Urban communities, over policing, & Hip-Hop Culture (with Guest Eric Muldrow)
In this episode, of The Proverbial Life,  Eric Muldrow from #CodeRedConversations have a conversation about policing and law-enforcement in poorer/urban communities. Are these areas over-policed? We are also going to discuss how (if at all) does hip-hop culture influence a person's perspective on law-enforcement. And what role does Fatherlessness have on a child and on a community?  These and several other topics will be discussed tonight. If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you?   - Define Terms:      - "Pledges" Join hands in a pledge, formally, clap hands, as a gesture to ratify a bargain (Pr 6:1; 17:18; 22:26); Put up a security, formally, hands be struck (Job 17:3, Note: this may have been like a hearty handshake, or possibly some other unknown action of joining the hands.   - Wisdom Says:      - Do not make agreements that you cannot fulfill.      - If you do not have the money to purchase and item you should restrain from that purchase. Why? "If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you?"       - Question:           - What should you do if you find yourself in this position?               - Proverbs 6:1-5-"My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, have given your pledge for a stranger, if you are snared in the words of your mouth, caught in the words of your mouth, then do this, my son, and save yourself, for you have come into the hand of your neighbor: go, hasten, and plead urgently with your neighbor. Give your eyes no sleep and your eyelids no slumber; save yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the hand of the fowler."              - Proverbs 26:15-"Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer harm, but he who hates striking hands in pledge is secure."              - Proverbs 17:18-"One who lacks sense gives a pledge and puts up security in the presence of his neighbor."

Wicked-Unrighteous, i.e., pertaining to being evil, with a focus on the guilt of violating a standard (2Sa 4:11); 2. guilty, i.e., pertaining to being legally not innocent of a violation of law (Ps 109:7) - Proverbs 21:4-Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin.  - Proverbs 21:The violence of the wicked will sweep them away, because they refuse to do what is just.  - Proverbs 21:10-The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.  - Proverbs 21:12-The Righteous One observes the house of the wicked; he throws the wicked down to ruin.  - Proverbs 21:18-The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, and the traitor for the upright.  - Proverbs 21:27–The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; how much more when he brings it with evil intent.  - Proverbs 21:29-A wicked man puts on a bold face, but the upright gives thought to his ways. Proverbs with Edwin: Proverbs 20:3 Two types of people
Proverbs 20:3- It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling  - There are two people here:       - One keeps away from strife (Wisdom)      - The other is always in a hostile dispute (Foolish)      - One conducts himself respectfully/with honor (Wisdom)       - The conducts himself with dishonor (Foolish)      - One seems to be characterized by honor (Wisdom)      - The other seems to be characterized by dishonor (Foolish)  At the core of these two men, there seems to be a radical difference. They have completely different ends.   Website-Theproverbiallife.com    Ways to Support the Ministry    Merch- https://teespring.com/stores/the-prov... Proverbs with Edwin: Proverbs 18:2-Why the fool can never learn
Proverbs 18:2-A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. Website-Theproverbiallife.com Ways to Support the Ministry Merch- https://teespring.com/stores/the-proverbial-life Patreon.com/ProverbialLife PayPal-Teameramirez@gmail.com CashApp-$teameramirez Venmo-Edwin-Ramirez-75 Brief Outline  Terms: Understanding: The fool takes no pleasure in wisdom and insight, a capacity for discerning a right course of action. Opinion: heart, i.e., the blood pumping organ of the body, mind, soul, spirit, self, i.e., the source of life of the inner person in various aspects, with a focus on feelings, thoughts, volition, and other areas of the inner life. {KJV} Proverbs 18:2-A fool hath no delight in understanding, But that his heart may discover itself. The fool is not interested in looking outside of himself but he is only interested in looking within. Questions: Why doesn't the fool take pleasure in understanding? Why does he only take pleasure in expressing his own opinion (or his own heart)? What does the bible have to say about the heart of man? Answer: The fool takes no pleasure in receiving wisdom and insight and would rather express his opinion because he is full of his own pride. To him all the answers of life are within Himself. In other words, he is his own god. All revelation is within and not outward. The problem is that the fool does not understand that his heart (his entire being-His mind, soul, spirit, his inner person) is decetful above all else.

