The snowboarding print publication was printed between 1988 and 1990, it focused on snowboarding in Australia with some overseas features. After receiving a package of Australian retro snowboarding treasures from Thor Prohaska, including some copies of the Snowboarders Edge magazine. Rouchelle has decided to read out older stories periodically. Story read out was 'Why Don't You Come Over?' and written by Peter Rob-O, from Vol. 2 Winter Edition. Fighting Fires Around Dinner Plain And A Passion For Mountains - Cam Walker
The Australian mountains are a magical region according to Cam Walker, he shares his connection. He has a blog called the Mountain Journal, which captures a lot of Australian mountain related topics. The Australian Backcountry Festival out of Mt Hotham, in Victoria is run by Cam. This chat also discusses some environmental issues which affect the Australian Alpine region. Starting Australian Snowboarding History: A Political Experience - Thor Prohaska
From seeing a snowboard in Tracks Surf Magazine to inventing snowboards for Australian mountains, to fighting for snowboarding to be allowed in resorts. Thor Prohaska had a vast influence in the evolution of snowboarding becoming mainstream in Australia. His journey started out with inventing snowboards in Australia in the early 1980s which lead to fighting for snowboarding to be allowed in the Victorian resorts in Australia. They were banned. Causing the formation of the Snowboard Riders of Victoria, he was the first president. All the while this promoted and helped build the snowboarding landscape in Australia. Starting The Ski Instructor Diaries, a necessary blog for ski instructors - with Oriane Lister & Georgina Cunningham
Chat with Co-founders of the Ski Instructor Diaries, about why they started this website and why they are filling a necessary gap in the ski industry. Oriane Lister and Georgina Cunningham are two pretty new ski instructors who only have a couple of seasons under their belt but, don't let that fool you. Deano Sheppard - Part 1 - Paralympic Movement, 1992 And 1994 Winter Paralympics
A chat with Dean Sheppard or Deano. A long term Mount Hotham, Victoria, Australia, skier and coach, known for his work with adaptive skiing. He started skiing at Mt Hotham in 1969 as a small child and has gone on to have a career in skiing. By 1989 he was a fully certified Australian Professional Snowsports Ski Instructor.
