This week we are back at full strength, and we talk about campaign financier George Nader's indictment, the subpoenas on President Trump's financial records, the upcoming Judicial Committee hearing, a spirited debate about the impeachment process, and Trump's mental fitness. We also talk about another crazy Survivor tribal council that had a surprisingly lackluster conclusion.
Admittedly, this week wasn't our best work. Interruptions and technical difficulties played a big role in the show. But, we were able to talk about some convenient omissions by the MSM, the big snow storm in the So Cal mountains, and Survivor. Hopefully we get back on track next week.
The impeachment inquiry hearings wrapped up this week, and a lot of talk surrounded the alleged corruption around two specific items Donald Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into. But what is CrowdStrike? And what is Burisma? Who is the prosecutor that Biden pushed to get fired? We will get into all of that, plus a new study on vaccines and autism, and the latest on Survivor.
In another long episode, we talk about the Roger Stone trial and its implications and the first public impeachment inquiry hearings. We also talk about a new podcast, American Election: Wicked Game, which looks at the history of each election starting with George Washington's election in 1789. We also talk about the latest from Survivor, which had a pretty fascinating double episode this week.
On this jam packed Veteran's Day edition of TMP, we talk about some of my dad's time in the military, the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Donald Trump, Jr.'s appearance on The View, and the upcoming public impeachment hearings. We also catch up on Survivor, talk a little wrestling, and we have some Seinfeld references.
In this special episode, I discuss the psychology of conspiracy theories, as well as some of the more prominent ones. I also talk about a couple of political conspiracy theories and where the truth lies in them.
In addition, I talk about some of my favorite podcasts. You can find out more about them in the links below.

Hillary is still bitter. Impeachment is still the top thing in the news, so of course we are talking about it. We also talk about the Democratic candidates and who Dad, who is still a registered Democrat, will support in the primary. We catch up on Survivor, the World Series, talk a little golf, and wrap it up with some hockey talk.
Twitter has been lit up with #deletefacebook and we'll get into what that all means. We also talk about impeachments thoughts: then and now, the latest out of Syria, and a new Tesla feature. Finally, we talk a little bit about the Dodgers loss (or the Nationals win, depending on how you look at it).
After an almost three and a half month absence, the Moderate Podcast is back! My new co-host, my dad, and I get into the Trump impeachment inquiry, withdrawal from Syria, Ellen and George W. Bush, and the first three weeks of Survivor.
In the final part of my three-part series looking into impeachment, I take an in-depth look into the impeachment that never was...because President Nixon resigned before it could happen. We also talk about Mueller's statement and Trump's tariff on Mexico.
This week, I begin a three-part series in looking at impeachment (or, in one case, almost impeachment). The similarities we are seeing in today's political climate are striking to things we have seen in our history. In part 1, I talk about what led to the impeachment of our Seventeenth President, Andrew Johnson.
I'm back after a few weeks off talking about "poor shaming" and the Mueller Report. As we found from the Barr summary of the report, people's minds still aren't changing: if you supported Trump, you probably haven't read it and, therefore, your mind hasn't changed. If you don't support him, you still don't. The sad part is that the report actually shows how involved Trump was and all the measures he took to try and kill, limit, or interfere with the investigation, which is curious since the report also found that the Trump campaign did not actually work directly with the Russians to sway public opinion (i.e. "hack" the election).
This week, I've got a little bit of everything. We hit some interesting stories, talk a bit about the request for Trump's tax returns, and look at what the right thinks is a big hit but is more likely a major dud.
It looks like the Democrats are really doing their best to re-elected Donald Trump, by having way too many people running and sabotaging their best chance at victory. Also, not so fast on those Mueller Report conclusions! All that, this week on the Moderate Podcast!
This week on the show, the theme is nothing has changed. Charter schools still are allowed to bilk the California taxpayer, and the Mueller Report's release has done nothing to put a close to that "Russia thing".
Of course we talk about that whole rich people college scandal, as I'm sure many other shows. Hopefully you find we will come at it from a slightly different angle. I also touched upon the latest entry into the Democratic primary and the "testicular bill of rights" legislation in Georgia.
This week, I talk about accusations of how disasters are handled based on political leanings, the Democratic nomination field, and the "epidemic" of "whitesplaining".
This week, I take a break from the current news and look back at the subprime mortgage crisis, which led to the Great Recession. I talk about the things that lead up to the crisis, and how we didn't learn from history and, sadly, might still repeat history in the future.
I meant to get to a lot more than I did this week, but I kept going on tangents and spent more time talking about some things than I had expected. This week, I touch on more Amazon stuff (their pullout from NYC and their tax bill), Mueller vs. Trump, and a couple of other tidbits.
This week, I talk about various inconsistencies on various issues such as gun control and abortion, the death of Payless Shoes, Amazon's decision not to locate in NYC, and the deal to avoid another government shutdown with a side of national emergency and subsequent lawsuits.
This week, I am kind of all over the place as I talk about Trump and the Mueller investigation, how well AOC's Green New Deal Resolution went over, and the political mess in Virginia.
