Chris Rackliffe on - are you anxious, avoidant, disorganised or secure? Breaking down attachment theory, childhood trauma and relationships

Chris Rackliffe on - are you anxious, avoidant, disorganised or secure? Breaking down attachment theory, childhood trauma and relationships

On today's guest episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat chats to Chris Rackliffe, a Anxious Attachment Style Coach and Author. Chris is also a trauma healer, a mental health advocate and author of the self-help book, It’s Good to See Me Again: How to Find Your Way When You Feel Lost—an illuminating guidebook on the journey to find emotional healing.

If you struggle to have your emotional needs met in a relationship or identify that you display anxious or avoidant behaviour then this episode is for you.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Chris explains what attachment theory is and what the different attachment styles are including anxious, avoidant, disorganised and secure.
  • That we tend to develop an insecure attachment style during childhood through trauma whether it's big or small and what trauma means.
  • Chris shares what brought on his anxious attachment including the loss of his mother and the emotional distance between him and his father amongst other difficult personal traumas.
  • That being disconnected from our care givers, physically and emotionally triggers our survival responses and causes trauma.
  • How the different roles we play in childhood like for example 'the golden child' can deeply affect how we expect our needs to be met as adults.
  • That you can develop insecure attachment styles in adult life through relationship traumas and sometimes over or under-compensate our behaviour
  • Why you need emotional and nervous system regulation in order to grow more and discover a secure attachment style and that your emotions live within your nervous system.
  • The importance of taking accountability for your behaviour and not blaming or shaming yourself so that you can allow healing to take place.
  • How self love is a key component for healing and that you have to love yourself into evolution, soften and open up more often than not.
  • Every human will experience anxiety, fear, worry and doubt, what brings us into balance again and helps us heal is when we have the ability to hold those emotions and bounce back to a place of self love and trust.
  • The most important piece of advice for finding an aligned romantic partner is to honour yourself and walk away from those who are not in alignment with your values.
  • To remember you are NOT broken and you do NOT require fixing ❤️

I'm happy and my life's in check, but I want to share my life with someone - where the hell is Mr.Right?

I'm happy and my life's in check, but I want to share my life with someone - where the hell is Mr.Right?

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat speaks openly about the fact that despite being happy with herself she can't shake the feeling of loneliness and wanting to share her life with a partner but can't seem to meet the right guy.

If you are in your 40's like Kat or even older and are single but want a partner and feeling frustrated and fed up with waiting, then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Kat vulnerably shares how she has been feeling really unsettled for a while and how she's now realised the thing that's unsettling her is being single in her 40's.
  • How it's perfectly normal to crave to be with a partner as this is part of being human and a primitive program.
  • That happiness doesn't come into the desire to be with someone, Kat is very happy but she can't shake the feeling of loneliness.
  • The role of the masculine and feminine and how the feminine is not designed to be alone.
  • That it despite Kat attracting men to her she can't seemed to find the right one.
  • How you can feel wonderful in yourself but despite working on yourself, doing all your inner work etc it doesn't guarantee you will find your partner and this is incredibly frustrating.
  • In terms of spirituality there will be a reason why Kat has not found her partner, there is a lesson she can't see and that it will happen at the right time.
  • It's impossible to stop the pain of loneliness and if the emotion is present it's the universes way of getting you to feel it.
  • That you can only go as high as you go low and that this time alone being single is sacred and an opportunity to love yourself more deeply.
  • The importance of working on the love for yourself and understanding your subconscious so that you can be happy in yourself.

Diets don't work: How to lose weight without dieting and keep it off forever

Diets don't work: How to lose weight without dieting and keep it off forever

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat shares her top tips and suggestions on how to lose weight sustainably and healthily, without dieting or restriction, still being able to eat all the foods you love! This episode also dives into the holistic side of weightloss and what foods to eat to keep your body healthy, prevent disease and chronic health conditions.

