Ep. #44 Dr. Leo Venus: How to improve your health through changing your mindset & beliefs?

Ep. #44 Dr. Leo Venus: How to improve your health through changing your mindset & beliefs?

I'm super thankful to have been able to interview over 35 different vegan coaches and professionals over the last year.

And as much as I loved every single one of them, this was definitely a new highlight for me.

Dr. Leo Venus was one of the people who inspired me to go vegan, so it means a lot to me to have him here today on the Vegan Academy Podcast.

We dove deep into the topic of health and well-being.

Especially how your mindset and psychology can influence your health and even change your reality.

It's fascinating and so empowering to be able to basically become a totally new person through repeating new behavior and changing your limiting beliefs.

Going from someone who struggles with low self-esteem to have unshakable confidence.

Changing from unhealthy to healthy.

Transforming yourself and your life, through the power of the mind.

Realizing how powerful the mind truly makes you question what is all possible in life?

In the words of Dr. Leo Venus, there is a lot we know but there is far more that we don't know yet.

Ep. #43 Luckie Sigouin: Change your response, change your outcome!

Ep. #43 Luckie Sigouin: Change your response, change your outcome!

How to change your outcome?

Luckie from @luckiesigouin and I talked about the effect of your response on the outcome of your life.

You are 100% responsible for what happens in your life.

E + R = O

Meaning, Event + Respons = The Outcome

Therefore Because you choose how you respond to every event in your life, you are 100% responsible for all the outcomes of your life

You got to choose if you want to react to the events in your life in a negative way or respond to them in a positive way.

After a stressful day, it might be your default, to load up on processed foods, lay down on your couch, and watch some Netflix.

But how would your life change if instead, you would choose to respond differently?

If instead, you would go for a walk outside, workout, practice mindfulness or eat a healthy meal?

How much different would you feel?

And how much different would that outcome be?

Only based on responding differently to the event.

And that's why your life and the outcome of your life are your responsibility.

You don't need to make these changes all at once. Most important is that you are actually get started.

Instead of looking at the mountain top, and thinking you can never get there. Take the first step, start small and build your way up.

Luckie shares many powerful anecdotes and insights about his personal and professional life.

From how to stay consistent and making health sustainable to dealing with comparing yourself to others.

Ep. #42 Koen Vaessen: Are carbs the root of all evil?

Ep. #42 Koen Vaessen: Are carbs the root of all evil?

Are carbs the root of all evil?

Still too often I speak people totally confused about carbohydrates and sugars.

It worries me to see so many people think that carbs are bad for them.

Will make them gain weight.

That too much sugar is not good for them.

And they need to be careful about how much fruit they eat.

That's what inspired me to create this podcast and hope to shed some light on these common misconceptions.

When people refer to carbs are bad, or carbs make you gain weight they actually mean "processed carbs".

However, this got sadly widely interpreted as "ALL CARBS ARE BAD"

Carbs are the main source of energy for your body, and therefore absolutely essential for short and long-term health and well-being.

Did you know that your brain mainly runs on glucose?

And that when your blood sugar levels drop you can notices that often by a lack of focus and overall energy?

So the reason that people assume carbs are bad is more so because of the package they often come in.

These processed carbs are not only high in white sugar and things like corn syrup. They also contain a lot of fat and other unhealthy ingredients.

Not only making you easily overeat but also making them very caloric dense.

So does that mean I can have some vegan Ben & Jerry's again?

Of course not.

Focus on eating a wide variety of wholefoods, carbohydrates like fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes. For 80-90% of the time.

You are more than fine to fill in the other 10-20% with the foods that you so enjoy.

Ep. #41 Shaun Conaghan: How to eat like a champion?

Ep. #41 Shaun Conaghan: How to eat like a champion?

Do you eat like a champion?

In Podcast Nr 41 I interviewed Shaun Conaghan @theactivenutritionteacher, who shares everything he learned with us on his endeavor as a Whole Foods Plant-based Teacher.

Shaun is on a mission to empower children & their families towards healthy diet & lifestyle habits.

Growing up as the son of a farmer, his diet was always very animal-centered, With loads of cheese, dairy, and meat.

But when his mom, unfortunately, passed away due to cancer and also his father fell ill later on, he started to ask himself the question, "How did this happen?"

That's when he started to discover the benefits of a whole foods plant-based diet.

Being frustrated with the lack of knowledge our governments are providing us in this aspect. He knew he had to be the change he wished to see in the world.

As a teacher, he knew he could have a lot of impact on the health and well-being of his students and their families.

And that's when the "Eat like a champion" week was born.

Where he didn't just teach the boy's in his class to eat like a champion. But also to sleep, train and snack like one.

He encourages all of us to just start taking the first step, towards a healthier lifestyle.

Not by focusing on restricting yourself or feeling like you need to give up on anything.

But looking at it like what you can all add to your life and diet.

Because one of the most important aspects of making it sustainable is that you feel proud of what you are doing and have fun with it.

Ep. #40 Koen Vaessen: Why you are not seeing results?

Ep. #40 Koen Vaessen: Why you are not seeing results?

Do you feel like you are not seeing results?

Well, You are not alone.

It's interesting to me that the more people I speak, the more coaches and professionals I interview the more patterns I detect.

Even though you are unique, and you experience your life in your own way. We are really not that different after all.

A lot of our pains, obstacles, and worries are similar.

Not feeling worthy or good enough.

Comparing yourself with others.

Struggling to stay consistent.

These are topics I keep hearing, and have dealt with often enough myself.

Lack of discipline or willpower, and not overcoming your own limiting beliefs can play a big role in your ability to stay consistent.

However, one part we often don't pay attention to is comparing ourselves to others.

The reason why you are not seeing the results you are making is because you are holding them to someones else's standards.

You are comparing your achievements based on someone else's (social media) life.

Instead of being focused on yourself. Comparing the new you, with the old you.

It doesn't matter SHIT what others, do or have.

Or SAY they have.

You are unique and so is your journey.

No one is ahead of you and you are not behind.

Every flower blooms at the exact right time.

And so do you.

So stop diminishing your performance based on what other people do.

And JUST DO YOU!

#39 Danyel Breuls: The life of a vegan ultra runner.

#39 Danyel Breuls: The life of a vegan ultra runner.

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast I speak with Danyel Breuls a vegan Ultrarunner who pushes his body and mind to the absolute limits.

Danyel definitely hasn’t always lived like this. In fact, quite the opposite.

Until his 37th he lived a very destructive lifestyle. Filled with junk food, drugs, and alcohol. Which lead him to the point of being severely overweight.

His wake-up call came when his doctor told him that he wouldn’t make it over 40 if he would continue to live like this. And that’s when he changes.

He quit all his destructive habits, started to eat healthier, and picked up running, which he hated so much.

The first run he did, he almost dropped dead after 500 meters, puked, and couldn’t move afterward for almost a week.

But Danyel was caught by it.

Caught by the hunger to change himself and become a better person.

After finishing his first marathon he said to himself: “Is this it? Is this the magical feeling everyone is talking about?”

Which lead him to ultra running.

His performance started to get better and better, but the biggest change came when he adopted a vegan lifestyle.

"I could no longer say to myself I’m an animal friend but still continue to eat them."

His performance peaked, he lost more weight and recovered quicker than ever.

Leading him to his biggest achievement so far a 160+ KM long ultra run in Germany. Where he ran over 19 hours and burned roughly 17.000 calories.

But this is not the end for Danyel. He keeps pushing himself every single day to be the best version he can possibly be.

When I asked him, how can others get started with this?

He said: “Well even a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Be patient but be consistent. Don’t expect fast results, but just keep going.”

Value the small changes the small progress. And most of all value the small things in life. Be grateful for the birds in the sky and being able to breathe. Because if you can’t enjoy the journey, what is it worth, to begin with?

Ep. #38 How to overcome your own bullshit?

Ep. #38 How to overcome your own bullshit?

It's the BS story you keep telling yourself that prevents you from achieving greatness.

