S2 E4 - Holistic Health Part 3 - with Dr. Raymond Tolmos

S2 E4 - Holistic Health Part 3 - with Dr. Raymond Tolmos

This episode is part three of my 3-part conversation with Dr. Raymond Tolmos. In part 1 I introduced Dr. Ray, who has been my personal physician since 2016, and we discussed his role as a chiropractic internist or DABCI.

In part 1 we talked about blood work, anemia, cholesterol, insulin resistance, and prostate health.

In part 2, we talked about all things autoimmunity, different types of autoimmune conditions that exist, and how to holistically treat autoimmunity. We also talked about COVID-19, and the impact it can have on the immune system, we addressed long Covid, and vaccines. Finally, we discussed the pros and cons of antibiotics.

In this third episode, we first briefly discuss and consider some alternatives to antibiotics as an extension of our conversation at the end of our discussion in part 2. Then we’ll be talking about the thyroid gland, its functions, the related hormones, hyper vs hypo, and Graves disease vs Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, which doctor Ray diagnosed me with in 2016.

Then we get into the adrenal system and adrenal fatigue. We discuss the adrenal's role and relation to stress, Dr Ray breaks down what adrenal fatigue is, and how this is a very important system that is related to many short-term and chronic health issues people suffer from.

Lastly, we talk about gut health. By now, many people have heard or know that your gut health is critically important when it comes to your immune system and overall health. Doc will address the role and efficacy of probiotics and prebiotics, he will also explain what leaky gut is, and the relationship of gut health to irritable bowel disease or IBD vs irritable bowel syndrome known as IBS.

This is an episode packed with information that is not widely known or discussed, but can make a huge difference in the quality of your health right now, and as you age.

I hope you find this episode informative, and as always thank you for listening.

This episode is part two of my conversation with Dr. Raymond Tolmos. In part 1 I introduced Dr. Ray, who has been my personal physician since 2016, and we discussed his role as a chiropractic internist or DABCI.

In part 1 of our conversation, we talked about blood work, anemia, cholesterol, insulin resistance, and prostate health. So if you haven’t already, be sure to listen to part 1.

In part 2 of our conversation, we discuss all things autoimmunity, from the terminology around autoimmunity such as disease, disorder, and condition, to the definition of autoimmunity and exactly what it is, to different types of autoimmune conditions that exist, such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis, lupus, and inflammatory bowel diseases, like Crohn's, colitis, and celiac. And we talk about how to holistically treat autoimmunity.

We also talk about COVID-19 and the relationship or impact the virus can have on the immune system, specifically those with autoimmunity, and how it can lead to what is being called long haulers Covid, or long Covid. And we also discuss vaccines.

Lastly, we discuss antibiotics. We talk about how they work, what some of the misconceptions are, how they can drastically impact your immune system, and the dangers of over-prescription, and overuse.

S2 E2 - Holistic Health Part 1 - with Dr. Raymond Tolmos

This episode is part one of my conversation with Dr. Raymond Tolmos. Dr. Ray has been my personal physician since 2016, and has helped me tremendously when it comes to improving and maximizing my health. Dr. Ray is the only chiropractic internist or DABCI in Miami Dade County, and only one of about 20 in the entire state of Florida. Dr. Ray elaborates on what a chiropractic internist is and I highlight his expertise to begin this episode.

In this first episode together, we touch on what a chiropractor is, the importance of blood work, types of anemia, misconceptions about cholesterol, the dangers of insulin resistance, and prostate health.

If you are serious about your health and you want to learn more about an alternative approach to holistic health, wellness, and traditional medicine, you’re absolutely going to benefit from the information provided throughout this conversation!

S2 E1 - A Generation of Anxious Young Women

S2 E1 - A Generation of Anxious Young Women

The word anxiety is thrown around a lot, so much so that you would think every other person you meet has been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder...but that's not the case. Many people, particularly young women, will tell you they suffer from anxiety. And while I believe they do absolutely feel anxious, most don't actually suffer from clinical anxiety. In fact, they are simply anxious because of the lifestyle they live and the pressure they feel to be someone they are not on a day-to-day basis. In this episode, I examine some possible sources of anxiety that are plaguing young women specifically today, and how this silent epidemic is taking place under the disguise of, and in large part due to the pressure from, a movement to "empower" women.
