We are bringing you a special episode of ‘The Park Presents’ podcast that was recorded on November 3rd, 2022 live at The Park Theater featuring indie-folk duo, Fort Vine. We caught up with them before their soundcheck to chat all things music and life. Here’s a snippet of our behind the scenes conversation before we got rolling.... sit back and enjoy!

Fort Vine performed in our 2022/23 'Live & Local' series. Trevor Tunison and Nyna Nelson are Fort Vine, the husband and wife indie-folk duo named after a secret tree fort in NYC that they built together when they first met in 2011. After playing shows with their full band in the big apple for over 6 years, Trevor and Nyna decided to take their show on the road as a duo. Traveling in their beautiful DIY-converted sprinter van, they have been on a perpetual music tour since 2018, traveling all across North America and even venturing across Europe. This tour continues, even today, and has become the duo’s chosen lifestyle.

Inspired by their van-life travels, Fort Vine’s music is full of feel-good lyrics, colorful harmonies, compelling stories and catchy rhythms. Fort Vine is sure to transport you straight to your happy place.

They will be performing on December 7th, 2023 as part of the 2023/24 'Live & Local' series.

This week we are chatting with rhythm guitarist, Chuck Kish, from Upstate New York's premiere gypsy swing ensemble, Hot Club of Saratoga.

Hot Club of Saratoga plays a repertoire that reflects the spirit and style originated by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in The Quintet of the Hot Club of France most prominent in the 1930’s. The instrumentation of the full quintet of the Hot Club of Saratoga, solo and rhythm guitars, string bass, violin, and clarinet/sax, allows them to explore this style throughout the range of its roots.

Chuck comes to gypsy jazz from a background of rock organ, folk music with guitar and some dulcimer, and most recently jazz guitar. He utilizes the unique rhythm style called “la pompe”, “the pump,” that provides both chordal backup and percussive drive. We hear about the bands origin story, his musical background and so much more!

The Hot Club of Saratoga will be performing in the first Summer Series Concert at the Crandall Park Bandshell on Friday, July 7th, 2023.
