Treat The Cause Not The Symptom

Treat The Cause Not The Symptom

Ever since she was young, she has been battling life; she survived a horrible childhood - torn between a narcissistic father and an emotionally neglectful mother, struggled from eating disorders, suffered from binge drinking and experienced some very bad relationships. Magic Barclay is now a single mother of two, she managed to free herself off the bad drinking habits and eating disorders, a cancer survivor and most importantly a warrior. Having been through all these experiences, Magic is now an instructor of PNEI of Trauma, the lead practitioner at Wholistic Natural Health Australia and the host of her own podcast. Her aim is to educate people on how to properly recover from trauma by learning how to listen to their bodies and dig deep to properly understand the root cause of their problems and just silence the symptoms.

If you are feeling troubled, bothered or even annoyed by something that either happened in the past or is still occurring, then Magic Barclay offers an intake form that is available on: https://www.wholisticnaturalhealth.com.au/health-assessment-form/ that you can take at any time and anywhere that allows her to find the root cause her clients' illnesses. After filling in the form, Magic and her team evaluate and study the cases and then jump on a complimentary call with the clients. In this 45 minute session, Magic and her team will work on understanding your case further and provide any insights regarding the cause of the illness and a suggested treatment plan.

Catalytic Leadership with William Attaway

Catalytic Leadership with William Attaway

"Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality" - Warren Bennis

We are all leaders in some way; we are all responsible for someone or something and we all have the desire to take that thing or that person forwards towards a better future. As leaders we have a lot of responsibilities that must be fulfilled but not a lot of guidance to direct our ship to its destination. Our journey might not be as smooth as one might hope, and we might feel lost, frustrated and anxious at times, and this is when we need to seek help from someone we trust to mentor us and guide us on how to ride out the storm.

William Attaway, a best selling author, podcast host and a leadership coaches, joins us for an episode where he discusses why leadership coaching is important, why leadership is important, the approach/technique he uses with his clients to build trust and learn more about them in order to connect with them on a personal level and understand their personalities, goals, aspirations, and many more. As a thank you, William would like to offer you an opportunity to get a free physical copy of his new book, Catalytic Leadership, and learn more about the leadership coaching that he provides to his clients. If, however, you are not a US citizen, it might be difficult to obtain a physical copy but Mr. Attaway got a digital copy that you could access. Take The First Step

Take The First Step

  • What if...? Life presents you with a vast number of opportunities, don't waste them out of fear and discouragement and demotivating opinions
  • Learn to say NO; If you have a goal, you need to work for it, sacrifices are necessary
  • You can have it all; With excellent time management and prioritization of tasks, you can achieve a lot
  • Know your limits; If you try to do everything, you will burn down
  • Take the first step; You don't know what is waiting for you on the other side

Those are just a few life lessons of what I've learnt talking to this outstanding woman, Sue Stockdale. Sue is a polar explorer, an accomplished athlete, an executive coach, an author and a podcastor, a woman of many talents, a great deal of accomplishments and wisdom. Besides being the first woman from the UK to ski to the North Pole, she has set herself on a mission to positively influence the world; she aspires to help people achieve more than they ever imagined possible and she does so via executive coaching, TEDx talks and publishing books including: Risk, Motivating People and Cope with Change at Work

Better Education For A Better Nation

Better Education For A Better Nation

Joining me for this episode is a highly-sought after speaker, trainer and coach Dr. Danny Brassell. Danny has spoken to over 3,000 audiences worldwide and authored 16 books, his latest being: Leadership Begins with Motivation. In addition to that, Danny is a huge advocate of reading and is a firm believe that reading plays a vital role in creating leaders and building the foundation to a successful life and career. As a thank you for listening to this episode, Danny would like to offer you a free e-copy of his book 'Read, Lead & Succeed', which can be accessed by clicking on the url provided: https://freegiftfromdanny.com/

In this episode, Danny and I tackle the reasons why student disengagement is becoming the norm rather than the exception. We also discuss some weaknesses in the current educational system that seems to be implemented worldwide that causes students to lose interest in the information they are receiving. Education, especially at a young age is critical for kids to explore who they are and what they want to be. Not to mention that education, according to Raymond Dalio - an American billionaire investor, a hedge fund manager at Bridgewater and the author of 'Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order: Why Nations Succeed and Fail', is one of the 8 key strengths that typically plays a crucial role in a country's rise and decline. Finally, we dive into the topic of reading where Danny teaches me, both directly and indirectly, the importance of reading for our personal and professional development.

What's My Type?

What's My Type?

Despite the great advancements in sciences, we still struggle to fully understand the human brain, making it hard to scientifically justify many aspects of human behavior, including personality development. Therefore, scientists created psychometric tests that facilitate understanding to aid in mental health treatment, job training and placement and self-knowledge. To be more specific, personality test were designed to systematically elicit information about one's preferences, interests, emotional makeup and motivations. But, to what extent are these tests accurate? And should they be taken seriously? Join me in an episode where I take my first personality test ever, share my personality profile with you, briefly tackle the theories of personality development and criticize personality tests.