If you have been trying to lose weight, tried all the diets and are fed up because nothing seems to be working then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Kat share's that the key to losing weight and keeping it off comes from a lifestyle shift and seeing it as a long term change rather than short term.
  • The fastest way to lose weight is when you switch to more natural, whole foods and avoid processed and sugars.
  • Eating manmade unnatural chemicals causes harm to the cells of the body and can lead to chronic diseases such as cancer, cardiac disease and diabetes. It also causes weight gain.
  • The dangers of sugar, how it is an addictive drug and the damage it does to your body.
  • Why whole foods are better to eat than highly processed, sugary foods when it comes to weight loss and that they keep you fuller for longer reducing the need to snack.
  • The reason why restriction doesn't work and that if there's a sugary or processed food you desire it's ok to eat it occasionally just not all the time.
  • The benefits of a eating a balanced meal 2 to 3 times a day.
  • How fasting can help with weightoss
  • The best time of day to eat your evening meal, that being 3 to 4 hours before bed.
  • How not enough sleep can cause weight gain as it reduces the hunger hormone Grehlin.
  • Why staying well hydrated helps with weightloss and how it actually helps burn carbohydrates and fats.
  • Having the right mindset about food and not labelling any food as good as eating is psychologically good for you and bad helps you to stay on track to your weight loss goals. Living by the 80% 20% rule means you never restrict yourself from the foods you love.
  • Why it's important to not punish yourself for eating 'badly' and how stress contributes to weight gain and actually prevents you from losing weight.
  • The power of self love, inner peace and calm, how this helps regulate your hormones, lowers stress and aids with weight loss.
  • Getting clear on how you want to feel and keeping this feeling at the forefront of your mind will help you stay on track and make choices that will serve you in your weight loss journey.
  • Why weights and strength training will help you lose weight faster and also tone up.
  • Changing your relationship with food, seeing it as medicine and understanding how it becomes a part of you and not just seeing it as something that prevents hunger.

Stop denying your ego the spotlight, it's a part of you too

Stop denying your ego the spotlight, it's a part of you too

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat shares her experience of what happens when we over effort and push ourselves in the health and wellbeing space and how there come's a point where stopping and giving your ego permission to take control is required to feel balanced. If you have been over efforting and it's beginning to feel like an unnecessary chore, then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Kat explains how over-efforting in her business and with her wellness practices has lead to burn out and and exhaustion and how to regain balance your body will likely take you to the opposite of what you've experienced.
  • How intentionally allowing your ego to take over, be free and have a play is very healthy for you because your ego is a part of what it is to be human, always denying your ego means you're denying a part of yourself.
  • Doing your inner work, living holistically, practicing self care and self love is still important and necessary to heal and feel happier inside, but you don't have to do this constantly.
  • How when you feel really good about yourself and on the inside, the desire for your goals and dreams becomes lessoned because feeling happy inside IS the ultimate win and this is what Kat's experiencing.
  • Kat share's how she is living her life now, in full surrender, walking through all the doors that open and allowing the doors that close to close, trusting in the flow of life and going along for the ride.
  • There is so much power in neutrality and when we make decisions from a state of balance, calm and peace it leads us to a life in alignment with our highest self.
  • How when you allow true surrender you release a lot of tension, drop anxiety and even the difficult things feel easy.
  • That to get better at following your intuition, pause and pay attention to how each action you take feels within your body, what feels like a good feeling and where do you feel it and equally what feels wrong and where do you feel it? This helps you to seize the right opportunities for you.
  • The happiest you get to be is right here right now, you don't have to wait for the thing that you think will make you happy.

Tal Saville on understanding who you were born to be through Human Design

Tal Saville on understanding who you were born to be through Human Design

On today's guest episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat chats to Tal Saville, a Human Design Expert, spiritual life coach and energy healer. She has an obsession for all things energy and helps people re-discover their true selves so they can build their best lives through tools like Human Design, parts work, energy work, holistic healing, and more. For maximum personal insight, before listening to this enlightening episode, go check out which Human Design type you are over on Tal's website www.energywithtal.com

If you are seeking to better understand who you are, why you are the way you are and want more clarity on your purpose then this episode is for you.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Tal breaks down what Human Design is and how it gives you a map to your energy and a tailored guide on how to live a healthy, happy and satisfying life.
  • That Human Design is made up of 4 parts - The Kabbalah tree of life, the Chinese I-Ching system, Astrology and the Hindu Chakra system
  • Tal shares what lead her to Human Design including the discovery that she was queer which lead her wanting to discover more about herself, getting a coach and eventually finding Human Design.
  • How everything is just energy and that there is so much more to enjoy and delight in that the world we see and how we are meant for more.
  • Tal explains the different types of Human Design including Generators, Manifesting Generators, Projectors, Manifestors and Reflectors.
  • Each type is meant to feel a certain way in life - Generators and manifesting generators are meant to feel satisfied, Projectors are meant to feel successful, Manifestors are meant to feel peaceful and Reflectors are meant to feel surprised.
  • When you are out of alignment and using your energy incorrectly, an opposite feeling will occur, for Generators it’s frustration, for a Projector it’s bitterness, for a Manifestor it’s anger and for a Reflector it’s disappointment.
  • Listening to what feels right for you and tuning into your body will help move you towards a life that aligns to you.
  • Tal explains what the defined and undefined parts of the body graph Human Design chart means and how the coloured parts mean you have consistent access to energy in those parts and can rely on and how the undefined parts highlight inconsistent energy and open to receiving energy from outside of you from other people and places and are therefore more vulnerable.
  • Tal gives a mini Human Design reading using Kat’s Chart as an example to understand how to read a chart and what the different bits mean.
  • How practicing how things feel in your body and understanding what is a a right feeling and a wrong feeling for you is your inner compass.