Telling yourself the same story over and over is exactly what keeps you stuck.

In this week's Vegan Academy Podcast I share with you my own journey about how I overcame one of the most difficult periods of my life.

I was 25, just ended a 4+ year relationship, and lost my job in retail management. Something that I had been working my but off for nearly 10 years.

I had no fucking clue what my next move was.

I didn't even know who I was anymore.

What I stood for, what I valued.

I created this whole identity for myself.

The career-maker, the manager, the talent.

But deep down what I felt was:

A failure

A terrible partner

A fraud

I felt useless

But as shitty as I felt about myself, as inspired I was to change.

It was my time to rise.

To build myself up again.

To become stronger than I had ever been.

I dove into my own personal development.

Read book after book and watched video after video.

From Tony Robbins to Jim Rohn and Stephen Covey.

I worked out 6x a week.

Ate the healthiest foods.

However, nothing filled that hole.

I didn't feel better about myself.

I actually just felt worse.

Alone and misunderstood.

And that's when I slowly started to realize:

If I want to the things I have never done before, I have to become the person I have never been before.

I started to become aware of my thoughts and started talking to myself differently.

And that's when the real change happened.

As always thank you so much for listening to today's episode.

Ep. #37 Your Vegan Family: How to thrive as a vegan family?

Ep. #37 Your Vegan Family: How to thrive as a vegan family?

How to thrive as a vegan family?

In this week's Vegan Academy Podcast Stacy and Markus shares with us their journey of over 26+ years as vegans.

How they make sure their family gets all they need, and what rituals make them shine together.

Parents are often concerned if eating and living this way will give their children all the building blocks of life they need.

That's why it's always important to focus on the specific requirements of each person.

VEGANISM IS NO EXCEPTION IN THAT.

A great way to make sure of that is by eating the rainbow. As well as eating a wide variety of food.

But also to measure and calculate your meals from time to time to know they are adequate.

Don't just only eat apples and oranges every week, but try and experiment.

This way food also becomes much more fun and enjoyable.

If you want to make a sustainable vegan lifestyle you have to focus on knowing what you do. Educate yourself and making it convenient.

But it's not just the food that plays a big part, it also the rituals around it.

Markus & Stacy are big advocates for letting your kids get as much involved in the process as possible.

Their sons, prepare food, make the table, help in the garden, and make sprouts.

It definitely not just what you eat, but also how you eat and enjoy each other's time that will create a lasting healthy vegan lifestyle.

So whether you have a family of your own, considering going vegan, or are just curious about a vegan lifestyle yourself, this podcast provides a ton of value for you.

Ep. #35 Adam Saez: How to build size & strength as a vegan?

Ep. #35 Adam Saez: How to build size & strength as a vegan?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast Adam Saez from @plant_powered_pro shares with us his many years of experience within the fitness world.

He empowers and supports busy Professionals build Size & Strength Without Animal Products. Today he shares a few of his principles.

1. A lot of people think they need high protein and low carbs. But plants generally come with a lot of carbs. So it's hard to do as a vegan to just eat high protein and low carbs because almost all the high protein sources also come with a lot of carbs.

So it's important to find the right balance for you and your goals.

2. Counting calories is important to give you direction and know what you are doing. Else you are like running a business without knowing what goes in and out. It's not impossible but definitely a lot harder. It’s the same with counting calories. It's not something you need to do for the rest of your life but it can help give guidance and structure.

3. Bodybuilding and powerlifting are very contradicting. You can achieve size and strength fast mostly in the beginning. But eventually, you do have to make a decision where you want to focus on.

4. You have to stay consistent to see results. The work you are putting in doesn't get easier, but you WILL get better.

Ep. #33 Oso: The Power of Self-Love and Self-Care.

Ep. #33 Oso: The Power of Self-Love and Self-Care.

This Week’s Oso takes us on his journey about self-alignment and creating confidence. And what he does on a daily basis to raise his vibrations.

Around 1 year ago he went vegetarian. To stepping outside his comfort zone and experience the positive effects on his body, mind, and soul that he heard a lot of people talk about.

Because of this, he was becoming more and more conscious about the effects of his actions and what he truly came to do here on this planet.

The more he looked into it he realized that being vegetarian wasn’t the end goal. And soon after that, he went vegan to further align with his inner purpose.

He noticed how he felt lighter, how his skin health improved ad his energy levels increased.

His diet changed from more processed to more and more whole-foods, like fruits and vegetables. Eating more salads and smoothies.

Over the year his lifestyle changed a lot. From being an outgoing, party person, where he felt like wasting his time on the wrong things to putting a lot of time into his personal development.

Nowadays his time is mostly focused on self-care and self-love, building up confidence, reading books, and listening to various podcasts.

When you conquer fear that is what really builds up your confidence.

It’s important to keep an open mind. Be yourself and be different and don’t care so much about what others think you should do be, but do what you believe is right.

A lot of us are more afraid of the judgment of others than we are afraid of doing it for ourselves.

When you start to get closer to yourself and realize your own value and what matters to you. The less you start to care about what others think about that.

That’s why it’s so beneficial to surround yourself with people that live the lifestyle that you want to live. Because you become who you surround yourself with.

It’s important to do the things for you that make you feel good about yourself from the inside out.

Self-love is what you feed your body mind and soul. Making sure that your lifestyle is good for you. Discovering what is good for you. It’s not just about the clothes or technology you buy.

Together with Oso we dive deeper into the topics of building up confidence, healthy habits, and practicing self-love.

Ep. #32 Ed Griffith: How to build up Confidence and attract Abundance?

Ep. #32 Ed Griffith: How to build up Confidence and attract Abundance?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast Ed Griffith founder of the Leantribe shares his insights about how to build up confidence and attract more abundance into your life.

Ed is a Vegan Health & wellness coach. Helping to attract more confidence, abundance and get stronger to achieve your goals in a more sustainable way and effective way

After experiencing his walk in the “dark woods” he became very passionate about fitness and helping others.

A few years later he made the decision to move to Australia to become a Personal Trainer. Even though this wasn’t a success at first, after a Tony Robbins seminar he managed to turn things around. Invested in himself and a coaching program, on credit, which he made back faster than he could imagine.

Practicing self-care and self-love are important building blocks for building up confidence.

To attract abundance in whatever aspect you have to build yourself up first.

Instead of looking for external things, like validations from others, to make you feel good, you have to find your confidence from within.

It’s time to take of your cozy blanket and lean more into fear.

Learn to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. The more you do that the more you will start to realize you are not made of glass and that you are much stronger than you ever thought imaginable.

It’s all about repetition. Because everything new is uncomfortable. But the more you do it, the more action you take, the more confidence you will build up.

Ed says how affirmations are like being your own coach. You say to yourself what you need to hear., the things you need to affirm to yourself. Just like a good coach would do.

Abundance is the tendency of nature and life to grow and become more.

It’s not just about money or luxury. It’s about the bigger picture, happiness, love, joy, health, and wellness.

Welcoming onboard the best version you could possibly be. And allowing yourself to be that version of yourself.

In order to attract more abundance into your life, you need to have that level of confidence in yourself first. If you don’t believe in yourself how are you going to believe in the ability to bring abundance into your life?

This podcast is truly an inspiring episode with many tips that especially now are very much welcome and needed as well.

Ep. #31: How to make lasting lifestyle changes?

Ep. #31: How to make lasting lifestyle changes?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast I share with you how you can make lasting lifestyle changes.

What are your new year's resolutions?

With the 1st of January coming close, many of us will do another attempt at living a healthier lifestyle.

You might start at your local gym, do a detox, or invest in an online course.

But how likely is it that after the first few weeks you will actually continue?

Unfortunately, the odds are stacked against you. And I don't say this to discourage you, in fact, it's the opposite.

I tell you this because I want you to succeed this year. I want you to not make the same mistakes as most people do and actually make this HAPPEN.

What happens with the new year coming up, is that suddenly you have the motivation to make changes. The motivation you don't always have throughout the year.