Can Machines Think?

Can Machines Think?

Long before computers had sophisticated central processing units and powerful graphical processing units that made artificial intelligence possible, scientists such as Alan Turing and John Searle were debating whether machines will ever be able to emulate human intelligence. This opened the door to many thought experiments such as 'The Chinese Room Argument' that criticized machines' future ability to think. Now that the world is witnessing advancements in the field of AI - from computers that could beat the top chess players to self-driving vehicles, the debate was re-introduced, which in return raised many philosophical questions regarding consciousness, understanding and intelligence.

Joining me for this episode is a cognitive scientist and researcher, Keiland Cooper. Keiland is a researcher at the University of California and the core of his work is somewhere in the middle of neuroscience, data science and artificial intelligence. Over the years, Keiland had the privilege to work on multiple research projects ranging from how the brain learns and functions, to AI and the neurological impacts of COVID-19. If you would like to connect with Keiland or read some of his publications, then you can do so either by following him on twitter or visiting his website

How did we evolve as humans?  Are our brains getting smaller? Did we become smarter over time, or did our definition of smartness evolve with time? Do you think wars and conflicts hindered our advancements in science and technology? Those are just a few of the many questions that crossed our minds as James Mackie and I were chatting. Join us for an episode filled with mind tickling questions, and why not pause the episode every once and a while and think about the answer that you would give to these inquiries.

Finding Your Purpose

Finding Your Purpose

Purpose, according to William Damon, the director of the Stanford Center on Adolescence, is defined as "a stable and generalized intention to accomplish something that is at the same time meaningful to the self and consequential for the world beyond the self". In a world where educators are anxious, depressed and discontent at the system they’ve found themselves in and where students are either under immense amounts of pressure or feel disengaged, it is crucial that teachers rediscover their purpose. In this episode, we discuss how difficult it is for one to choose their own career path, the role of schools and education systems in helping children experience what it is like to work in different sectors, the weaknesses in the current education system that prevents students from either preparing themselves to the demands of the workplace or anticipate the requirements of the field, the need to re-imagine education to increase both the teachers' and pupils' engagements, and finally we seek to give solutions to solve the problems previously mentioned. As usual, hope you have an amazing day!

Fill It Before You Kick It

Fill It Before You Kick It

I personally have never made a bucket list, and I never though of making one. It might because I never thought of the goals I've set as things that could go into one's bucket list. My idea of a bucket list was that it was a collection of adventures and crazy things one would like to do during their lifetime. It has never occurred to me that any idea that you would like to accomplish could go into that list. As I was surfing the web, trying to find some inspiration for my own bucket list, I found a bunch of things that reminded me of the funny things I do or have done in the past. While this episode is a bit less serious than usual, there are some key points you could take away. I hope you enjoy this one! Have a good one y'all.

Summer Time Sadness

Summer Time Sadness

Summer has always meant a long vacation, traveling, sleeping late and lazy days. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case for me; I am a working man who has been consumed by the corporate world. Despite summer being the only time where we could do whatever we want, whenever we want, a lot of people tend to get bored of this lifestyle after a while. In this episode, I talk about how I spent my summer vacations, especially during the 4 years of university, I discuss the things that I've done and what I could've done differently. Hope you enjoy this one!

Will I Ever Make Up For the Lost Sleep?

Volunteering at Wadi Rum was just the thing I needed after a long week of sitting down and staring at the screen; it was definitely an unforgettable experience. However, volunteering can be exhausting, and we definitely felt it during the event as we had little to no sleep that day. That got me thinking whether it is possible to recover from sleep deprivation and how long can it take to do so. What about people with insomnia? Can they recover from sleep deprivation? Can the body survive on little to not sleep? Let's unravel the mystery!

A Personal Struggle

In the pursuit of a better physique and to become a better athlete, I definitely took some bad decisions that drove me towards a long dark road. Despite seeking help from the internet, the amount of information that I received made me more confused which affected my relationship with food and my body. In this podcast I take you through my fitness journey, explain how and why I ended up with what I would consider a start of an eating disorder, what was going through my mind at that time and what steps did I take to rebuild a healthy relationship with food and my body.

Crypto101

Crypto101

The world is demanding faster, more efficient and more secure means of delivering data. When it comes to money, security is of paramount importance. Although it seems like blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies have the ability to meet all the expectations mentioned above, some people are still weary about the idea, while others are treating it as an asset and as a mean of making quick money. In this episode, James Mackie and I tap into a wide range of topics concerning cryptocurrencies trying to comprehend the fundamental technology behind cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin, to understand why some people might be against the idea and whether this technology will be able to replace the monetary system as we know it.
