Bev Jones ON: Burnout, Self-Care and Escaping the Corporate World
Welcome back to another episode of The Inspired Narrative. On today's episode I am joined by Bev Jones who experienced burnout and poor mental health 11 years ago. Shay Purser on: Men's Mental Health and Battling Mental Health
It was lovely to catch up with an old school friend who I hadn't seen nor spoken to for a good five years to record this podcast episode. Shay Purser is a 21-year-old professional wrestler and twitch streamer from Cardiff in the United Kingdom. Shay has faced and overcome many battles in the last five years, including dealing with sexual abuse and poor mental health that resulted because of this. Men's mental health is at crisis point, according to data by the Mental Health Foundation, men aged 40-49 have the highest suicide rates in the UK. Shay kicked off my first guest feature podcast episode perfectly through being open and honest about his experiences in the hopes that it may bring comfort to somebody else. Shay also discusses various sides of wrestling that are unknown to many, both within the wrestling community and outside of it. For the last month, he has also been running a Twitch stream to raise money for local food banks. Next month the focus will be on mental health. Believing in Yourself, Overcoming Past Selves and Adapting to Change
Welcome back to another episode! Today's podcast episode looks at self-belief, how to overcome the people we once were and the regrets we have from those times as well as adapting to change. A short but sweet episode, we look at how we can take back control from self-doubting thoughts and use a "train stations" analogy to put this into practise. We can be our own worst enemy OR we can be our greatest cheerleader, believing that we can achieve what we set out to achieve and rise above challenges and difficulties. Change is hard, it pushes us out of our comfort zone and into the unknown which is often deemed as dangerous. BUT this is where growth happens, this is where vulnerability happens, and vulnerability is us in our true state, providing us with a foundation to build upon.