Brooke Yantzi on the healing power of dance and movement

Brooke Yantzi on the healing power of dance and movement

On today's guest episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat chats to Brooke Yantzi a Intuitive and Somatic Coach, Creator of the Dance Alchemy Somatic Healing modality and TedX speaker. This powerful episode explores what it takes for the body to heal and how somatic movement, dance, tuning in and connecting to your body helps us to heal our repressed pain, trauma and trapped emotions. If you are on a healing journey or are struggling with pain, trauma or negative energy and want to feel liberated then this episode is for you. Key Points covered in today's episode: • Brooke breaks down exactly what she does and how she does it, helping people heal through somatics and dance and connect to the wisdom within us.

• How we live in a world that's disconnected from our bodies, in overwhelm and with an over-regulated nervous system and how dance is one of the best ways to bring us back into our bodies combining the 5 elements earth, water, fire, air and ether.

• That life itself is a dance and we can't always be operating at our peak performance and how the real medicine is when we allow ourselves to be all of ourselves, the ego, the heart, the spirit.

• Love and compassion for ourself is where the healing really lies, to fully accept who we are.

• The importance of feeling safe in your body and how this attributes to healing by creating an opening for healing, expression and creativity.

• A huge part of the reason we are in a mental health crisis is because our nervous systems are over stimulated and over-regulated by so many things coming at them including a lack of sunshine (vitamin D) which helps regulate us.

• What sort of movement in particular helps with healing and how allowing your body to move how it wants to, shaking and bouncing releases a lot of negative energy.

• Brooke shares how that somatics and dancing helped her to navigate the grief portal of the ending of her marriage and how she allowed the many many emotions to be felt instead of bypassed.

• The importance of being supported by other people when you have a traumatic or emotionally painful experience.

• How feminine sacred rage and anger is incredibly powerful and extremely healing not just for yourself but the world and it can be expressed in a healthy way. How to handle loneliness

How to handle loneliness

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat shares very vulnerably about how she is currently struggling with loneliness and what she does to help her deal with it. If you have ever felt lonely or are currently experiencing loneliness and are struggling with it then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode: Kat sheds tears as she begins this episode speaking about being how it's New Years Eve 2023, how she is completely alone and has never felt more alone How that even though Kat understands rationally that this moment won't last it doesn't invalidate her feelings and the pain she is experiencing. How to navigate the feeling of loneliness and the steps to take to alleviate it including acceptance and leaning in, expressing the emotion, self love, doing something that makes you feel good and going to a public place with people. Engaging with other people, even just a little and making simple conversation helps you establish human connection and can help you to feel better. That changing the environment is a powerful tool in helping you to feel less alone and acts as a distraction from lonely thoughts. How talking to someone about how you feel takes off a lot of mental weight. Ways you can connect with other people, make new friends, meet new people and find your community. How being vulnerable with others is a fantastic way to form deeper connections and strengthen bonds with others. Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Kat shares her experience of spending a lot of time on her own and how even though she was working away on her business, having nothing else outside of that led to feeling of boredom.
  • How just surviving isn't enough anymore, humans want to thrive and our modern life has made everything so easy.
  • That when you are single, don't have children and don't have a family of your own we tend to throw ourselves into a project, passion or career and that it's not everyone's job to procreate, we all have our separate mission.
  • The positive side of spending time alone by yourself is that you gain ideas, inspiration and creativity and clarify your purpose.
  • How when you push yourself too much and you are not listening to what your body and intuition is telling you, you'll be forced into a position to stop.
  • The way the digital world is interfering with our peace and connection to ourselves and the answers we seek about our purpose.
  • If you are failing to learn the lesson life is giving you then it may just be that you have to break and your world as you know it may fall apart so that you understand and gain clarity towards a life that aligns to you.