Proverbs with Edwin- The Purpose of the Proverbs: Proverbs 1:2-"To Know Wisdom."
The Purpose of Proverbs  Proverbs 1:1-7- 1The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: 2To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, 3to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; 4to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— 5Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, 6to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles. 7The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. What is Wisdom? "Wisdom is a moral rather than an intellectual quality. To be “foolish” is to be godless (Ps. 14:1; comp. Judg. 19:23; 2 Sam. 13:13). True wisdom is a gift from God to those who ask it (Job 28:12–28; Prov. 3:13–18; Rom. 1:22; 16:27; 1 Cor. 1:17–21; 2:6–8; James 1:5). “Wisdom” in Prov. 1:20; 8:1; 9:1–5 may be regarded not as a mere personification of the attribute of wisdom, but as a divine person, “Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Cor. 1:24). In Matt. 11:19 it is the personified principle of wisdom that is meant."  V.2- "To know wisdom" Proverbs 4:5–7-"Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight." Proverbs 7:4-5-"Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call insight your intimate friend, to keep you from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words." Proverbs 8:5-"O simple ones, learn prudence; O fools, learn sense." Proverbs 16:16-"How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver." Proverbs with Edwin- Proverbs 28:1- "The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
Proverbs 28:1- “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” Leviticus 26:7–9 (ESV) 7You shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. 8Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand, and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. 9I will turn to you and make you fruitful and multiply you and will confirm my covenant with you. Psalm 112:1–10 (ESV) 1Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! 2His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. 3Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. 4Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. 5It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. 6For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. 7He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. 8His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries. 9He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor. 10The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked will perish! 20:title  To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. 1  May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you! 2  May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion! 3  May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah 4  May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! 5  May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions! 6  Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. 7  Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. 8  They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright. 9  O Lord, save the king! May he answer us when we call. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 20:title–9.

Morning Meditation- Scripture Reading (Psalm 19)
19:title  To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. 1  The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. 2  Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. 3  There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. 4  Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, 5  which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. 6  Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat. 7  The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8  the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9  the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. 10  More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 11  Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. 12  Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. 13  Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. 14  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 19

17:title  A Prayer of David. 1  Hear a just cause, O Lord; attend to my cry! Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit! 2  From your presence let my vindication come! Let your eyes behold the right! 3  You have tried my heart, you have visited me by night, you have tested me, and you will find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress. 4  With regard to the works of man, by the word of your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent. 5  My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped. 6  I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me; hear my words. 7  Wondrously show your steadfast love, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand. 8  Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, 9  from the wicked who do me violence, my deadly enemies who surround me. 10  They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly. 11  They have now surrounded our steps; they set their eyes to cast us to the ground. 12  He is like a lion eager to tear, as a young lion lurking in ambush. 13  Arise, O Lord! Confront him, subdue him! Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword, 14  from men by your hand, O Lord, from men of the world whose portion is in this life. You fill their womb with treasure; they are satisfied with children, and they leave their abundance to their infants. 15  As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 17

16:title  A Miktam of David. 1  Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. 2  I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” 3  As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight. 4  The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. 5  The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. 6  The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. 7  I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. 8  I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. 9  Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. 10  For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. 11  You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 16:title–17:title.

Morning Meditation-Scripture Reading (Psalm 15)
15:title  A Psalm of David. 1  O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? 2  He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart; 3  who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend; 4  in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5  who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 15:title–16:title.

Morning Meditation-Scripture Reading (Psalm 14)
14:title  To the choirmaster. Of David. 1  The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good. 2  The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. 3  They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. 4  Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the Lord? 5  There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous. 6  You would shame the plans of the poor, but the Lord is his refuge. 7  Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 14

Morning Meditation-Scripture Reading (Psalm 13)
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. 1  How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2  How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? 3  Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, 4  lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken. 5  But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. 6  I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 13:title–6.

