The Hills Church - Evansville, Indiana

Take The Hills - Greater Priorities
What if The Hills were known as the most loving church in the Midwest? What if we were the church known for looking like Jesus? What would happen if the day came when there was no more depression, abortion, or welfare? What would be different if we saw Jesus as the strong, fierce warrior who doesn’t run from sin, pain, and dysfunction? This is a rescue mission as we fight to bring hope, alleviate suffering, and reach Evansville and beyond with the life-changing power of the Gospel.

Outsourced: Caleb Kaltenbach
Caleb Kaltenbach is a pastor and founder of The Messy Grace Group. Sometimes, grace gets messy... Caleb Kaltenbach was raised by LGBTQ parents, marched in gay pride parades as a youngster, and experienced firsthand the hatred and bitterness of some Christians toward his family. But then Caleb surprised everyone, including himself, by becoming a Christian…and a pastor. Very few issues in Christianity are as divisive as the acceptance of the LGBT community in the church. As a pastor and as a person with beloved family members living a gay lifestyle, Caleb had to face this issue with courage and grace. Messy Grace shows us that Jesus’s command to “love your neighbor as yourself” doesn’t have an exception clause for a gay “neighbor”—or for that matter, any other “neighbor” we might find it hard to relate to. Jesus was able to love these people and yet still hold on to his beliefs. So can you. Even when it’s messy.

New You, New Purpose - To be Faithful with what you have (Week 3)
At the beginning of the year we started talking your relationship with God; because that's where it all starts. But then after you kind of get to know God and you start a relationship with him, the next thing that should start to happen is that you start growing.  Growth looks like becoming more like Christ. He saved you for something. There's an action. There’s a purpose. There's a living out that purpose. So we want to talk about how that works.

New You, New Purpose - At work (Week 3)
What's the meaning of work, why do we work, why do we spend so much time working? What's underneath of this? And so what I want to attempt to do today is to give all of us a proper theology of work, a proper understanding of the biblical view of work,

New You, New Purpose - As a believer (Week 2)
God's purpose for your life is multiplication, the very first command that God gives in scripture is be fruitful and multiply. That command applies to us and it's more than just physically multiplying. God wants us to to multiply spiritually, to have spiritual sons and spiritual daughters, that the impact of our lives would spill over into the lives of other people. But my fear. Is that too many of us are living isolated, kind of Christian lives are the impact of our Christianity.

New You, New Purpose - As Part of The Next Generation (Week 1)
What I want you to see is that you have a purpose later in life. You have a very real purpose. You probably won't discover your purpose until you've lived a while. It takes a while to figure out what that purpose is. But can I tell you this? It's not your occupation. You may set aside an occupation, but you never set aside your purpose.  Do you know that your purpose is the calling on your life that comes from God and cannot tell you that you have a calling? Whether you ever enter into full time ministry, not full time ministry isn't necessary for you to have a calling. I think God calls farmers. I think God calls Mechanics'. I didn't like to when I was a teenager. I hated farming, hated being in the country, didn't want to live in the country. It's funny how you change when you're older.

New Year New You (A Season of Focused Spiritual Growth) - Self-Image Mandate (Week 4)
Every year, we set new goals to change the past, try something new, do something different. But if we're honest, the New Year can start to sound like a broken record. We want to lose weight, save money, get organized. We think if we can just working harder, make it better, do it faster, we'll be stronger. But maybe we're trying to change the wrong thing because the common denominator of every part of your life is you. Yeah, you've got 99 problems and you're a part of everyone. So what if this year wasn't about what you've done, haven't done or will do, but rather who you are?

This series reminds us that despite the uncertainty of the world and the pressure we place on ourselves, Scripture directs us to release that anxiety to God. Relational Vampires - Hypocritical People (Week 4)
There are some people that just seem to suck the life out of us. Some are endlessly needy; others complain. Some you can’t trust because they’re manipulative, or just hypocrites. We know we’re supposed to love them, but honestly, sometimes it’s just plain difficult. In this series, we’ll be putting a name to this type of person: Relational Vampires. We’ll recognize that these people are all around us draining our energy, and that it’s easy to fall under their spell and become vampires ourselves. Instead of running from or fighting with these vampires, though, we will learn how God can use us to bring love into their lives.