This week, I talk about local government. I get into the lawsuit that California Governor Gavin Newsom filed against the City of Huntington Beach. Also, I talk about the 2019 Financial State of the Cities report from Truth in Accounting. How much "truth" is there to their accounting? Listen to find out! (Hint: This week, liberals nor conservatives are safe this week...)
The government shutdown appears to be ending. But is the re-opening only temporary? And is there a better way to deal with immigration? Also, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez predicts that the world will end in 12 years. Do I give "zero" f---s?
It's a quick takes episode! This week, I follow up on a couple of points from last week's show, the LAUSD teachers' strike, an update on the shutdown and the peeing contest between Trump and Pelosi, what Trump really meant about Mexico paying for the wall, and the new "controversial" Gillette commercial.
This week, I discuss the APA's take on "traditional masculinity," Trump's first Oval Office address, and the lofty goal that was discussed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on 60 Minutes.
In the first episode of 2019, I get into what I think will happen with the government shutdown, why moderate politics is really the prevailing political philosophy but won't take hold, as well as some other news and notes, including a tribute to the late, great "Mean" Gene Okerlund. Happy New Year!
First we have some business as I follow up on the previous episode regarding charter schools and I cover some of the new California laws coming January 1. Then, it gets fun with interviews with all three of my kids!
I know it's been a month...it's just been a crazy busy time! Today, I talk about an online charter school in Arizona who's CEO is raking in the cash. I also talk about a highly successful charter school that my kids used to attend and how it all came tumbling down.
I get into a bunch of different issues this week, including a Twitter debate on "voter fraud", Trump firing Jeff Sessions, Trump vs. Jim Acosta, Ivanka Trump's e-mails, and the wild fires. Happy Thanksgiving!
In this special episode, my dad joins me to talk about the midterm elections this past Tuesday and the latest fires in California. Thank you to all of our veterans for helping keeping us free. I couldn't do this podcast without the freedom you have fought for!
In this somewhat extended episode, Jimmy dives into the California propositions. Get the last minute scoop on the potential laws that may or may not change your life. If you don't live in California, well, you can get a glimpse as to why that might not be so bad (it's not all glorious like you see during the Rose Parade).
First, a caveat: this episode was actually recorded on Tuesday afternoon, but I was not able to upload until today. Nonetheless, in this brief episode, I do my best to handicap where I think the midterm elections will go for the House and Senate. Enjoy!
Bernie Sanders could arguably be called the father of the modern Democratic Socialist movement in the United States, and candidates like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are adding to the numbers in Congress promoting it. The Nordic Model seems to be the thing they are vying for, but can that even work in the United States, much less be a movement that the people of the US would support?
With the confirmation of now Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Jimmy gives some final thoughts on the confirmation process and what one of the lessons that ought to be from this whole thing. Also, who can guess the connection to this episode's bumper music?
There wasn't much to talk about this week...other than that whole Ford-Kavanaugh hearing. Jimmy also gripes about a couple of things that he didn't like.
The Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings begin tomorrow, so we look into some background on Judge Kavanaugh and how his appointment could affect the country. Also, we talk about a case that could be heard by the Supreme Court. Finally, my boys join me to talk about what they've been learning in school so far.
In this special bonus episode of The Moderate Podcast, my dad joins me to talk about John McCain's funeral, Ron DeSantis' "monkey around" comment, and the upcoming November elections and how Trump's Russia problem might play into them.
A jam packed edition of Quick Takes. A follow up to Episode 10, In-n-out boycott, Trump vs. Google, federal employee raises (or lack thereof), and economic credit...whew!
Tuesday was a tough day for the President, as Paul Manafort was found guilty on eight charges and Michael Cohen pleads guilty to several charges, including two that would seem to implicate the President. But what does this all mean? Will this be President Trump's downfall? And does this all sound vaguely familiar? We break it all down for you on the Moderate Podcast!
Fresh off of his conviction on 8 financial crimes, we look into who Paul Manafort is. What does this mean for President Trump? Also, we do a quick follow up on our coverage of the "truth isn't truth" segment that we talked about on Episode 7.
In this episode, Jimmy admits that he's wrong. Also, he does quick takes on Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren, the Alex Jones ban, and flag bans at U.S. embassies.
With LeBron James taking on the President in a Don Lemon interview, the President went on the offense on Twitter. Also, NFL preseason games involved some protests during the National Anthem. Finally, is it racist if a nonwhite person makes derogatory comments about white people? There's a lot to talk about on this episode of The Moderate Podcast!
I get to geek out a bit in this episode, talking about one of my favorite topics: water. The President went after California Governor Jerry Brown in a pair of tweets in regards to the California wildfires...but was his criticism on the mark?
In the first real (albeit abbrieviated) episode of The Moderate Podcast, we get into the latest twist in Russian meddling in the 2016 election, with the President now saying the July 2016 with a Russian attorney WAS about getting dirt on "an opponent". Hope you enjoy!