Morning Mediation-Scripture Reading (Psalm 12)
12:title  To the choirmaster: according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David. 1  Save, O Lord, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man. 2  Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak. 3  May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that makes great boasts, 4  those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?” 5  “Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.” 6  The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times. 7  You, O Lord, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever. 8  On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of man. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 12

Morning Meditation-Scripture Reading (Psalm 11)
11:title  To the choirmaster. Of David. 1  In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to my soul, “Flee like a bird to your mountain, 2  for behold, the wicked bend the bow; they have fitted their arrow to the string to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart; 3  if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” 4  The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes see, his eyelids test the children of man. 5  The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. 6  Let him rain coals on the wicked; fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup. 7  For the Lord is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face. Morning Meditation-Scripture Reading (Psalm 10)
10:1  Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? 2  In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. 3  For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord. 4  In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” 5  His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them. 6  He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity.” 7  His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity. 8  He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless; 9  he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net. 10  The helpless are crushed, sink down, and fall by his might. 11  He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.” 12  Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand; forget not the afflicted. 13  Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, “You will not call to account”? 14  But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless. 15  Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none. 16  The Lord is king forever and ever; the nations perish from his land. 17  O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear 18  to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 10

Morning Meditation-Scripture Reading (Psalm 9)
9:title   To the choirmaster: according to Muth-labben. A Psalm of David. 1  I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. 2  I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. 3  When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before your presence. 4  For you have maintained my just cause; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment. 5  You have rebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish; you have blotted out their name forever and ever. 6  The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins; their cities you rooted out; the very memory of them has perished. 7  But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice, 8  and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness. 9  The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. 10  And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. 11  Sing praises to the Lord, who sits enthroned in Zion! Tell among the peoples his deeds! 12  For he who avenges blood is mindful of them; he does not forget the cry of the afflicted. 13  Be gracious to me, O Lord! See my affliction from those who hate me, O you who lift me up from the gates of death, 14  that I may recount all your praises, that in the gates of the daughter of Zion I may rejoice in your salvation. 15  The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught. 16  The Lord has made himself known; he has executed judgment; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. Higgaion. Selah 17  The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God. 18  For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever. 19  Arise, O Lord! Let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before you! 20  Put them in fear, O Lord! Let the nations know that they are but men! Morning Meditation-Scripture Reading (Psalm 8)
8:title  To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David. 1  O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2  Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. 3  When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4  what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5  Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6  You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, 7  all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8  the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9  O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Morning Meditation- Scripture Reading (Psalm 7)
7:title  A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite. 1  O Lord my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me, 2  lest like a lion they tear my soul apart, rending it in pieces, with none to deliver. 3  O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands, 4  if I have repaid my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause, 5  let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, and let him trample my life to the ground and lay my glory in the dust. Selah 6  Arise, O Lord, in your anger; lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies; awake for me; you have appointed a judgment. 7  Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about you; over it return on high. 8  The Lord judges the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me. 9  Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end, and may you establish the righteous— you who test the minds and hearts, O righteous God! 10  My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. 11  God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day. 12  If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and readied his bow; 13  he has prepared for him his deadly weapons, making his arrows fiery shafts. 14  Behold, the wicked man conceives evil and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies. 15  He makes a pit, digging it out, and falls into the hole that he has made. 16  His mischief returns upon his own head, and on his own skull his violence descends. 17  I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High. Morning Meditation- Scripture Reading (Psalm 6)
6:title  To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments; according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David. 1  O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath. 2  Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing; heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled. 3  My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O Lord—how long? 4  Turn, O Lord, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. 5  For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise? 6  I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping. 7  My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes. 8  Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping. 9  The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord accepts my prayer. 10  All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment. Morning Meditation-Scripture Reading (Psalm 5)
5:title  To the choirmaster: for the flutes. A Psalm of David. 1  Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my groaning. 2  Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. 3  O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. 4  For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. 5  The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. 6  You destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. 7  But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. 8  Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. 9  For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. 10  Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you. 11  But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. 12  For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 5

Morning Meditation- Scripture Reading (Psalm 4)
4:title  To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. 1  Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer! 2  O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah 3  But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. 4  Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah 5  Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the Lord. 6  There are many who say, “Who will show us some good? Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!” 7  You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. 8  In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 4:title–8.