You say to yourself, this year it will be different, this year I will stick to it.

I will wait until the holidays are over and then I will start.

But what will make the first of January different than any other day?

It isn't.

When you depend on motivation to keep you going you are very likely not going to stay consistent with it.

Motivation comes and goes, just like inspiration.

Not every writer or artist has the inspiration to make their best work every single day. Yet they just keep on doing, put in the work, and learn.

Instead of depending on motivation practice this:

1. Define your Vision

2. Identify your WHY

3. Set a simple SMART Goal

4. Staying consistency

5. Keeping your saw sharp

With this method, you will make lasting lifestyle changes no matter what.

As always I thank you for listening to another Vegan Academy Podcast.

Ep. #30 Dave Travolta: How to heal yourself?

Ep. #30 Dave Travolta: How to heal yourself?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast my good friend Dave Travolta shares with us his powerful experience about how he healed himself from severe eczema, and what he does to excel in life.

From a very young age on he lived in pain and discomfort, caused by various skin diseases. Even though it getting better from time to time, it would always keep coming back.

Until he came to a point where he started to question the advice the doctors gave and the lifestyle he lived.

He was shocked to find out that through your diet you can even heal chronic illness.

And so a quest for health began.

After cutting out various animal products like meat and dairy he already started to see a positive effect on his skin.

But the biggest results came when he took all chemicals out and followed a 7-day water fast.

At first, the issues got worst, like his body trying to get rid of all the disease.

But within a month after his fast, his skin significantly cleared up. And eventually getting him completely healed and off his medication.

Finally, after all these years, he felt free, and happy from within.

Dave follows a diet high in life raw foods, consisting of sprouted nuts and seeds, grains, and many fruits and vegetables, especially dark leafy greens.

He mentions how important the preparation of your food is as well as the quality of it. Not all food is just meant to be eaten straight off the shelf. And can actually be harmful like that.

As the founder of the University of Happy Life, he speaks passionately on the role of mindset and how to get unstuck in life.

We are often so easy to judge ourselves and play the victim, based on our previous experiences in life.

Dave says the past nor the future is real. The only moment to ever exists is now. So take a deep breath and focus on the present moment.

Don’t let fear hold you back from doing what you love or growing as a person.

Stop looking at challenges as a negative because “Obstacles are just opportunities to grow”

Ep. #29 Intermittent Fasting: The benefits and how to apply it?

Ep. #29 Intermittent Fasting: The benefits and how to apply it?

In this week’s vegan Academy Podcast Vegan I dive deeper into the topic of Intermittent Fasting.

What is intermittent fasting, what are its benefits, and how you can start doing it yourself?

"If you can control what you eat you can control everything else".

This quote by Dr. Umar Faruq definitely sums up how I feel towards Intermittent Fasting.

When I just went vegan, I was always craving food and constantly thinking about it.

Intermittent fasting helped me strengthen my hunger signals and tune in with my body.

But it also allowed me to develop a stronger mindset. Gaining more mental clarity and focus.

The health benefits are endless. From the boost in metabolism, human growth hormone, and testosterone, to the removal of waste in cells.

But also the possible increase in your lifespan, as well as the reduction of insulin resistance and reduce the risk of heart disease.

For me, Intermittent Fasting and prolonged fasting has become both a very intuitive way of eating as well as a mental health practice.

In this week's podcast, I share more about my personal experience with fasting as well as how you can apply it to your own life.

Ep. #28 Brian Langowski: It's not about succeeding, It's about growing!

Ep. #28 Brian Langowski: It's not about succeeding, It's about growing!

In this week’s vegan Academy Podcast Vegan Fitness Coach Brian Langowski shares with us his insights about how to live a sustainable healthy vegan lifestyle.

After being a personal trainer for almost 6 years Brian is slowly transitioning his business more and more online.

From first-hand experience, he knows the effect of consuming loads of animal products on your health and well-being. As a former athlete, even though he seemed to be at his peak, he never felt like. That’s also why he is very driven so show people how it can be done differently.

Brian wants to spread the message of health. Which isn’t always the case within the fitness industry. Especially because of the focus on protein and the physical side.

He teaches people that when you focus on health the body comes along with it.

People are often very resistant to change. Especially when it comes to veganism. Because what you eat is such a big part of your day and life. So instead he shows people how to take little steps at a time. And by getting the results they are more likely to take the next steps.

One of the biggest things holding us back is the fear of failure.

Which is probably the most important part of fitness, because you will fail all the time. It is something you have to be ok with that instead of it letting you down.

Failure is important to help you grow.

Our minds are our biggest limiting factors. When you say I can't do this, you limit yourself. Changing the way you look at things, changes the things you look at.

Belief in yourself first, being in tune, and honest with yourself.

If you cant see it in your mind, you will never achieve it.

Be kind to yourself and practice patience. You cant expect the lifestyle or unhealthy habits you have build up over decades to be gone within days or weeks.

It’s not about succeeding it's about constantly growing. That’s what is going to help you create those life-lasting changes.

Brian goes deeper into the various factors of making sustainable changes towards a healthy vegan lifestyle.

He emphasizes the role of fiber and quality sleep on our mental and physical health.

And finishes with a thought-provoking question:

Does it matter how long it takes for you to get the results you want to, if in the process you make sustainable changes, create new habits, and actually be healthy?

#27 Koen Vaessen: How to live a Wellness Lifestyle?

#27 Koen Vaessen: How to live a Wellness Lifestyle?

Wellness is not just the foods you eat or the type of workout you do.

Wellness is the combination of healthy habits put in to practice in your day to day life.

It’s how you find balance in between your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well being.

How to Audit your life?

Change always starts with awareness. Becoming aware of your current situation and where you want to go limits the amount of resistance from the mind.

Ask yourself how do I feel, and how do I view different aspects of my life?

Is working out a celebration of my strength, is it something that I want to do or something that I have to do?

Do I feel guilty about certain foods I eat?

What are the thoughts that I think repetitively?

What emotions do I experience often?

Like a house, you need a strong foundation. Because without that strong foundation the slightest thing can knock you over and prevent you from taking action

How to implement a wellness lifestyle?

Don’t get discouraged if your Goals are not working out straight away, or even over time.

It’s the simple things done consistently that ad up to a massive amount of change.

#26 Logan Wingate: The key to make changes?

#26 Logan Wingate: The key to make changes?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast Logan Wingate shares with us his inspiring journey of self-discovery. How he went from breakdown to breakthrough. Coaching people to live a healthy holistic lifestyle.

Health isn’t just physical. It’s the combination of emotional, spiritual, mental, physical and nutritional well being.

Logan was already into fitness from an early age. But while working as a personal trainer he never felt that fulfilled in life. He noticed how is the effect on people's health and lifestyle was very modest.

A few years past and even though he looked good, he never felt that good. His health actually kept deteriorating until he had a wake-up call and knew he had to change.

He did his research and plant-based nutrition opened his eyes to a more guilt-free of living. Before he never aligned his consciousness about animals and the environment with what he ate. But now he did, it gave him the morale boost to keep going.

In his work with his clients Logan focuses a lot on mental well-being. He notices an epidemic of stress. A lot of people dealing with negative relationships with food and themselves.

Journaling is one of the key habits he recommends.

Write down what you are grateful for and how you feel throughout your day.

This helps to recognize the patterns of how you feel compared to the events that happen in your day. So you become more aware and can act open them.

People often use the excuse for not being motivated for not doing something.

While the truth is that: “action comes before motivation”

Sitting around waiting for motivation never happens. You have to take action no matter how small that first step, it will get easier.

Being present is vital for staying centered.

People spent so much time on either the past or present without reflecting on the now.

In this podcast Logan goes deeper into the topics of mental and physical well being. The role of wholefoods nutrition and his own personal journey.

As always we would love to hear your feedback and connect with you on social.

Ep. #25 William House: How to take control of your Health?

Ep. #25 William House: How to take control of your Health?

