The Midlife Movement

The Midlife Movement

By Jo Blackwell
For women who want to make the most of life after 45 - whatever that means to you! I'm Jo Blackwell and this podcast is part of my business, The Midlife Movement. We make the midlife transition easier through support and community & via the fabulous courses & resources, delivered by hand picked coaches. It's about so much more than menopause, though, of course, we deal with that too! Our aim is to help as many women as possible see the opportunity rather than the crisis in midlife! Campaigning for Fair Pensions for Women in the UK, with Carol May
The Back to 60 Campaign recently took the UK Government to court over the decision to raise the pension age for women born in the 50s and 60s. At the time of this conversation, the case was in judicial review. The Supreme Court ultimately ruled for the Government. as the aim is to bring women's pension age in line with men's. The campaign's argument regarding the fairness of the speed of the changes does not seem to have been addressed. Campaigner, Carol May, explains what is happening, and why women should take control of their own finances at whatever age or stage they are at.

Our Changing Faces with Lucy Boulter & Jane McCourt
On 24th September, The Midlife Movement was featured on The BBC Regional Evening News. Specifically, the. Portrait Project, Face it, Own it! was the subject of the segment. This Project aims to show the natural beauty of women 40 plus - without make-up.  Of course, this meant that I had to appear on National TV without make-up myself, which threw up a lot of issues for me around visibility, worthiness and fear of judgement.  In this episode, the two Midlife Movement members I invited to take part in the segment, Lucy Boulter and Jane McCourt, chat with me about the day, how it felt to be exposed to the glare of the camera and how they feel about their appearance in midlife.  If you are a woman 40+ who would like to take part, you can upload your no make-up selfie. quickly, easily and securely on the website: www.themidlifemovement.com/face-it-own-it
