July 16 - World Updates - Did Russia Meddle in UK's 2019 Elections

Did Russia meddle in General Elections of United Kingdom?? That issue is raised by Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab who told the parliament, "On the basis of extensive analysis, the government has concluded that it is almost certain that Russian actors sought to interfere in the 2019 general election through the online amplification of illicitly acquired and leaked government documents." He further talked of the trade deal saying “Sensitive government documents relating to the UK-US Free Trade Agreement were illicitly acquired before the 2019 general election and disseminated online via the social media platform Reddit." Philippine  President Rodrigo Duterte signed the anti-terrorism bill on Friday,  which will come into force in the coming weeks. This will widen the  definition of 'terrorism' to cover incitement and will permit  authorities to conduct surveillance of terrorist suspects for 60 days,  to arrest them without a warrant, and to hold them for 24 days.  Activists in the country are skeptical of the motives and legality of  the legislation, saying the definition of terror is vague and Duterte  could use it to quell other democratic movements.