In this week’s vegan academy podcast William house from @doitallvegan shares his story from being an athlete with chronic health issues to coaching people to thrive on a vegan alkaline lifestyle.

When you take control of your health, you take control of your life.

A lot of people consume the Standard American or Western Diet. So when going vegan or plant-based one of the most important things is to focus on switching your lifestyle. Instead of eating all these processed/junk food eating more alkaline & wholefoods.

We need to end the suffering. For the animals, people around us, and of course yourself. You are not meant to suffer. A lot of the choices we make are the reason for your suffering. We have to understand we have to take responsibility for our lives and take our Health into our own hands.

It’s much easier to prevent than to reverse. It’s not the one bad meal that affects your health. It's the habit of eating a bad meal after meal that leads to an unhealthy lifestyle.

It always starts with the right mindset. When you think you won’t get results, you most likely won't get results. That’s why the right mindset is so important. William says: When you win the morning you win the day. How you start your day drives your day.

He encourages you to have a strong morning routine that only focuses on you. No phone, no screens but instead self-care and self-love. Practice gratitude, meditation, journal, and release any negative emotions you might hold onto so you won’t bring them into your day.

Because you can eat so healthy but without a healthy mindset your body won’t benefit the way it could.

Having a strong why is so important when it comes to making these changes last. The stronger the WHY, the stronger the drive.

Remember you are the price.

Don't let the way the world treats you determine your value and the way you treat yourself.

Nobody can tell your worth, only you.

Surround yourself with like-minded minds with dreams and ambitions and dream big.

William shares many more insights about how to take control of your health in this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast. We dive deeper into food combinations, tap water, and releasing negative emotions.

As always we would love to hear your feedback. Connect with us on social, and for more information check out the links below.

Ep. #24 Koen Vaessen: But what about that Protein?

Ep. #24 Koen Vaessen: But what about that Protein?

In this week’s vegan academy podcast we once more discuss a commonly asked question when it comes to living a vegan lifestyle.

The number one question I receive and gets asked online about veganism is definitely: Where do you get your protein from?

It seems like that in today's society we have gotten to a protein obsession. All we same to focus on are macronutrients of which especially PROTEIN.

But the truth is your protein intake says so little about your health. And the more fixated we are on macros and counting calories the less intuitive we actually eat.

Instead of focusing on something that is so easily accessible as protein, something we are by far not deficient in. Let us focus on the things where most of actually are deficient in like fiber. And be more mindful of the actual vitamin and minerals we get into our diets.

All plants contain all proteins. Not all in the same ratio. But if you eat enough calories you will end up getting in enough protein.

We need way less protein than we actually think we need. Even if you live an active, fitness lifestyle you won’t need more than 1,2 – 1.6gr per kg of body-weight in protein.

This you can easily get out of wholefoods.

There is a lot of money being made on our inability to believe that your body knows. That your body is smart and strong enough to get enough protein without supplementing or eating highly processed meat alternatives.

I look at it like this: “If nature intended us to eat a high protein diet, it with supply us with way more high protein options”.

Because on average all plant foods don’t contain much more than 10 to 15% of their nutrients in protein. With the higher exceptions being beans, seeds, and legumes going around 20 to 25%.

So if it was meant for us to consumer high protein diets, nature would have probably made this a lot easier for us.

Your body is way smarter than we believe, and we need far less protein then we think

The more we fixate ourselves on specific macronutrients and calories the more obsessed we get with food and the less healthy relationship we develop with ourselves and food in the process.

Food is so much more then what is you see on the label. Food is power, food is energy, food is information, Food is connections and beautiful moments. Food is emotions. Food is a pleasure.

So let go of the #proteinmindset and focus on eating a variety of wholefoods. Focus on #eattherainbow Eat what your body tells you to, and eat what you enjoy.

Ep. #23 Muzammil Ahmad: What’s the science behind a vegan lifestyle?

Ep. #23 Muzammil Ahmad: What’s the science behind a vegan lifestyle?

In this week's vegan academy podcast this medical student on an endeavor to transform reactionary medicine shares with us his inspiring journey. We talk about the protein myth, the focus of medicine rather than prevention in the medical world and the influence of fiber and a wholefoods plant-based diet on your physical and mental health.

After working in the finance and marketing department for Shell. Where he never felt satisfied, feeling like he wasn’t not making a difference. Not improving myself as a person or helping anyone else as a person. He made a drastic change.

After a year of backpacking, he realized he wanted to help more people started with a master's in psychology. Which eventually led him going into medical school.

In medical school, he noticed how the focus is on learning about diseases and teaching about the surgery and medication to help. There is almost no conversation about reversing or prevention especially not about nutrition.

Muzammil suffered from lots of migraines, acne, eczema, constant fatigue before going vegan. He was surprised how he always just got medication and nutrition was never discussed by medical professionals.

He says: Medication is not solving anything they are just masking the problem.

That’s why he started to educate himself on nutrition to find out how he could heal himself and move away from this acute care system and learn about prevention.

Quickly after going vegan his symptoms and pains stopped. That’s when he dove deeper into nutrition and made it his mission to educate fellow students as well as medical doctors about this. Leading up to starting a podcast with his co-host and a monthly newsletter to spread awareness about the health benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.

Muzammil speaks in-depth about the role of fiber on our gut microbiome. Which influences not only our immune system and our ability to prevent disease. But also how the gut and the brain are connected and the role gut health on your mental health.

Pre cursors for serotonin are made in the gut which is transported to the brain to make serotonin, the happiness molecule. So the healthier your gut, they healthier and happier you will be.

On the other hand, there is a lot of misconception about protein. To a point where people are obsessed with it. It seems like for everything nowadays a high protein diet gets promoted for no real reason at all.

It’s so rare for someone to become protein deficient if you eat enough calories because everything has protein.

It’s a shame that many people believe the more followers you have the more accurate you are. But that is not how nutrition or any science should work. It should be based on evidence, not followers

Everything is connected. The more whole foods you eat, the more fiber, the better your gut microbiome, and the healthier and happier you will be. So eat more whole foods, eat until your satisfied and learn to eat as your body tells you to.

Muzammil goes much more in-depth about his experiences and all you can gain from living a healthy whole foods plant-based lifestyle. He tackles the protein myth and shares some of his thoughts on the medical field.

As always we would love to hear your feedback and connect with you on social.

Ep. #22 Koen Vaessen: How to use wholefoods to achieve better health?

Ep. #22 Koen Vaessen: How to use wholefoods to achieve better health?

Do you see your Health as a cost or an investment?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast your host @koenvaessen dives deep into the world of plant-based nutrition. And shares not only the benefits of a whole food diet but also how you can start with this yourself.

When losing my job in management around 4 years ago, I had no clue what I valued or where to start. I lived a destructive lifestyle full of bad eating habits, smoking, and a lot of stress.

After a short holiday, I realized the first thing I needed to do was starting with taking better care of myself.

This process definitely wasn't easy. But because I had a strong why and clear understanding of why I wanted to do this, it made me very driven.

I went from eating almost zero vegetables and fruits to enjoying it all.

Seeing many people around me suffer the same diseases and losing their lives made me very passionate about changing further and helping others to live a healthy vegan lifestyle.

Big pharma doesn't see you as a patient but rather as a cash machine. That's why they treat symptoms instead of the root cause.

What we eat has a huge influence on how we feel. Both short term and long term.

Eating whole foods is eating as nature intended. It provides us with all the vitamins and minerals our bodies need to thrive.

But we have to be cautious! The number of pesticides and insecticide sprayed on most food items are detrimental to the earth and our health. That is why I recommend eating as much #organic as you can.

In this podcast, I share many more tips about eating whole foods and how to achieve better health.

Ep. #21 Trevor Banerjee: What is your Ikigai?

Ep. #21 Trevor Banerjee: What is your Ikigai?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast Author and start-up coach from the Freedom Switch Program, Trevor Banerjee helps vegan and conscious driven businesses take control and make the switch to personal freedom. Living a life by design instead of default.

