Should the Miami Heat Resign Goran Dragic, Jae Crowder, Meyers Leonard, Solomon Hill, and/or Derrick Jones JR?

In today’s episode, David and Steven propose what the Miami Heat need to do to improve the team during the 2020 off-season. The Heat will be off the books from some pretty hefty salaries and will have the flexibility to improve their roster. Things become complicated, however, as the free agents of the 2021 off-season are the real prizes to claim and the Heat will want to retain cap flexibility in order to acquire some of the league’s best players. And so, how should Pat Riley approach this off-season in their quest to win another NBA Championship. Stay tuned.

NBA Suspense the 2020 Season but do They Deserve Credit and Which Teams Benefit? The Miami Heat Struggle to Contain Devonte Graham and Charlotte Hornets. Christian Wood Also Contracted Coronavirus.

What unbelievable turn of events since our last episode. This past Wednesday, the NBA suspended play for the rest of season as Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz was the first player to test positive for the Coronavirus. Since then, the world itself has seemed to turn upside down as we all have felt or seen its impact in some form of way. The crew reviews the Heat’s last game before the season was suspended as they lost a disappointing game to the Charlotte Hornets. We also discuss what team has the most to gain from this extended free time off. Many teams, including the Heat, have players nursing injuries. If the season were to eventually continue, how would the teams that are now injury ridden affect the league if they were to become healthy?

Florida Rivalry Settled! Heat Beat Magic in the Last Florida Match-up of the Season. Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans Knock Out the Heat! Literally!

The Heat closed the season, 3-1,  against their in-state rival, the Orlando Magic, in a tightly contested match-up where the Heat were able to pull away with a very entertaining victory. Both Duncan Robinson and the “Human Torch” Terrence Ross led their team in a highly efficient scoring duel. Their 4-game winning streak would come to an end, however, as the Heat fell to New Orleans Pelicans in their next game. Despite doing a great job defensively against first-time All-Star Brandon Ingram, the Heat struggled mightily from the three-point line as only one other Heat player besides Duncan Robinson was able to score from distance. The crew also touches up on some very interesting news that has been occurring throughout the league in these past few days, including some injuries that could potentially cause significant changes to the Eastern Conference standings.

The Heat Stop Giannis Again, What Are The Milwaukee Bucks Weaknesses, Eastern Conference Playoff Match-Up Predictions.

What a playoff statement by the Heat with a strong and convincing victory over the NBA’s best record in the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat kept the league’s MVP at only 13 points. That’s Giannis Antetokounmpo’s lowest amount of points in the entire season! Fellow All-Star Khris Middleton was also kept at only 12 points. But what does this mean for the Miami Heat? Are they title contenders? The crew has an interesting discussion about the Heat’s playoff prospects despite this impressive win. Finally, we give our predictions for the Eastern Conference First Round match-ups. We have some interesting perspectives you will want to hear. It might not be something you’ll expect! Stay tuned!

D’Angelo Russel’s Leads KAT-less Team to Another Disappointing Heat Loss. The Heat’s Formula to Slowing Down Luka Doncic. First Back-back Wins for the Heat. Joel Embiid Hurt and Out?

What an interesting half-week for the Heat! Since our last episode, the Heat were on a down-swing as they had lost some frustrating games against opponents they should have won against. On top of losing those games, they had lost in very unspectacular fashion where they completely crumbled at the end of fourth quarters. The Heat were hoping to change their fortunes, first against the Minnesota Timberwolves but fell to the same previous misfortune where they choked in the last few minutes of the game and lost. The Heat would finally get a break by winning very convincingly against a quality team against the Dallas Mavericks where the whole team played extremely well and succeeded in slowing down the MVP contender Luka Doncic. The very next night, the Heat would finally win their very first back-to-back game against the Brooklyn Nets! The Heat also catch a break as their potential first-round playoff match-up, the Philadelphia 76ers, just lost Joel Embiid to a shoulder injury and will be out for at least 2 weeks. We discuss how this affects the Heat’s chances for the playoffs. Stay tuned!

