a new episode each week. A solo episode where I can dig a little bit deeper into the topic to provide you with actionable tools that you can take and apply to your own life. So, in this episode, we're going to continue the conversation about affirmations. Today, I've got my 5 top tips for to create affirmations that work - create affirmations around a the specific paradigm/limiting belief that you most need to shift, create your own affirmations (don't simply adopt someone else's), use positive and present language, consider using passionate language that snaps you out of your old state, and consistently use your affirmations. Enjoy!
The first time I was introduced to affirmations + manifesting, I was probably like a lot of you. I thought they were complete and utter BULLS***. In today's episode, I'm sitting down with my friend Barbara Cameron, a renaissance woman of many passions and aspiring travel photographer, about how she's used intentional language and affirmations to manifest some incredible experiences in her own life, what so many of us do wrong when it comes to affirmations and ultimately the role that our language plays in shifting our mindset and our paradigms! I hope you enjoy it!
When you start moving toward something in your life, how fully have you committed to it? Are you all-in? Or do you still have a foot on the shore, wondering why your not sailing? In today's podcast, Kat Burns talks about what she called "ruthless intentionality", a phrase that I'm totally stealing in my future life. For her, it was all about taking responsibility and having some intention, ruthless intention, with the choices she makes. But you don't just declare something in your life. You create it. You have to have that same intention in the actions you take, the language you use, the awareness you have in your day to day life and in shifting your mindset. Ruthless intentionality is a lifestyle and one that transforms your life and the steps you start taking toward your achieving your goals.
Do you consider yourself to be a defensive person? I'd be willing to be that most people would probably answer "no" to this question, me being one of them. I consider myself to be a pretty open person, open to feedback, to growth, and so on. But am I, really? Are you? I had a moment the other day where I realized that I'm not. A person I trust made a comment that could have been valuable feedback for me. And my first instinct was to defend myself. I realized in reflecting on this situation that, even for the most open people, defensiveness is a natural and normal state. Even when we feel like we're being receptive to feedback, oftentimes we're not as open as we could be. In today's episode, I reflect on this situation, on the times when it's really easy to get constructive feedback and the times when it's not, the stages of defensiveness that we often find ourselves in, and ultimately, where we should all strive to be. Enjoy!
If there's anyone in my Remote Year Community that is as MUCH of a personal growth nerd as I am, it's this dude right here! And damn was this a fun conversation. About how personal growth taught him to love learning and empowered him to look at learning differently as an adult than he ever did as a kid, how knowledge is like Harry Potter, teaching him new spells and tools that can transform his life just like magic would, imposter syndrome and how it showed up for him, failure in entrepreneurship, whether or not you can actually outgrow personal growth...and all the nerdy references you could ever desire! Loved this convo and the lessons in it! I hope you enjoy it!
Also, shout out to my girl Kathleen for the epic-ness of this audio! It's so good!
The best part of doing a podcast is tapping into the genius of others and all they can teach you and this is another one of those moments when I'm so grateful that I kickstarted this podcast. In today's podcast, I am featuring a new friend and fellow Remote Year participant, Dr. Laura Gallaher. She is an organizational psychologist and the founder of Gallaher Edge, but more than the creds, she is an insightful badass and the hour I spent chatting with her truly is one my favorite interviews I've done so far. We talk defensiveness, emotional intelligence and how you can find your edge in work and in life by tapping into self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-accountability. There's so much knowledge to be shared here and I am so excited for you to here it! Enjoy!
Have you ever had an absolutely spectacular failure? Like it was the encapsulation of your dream and it crashed and burned so hard that you had trouble picking yourself back up? I thought I had to. That is until this past September. Today, I'm going to tell you about the most epic fail of my professional life. It was years in the making, and it failed miserably. I'm going to talk to you about some of what went through my head in the aftermath of that failure, what I did wrong, and some of the silver linings and lessons I learned from that failure. Because, cliche or not, failure is our biggest teacher. And the sooner you can pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try again...the better.
Sometimes the biggest and best thing we can do for ourselves is give to set boundaries and to give ourselves permission to create our lives for ourselves and not for other people. To dig into that, I had the opportunity to sit down with Kelly Barnard, a marketing consultant, career coach and, of course, a Remote Year Citizen, to talk about all things freedom. When she realized that her career at a marketing agency wasn't giving herself the freedom that she craved. So, she left her stable and secure marketing career to start her own business, travel the world, and step into the world of coaching. We talk all about how this process and this journey gave her freedom in her life and, ultimately, how she helps her clients create that freedom as well. Enjoy!