After reaching a breaking point in his old career in finance he realized he needed to do something different. After doing various life coaching and NLP courses he met his former business coach and started to work with him to help start-ups.

However, after a while he realized he was not being true to himself, not being his authentic self when he wasn’t working with conscious businesses.

To find purpose in life it’s important to understand the following:

We are very social beings. Always looking for ways to contribute. Which is directly related to our sense of well being and happiness.

To just earn money, be healthy, provide for our family, and have a peaceful mindset is no longer enough to feel fulfilled in life. We want to contribute and add value to this world in whichever way.

Therefore ask yourself the following 4 questions that help you find your purpose, your Ikigai.

- What am I good at?

- What do I love?

- What does the world need right now?

- What can I get paid well to do?

The problem is most of us ask first what they can get paid for. Without realizing is this something I’m really good at? Is this what I love to do? Is this what the world needs right now?

When trying to add value to the world, many of us face the same issues. We doubt ourselves, limiting believes, like fear of failure or even fear of success.

One of the biggest mistakes people make Trevor mentions is.

Trying to fill other people's cups while theirs is empty. You can’t help others if you don’t help yourself first. You need to be in a position of abundance, that’s when you will be able to bring abundance to everyone around you.

As well as our beliefs around money. He says: Money is just an energy source it’s what you do with it. A car or gun by itself is not dangerous but it can become so depending on how you use it.

Trevor reminds us of no matter how big or how small the action is we can always make a difference. The most important thing is that we go out there and just take action.

Just do, and never go down without a fight.

In this empowering episode, Trevor shares many more anecdotes and stories of his own professional and personal life.

Ep. #20: Vegan Debate, destroying vegan stereotypes and misconceptions!

Ep. #20: Vegan Debate, destroying vegan stereotypes and misconceptions!

In the Season 1 Finale, I brought together 5 vegans with different backgrounds and stories to hear their thoughts on common misconceptions and vegan Stereotypes.

I believe it’s important to never think you know it all. Because that holds you back from learning more. There is always something new you can learn, a way to expand your horizon. For me, one of the best ways of doing that is through learning from others, from their experiences and perspectives.

The debate is divided into 6 different questions.

1. You can only be vegan for ethical reasons?
2. Vegans don't eat animal products, then why eat fake meat and fake cheeses?
3. Being vegan is expensive?
4. Veganism is extreme! Isn't life about balance?
5. You can't be friends with a meat-eater?
6. Vegans are malnourished unhealthy people?

We ended this discussion with the topic of eating meat is manly!

So many different viewpoints and perspectives being shared like:

@eenveganmeisje: "Vegans are Pioneers! The sacrifices we make today are so worth the results in the future".
@rotcoach: "Why would it be extreme to prevent an animal from getting killed? When it would happen to someone close to you, you wouldn’t think it’s extreme to prevent that".
@aspoonofpeanutbutter: "What I really think is strong is to stand up to society and going against what everyone else is doing".
@deer.neya: "Sharing food is the most important thing, it opens up the conversation and makes people realize it's not that hard".
@thenaturalbounties: "It’s really just a journey, we are always learning. It’s a life long lesson"

This episode is packed with many more gems like this.

I would love to hear your take on these topics as well.

As always thank you so much for listening and being a part of this amazing community.

Ep. #19 Ian & Katarina Katanec: How to fuel your health?

Ep. #19 Ian & Katarina Katanec: How to fuel your health?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast this vegan couple from Slovenia shares their journey on how they went vegan and joined forces to help and educate others on how to feed health instead of disease.

Ian & Katarina from I&K Coaching are on a mission to help and educate people with the goal to have a better quality life, through nutrition, physical preparation, and sports massage therapy.

Katarina shares how the food we eat today is not the same as it was 100 years ago. Through industrialization, we polluted the soil and water and we are not getting the same amount of nutrients from our food anymore. That’s why it's important to be smarter with our food choices.

What you choose to have on your plate doesn’t just affect how you feel right now, but also in 10 years from now.

They both started to feel a lot better, more energetic, and having better skin when ditching animal products out of there diet. Removing a lot of mucus out of the body as a result of that as well.

Their transition went gradually and that is what they recommend for anyone going vegan as well. The body, especially the gut microbiome needs time to adjust to these new foods. Often much higher in fiber than animal products. Influencing what bacteria are growing in the gut.

When of the biggest raisins why people cant sustain a vegan lifestyle is because they don't gradually transition resulting in cravings and unpleasant bodily feelings.

We have positive, negative, and neutral bacteria in your gut. The foods we eat feed specific bacteria. The more processed foods and also animal products we consume to more the negative bacteria overgrow which can lead to a lower functioning immune system.

Around 80% of our immune system is in your gut.

Through an overgrowth of bad bacteria, your immune system gets in a lesser condition to deal with viruses or outside intruders that can influence your health and can lead to diseases.

By eating more probiotics we feed the good bacteria. Probiotic foods are mostly all

fresh foods like fruits, (starchy)vegetables, and whole grains, which contains a lot of fibers.

These fibers are food for the probiotics, positive and neutral bacteria.

Through eating a lot of fiber you feed these bacteria which is essential for health

The gut and the brain are connected and influence our behavior and even mood to a large degree. Through what you eat you don’t only influence how you feel physically but definitely also mentally.

Their perspective on health is not just only about what you eat. Actually the opposite. Health is all the pieces of the puzzle intertwined. Movement plays a huge role in how we feel and how healthy we are as well. Ian let us remember that your body is meant to move.

Also, the role of being able to go from stress mode to relax mode more often has a big influence on your overall health.

Ian & Katarina takes us through many more points on how to live a healthy lifestyle and what you can do to implement this as well. From how you breathe to what you eat and even when to eat.

Ep. #18 Danique Aaftink: Follow your dreams!

Ep. #18 Danique Aaftink: Follow your dreams!

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast, this Dutch Digital Nomad shares with us how she lives a location independent lifestyle and her mission to show the world the accessibility of plant-based eating around the world.

Her love for traveling and exploring the world grow already some years ago after living abroad in Thailand for over 4 months. Coming back to the Netherlands and working her regular 9 to 5, even though she loved doing it made her hungry for more. And so her quest to becoming location independent started.

Starting as a freelancer or moving abroad can be scary but the best advice she gives it to always follow your dreams. Don't wait to live your dreams because you never know what happens. And remember that baby steps are also steps.

Some great tips when you start working remotely are:

- Make sure to have a strong internet connection and the right equipment

- Know the rules and local law when it comes to living abroad

- Build up a strong network

Especially the last one Danique believes is one of the keys to start making a nomad lifestyle work. Build up some experience, grow your network so when you move abroad you already have some clients and don't have to start from scratch.

Throughout the last 15 years, she traveled to over 40 countries and enjoyed some of the most incredible places she has been. Being vegetarian or later as a vegan has never been much of a challenge. But the best tip she can give is to not be to picky and prepare yourself. Not everywhere veganism is known already so make it easy for yourself when you travel to remote locations.

Danique is all about sharing more sustainable ways of traveling.

Car sharing, bringing your own utensils and plastic bottle, and staying longer in one place are some of her favorites.

Travel slow she says. Take your time and use public transport to also support the local community. Don’t just go anywhere to “tick the boxes”

As a real foodie, she loves to explore new places and share good food. Many of her close friends are not vegan, which is ok. To influence them bit by bit she says not to be pushy, just invite them and let them try high-quality food. Show others what’s possible.

Don’t just only go to vegan restaurants with your vegan friends but also support other businesses that try and make a difference. That’s how we can really make change happen fast.

Danique has high hopes for the future. More conscious people, more sustainable travel en way less harm being done to the animals and the environment. Together we explore her life further, her favorite travel locations, and the best tips to live a life of freedom.

As always we love to hear your feedback and connect with you on social. For more info on Danique’s work an travel blog. Check out the links below.