3:title  A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. 1  O Lord, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; 2  many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah 3  But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. 4  I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah 5  I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me. 6  I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. 7  Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. 8  Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be on your people! Morning Meditation- Scripture Reading (Psalm 2)
2:1  Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 2  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, 3  “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” 4  He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. 5  Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, 6  “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” 7  I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. 8  Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. 9  You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” 10  Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. 11  Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 2

Ps 1:1  Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2  but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3  He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. 4  The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. 5  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6  for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Ps 1

Why men have a problem with the Sovereignty of God
If you would like to financially support the podcast please consider giving to my Patreon-  https://www.patreon.com/ProverbialLife You can also financially support this ministry here on Anchor  Does God hate the wicked? The Bible is clear on this topic. The answer is yes. On this episode I discuss some of the reasons why men have a problem with the Sovereignty of God, over all things.   Psalm 5:5- "The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers." Psalm 11:5-"The LORD tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence." Romans 11:7-10-"What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened,  as it is written,“God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.”And David says,“Let their table become a snare and a trap,a stumbling block and a retribution for them;  let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see,and bend their backs forever.” Ephesians 2:1-3-"And you were dead in the trespasses and sins  in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—  among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

Morning Meditation- For everything there is a season Pt.1
On today's episode of 'Morning Meditation' we look at what the Preacher said in Ecclesiastes 3.  In verses 1-8 of that chapter we learn an important life principle-For everything there is a season.    Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: 2  a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; 3  a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4  a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5  a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6  a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7  a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8  a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace."

Morning Meditation- Living a life that is Pleasing to God Pt. 2
On today's episode of 'Morning Meditation we are asking the question, What kind of life is pleaseing to God?  The scritures give us this answer in many places one of which can be found in 1 Thess. 4:9-12. On yersterday's podcast we said that if you want to live a life that is pleasing to God than you must live in sexual purity. Today, we look at the second half of Paul's words where he says,  If you want to live a life that is pleasing to God you must love your brothers & sisters in the faith Vs. 9-12

Morning Meditation-Do you want to live a life that is pleasing to God? Pt. 1
On this episode of "Morning Meditation' we take a look at the words of Paul written to the saints at Thessalonica.  In that passage of scripture Paul gives us a blueprint on how to live a life that is pleasing to God.    Because we are in Christ the child of God desires to please their heavenly Father. Moreover, not only do we have a desire to please our heavenly father but we also have the power and ability to do so. With the aid of the Holy Spirit, Christians can please God.  And the Bible tells us exactly how we can do so.

Morning Meditation- How are you doing in this area?
If you were writing to a group of Christians and giving them instructions on how to live in a fallen world what would you tell them?  Maybe you would tell them about the importance of keeping watch of the life and doctrine                                                  Or  Maybe you would tell them to be sober minded and always be ready for action because they are in a spiritual war.  The truth is, The NT writers give many imperatives like the ones stated above.  In other words, they gave us commands of things we should do.  That said,  what we have to keep in mind is that the writers of the NT gave imperatives in light of the indicatives.

Morning Meditation- Be honest with yourself
On today's episode of 'Morning Meditation' we discuss the importance of us being honest with ourselves.  If we could be honest with ourselves, we know that none of us make the "perfect" right decision. In fact, even when we make the best decision possible, that decision is made in a broken world which means that their are consequences that will follow-Sometimes good, most times bad.   In short, making the right decisions in life doesn't mean that you are exempt from the effects of the fall. Embracing that reality gives us the ability to keep our eyes on Christ and off of ourselves.  Also, Please consider supporting The Proverbial Life on Patreon.
