118: Setting Limits
The theme this week is limits, in that we talk about term limits and the potential limiting of gun ownership (after the shootings in Atlanta and Boulder). We also discuss the media's coverage of President Biden's trip going up the stairs of Air Force One versus its coverage of President Trump's walk down a ramp back in June, Trump's statement during an interview regarding the Capitol riots, and the CDC's new guidance on social distancing in schools.

117: On the Border
This week, I dive into the issue of illegal immigration and the current "crisis" along the border. Also, I discuss the latest in my new home woes, the Tiger Woods crash, a graphic posted by a relative that has me simply shaking my head in shame, and some revealing (but not very earth shattering) text exchanges between Bay Area county health officers.
116: America's Vote
This week, I discuss the Right to Vote Act (H.R. 1) and some new approved or proposed voting laws in Georgia and Iowa. In that context, I also discuss the ramifications of voter ID laws. I also discuss more cancellations, a "shocking" article on coronavirus cases, some lesser reviewed aspects of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, and tweets from UTLA and 365Diversity.
115: Stimuli
This week, I get into the stimulus package that's in the works, the Dr. Seuss "controversy", COVID deaths, the COVID economy, and minimum wage.
114: Tit for Tat
This week, my kids join me to talk about what they have been up to lately, how they have liked Zoom school and how it has changed over the last year, and what they are looking forward to when going back to school in person for the first time in over a year. We also talk about the sexual harassment allegations against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, more news bias, and CPAC and the direction of the GOP and conservatives.
113: Powerless
This week, we dive into the Texas cold snap and related power issues, and why it's not too surprising that something like this happened. We also talk about the death of Rush Limbaugh and a school board that inadvertently got itself into some hot water.
112: Ross Benes - Rural Rebellion
This week, I am joined by Ross Benes, author of "Rural Rebellion: How Nebraska Became a Republican Stronghold". We talk about the book and how modern politics and social media have widen the ideological gap rather than narrow it.
We also talk about the impeachment trial of Donald Trump, the latest Q-Anon conspiracy, Trump's actual COVID condition, and the CDC's guidance on school reopening.

111: Hypocrisy is Perfectly Acceptable Now
We have talked about this before, but we are addressing it again: hypocrisy. Now, people are now openly hypocritical and NO ONE CARES. I point out a number of examples on the left and right of this phenomenon. Also, we talk about an article in Time that supposedly outlines the "rigging" of the 2020 election. Here's a link to the full article: The Secret Bipartisan Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election

Best of TMP - So Cal Freeways
103: Alexanders
This week, we take a look back at the election of 1800, which had its election stealing saga of its own. Also, my son Alex joins me to talk about a variety of things.
102: Fairy Tales
This week, we cover a spectacular interview with Michael Flynn that will...well, just listen because it's really hard to describe how you will view it unless you listen to me break it down. We also talk about some of the infighting with the Democrats and how that all might play out in the Biden Administration.
101: The Kraken
This week, the kraken was released (I think?). We talk about the explosive and convincing press conference of Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, as well as one of their experts' affidavit. We also talk about the new Coronavirus vaccines and a recent appellate court decision regarding Harvard University and affirmative action.

On this special episode of The Moderate Podcast, I reflect back on the first 99 episodes of the podcast and how I am still in awe of how I have stuck with this and made it this far. Episode 99 - Post Game Analysis
Well, although President Trump is challenging the results (shocker), it looks like we have a winner. I talk about the Presidential race, as well as results in some of the California propositions I had talked about previously, the race to control the Senate, and I finish up by talking about where we go from here.

Episode 97 - Battleground: Arizona
This week, we talk about a state that finds itself in the national spotlight of Presidential politics for the first time since possibly 2008 (and that was only because the Republican nominee was from the state). Arizona is finding out what it's like to be a swing state. Will it swing the other way, or do what it has consistently done since 1952? We also talk about the absurd and virtually impossible threshold to open amusement parks in California, Republican Senators and their relationships and ties to Donald Trump, and the second and final Presidential debate.

Also, we talk briefly about the dueling town halls, Hunter Biden's e-mails, Amy Coney Barrett's Senate Judiciary Committee, and a follow up on last week and how political tribalism is running rampant in America.
I also mentioned the podcast California City. Check it out here.

In this week's episode, we continue our Battleground series as we explore the surprise victory for Donald Trump in Wisconsin in 2016, and what 2020 is shaping up to look like there. We also explore California Propositions 16 and 19, and touch upon the President's tax returns and COVID diagnosis.