Ep. #17 Niels Cohen: “Let food be thy medicine”

Ep. #17 Niels Cohen: “Let food be thy medicine”

In this week's vegan Academy Podcast Niels Cohen shares his knowledge about Ayurveda. One of the oldest holistic medical systems in the world. And how you can achieve balance in mind, body, and spirit.

Helping and serving others has always been his main drive in life. When living in Bali for 2 years he opened his eyes to a more spiritual way of living. That is when he discovered Ayurveda and just knew this was what he came here to do.

Ayurveda dates back around 5000 years. It’s all about Promoting health instead of western medicine where we are mostly just treating symptoms.

Ayurveda is about regaining balance in body, mind, and spirit, a very much holistic approach. Not just one piece of the puzzle but the whole puzzle which is all linked together.

There are no rules in Ayurveda, only advice. It shows that everybody is different and everyone has a unique body type.

These body types are called Dosha’s, which are based on the Great 5 elements. Earth, water, air, fire, and ether make up everything in this world. The 3 Dosha’s are made up out of a combination of 2 of the 5 elements each having each own specific advice.

Knowing your body type is crucial in Ayurveda to give you the right advice and not create disbalance in the body. Because these disbalances is what can lead to diseases.

This holistic medical system is not just about food, it goes way beyond that. It shows you which routines and life rhythm may work in your favor or actually against you. And also how the importance of taking care of your emotional and mental well being.

In the western world, we are always rushing, everything is about money and we have a lot of stress. That is why calming activities, like meditation, are very important to stay in balance.

Becoming more conscious of your body that is the whole purpose of Ayurveda. You get to know your body so much more than you ever knew. Which can really take your health to the next level.

We are so used to the western medical science that we forget that the base of health is food.

Food is medicine and it's so obvious if you look at how you feel compared to what you eat.

What we often forget is not just what to eat, but also when to eat. When you eat your biggest meal during lunchtime nature can give you the most energy to digest your food in a proper way.

Niels shares much more knowledge about Ayurveda and what it can do for you. Besides that, he speaks passionately about the role of vulnerability and how this affects our society.

He ends with the powerful words “We are all made out of the same things, light and love”

If you want to learn more about the work Niels does and find out your Dosha type click on the link below. And as always we would love to hear your feedback and connect with you on social.

Ep. #16 Ryan Bennett: How to Eat right, Move often and Stress less?

Ep. #16 Ryan Bennett: How to Eat right, Move often and Stress less?

In the week’s Vegan Academy Podcast Ryan Bennett the Vegan Wellness Coach takes us with on a powerful journey of how to ditch the diet mindset and build a better relationship with food, body, and self

Through his journey, he realized how his relationship with food and exercise got destroyed through his many years of competing at a very high level of boxing. His EMS method, Eat right, Move Often, Stress Less helped himself and his clients to focus on overall wellness and well being. And breaking up with the habit of being yourself.

Ryan is not the person to advocate counting calories or fixate on weight(loss). Instead, his practices are all about focusing on mental, emotional en spiritual well being. The mantra of the self-growth Academy is “Focus on wellness and let weight loss happen naturally”

One of the first things when it comes to reconnecting with your body is to ditch the diet mentality. Rewriting your nutritional script, to identify the rules you have towards food and your body.

Crossing out the ones that are not true or not positive and rewrite them in a positive and affirming way. Because there is no good or bad food. But if you believe it to be so it will so

He implements the 3 Seeds of self-growth: The first step is consciousness, becoming aware of the rules that you have and the things that are going wrong. Step 2 is making a connection with where that rule comes from. It is coming out of yourself or did someone tell you this? Then step 3 is to complete the circle. Let go of it, realize it's not true, and realize it’s only true of you to say it's true.

Move often Is all about finding the joy in movement again instead of doing it as a have to. Everyone enjoys different forms of movement, to find out the one that works for you. So you get to see movement, not as a have to do but as a celebration of what you can do.

Stress is often the most overlooked aspect of health and wellness.

If you are not focused on stress less, move often, and eat right is not going to happen. Because you are a way to focus on what you have to do or what happened in the past instead of being in the present moment.

Stress less is about acknowledging what your triggers are and than coming up with an emotional well-being plan. So you can manage things in a more positive way.

One of the hardest things to do is to break up with the habit of who you used to be. Because often the biggest thing holding you back is the limiting beliefs you have about yourself.

Start by rewriting your script because it helps to identify where you are. From there on don’t over complicate. It’s the simple practices done continuously that will give you the biggest change.

Ryan goes deeper into the practice of defining a strong WHY and creating a vision of your future self. Step by step he takes us with him on a practical journey of self-discovery and self-empowerment. And helps us realize the 3 P’s priority, pleasure, patience.

Ep. #15 Greg van den Bold: How to live a vital life?

In this week's Vegan Academy Podcast Greg van den Bold shares with us his journey of self-discovery and optimizing his health. How he on a young age got inspired to pursue the path of true health and how you can do the same.

Holistic health is not just what you eat or how you move, its the combination of healthy habits that you do on a consistent daily basis.

Some of the top documentaries that inspired him to change were "Cowspiracy" and "Game Changers". But also the books "Superhuman" from Dave Asprey and the "5 am club" from Robin Sharma broadened his perspective about healthy living.

Greg wakes up every day at 5.00 am feeling very vital, fresh, and ready for his day.

The reason he feels like that has everything to do with his routines and how he goes through his day.

One of the main influences on his sleep is eating a light meal, like a smoothie or smoothie bowl for dinner. This way his body has all the time to digest and he feels light and refreshed in the morning.

Eating heavy at night has a negative effect on your (deep)sleep because your body has to work very hard to digest the food from last night. Not allowing your body to properly rest.

His morning routines consist of some breath-work, drinking loads of water, reading, and learning a new skill. Before he heads off to the gym to move his body.

Greg talks about vitality vs bodybuilding and the positive effects of movement.

How he is mainly focused on the inner body instead of how he looks from the outside.

Going to the gym every day not because of achieving a certain physique but to feel good.

By 8.00 he arrives back home, having already invested 3 full hours in his own personal development and taking care of himself.

In the night time, Greg also follows a strict routine that prepares him in the best way possible to sleep deep and wake up fresh and energetic the next day.

One of the key habits is putting on his blue light blocking glasses, to get in a state ready for sleep. As well as writing in his journal about his day, putting on some relaxation music and avoiding screen time.

He built up these routines over time, and he believes if you want to you can definitely do the same. Start by submerging yourself in the content of people who’s the lifestyle you want to live. So you slowly become one of them.

The next step is to just start with implementing small things. For example, set your alarm clock at the same time every day. Doing things daily makes it a lot easier to stick to it and adopt a new lifestyle.

But don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s a journey where there is no right or wrong.

You have to understand if you want to implement a new routine in your life it is not going to happen in one day. Its a process. Change is difficult in the beginning, messy in the middle and beautiful at the end.

Gregg shares much more valuable point in this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast. We go deeper into his routines and habits, the positive effect of them, and how you can implement these yourself as well.

Ep. #14 Charline Adriaens: How to listen to your body?

Ep. #14 Charline Adriaens: How to listen to your body?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast, Charline Adriaens plant-based dietitian, helps people find food freedom through intuitive eating and the anti-diet mentality.

She shares with us her story of how she got where she is today and what drives her to help people eat with peas.

Charline is on a mission to help people ditch the diet mentality. It’s very sad to her how many women (and men as well) are not happy with themselves. People struggle with their own bodies because they do not conform to the norm of society.

“Your body is perfectly fine, accept it and stop fighting it”.

Learn to love your body again and listen to what it needs.

So how can you learn to listen to your body?

The first step is to notice if you are hungry or notice if you are full. Become conscious about how you feel on a scale from extreme hunger to extremely full.  Second of all is to become aware that “Every food is just food”

Allow yourself to eat everything and stop restricting because no food is forbidden. It’s all about balance so enjoy the foods that you eat also the more “unhealthy” ones.

After a while, you will be able to naturally feel your hunger and satisfaction.

When you eat intuitively you reconnect your hunger and fullness signals. Which results in you recognizing what feels good and what doesn’t.

