A discussion on ableism and the community with disability with our host, Anisa, and our guest Madi!
The two will discuss what ableism actually is, the appropriate language to use when discussing people with disabilities, and the history of the community, as well as some misconceptions that people have about disabilities.

Madi Wolff is a high school senior from Phoenix, Arizona. While living with her own disability, SMA, she loves to educate others on the disabled community. Madi has spoken out at various conventions and fundraisers to help people understand a little bit about living with a disability. She is currently an ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and has been for over 5 years. She’s open to answering any questions people may have about SMA, disabilities, and ableism.

The three will delve into the causes and effects of the lack of women in politics, the objectification of women, the intersectionality of race and gender in politics, and how women are perceived versus men.

Alison Cedarbaum and Selam Ambaw are two high school seniors from Flemington, New Jersey. Deeply involved in civic engagement and the political world, Selam and Alison are a former YMCA Secretary General and current YMCA Youth Governor of NJ, respectively. Beyond that, they both currently serve as officers of their local political party committee youth branch, do work with their school’s gender equality club, along with having pursued several volunteer opportunities in campaigning and advocacy!