Asher Wright on the challenges of being an immigrant

On today's guest episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat chats to Asher Wright, a Life Changing Wisdom Coach, Author of the acclaimed Demi Divine book series and Co-Host of Pandoras Awareness Podcast. Ashers mission in life is to collect stories and circulate life changing wisdom.

This is a special TWO PART episode. In part one Kat interviews Asher then in the second part , Asher interviews Kat over on his show Pandora's Awareness Podcast <<

In this episode Asher and Kat explore the topic of immigration and the challenges it causes including racism, identity crisis, language barriers and lack of community.

If you are thinking about moving countries or are already an immigrant experiencing challenges in a new country, then this episode is for you.

Key Points covered in today's episode:

  • Asher explains what made him want to become a 'Wisdom Coach' how he has always been a dreamer and an active pursuer of wisdom and came over from Jamaica to the US to join the army
  • How wisdom comes from experiencing the new and integrating that knowledge into your life.
  • The attitude Asher was met with when he cam over to the USA from Jamaica, how he experienced a lot of racism in the south and how sometimes this happens when people haven't travelled much.
  • How travelling the world helps to break down racial barriers by immersing yourself in different cultures and see people for who they are and not judge them by the colour of their skin.
  • The identity crisis immigrants and veterans suffer from and how language and re-joining the real world after being a part of the close knit community in the military can be a major cause.
  • What happens when you don't try to fit in, how going it alone eludes you from community which makes you vulnerable and unprotected.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Kat explains what 'Divine timing' means and how we are always exactly in the right place.
  • How Kat is nowhere near where she expected to be at the age of 40 yet despite this she believes there is a good reason for this and how we can't see the bigger picture.
  • That if something you want does NOT show up for you then there is a reason for that and that there is something better that you possibly can't even imagine coming in its place.
  • How you can block yourself from getting what you want by becoming too attached to the idea of how you're going to get it and you are also blocking yourself from seeing the other pathways and opportunities.
  • The universe will make things really hard for you if your are on the wrong path so that you let go of the attachment to getting something.
  • How leaning into trust and surrender is how you get into flow and alignment with the path that's going to serve you best and how sometimes that path looks like you are going the wrong way but you trust it anyway.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Kat shares her thoughts on what has been presenting itself to her as important while spending a lot of time alone in England and taking stock of her life.
  • The love, acceptance and support she found in her Costa Rican community is unparalleled compared to her previous experience.
  • How deep down we are all looking to feel loved and understood and what we are unconsciously searching for.
  • That community doesn’t have to mean lots of people, sometimes just one person can make all the difference if they make you feel loved and understood.
  • How when there is a lack of love their is more fear and therefore more division, less unity and this is where humanity begins to break down and fall apart.
  • There is a shift happening in the world, where people are waking up and beginning to realise how connected we all are to each other and the planet and the way we currently operate requires changing as it’s not working.
  • What it’s like to experience ‘the oneness’, how everything clicks and you realise that when you hurt others you are hurting yourself and how nature has this figured out
  • How humans have free will and have the choice to respond with love, kindness and compassion instead of fear, hate and anger and how we can re-educate our children.
  • That we live on a planet together and that we are the ones who have split ourselves up into countries, created separation and segregation and that we have a greater chance of survival if we come together rather than divide.
  • Kat shares her vision of the new world and how she sees a world of inclusivity and educating children to be more unified and loving.
  • The more positive thoughts you have, the more you can lean into love, the better you are going to feel inside and the better everyone around you will feel.
  • How YOU can make a difference to the planet by choosing to do your own inner work and choosing to be kind and compassionate.

Navigating heartbreak and moving on up

Navigating heartbreak and moving on up

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat openly talks you through her most recent wellbeing challenge after her relationship ended with the man she believed she would live happily ever after with and who embodied everything she wrote down for her manifestation of a partner. If you are someone who has struggled to find your person, recently been through a breakup or been love bombed then this episode is for you.