It’s a process of creating new habits. Therefore start with little things, you don’t want to do it all at once. Find the habits that make it that you want to stay on this journey.

Start with for example one meal, or focus a day on your hunger and ask do I really want to eat this?

Educate yourself on the topics that you want to change because “the more you inform yourself the easier it gets to make those conscious choices”

Surround yourself with the people that support you and help you forward.

Stay very close to your intuition and stay mindful of how you feel, what your intuition is trying to tell you.

We often ignore it and then we end up in a place where we feel how did this happen, or how did I make these choices?

Christine shares many more gems like this in today's Vegan Academy Podcast. We go deeper into how to ditch the diet mentality, how easy it is to be vegan right now, her personal journey, and much more.

As excited as we are then check out this week’s episode and as always we would love to connect and hear your feedback.

Ep. #13 Connor Tyson: Progress over Perfection!

Ep. #13 Connor Tyson: Progress over Perfection!

From the UK this calisthenics athlete and trainer helps you to improve your health through bodyweight movement and eating more plants. In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast Conner Tyson shares with us his story of how he got into Calisthenics and coaching people in his online academy.

Connor speaks highly about the calisthenics community, the way people are open to learn and really lift each other up makes it a very relaxed atmosphere for people from every level.

The benefits of Calisthenic build on more areas of fitness at the same time. It creates more balance and core control, focused on combinations of movements that use muscle groups in unison with each other. Instead of isolating single muscle groups which is often the case with more traditional ways of training in a gym.

So where do you start?

With calisthenics, it’s all about investing time in learning the basic movements and getting creative.

The more you learn the more you understand which leads to much better results over time.

Start with basic movements that require core strength, like planks, hangs, press-ups, and knee raises and built your way up from there.

The Main Obstacles that Conner sees are often related to going to far ahead for the level they are,

or lacking the confidence to try something new.

If you do the same workout over and over you probably not make any progress. But if you challenge yourself and change it up you will get most likely progress a lot quicker.

Like with anything in life if you start small you will see results.

Willpower alone is not good enough to create a new habit, you need to make it super easy

Don’t go all in at once because you will not be able to stick to it. Build it up over time instead.

Don’t get discouraged if you miss a day or a week. Just start again, try your best, stay as consistent as you can and you will see the results from it.

Focus on the bigger picture, not just training but also flexibility, mobility, and what you eat to make up a huge part of the actual result.

Conner remembers us that it is always Progress over perfection. So just keep on going and Do something today that you didn’t do yesterday.

Ep. #12 Tomm Melody: Just get started!

Ep. #12 Tomm Melody: Just get started!

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast Vegan Coach Tomm Melody shares with us his years of experience in helping people optimize their vegan lifestyle. Creating the balance of a healthy body and mind. Bridging the gap between where people are today and where they want to go be.

Tomm takes us on the journey of how we can get the results in a life that we are after.

The start is the main thing, it will ultimately give you the motivation to keep going and transform your life over time.

Unfortunately, it’s not just as easy as getting started. Having a clear why makes it a lot easier to stick to your goals when the “honeymoon phase” is over. Making change happen is not just about those abs or a certain physique but what that represents for you!

One of the biggest mistakes many of us make is doing too much too soon. Rather go for small steps and doing one thing very well before you move on to the next

Allow yourself to make mistakes because that is the way to learn and move forward.

Don’t hold yourself back by the perfectionist version of what you want to do or who you want to become. Too many of us never get started because we just make way to many excuses.  “If you see the barriers you never get started”

Often the thing we are most scared of is exactly the thing we should be doing. So just GET STARTED! It doesn’t really matter how or with what as long as you do something.

In the week’s podcast together with Tomm we dive deep into how you can change your lifestyle. Accountability, the key obstacles, leading by example, and much more.

As excited as we are?

Ep. #11 Eduard Dumee: How to start your day?

Ep. #11 Eduard Dumee: How to start your day?

In this week’s Vegan Academy Podcast friend of the show Eduard Dumee shares with us his inspiring story.

He talks about how after experiencing his own darkest places of the mind he healed himself through meditation and inner child work.

After ending up in a mental hospital and feeling numb because of talking all the medication that they prescribed him. He received an inner message that he needed his feelings to heal himself.

Through his journey of healing himself, he came in contact with nonduality which learned him “you are not what you think and you are not what you feel”.  Which created distance between himself and the feelings (of pain) he experienced.

In this process, he learned how to recognize the (negative) patterns – Because he mentions “If you follow the same program the situations will stay the same”  To make change happen you have to look at what happened and how you respond. And ask yourself ho do I want to respond?

We often react in a certain way because that is your habit that makes the situation safe for yourself.

Inner child work is a very effective method to follow the feeling and give your inner child exactly what it needed at that moment.

Once you can give the child from your grown perspective what is needed than the energy can change than the healing starts.

“If the child can trust you again the child will not take over when the situation takes place “

Nowadays his routines are what keeping him energetic and flow through his day. He describes the importance of doing the most important things for yourself in the early mornings. Through a series of activities like reading, meditation, yoga, physical exercise, getting fresh air, and eating a healthy breakfast he sets the tone for his day.

To help others feel the same he and his girlfriend Saonah Viane joined forces and put all their experience and knowledge in their new project called “eenvroegbegin”, translated an early start.

Most people are very excited about trying out new things. Its important to not be too hard on yourself. Eduard says It takes 21 days to form a habit so give yourself time and patience to make it into a new routine. Eenvroegbegin can be the perfect guide for you if you want the help and support of like-minded people to change your life.

He ends by saying “alone you go faster but together we go further. And that is exactly what they are creating with Eenvroegbegin.

Ep. #10 Mark Kriebel: Just do and be Chill.

Ep. #10 Mark Kriebel: Just do and be Chill.

Smashing Milestone after milestone this week @theveganacademy, already the 10th Vegan Academy Podcast.

In this week's Podcast we present Mark Kriebel. This Dutch Viking picked up a camera a little over a year ago and was instantly hooked. After documenting the skills of multiple top public speakers he is now using his skills further to help you share your message online.

Mark got the opportunity to fly to Washington with Chris Baldwin and even went to Indonesia to shoot. But when the whole lockdown happened the work started to dry up and he started to think about how he could turn that around. That’s how the Trickle media community was born.

Helping people upgrade their online presence is not just about using better equipment and knowing how to record. It might even be a lot more about how to share your own voice in a way that people actually care about. And that to a large extent comes down to are you yourself?

Through his own personal transformation from being overweight and not doing much to continue taking action. His motto in this is “Just do something”

Often it doesn’t even matter what, whats matters most is that you actually get started.

Learn from every experience and just find out what you like doing. When you have a vision of where you want to go to and just do, it often flows into existence.

Mark lives and acts out of his core. “Be chill” is his mantra. Everything in life comes down to it he says. “If you are always stressing about stuff it is probably not worth it. Just chill and ask does it actually matter what I’m stressing about right now?”

Want to upgrade your life? Than being chill is one of the best advice he can give you.

Besides his laid back attitude, Mark has an enormous drive to help people. If you don’t know what you like, or what to do next in life just start to help others. Don’t like what you are doing? Change it, it’s that easy.

During this podcast, we dive deeper into how to upgrade your online presence but most of all what kind of person you need to be to do that. Mark shares many of his personal experiences about how he got where he is today and how that could help you as well.

Ep. #9 Mike Davies: Learning to allow and surrender.

Ep. #9 Mike Davies: Learning to allow and surrender.

In this week's Vegan Academy Podcast Mike Davies shares with us his journey. From being a Jaimy Oliver apprentice to one of the hottest vegan chefs en recipe creators in Barcelona.

He talks about how his own challenges in life made him realize what’s truly important. And how through different practices he healed himself and became the person that he is today.

Mike is a traditionally trained chef with more than 9 years of experience, of which the last 4 years as a vegan chef.

His passion for preparing food really skyrocketed when he transitioned to fully plant-based cooking and living.

