I could never do... |254
On this episode Will and Dalton discuss how they navigate when their clients say, "they could never do..." insert activity of choice.
When it comes to getting the outcomes we are looking for with clients, mindset is a big part of it. Having a fixed or closed mindset can really impact this. Its important try to understand why a person thinks the way that they think. It may not be about changing their mind, but understanding where they are at.

When it comes to behaviour change telling someone is not always the best solution. Since we are in the game of behaviour change we need figure out the best ways to help clients through this process.

On this episode Will and Dalton sit down and take you through two exercises that have helped shape a compass for their career. We here often from people that they don't feel fulfilled in their current role as a healthcare provider and it has lead them to feel burnt out.
We think part of what leads to this is we don't take enough time to establish a guiding framework for our careers and how we want to show up on a daily basis.
What are you values? What do you admire in a physio/HCP? What don't you admire? Do you have a why for what you do?
It is important to establish these as early as you can in your career so that you have a compass to guide in through what type of job to take or what courses you want to further your education with.

This mindset shift changed my career with Yara Jabre |221
On this episode we sit down with Yara Jabre and do our first mentee interview! Yara was part of our founding cohort and had a big impact on the success of our mentorship. She is a new grad physiotherapist who currently works in Quebec and has a passion for both MSK and pelvic health rehab.
During this conversation we talk with Yara about why she got into physiotherapy, what were some of her struggles as a new grad, and how she had a mindset shift that she believes will greatly impact her career.
What drives our mentorship is the people. Our first cohort set such high expectation for the type of people we are looking to work with and learn from. Yara was a big contributor to this and you will see why after listening to the is episode.

Why constantly repeating the plan to your client isn't bad |220
On this episode Will and Dalton sit down to discuss why even though you think you are repeating yourself too much...you aren't.
As clinicians we have a ton of knowledge in the realm of rehab. So when we simplify ideas and communicate them to clients we can sometimes think that aren't very valuable.
We are here to tell you that they are and that you probably need to be communicating them more frequently.

Are you focusing on the process or the outcome? |219
On this episode will sit down and talk about the process. We know this is a cliche statement but sometimes things are cliche for a reason. We all often talk about focusing on the process but what does that really mean?
Focusing on the process is a big focus at The Movement this quarter and we thought we would share some of our thoughts with you all about how we approach this idea.

Utilizing your objective testing for your client...not you! |218
On this episode Will and Dalton reunite on the podcast after Will be on daddy duty. During this conversation we dive into how we utilize our objective testing to help teach/guide our clients instead of just extracting as much data as we can for ourselves.
We have found that clinicians get caught up in doing way too many special tests to get information to give a diagnosis versus using tests intentionally to teach and guide your client to learning more about themselves.
We hope you enjoy this episode!

The importance of having frameworks |216
On this episode Will and Dalton sit down and talk about the importance of having frameworks for your practice. A common theme that has shown up in our mentorship over the last few weeks is that people realize they already do some of the important aspects we have been covering but that they have no structure for how to deliver this. That is why we have focused on implementing frameworks for our clinicians to use when delivering plans to their clients.During this conversation we hit on some of the reasons we feel like it is important to have these frameworks. This is important both for the clinician and the client.

Let me take sometime to get back to you |214
On today's episode Will and Dalton sit down and talk about why it is ok to tell you client that you need to take sometime to think and will get back to them later in the session. We have all been in that situation where we spend time preparing a session and you client comes in with a new issue or symptom and you really don't have an answer for why. During this conversation we discuss how we manage this situation to get the best out of our time with that client. We hope you enjoy.

Do you really need to communicate a diagnosis? |213
On this episode Will and Dalton sit down and discuss whether or not they think it is important to communicate a specific diagnosis. This has been a common topic of conversation in our mentorship and we tend to think that a specific diagnosis is not as important as you may think. As clinicians in school we are built to diagnosis everything. Which is why we probably put a lot of pressure on ourselves to provide this for a client.
We have found the more important piece to be identifying the clients problem which probably has more to do with them not being able to do what they love and communicating to them the steps we will take to help them solve their problem. We often find if this is done very well. The "specific diagnosis" is really not all that important.

From collective suffering to collective thriving |212
On this episode Will and Dalton sit down and talk about a thought that came out of the first cohort of The Movement Mentorship. We often find peace in knowing that other clinicians struggle with similar things as ourselves. Such as imposter syndrome or burn out. There is a sense of relief knowing we are not alone. But, what are we doing about it? Are we working to change our circumstances to arrive a some collective thriving?
During this conversation we discuss this concept, how we have thought about addressing it, and why it is important for us as a profession to explore this thought. We love thinking about the concepts and doing our best to help move the profession forward. We don't claim to have all the answers but we are doing our best to explore these topics and take action on them. As always we love your feedback!

Why you need to realize you have value to offer |211
On this episode Will and Dalton sit down to discuss why it is important to realize that you have value to offer as a clinician. Often times we are hesitant to communicate the value we have to offer to clients. This is often even more challenging when the client has reached their insurance limit. But, learning how to lean into these situations and communicating you value can be a massive difference maker in the outcome of the client. During this episode we discuss why we think you have value and the importance of trusting that and communicating it to your clients.

This one thing drives Dalton Crazy |205
On this episode Will and Dalton sit down to discuss a topic that has been driving Dalton crazy. It may be hard to believe but there are a few things out there that can trigger Dalton to get a little heated. It usually revolves around ice cream. But this topic today is the other one. We've been on social media for awhile now so we are bound to be triggered. Keep in mind that we understand how social media works and getting triggered by stuff is not the solution. We like the fact that once emotions have calmed we can actually dive into why we get bothered by stuff and try and come up with a logical solution.
We hope you enjoy this episode and would love your feedback on this thought.