Key topics covered in today's episode:

  • Kat explains how if you've been hurt it shows how brave you were because you've been able to drop your guard, open your heart and feel deeply.
  • How sometimes actions can align with words and all flags are green but that doesn't prevent you from getting hurt.
  • Kat's experience of what her relationship was like, how it all just seemed to effortlessly flow and how it ended so suddenly.
  • The coping methods Kat used to numb the pain from her broken heart and how when you feel like that you stop caring about your health and wellbeing and you do it to mentally survive.
  • The course of serendipitous events that led up to Kat meeting her ex boyfriend and how that caused more confusion as to why it didn't work out.
  • How the law of attraction works and how because the frequency we emit from our energetic state is mostly subconscious, who you attract into your life can be a reflection of your subconscious therefore it's an invitation to reflect inwards on yourself.
  • If something doesn't work out, Kat sees it as redirection from the universe and that there is something bigger and better for her.
  • That perhaps this relationship was to highlight that Kat has more self love work to do and that the lesson her was simply an invitation.
  • How sometimes people are stepping stones and only meant to be in your life for a shorter time than you believed and doesn't invalidate any feelings.
  • What's meant for you will not pass you by, let things flow and know that time is our greatest healer.

The energetics of being human & tapping into your intuition

The energetics of being human & tapping into your intuition

On today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat discusses the power of creating a life you love by tuning into your body, connecting with your heart, feeling your energy, trusting yourself and following your intuition. If you are in a place that feels wrong, perhaps like you are living out of alignment and you're open to trying a different way of navigating life, then this episode is for you.

Key topics covered in today's episode:

  • Kat share her view on the existential question why we are all here, the concept of free will and having the luxury of choice.
  • How life will keep happening, it's up to you to decide how to experience it and the fact you are alive is a privilege.
  • As humans we are here to experience all emotions, pleasure, pain, highs and lows we are not mean to be happy all the time. Life is full of duality and laws of polarity.
  • The science behind the 'oneness' of the universe, how we are all made of atoms and energy and by hurting someone else you are hurting yourself.
  • Breaking down the feeling inside of you when you cause another person pain and how it physiologically and energetically feels.
  • How you can use the way you feel energetically as a guidance system to lead you to a life of more ease, beauty and joy.
  • The disconnect we have to ourselves has disabled our ability to connect with our intuition and this is a consequence of technology, society and the world of distractions we live in.
  • How to connect with your intuition, the environment, techniques and practices required to turn back on your primal wiring and some ways to experiment with this.
  • The difference between a 'yes' and a 'no' intuitive feeling, what happens internally for Kat, how to interpret confusion or uncertainty and how only you can do this work.
  • How trusting your intuition isn't always easy, it can feel scary because you are acting upon feelings and not logic.

Janessa Talman on: Why living in alignment with your soul's purpose leads to health, happiness & freedom

On today's episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat sits down with Janessa Talman a Holistic Healing Practitioner & Intuitive Astrologer. Janessa uses her extensive training and personal healing experiences to help guide other metaphysically curious women to find their way back into alignment with their soul's purpose and discover their truest nature. If you are feeling lost, like everything keeps going wrong and are in need of some 'soul care' this episode is for you.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Janessa shares where her love of the healing work she does came from, the massive effect manifestation had on her life and how she had an un diagnosable sickness that turned out to be her feeling out of alignment.
  • How Janessa healed herself through the simply choosing to follow what felt spiritually right for her even if it seemed irrational and allowed her heart & mind to be open to receiving.
  • The moment Janessa's psychic abilities came online through a meditation and the unique spiritual sight that it left her with.
  • How everything you want is on the other side of your comfort zone but it may not look the way you want or expect and what limits us the most is our expectations.
  • What it feels like to follow your intuition, the knowing unquestionable feeling that occurs throughout your entire body and how any path you take will always lead you to where you are meant to be going.
  • The false expectations of meditation, how it's different for everyone and what it actually means to meditate.
  • What Claircognizance is, Janessa's experience of this and how many people are shutting down this skill without understanding it or knowing when it's present.
  • The difficulty and challenges that come with opening up about the woo but how it can hold you back in your business and in life generally.
  • What happens when you take scary action, how this resets your point of attraction and puts you on the same energetic frequency of the people and things you want to attract.
  • The importance of not bypassing the fact we are physical beings as well as spiritual ones and we are meant to experience being human so don't be afraid to come down to earth.
  • How Janessa uses astrology to help people find their purpose and soul calling and how to understand yourself and your needs based on your elements and natal chart.
  • How when you don't allow yourself to fully be yourself it can lead to energetic blockages, sickness and disease, which is why astrology is a powerful tool to help you recognise and validate your true nature.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Shelly explains what Energy healing/Energy medicine is, how it works and what she does in her practice.

