The Nigerian Space Show
By The Nigerian Space
This is the gathering of Nigerians in Diaspora, discussing issues and our concerns about Nigeria and everything that affects our country in general.
These discussions are just our own opinions and points of view about situations, but with the intention that our opinions will be helpful and will/can be considered to be adopted by those responsible for making changes in Nigeria (The People and Government).
Our Nation…Our Voice…Our change
As a side note, we may at some point have guests from other nationalities.

BACK TO THE ROOTS - IS AFROBEATS THE CATALYST?
The world has recently been showing interest in going back to the roots- Africa. All of a sudden because of the various police killings and racial discrimination going on around the world, more Africans and even non-Africans have been interested in finding out about their origin and roots. Just last year - 2019, Ghana held a festival called "Year of return" to welcome African descent from all over back to Ghana and give them an orientation about their background.
In today's episode, we will be discussing the effect of Afrobeat/Afrobeat's music in this sudden interest in Africa. And we will be trying to answer the question as to maybe Afrobeat has been the great catalyst responsible for this great exodus back to Africa!

CORONAVIRUS CURE AND AFRICAN MYTHS
Earlier this week Dr. Stella Immanuel (An African Doctor based in the US) broke the internet literally with a video filled with claims of a cure for COVID-19. Claiming to have cured over 300 patients. The cure being hydroxychloroquine and zinc! Now, this is not the first time someone has come out laying such claims of hydroxychloroquine being an effective cure for the virus. Additionally, we have heard of some African countries with claims to have some herbal concussions that can be used to cure the virus.
We have our in-house TNS medical practitioner friend and contributor, DR. Wale Ogunlana on the show today to shed some light on what the virus is really about, clarify some misconceptions and discuss the various treatment measures out there amongst Africans.

DIASPORA IMPACT ON GRASSROOTS REORIENTATION
We’ve mentioned it time and time again about holding our leaders accountable so that we can actually see the real change that we desire in Nigeria. But how do we really start bringing that to effect? The team on TNS has always been a believer in educating and reorienting the grassroots, then, change and leadership can be held accountable.
An article by Are Kolawole written in 1983 (Centre for social and economic research, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Nigeria) states "The Present direct approach to National development planning relies heavily on the change agents to the detriment of the target groups, the rural masses. As a result, the rural population who are supposed to be the focus of development are not only alienated but also isolated from the conception, formulation, and implementation of plans."