This transition got triggered already years before when working as a young chef in Australia. The lifestyle he was living left him feeling unfulfilled even eventually led into as Mike calls it the “dark nights of the soul”

Through these darkest nights, he slowly becomes aware of the process of allowing and surrendering.

“The bitter truth you can't do anything about your feelings you can only allow them to move. The healing is more in the non-doing than in the doing”

The more he allowed the experience with as much patience and compassion as possible. The more he learned to trust the experience and take his hands off the experience. That’s what was truly healing.

Mike speaks passionately about spirituality and philosophy and does question it sometimes whether his purpose will be with this or being a chef.

But he doesn't pin things down. He finished with Life is so wise and life leads the way. So he allows life to present the opportunities and responds accordingly.

This week's Vegan Academy podcast is packed with insights about the life of a talented chef, healing the darkest places of the mind, and plant-based cooking.

Ep. #8 Jad: The importance of connections.

Ep. #8 Jad: The importance of connections.

On this week's The Vegan Academy Podcast I'm honored to introduce Jad to you.

This marketeer with a passion for traveling and sharing vegan food, mostly avocados ;). Shares his journey how he went from living in Paris to working in Dubai building up his experience in marketing.

Today's world, both on and offline, business or personal, is all about creating relationships. This is not something that just comes out of nowhere. The rise in compassion and empathy have been contributing to that for many years already.

But now with more and more businesses also moving online, we are reaching a breaking point.

Being personally invested in the other person is what ultimately builds trustworthy and meaningful relationships.

Jad himself also experienced and realized that nurturing those relationships with the people you love becomes more and more important.

The businesses and people that honestly care about the other person are the ones coming out at the top.

Working with social influencers, bloggers, etc is an easy way to help create awareness about your brand or product. The more authentic that person is and the more honest their opinion the more valuable their opinion is.

As a company online it’s important to ask yourself WHO do you want to work together with. WHO do you want to represent you?

Many things are changing right now and there is much we don't know yet. But one thing is certain, true connections will increase its importance and will shape the way we interact with each other.

Ep. #7 Maeva Cifuentes: How to build Authentic relationships

Ep. #7 Maeva Cifuentes: How to build Authentic relationships

In Podcast #7 We have Maeva Cifuentes Multilingual, SEO marketing strategist for ambitious brands. Helping them grow with EPIC content. She is the Founder of @flyingcatmarketing. She grew up in the States but now building brand further from her base in Barcelona.

Maeva shares her journey on how she went from writing blog posts to growing her own marketing agency.

Building authentic relationships is where the MAGIC happens. It is cliche but EMPATHY is still the game. Nowadays building true relationships and genuinely being interested in the other person without further agenda is key to growing your business online.

She shares some key do and don't when it comes to networking and building a personal brand. Something just can't be scaled. In order to build authentic relationships, you have to invest in the other person.

"Don't be that guy/girl at the party that just talks about all the languages he/she speaks and their high score on Call of Duty"

Make time, and ask questions.

The reason why a lot of people hate networking Maeva says is that they see other people as $ signs instead of people.  "Obviously it gets awkward when you have to ask people for money, everyone would feel awkward with that".

With more and more people spending their time online it is important to stand out in the crowd and be yourself. The Dragon method from Don Jung from Socialmediadragon can help you with that as well.

Generating traffic comes a lot down to talking about what your customers want. Maeva shares some great tips and tricks on how you can find that out.

Ep. #6 Ethan Suero: How to become the Yoda to your Skywalker?

Ep. #6 Ethan Suero: How to become the Yoda to your Skywalker?

At the Vegan Academy Podcast we like to mix things up from time to time. That’s why this week we are super excited to welcome this talented brand identity and web designer.

@ethansuero shares with us his journey how he traded the sunny the coast of Spain for the often wet and cold England. Doubled down on developing his artistic skills to learn how he could provide solutions for vegan businesses sharing their message online.

Ethan helps us understand the distinction between brand identity and your brand.

Brand Identity is not just a logo and a logo is not a brand.

Branding is everything you do from communication to how you behave online and interact with your audience.

Brand identity on its terms is mainly visible assets like color, shades or typography.

So how do you define your Brand?

Step 1. is to set a GOAL: Figure out what solution you can provide for the possible problem of your audience.

You don’t need to sell the solution, you focus on how you solve the problem.

Step 2: is to position yourself so you will stand out from the competition. What makes you different, what makes you, you?

And as with every progress in life, you won't get the results you are after without staying consistent.

Ethan points out that the current times are a great opportunity for businesses to move online, share their message, and help others.

Remember that your customer is always the HERO, and it is always about their goals, not yours.

“You have to become the Yoda to your Skywalker.

Want to know more about building your brand and how to provide value to your audience? Than definitely listen to this week's Vegan Academy Podcast.

Ep. #5 Elodie Teles: What is your why?

Ep. #5 Elodie Teles: What is your why?

Ep #5 Elodie Teles

In this week's Podcast, Elodie Teles shares with us her story about how she went from working over a decade in hospitality and traveling the world. To going vegan overnight after watching Cowspiracy. Feeling so strongly about this that she decided to share this message and become a vegan virtual assistant.

After launching her virtual assistant business to help vegan businesses to save time so they can focus on what they are good at. She found her roots (at least for now ) in Gran Canaria. Here she came in contact with vegan activism.  Her experience with the cube of truth is not extreme; activism comes from kindness, it's about respect, and bringing awareness she says passionately.

Every vegan that shares their message does a kind of activism. "Everything counts whatever it is that you share it is amazing!" It is all about the power of planting seeds.

Her passion for creating a vegan world and helping businesses do that, gets defined by a clear WHY. Business is not something to just make money it is about purpose. It's about sharing the vegan message.  Entrepreneurship is not easy, there will be tough times so it's important to know why you do this and stay consistent.

She recommends to get people around you that are on a similar journey, so they can help and support you. It's important to connect online and stop seeing each other as competition. Instead learn, and grow together.

Elodie shares this and many more gems on how to connect and grow your business online. This driven and passionate vegan businesswoman has big goals, and we are sure she will achieve them. Want to connect with her and see what else she does? Check out the links below.

Ep. #4 Guido Soeteman: How to change your reality?

In this week's episode Guide Soeteman takes us with him on his personal journal. From working in a gym and starting his own training community the Goaltrainers.  Living in the Canary Island and eventually getting back to his hometown Wageningen to add on to what he had started.

He is dedicated to helping people transform their inner and outer reality through movement, nutrition, and mindset coaching.

But how do you transform your reality?

Guido identifies connecting with his roots and living with his family as one of the most grounding experiences of his life.

Meditation, yoga as well as connecting with nature are part of his daily practice to create space between him, and thoughts, and emotions. To become "the observer".

In a practical way, you can even create immediate space between you and the thoughts or feelings. Writing down the thoughts and how you feel already creates space. This makes you more aware and therefore the unconscious, conscious.

Also screaming it OUT  is a great way for releasing energy or feelings to create more space and feel more at ease.

Of course, this is not everything. Besides how you can change your reality he provides us with some practical tips about you can also help others on the path of self-discovery.

Ep. #2 With Rand Hereman: How to change your perception, and do the things you've never done before?

Welcome back Vegan Academy family for this week's podcast.

It's my biggest pleasure to introduce to you my coach and mentor, but also close friend Randy Hereman here to you today.

He shares his personal journey. How he went from pro kitesurfer to online poker player and eventually building his start-up younghuman.com. Where he helps vegan change-makers execute online and automate their systems, without writing any code.

Veganism was the spark that enlightened his journey towards more self-awareness and realizing that it's our perception that creates our reality. Often how we perceive is how we interact.

Randy said "If we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change" quoting Wayne Dyer.

Becoming this new version of yourself means going out of your comfort zone. By definition going out of your comfort zone will be uncomfortable, hence comfort zone. That's why it's important that you execute.

In the end, you don't need motivation if you really care about a problem in the world you just go out and do.

You just need to execute. Start small and keep doing.