2020 Western Conference Playoff Matchups, Heat’s Epic Meltdown Against the Cavaliers, Kevin Porter and Larry Nance Jr Big Games, The Extinction of Centers who can Post Up

After winning a great game a couple of nights back against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Heat  were stunned by a heroic fourth quarter performance of the Cavaliers. What was thought to be an easy road win turned out to be a glaring display of the Heat’s weaknesses.  The crew discusses in detail the particular line-up change that Cavaliers Head Coach J.B. Bicketstaff implemented that would cause the Heat’s collapse in that fourth quarter. We also explain why the Heat failed to counter this particular change and how it poses some serious questions to the Heat’s capabilities going into the playoffs.  For the second half of the show, the crew debates how they would see the Western Conference Playoff match-ups playout. There’s a particular heated discussion concerning the Houston Rockets vs Utah Jazz that you do not want to miss. Stay tuned!

Dwayne Wade Retirement Ceremony, Trae Young Career High 50 Points Against the Heat, and Andre Drummond First Game as a Cavaliers Against the Heat.

This is a special weekend for Miami Heat fans as Dwayne Wade’s three day retirement ceremony took place. We reminisce on the memories of the greatest Heat player of all time and discuss what made Dwayne Wade such a special player. Also, we discuss the Heat’s two games that occurred after All-Star weekend. The Heat concluded their road trip against the Atlanta Hawks with an exciting game, but Trae Young’s career 50 point night was just too much to overcome. We also discuss how the Heat’s defensive struggles continue to dampen the Heat’s chances at a deep playoff run. Finally, we touch on the Heat’s seemingly amazing performance against a not-so-amazing team in the Cleveland Cavaliers, where the Heat recorded a team high 81-points in the first-half. We discuss why such an impressive amount of points does not really add a whole lot of meaning behind the Heat’s future.

Miami Heat Eastern Conference Playoff Match-ups Against 76ers, Celtics, Raptors, and Pacers.

Miami Heat Eastern Conference Playoff Match-ups Against 76ers, Celtics, Raptors, and Pacers.

Some interesting news since the All-Star game! As trades are no longer allowed this season, teams are still looking for a way to improve as the playoffs looms. Many players are being waived and heading towards a contender. The Houston Rockets have picked up Jeff Green and DeMarre Carroll to double down even further on their small-ball line-up. The Los Angeles Clippers will acquire Reggie Jackson as soon as his waivers with the Detroit Pistons clears. Sad news for Brooklyn Nets fans as Kyrie Irving will be out indefinitely due to his on-going shoulder problems. Lastly, the Cleveland Cavaliers parted ways from their Head Coach John Beilein.

For those of you who could not catch the All-Star game this past Sunday, we highly encourage you to at least watch the highlights. From the pregame show to the actual game, it was likely the best All-Star game in a very long time. The NBA did an amazing job honoring the city of Chicago and paying homage to the late great Kobe Bryant and David Stern. Also, major credit to Common who delivered the pregame show brilliantly. The All-Star game itself was highly entertaining as the game became extremely competitive in the last quarter, thanks to their new format where the first to 24 points (in honor of Kobe) would win. The game got physical, with highly contested plays and tough defense (even offensive fouls were being called!)

The second half of the podcast, the crew discusses the Heat’s possible match-ups in the Eastern Conference playoffs. We debate who we see the Heat beating, and who we see the Heat struggling against. We break down the match-ups given the current roster and seedings and discuss how far we see the Heat going in the playoffs. The Eastern Conference is very top heavy this season and poses many daunting challenges for the Heat. You won’t want to miss our insightful breakdown of each possible match-up!

Aaron Gordon's Dunk Contest Controversy and All-Star Competition

Aaron Gordon's Dunk Contest Controversy and All-Star Competition

What an exciting All-Star weekend for Heat fans! As we all know the Heat were able to have a representative in every game and so far, we have not been disappointed! There was a lot of controversy on Aaron Gordon's final dunk over 7’6 Tacko “Taco” Falls and the decision made by Dwayne Wade and the other judges.

But first, we need to recap the Heat’s game against the Utah Jazz prior to the All-Star break. Unfortunately, the Heat lost the road game to a strong Jazz team. Rudy Gobert proved why he was elected to his first All-Star game, providing a strong, physical, low-post defensive presence, and dominating the boards, grabbing a ridiculous 20 rebounds for the game. Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson and Bojan Bogdonavic also each provided at least 21 points each. The Heat on the other hand did have respectable performances from Jimmy Butler, Duncan Robinson, and Jae Crowder but it was just not enough. Kendrick Nunn unfortunately continued his shooting woes and the Jazz defense made it very difficult for the Heat’s offense to flow. Missing Tyler Hero and Myers Leonard obviously affected their ability to spread the floor and allowed the Jazz’s defense to anchor down the paint.

