On the eve of Memorial Day, Jenny Diluzio, 6-year Army retiree and Iraq war veteran, joins me for a thorough discussion about what it's really like to live as a vet in the United States; social stigmas, the Veterans' Association, service dogs, Burning Man and much more.

Jenny was a member of the Lionesses, who were among the first women to see combat on the front lines with the infantry during the Iraq War.

In this heart-wrenching episode, we tow the party lines and shine a light on the shortcomings of the United States government and the private sector when it comes to taking care of those who have served.

Dr. Christian Shorey received a B.S. in Geology, a minor in Zoology. and a teaching degree from the University of Texas at Austin in '93, After teaching 8th grade Earth Science for a year he moved on to get a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa using cave formations to unravel past climates, and then transitioned into a faculty member there, which eventually led to his current position as the introductory geology teacher and assistant department head of the department of Geology and Geological engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He has been very focused on educational outreach in the past few years and in that role has created the Earth and Environmental Systems Podcast, and is currently working on the Earth Explorations video series. He is also a member of the Climate Rapid Response Team, and joins me to discuss the science behind climate change and other issues.