  • The reason why energy healing can only happen when a person is open and ready to receive and how the choice to go deeper always remains within your control.

  • The initial resistance Shelly felt to her new reality after she received her gifts coming from a science background and how she navigated that confusing time.

  • What it feels like to be a Channel and Medium, what it is, the different ways to channel and the responsibilities that come along with it.
  • The importance of getting to understand yourself so you can differentiate between what you are feeling and the energy of a spirit, entity or guide.
  • Shelly shares some useful tools for how to handle being an empath/hyper sensitive.

A glimpse into my spiritual journey - sharing the weird & wonderful woo

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat share's the strange, the scary and the wonderful spiritual things that have happened to her since her spiritual awakening in early 2021. Kat went from being an atheist to experiencing an avalanche of synchronicities and unexplainable phenomena that has now become a 'normal' and daily part of her life. Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Kat talks about how vulnerable she feels as a former atheist, sharing her spiritual experiences with the world and the reasons why she has decided to share this.
  • How getting your mind and body in an optimum state of health and becoming open minded will create room inside of you to receive new information, raise your vibration and help you connect to higher frequencies and to universal intelligence/god/source (whichever resonates with you).
  • What happened to Kat straight after her spiritual awakening and things to be aware of to protect yourself when you are open to more.
  • Kat shares the full story of the night she experienced a dark entity while she was alone in her cabina in Costa Rica, how it made her shut down to the spiritual world for a while and why she came back to it.
  • When your intuition is really strong it's possible for you to just know things.
  • Kat bravely reveals some spiritual gifts that she has had for a long time but wasn't aware she possessed until very recently and that she feels very uncomfortable in sharing.

How to chase your dreams and how to find the courage to chase them

How to chase your dreams and how to find the courage to chase them

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat shares what it looks like to chase your dreams and provides you with the tools and empowerment you need to get there. If you have a calling that you are not yet choosing to follow and unhappy with your current circumstances but don't know the way out then this episode is for you.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • How doing the things you love, may not fit in with the social norms or what people expect of you but they will help you to feel fulfilled.
  • By researching, learning and becoming the expert on the things that light you up will create more knowledge and a path for your to follow and this was Kat's experience.
  • If you are not happy with where you are right now it's up to you to start making new choices and acting upon them as nothing will change if you are repeating the same actions.
  • How your conditioning and your beliefs contribute to the way you are living therefore a huge part of changing your life and chasing your dreams requires re-programming your subconscious so that you are no longer running in autopilot and have control.
  • We each have a role to play and a place in this world and if you don't fit the mould that's ok, your difference is needed.
  • Reaching a place of alignment and integrity with yourself is like medicine, it helps you feel good and removes any worry, fears or doubt that you may have had before.
  • How it can feel isolating if you are someone who doesn't fit in with societies norms and finding people with similar interests may appear scarce and unlikely to be your neighbours but they do exist.
  • Sometimes you need to start doing something in order to know if it's right for you or not and even if it's not it will help you find new direction that's more aligned to you.
  • Having a clear vision of your goal and a lot of self belief will help you reach your dreams and your passion and desire becomes your fuel.
  • Leaving the past in the past and focusing on the future you wish to create in the present moment will bring you closer to your dreams.

Reed Davis on: fixing your health issues with functional diagnostic nutrition

Reed Davis on: fixing your health issues with functional diagnostic nutrition

On today's episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat has the pleasure of chatting with Reed Davis, Holistic Health Practitioner and founder of Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) where through his long developed alternative method of lab tests he has been able to resolve chronic, persistent issues for thousands of people where more modern, traditional have failed them. If you have had an ongoing issue that feels like it will never go away and you've been to the doctor on multiple occasions then this episode is for you.

Key topics covered in today's episode:

  • Reed shares his background on what got him into Holistic health to where he is now teaching Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) and changing people's lives with his alternative approach.
  • Reed talks about the work he does and explains that what he offers is a long term solution to long term issues through a series of lab tests that cover everything unlike a doctor treating only one part of the body, his 'HIDDEN' method looks at everything in the body.
  • How there's no one 'route' cause for the client's that come to Reed and they are in a state of what he calls metabolic chaos, where the body has a number of things out of balance, one thing provoking another, therefore a simple diagnosis addressing only one area will not necessarily resolve the issue - enter the holistic approach.
  • Reed uses the simple acronym 'DRESS' to help his clients understand the basics of a holistic lifestyle - Diet, rest, exercise, stress reduction and supplementation. Each one to be applied to the individual as we are all unique and require different levels for optimal living.
  • The importance of recognises there's a time and a place for modern medicine, especially if you are in a downwards spiral or need immediate medical attention but his approach can help prevent you reaching that place or after recovery help your body to stay balanced and in harmony through his non standard FDN lab tests.
  • Once all imbalances have been identified through the tests and corrected through supplementation and lifestyle it's possible to start feeling better rapidly as you are now providing your body with everything it needs to function optimally.
  • The reason so many people struggle to feel well is due to their lifestyle choices, for example not eating well, they aren't investing in their health at all, are running in auto-pilot and believe this low level of health to feel normal.
  • The body will signal when something is wrong, this is a symptom of the problem, not the actual problem and if you pay attention to the symptoms and address them you have the potential to feel and look much younger.
  • The better your body and mind function, the less you run on autopilot meaning you get to take back the control of your body, mind and therefore your life.

The happiness secret that nobody wants to hear

The happiness secret that nobody wants to hear

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat explains the importance of facing yourself and doing your own inner work to create inner happiness, peace and wellbeing. If you've been trying to maintain feeling good on the inside for a while now, everything you've tried has failed and was short lived then this episode is for you.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Kat shares the personal up-level she's been going through, a lot of her shadow self has been coming up forcing her to look at it and do the inner work around it and putting her in contact with an energy medicine healer.
  • What inner work is and why doing it is powerful and transformative, it can accelerate your personal growth, healing, help you to move forward with your life and open you up to new opportunities and see life through a whole new lens.
  • Doing the inner work is going to feel uncomfortable and scary but it's through the discomfort we see growth and things become lighter and brighter, there's no rainbow without the storm.
  • Kat's used to suffer a lot before doing her inner work, she was unhappy, confused and had depression on and off for 36 years. She sought everything outside of herself to feel better, nothing worked until she turned her focus inwards.
  • In order to do this work you need to feel it's safe within your body so if you choose to work with someone to guide and support you through the process it's extremely important you trust and feel safe with them as you need to be able to open up fully and release all emotions including tears.
  • Trauma and pain are energy trapped within the body, the first part in letting it go is gaining awareness, the second part is exploring and understanding and the final stage is to verbalise, express and release it in whatever way feels right to you.
  • Carrying all the worry, anxiety, stress, confusion and pain around with you is exhausting because that energy is physically weighing you down.
  • Whatever emotional state you are in radiates out of you, will enter into the environment around you and will be felt by others which is why working on yourself is one of the most selfless things you can do. When your cup is full you have more to offer to others.
  • Putting off doing the work means it will only come back stronger later, avoiding it will only work for a while.
  • When feeling reluctant about doing your inner work ask yourself what's the worst that can happen and remind yourself that doing it will help you to feel better long term and provide you new opportunities you couldn't see before.

The story you're telling yourself has the power to create magic and miracles

The story you're telling yourself has the power to create magic and miracles

In today's episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat shares her most recent insights on her own personal growth journey and how she's been blocking herself from stepping into her power through the old stories she's been listening to and through the words she's been speaking. If you are trying to create a different life for yourself but nothing is working then this powerful episode is for you.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Kat explains how she became aware over the past week that she hasn't been speaking from a place of integrity and that her words have come from a place of habit and conditioning.
  • How when you aren't being honest and integral with yourself it can block you from moving forward and becoming the best version of yourself and stepping into her power.
  • It's the stories that you tell yourself including the words you speak create how you feel and therefore your reality as by the law of attraction the frequency you vibrate on attracts the same back to you.
  • It's impossible to try and fake your vibration and pretend to be ok with your words because energy never lies and eventually the part of yourself you're trying to keep hidden will surface and the only way to raise your vibe is to face your shadow.
  • Kat didn't realise that the old stories she created were running on auto-pilot, they had become habitual and she was blind to herself.
  • A deep shadow part of yourself cannot be seen until it feels safe within your body and nervous system and it will happen at the time it is meant to.
  • Being able to healthily release the parts you are suppressing fully happens somatically as well as vocally and in Kat's recent experience the tears needed to come first to create space for the words.
  • It's necessary to wade through the muddy dark water of your mind in order to raise your vibration and get on that high frequency otherwise you'll stumble upon many blocks.
  • The universe responds to vibration not to logic or language so this is why in order to change your reality you must become an energetic match for that which is your desire and the most important thing to stay in alignment is to follow your inner knowing, your inner most truth.
  •  The story that you believe and feel is the reality that you are going to create from this moment forward, choose your words carefully as they carry energy.