Episode 90 - The Gig is Up
On this Labor Day Weekend, we are talking about the state of the gig economy in California and how Proposition 22 hopes to change that. We also talk about Trump's alleged remarks about troops, Nancy Pelosi's hair, Trump "encouraging" election fraud, Big Brother, and the latest Presidential polling numbers.
Episode 89 - The Card is Set
This week, we talk about the Presidential matchup now that it is officially set, including each of the candidate's acceptance speeches. We also talk about the officer-involved shooting in Kenosha, WI, the protester clash in Portland, and some data about police shootings by race. We also talk about election security briefings, Big Brother, and I end the show by giving you my prediction on what will happen with the Presidential race.
Episode 88 - What is Q?
No, we are not playing Jeopardy! this week. In this episode, I discuss the surprisingly little-discussed Senate report on Trump campaign discussions with Russia, a controversy with Goodyear, and the hidden issue with Trump's payroll tax holiday. I also get into the whole QAnon thing and where it came from and my own "conspiracy theory" as to who is actually behind it. Finally, I talk about Memphis's reign in week 2 of Big Brother.
Episode 87 - Taking the Heat
This week, we talk about a ridiculously optimistic electoral vote map, the SHOCKING pick for the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee, challenges for voting by mail, and this past week's Big Brother activity.

Episode 86 - Who's the VP?
My dad joins me to talk about some of the history and ramifications of getting a lack of a majority in the electoral college. We also speculate on who Joe Biden's VP candidate will be (which we thought we would have a decision on by now), and we talk about this week's return of Big Brother!
Episode 85 - Too Close to Call
This week, we dive into some early numbers on the 2020 election, but as the 2016 election would remind us, it is way too soon to make any predictions on where this will go, especially given how close the swing states are. And since it is almost a guarantee Trump will dispute the results if he loses, we talk about the closest election in our nation's history...and I'm not talking about Bush v. Gore.

We are 100 days out from the 2020 General Election, so we talk about politics, including Joe Biden's leading VP hopefuls, how the House is shaping up, and a look at some of the tossup Senate races. We also talk about the Big Brother premiere, baseball's return, the new Seattle NHL team, and actual deaths in 2020 (from all causes) compared to the past 5 years.
Episode 83 - Disingenuous
Episode 82 - Historical Perspectives
This week, my dad joins the podcast to talk about the #cancelhamilton movement, and cancel culture in general, as well as some of the history around the electoral college, Civil War, and California statehood. We also talk about the possible return of Big Brother and the return of the NHL, NBA, and NFL.
Episode 81 - Rage Against the Mask
I don't know what it is, but people have all of these (stupid) reasons why they don't want to wear a mask. Is it because they simply don't like to be told what to do? Is it because they only care about themselves and "aren't afraid of the virus"? Is it because of some vast left wing conspiracy? Who knows! But we talk about it all on today's program.
Also, we talk about President Trump's speech at Mt. Rushmore and, as a special treat, my kids come on to talk about their Zoom learning experience and how they see the next school year going.
Episode 80 - Conflicts and Confusion
This week, I address a video sent to me by a listener about the switch in the parties. Also, I talk about the confusion involving Bubba Wallace and the hangings in the High Desert region of Southern California, a new encryption act introduced in the Senate, Trump's COVID testing joke, and the return of Major League Baseball.
Episode 79 - Do We Really Want to Solve the Problem?
WARNING: This week's episode contains contains some strong language and content, not suitable for kids. Listener discretion is advised.
First of all, I apologize for the length of this episode...but when you're trying to tackle such a complex issue, it's going to get long. This week, I dive deep into racism and what the left and right are saying the problems are. But do they offer solutions? Do they even agree what the problems are? Or how to solve them? I get into all of it, and how this issue might get fixed once and for all.
Episode 78 - A Little Bit of Everything
It's the second weekend of the month, which means my dad is on the show this week! Coming to a day earlier than normal, we talk a little bit about a variety of subjects in terms of what's going on the world right now, including police brutality, the Coronavirus, presidential politics, and the Confederate flag.

Episode 76 - Going Nuckin' Futs
As if it wasn't crazy enough, the world has gotten even crazier in the past week. We talk about Trump going off the deep end on several subjects, some of the activity at the State Department, and of course, the murder of George Floyd.
Episode 75 - The Instincts of Politics
This week, I get into the instincts and psychology of politics and why there is a difference between what's happening in blue states versus red states during this pandemic. I also talk about the myths from the "documentary" Plandemic and the latest Joe Biden gaffe.
Episode 74 - The Curious Case of Mr. Flynn
Episode 73 - Adventures in Quarantine
Dad is back this week, and he had to make up for lost time apparently! We didn't get to a lot of what we wanted to talk about, but we did share some quarantine stories as well as more 'rona talk.
Episode 72 - By the Numbers
This week, Jimmy is flying solo, talking about Justin Amash and his bid for the Libertarian Party candidacy, the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, and the flu numbers in recent years that are supposedly as bad as the COVID numbers (spoiler alert...they aren't).