Get ready to be CALLED OUT!!! Because damn did I feel called out, too. Similar to a couple of weeks back when I shared that audio clip from an IGTV I did, I'm breaking podcasting law and switching to a piece of audio that isn't great, because the content is what is the most important part. So often, we fall victim to the FAST, EASY, CHEAP attitude of our culture. But, that shit doesn't work, especially for long-term effective results in our lives. We have to be willing to invest our TIME + MONEY, but so often we have excuses why we can't make those investments. And I mean EXCUSES, NOT REASONS. So, ask yourself, do you have reasons why you're not getting what you want in life, or are your EXCUSES holding you back? Because, if you let them, your excuses will make or break you.
I've been loving all these new friends I've been making on Instagram lately and, once again, that new connection turned into an AWESOME podcast interview! I'm so excited to have Krystal Anderson-Gosselin, aka @theunicorndilemma, as a guest on this week's podcast. We talk everything from discipline, boundaries to creative living, even for those of us that don't identify with the "creative" label, how to live more creatively and that helps us grow into who we were always meant to be.
What does success look like for you? Is it a tangible thing you've contributed to the world? Is it a feeling of fulfillment or personal meaning? Is it more about your relationships? Is it a combination of all these things? Or...maybe you're likely me and you don't know. I was inspired by reading the book , “In the Company of Women”, to touch on success and what it means. It's an intensely personal subject and I realized in this MINI-SODE that I don't have a crystal clear definition. Instead, I approach defining success in a different way and I wanted to share that with you.
We're back on track with the interviews and this was a fun one because I just met my new best friend! Nicole Hudson is a fellow participant in Remote Year and her story parallels mine in so many ways. I absolutely loved hearing her story and talking about some of the hesitations, questions, and decisions that she ultimately had to make that led her to pick up and leave a seemingly great life and career in New York City to find a life that felt like hers. Some of the tangible work she did, the reflection that she found herself doing and the ultimate realizations that she made might surprise you! I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did.
It's a double episode week because this has been a BIG week for Coach Ellyn and my coaching biz! This is the week that I launched my baby, my dream program, Life 101! And today, I'm going to tell you all about the cornerstones of this program, which I believe to be the 3 Things you NEED to succeed in your life and to create your dream life on your terms!
Today, I'm sitting down with 3 of my former clients - Gunther Oakey, corporate counsel and all around creative badass; Annie Jacobsen, insurance broker by day and mental health guru by, also day; and Jess Newfield, Remote Year program leader + community facilitator + impact design consultant extraordinaire! These 3 took time away from their R&R at our personal growth retreat this past weekend to clear up some of the questions that people often have about coaching - what it is, coaching vs. thereapy, if it's worth the investments, and the overarching benefits of coaching in their life!
Why do so many people set goals and then ultimately fail at achieving them? Well, I believe that there's a big reason for that and I believe that reason ultimately ties back to one specific thing. This week, I'm totally violating the rules of podcasting. It's like Podcast 101 that the quality of your audio is KING...but I'm taking a risk here, because I'm sharing some thing that might fall into the "shitty audio" category. I'm sharing with you a snippet of my fave IGTV that I've ever done called "Momentum is the Secret Sauce" because the content and the message in this WORTH taking that risk. I hope you enjoy it!
Sometimes we just don't show up as our best selves. We snap at our friends, or significant others. We freak out about bad WiFi and struggle to keep ourselves from drop kicking our laptop across the room. We overreact! It's normal, and it's even more so when things aren't going perfectly. Bottom line, it's easy to be a good person and the best version of ourselves when things are going right and much more difficult when things aren't. Today, I'm going to tell you about some of my recent experiences massively overreacting and not showing up at my best, and, ultimately, the things that have helped me work through those moments. Because, whether we want to admit it or not, sometimes we just need to CALM OUR TITS!
"There is no better way to fight weakness than with strength. Once the mind and body have been awakened to their true potential, it’s impossible to turn back." In this episode, I talk all about how fitness and physical challenge has shown up in my life as a vehicle for challenge, change and transformation, with a little help from the wonderfully impactful essay "Iron & The Soul" by Henry Rollins, which has hugely impacted and resonated with me on my journey!
Today I'm sitting down with two new friends from Instagram, Jenny & Mike of Introvert Goat, a budding apparel company with a mission of empowering introverts! We're talking all things introversion, from how their experiences with being introverts inspired them to start their company, the difference between introversion and shyness, managing introversion in social situations and SO MUCH MORE! Download to listen to this amazing and fun conversation!
This is one of those episodes that probably won't be about what you think it is. It's not about my love for the Tacos, whom you heard from in the last episode. It's actually about the 4 people who will help me level up my physical and emotional game and the role that 1 of them has played in helping me handle my negative emotions.
Why are you traveling the world for a year? Seriously. What is with this digital nomad trend? Well, in today's episode, we're sitting down with my girls and my current roommates in Prague, Kathleen & Kaarina, and talking all the things travel and the role world travel has played in our lives, particularly from the perspective of growth, challenge and change! We are the TACOS!