Using emotional consciousness as guidance for dating and for finding alignment

Using emotional consciousness as guidance for dating and for finding alignment

In today's episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat shares her experience of the importance of being able to identifying when we have an emotional reaction within our decision making process and how we can use this to guide us into making the right choice for us. Doing so brings you into alignment - your mind, body and soul are working in harmony with each other and in a way that best serves you. If you are feeling off balance, then this episode is for you.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • How when are emotions are particularly strong we are knocked off our center and because of the law of polarity it means we are now closer to the opposite end of the spectrum and therefore more at risk of the situation/circumstance being flipped on it's head.
  • Our bodies are naturally always trying to regulate and bring us back to a state of balance and equilibrium
  • If you are putting efforts towards a new venture/project etc and want it to last, making that decision from a balanced emotional state will create that sustainability. If there is too much or too little energy/emotion involved your efforts will be short lived.
  • If you are in a dark place right now, thanks to the laws of polarity you know that you can go as high as you are low which can be a comforting thought in those challenging times.
  • Making decisions from a place of calm and centeredness will lead to true alignment. Kat uses a former dating example to explain this.
  • When you are connected well to your body you can detect those subtle feelings/energy/physiological effects within you that signal the truth of an experience you are having to you however quite often our ego steps in and tries to take over.
  • When in comes to finding a romantic partner, the right person for you will not cause you confusion, worry, anxiety, doubt and unbalanced, they will make you feel like calm, centered and safe to be yourself.
  • Kat shares that thanks to all the inner work and the love she has shown herself she now has the courage and strength to walk away from those men that are not right for her as now she values, respects and loves herself.
  • Don't stop yourself from experiencing the extremities of your emotions because without this you will not be able to find your center point or appreciate it when you get there and also as humans we are here to experience it all.
  • Wherever you are in life right now, know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be, you are meant to be experiencing it all.
  • Everything is in a constant state of change, of fluctuation, of evolvement and it will not stay the way it is forever, all we have is right now, so enjoy the ride :)

Sean Fowler on: Coping with post war PTSD & how growing plants helps you to heal

Sean Fowler on: Coping with post war PTSD & how growing plants helps you to heal

In today's episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat has the privilege of talking to one of life’s true hero’s, ex US combat veteran and gardener enthusiast Sean Fowler. In this conversation Sean explains how caring for all his plants has helped him cope with post war PTSD, trauma and has even stopped him attempting suicide. It turns into an emotional conversation fuelled by Sean's passion and the desire to prevent ex service men and women from taking their lives. This is such an important discussion for anyone who’s suffered from, is currently experiencing or is being affected by someone with any kind of PTSD, if that sounds like you, then this episode is for you.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • Sean explains that he decided to join the army back in 2005 after seeing the 9/11 attacks and felt compelled to help out but admits that he didn't really think through the decision to join.
  • The story of when Sean was injured by an IED explosion in one of the most dangerous parts of Baghdad during the Iraqi war. He sustained lower lumber spine damage that resulted in both minor and later major surgery with a S3/4 lumber fusion which has left him in chronic pain. He was awarded a Purple Heart.
  • Accepting where you are right now, embracing the inevitability of change and not becoming attached to the outcome is the key to feeling more at peace with yourself and with life.
  • How suffering from PTSD puts you in constant fight or flight mode thus raising levels of adrenaline and left Sean with the feeling he was always about to be attacked. He also experienced very common PTSD traits including re-enactment, flashbacks and verbal and physical outbursts through triggers that reminded him of his time in service.
  • Talking about what happened has massively helped Sean to recover. It has allowed him to stop running an untrue narrative in his head, let go of any survivor's guilt he felt around what happened and move forward without the past creeping up on him unexpectedly.
  • Growing plants and gardening has been significant in Sean's healing journey, it gives him an going project, something to nurture and care for and prevents him feeling suicidal as the plants need him around in order them to stay alive. It also promotes movement, more presence and mindfulness.
  • Sean explains his initiative 'Operation houseplant healing'
  • The importance of allowing yourself to express your emotions especially as a man and how damaging it is to keep your feelings buried. Crying should be seen as a strength not a weakness and this is a faster road to healing and moving forwards in life.
  • Sean explains the best thing you can do if you're suffering with PTSD is to talk to someone even if it's a friend and that there is a brighter day awaiting you.
