8 Years Later: Thoughts on the Creative Journey, Its Challenges, and Creating Abundance
After a majorly transformative summer in my personal and professional life, I felt compelled to use The Quinn Spinn's 8th anniversary to share some revelations that have come to me as a byproduct of my own creative journey. That journey began with this podcast and the desire to have an impact -- the desire to feel as though I am contributing something to the world, beyond checking society's boxes. This road-less-traveled has brought forth so many incredible moments. At the same time, it has brought about unique challenges that appear at the intersection of the hustle and my presence in other areas of life. As I've ridden those waves, I've come to a point where I understand what it truly means to create and spread abundance, and how that serves life's bigger picture. It's been an amazing ride to this point, and there is still much more to come. Thank you for being along for the journey. -G The Quinn Spinn is recorded and produced at Helping Our Music Evolve (H.O.M.E.), Nashville, TN. No Sugarcoating Allowed with The Poptimist's Taylor Berryman
The word "sugarcoat" is not in Taylor Berryman's vocabulary. As host of his own podcast, The Poptimist, Taylor leaves no stone unturned, and shows no fear as he goes deep on topics from the music industry, to the state of society, to his own life experience. Taylor is also a musician with a number of projects in and around Nashville, as well as an avid Yankees fan. We touch all of that and a whole lot more on today's Quinn Spinn! A Conversation on Collaboration, COVID, and Love with MICVH and Steven Hall
A couple years back, we became acquainted with North Carolina-born musician MICVH at Underground Music Collective. She shared her tremendous story with us upon the release of her debut EP, 'Singularity,' and has since uncovered new experiences to share with us. Together, the pair discuss their journeys throughout the pandemic, and how a run-in with COVID brought them much closer. Then, we'll get to hear a couple live, in-studio cuts! Existential Musings and Exploring 'Honeysuckle Summer' with Charles Ellsworth
Earlier this spring, Brooklyn-based troubadour Charles Ellsworth swung through Nashville and joined us to record an episode of The Quinn Spinn... and, man, this one is an all-timer! Of course, we talk about Charles' new album, Honeysuckle Summer, which features outstanding prog-Americana tunes including "Miami, AZ," "Max & Geraldine," and "A White Cross on a Highway." However, that's just scratching the surface. What we have here is an insightful conversation between two 30-something creators which touches on everything, from the adjustments we must make on the creative journey, to life on the road, and the influence Charles' desert upbringing has on his music. From a Wacky Doomsday Cult to Achieving Artistic Fulfillment: The Story of Wesley David
Wesley David was raised in a religious cult, and found an escape through music. Since then, he built a career for himself on the piano bar circuit, and has traveled internationally while opening for a long list of widely recognizable acts. Recently, Wesley released his album Never Late Than Better -- an authentic and artistically fulfilling new release that puts Wesley's sense of humor and raw honesty on display. We discuss the album, the road that led Wesley to this point, and the impacts of technology on art and society itself. Oh, and of course, a little bit of baseball sneaks its way in...