On to the All-Star events! On Friday, Kendrick Nunn had a strong presence in the NBA Rising Stars game, starting for Team USA and helping them get the win by providing 16 points. Unfortunately, Duncan Robinson fell short in the 3-point contest, where we saw Buddy Hield clutch an impressive win on the last ball of the competition over Devin Booker. On the bright side, the Heat were able to bring both the Skills Challenge and Slam Dunk trophies thanks to an unbelievable performance by Bam Adebayo and a somewhat controversial win by Derrick Jones Jr. An epic dunk-off ensued between Jones Jr. and Aaron Gordon that will be remembered throughout NBA dunking history. You have to tune-in to find out what the crew thinks!

2020 NBA All-Star Analysis, Trevor Arize and Carmelo Anthony Post-Up, Jae Crowder and Not Andre Iguodala as the Key Piece, Kendrick Nunn Shooting and Injury Struggles.

2020 NBA All-Star Analysis, Trevor Arize and Carmelo Anthony Post-Up, Jae Crowder and Not Andre Iguodala as the Key Piece, Kendrick Nunn Shooting and Injury Struggles.

In today’s episode, the crew analyzes the Heat’s performance against the Portland Trailblazers and the Golden State Warriors. In particular, we pick apart the Heat’s defense, as a common trend in the opponent’s strategy is to single out and attack Duncan Robinson. Both Trevor Ariza and Carmelo Anthony took advantage of the match up against Robinson and put up significant numbers against Miami. We discuss how the Heat are not particularly equipped to provide elite defense in either the perimeter or the paint, and thus, have come to rely on zone defense, which has not been working well. Jae Crowder and Andre Iguodala got to play for the very first time for the Heat. Jae Crowder has taken advantage of his new opportunity with the Heat by logging in heavy minutes and contributing not only defensively, but on the offensive end as well by shooting extremely efficiently from the 3-point line.

Against the Golden State Warriors the Heat played much better as Jimmy Butler returned to the line-up. Carson brings an interesting observation about the Heat’s weak third quarter performance. Also, Kendrick Nunn shooting woes continues, as he is unable to provide efficient scoring despite putting up a significant portion of the Heat’s shots. We discuss whether or not he might still be affected by the achilles injury that he sustained earlier in January. We also briefly touch on some NBA headlines that have been circling about, including Embiid's cryptic twitter conversation with Jimmy Butler (maybe even hinting a possible reunion in Miami) and Jaxson Hayes rant for not making the Rising Stars Challenge.

Finally, we select our picks to win in the All-Star competitions. Heat fans should be extremely excited for this year’s All-Star as every competition has at least one Heat player selected to participate. Do our Heat representatives have a chance to win against some of the bigger names in league? Tune in to find out what the crew thinks of our chances.

2020 NBA Post-Trade Review, Justice Winslow Fit in Memphis, James Johnson for Gorgui Dieng, Udonis Haslem Loyalty Contract from Pat Riley.

2020 NBA Post-Trade Review, Justice Winslow Fit in Memphis, James Johnson for Gorgui Dieng, Udonis Haslem Loyalty Contract from Pat Riley.

What a week for Miami! The Heat made a huge splash during the NBA trade deadline this past Thursday by winning the Andre Iguodala sweepstake! Pat Riley (aka the Godfather) was able to shed Dion Waiter’s and James Johnson’s heavy contracts, but at a heavy cost for a Heat favorite. Trading Justise Winslow was a tough sacrifice but in return, the Heat will be strengthened with the additions of Andre Iguodala, Jae Crowder, and Solomon Hill. David and Steven go into detail as to how the losses and additions of these specific players will impact the Heat. We also discuss the Heat’s struggles against the Clippers and Kings, as they were significantly short handed due to injuries, zone defense, and the trade deadline. Finally, we preview how we expect the Heat to perform in their upcoming back-to-back games against the Portland Trailblazers and Golden State Warriors.

We also discuss the Heat’s chances for the playoffs given their possible playoff match-ups in the first-round, and whether Pat Riley should make a move to bolster the Heat’s roster to help them get further in the playoffs. Finally, as the 2020 trade deadlines approaches tomorrow, we discuss the biggest trade of the year so far (4 teams included!) where the Houston Rockets traded away their coveted big man, Clint Capela, to the Atlanta Hawks and the Rockets receive defensive stalwart Robert Covington and Jordan Bell from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
