EPISODE-LISTENING
In this episode it’s time to unlock one of the keys to doing it little better…better listening. If we learn to listen to what’s going on around us with not only our two physical ears, but also with our “spiritual ears”, a beautiful symphony emerges. Deep stuff this week, Stu…
Stu: “Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…
Comment on Facebook, email us, we want to more of your stories!
Article on Patheos by Tom Rapsas entitled, “5 Ways to Hear What God is Telling You.”
Discernment: spiritual judgement and understanding, which comes from listening to God (i.e., the foundation of all life.). Allows us to sift through our impulses, motives and opinions.
“IF GOD IS SPEAKING, HOW COME I DON’T HEAR IT?”
PRAYER AND CONTEMPLATION
Pondering is a lost art.
Takes the focus off of “me”.
Engage spiritual perception
READING THE “BOOK OF NATURE”
Feel the resonance with the universe.
Appreciate beauty
Enter into the rhythm
Practice “oneness”.
PAYING ATTENTION TO PEOPLE IN YOUR PATH
Of course. There are no coincidences.
Everyone is a channel for God to see the world. Namaste.
Mainly look to primary relationships. Anyone can have impact and influence.
Engage.
ANALYZING THE EVENTS OF THE DAY
“What might God be doing, here?”
Look for confirming “billboards”.
Take time to ponder both the welcome and the unwelcome events.
Purpose to learn from the day.
LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE DRAWN TO READ [written or audio]
Look for the Divine Communication
Look for patterns
Flesh out new thoughts and concepts with others.
Be open-minded.
THE “THEREFORE…”: Using discernment results in:
Our lives are less chaotic and less filled with drama.
Less anxious and fearful.
More comfortable with solitude and with accepting uncertainty
Discover a deep, inner peace.
Mystic MacNugget: “Behold life instead of merely observing it. Kind of makes the whole…holy, doesn’t it?” -Mac

It's All So...Fragile...

It's All So...Fragile...

EPISODE-FRAGILITY
In this episode we’re going to talk about just how fragile everything is. In light of that, we want to come from a place of poise and not fear. Let’s talk about how to do that just a little bit better… Hey, Stu…
Stu: “Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…
Comment on Facebook, email us, we want to more of your stories!
Play the clip: Saturday Night Lights, Season 1, Episode 1
“Give all of us that have gathered here tonight the strength to remember that life is so very fragile. We are all vulnerable. And we will all, at some point in our lives…fall. We will all fall. We must carry this in our hearts. That what we have is special. That it can be taken from us. And when it is taken from us, we will be tested. We will be tested to our very souls. We will all now be tested…
STRENGTH
To acknowledge and face the uncertainties.
Strength that transcends the physical but speaks to the emotional and spiritual.
It must be cultivated. Individually and corporately.
FRAGILE
Circumstances.
Our “certainties”
Relationships (divorce)
Institutions, religions, democracy(USA)
Life
VULNERABLE
It’s impossible to live life without “casualties”. We want to minimize them, not eliminate them.
Some occupations create more vulnerability(risk) than others.
FALL
We aren’t always going to get it right.
Fall from comfort. Bad stuff happens.
THE HEART
Pain
Guilt
Sorrow
IT’S SPECIAL
Life is a gift. Appreciate it.
Humanity and spirituality.
UNCERTAINTY
Clarity over certainty
Build in flexibility
Animated and directed for whatever is next.
TESTING
Natural flow of life, not by God
Take time to evaluate how you are doing
Purpose to make learning a lifelong habit.
Takeaway:
To cultivate wisdom, poise, resilience, humility and a perspective that can embrace all of it with dignity and peace.
Mystic MacNugget: “I’m so much more than the bad things that happen to me.” -Nightbirde

Hidden Mysteries

Hidden Mysteries

EPISODE-HIDDEN MYSTERIES
In this episode we’re going to talk about how true Christian doctrine and teaching is more universal than we have been led to believe. This can have a huge impact on how we view others, and in turn help us heal and encourage our broken world. Into the fire, once again, Stu…
Stu: “Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…
Comment on Facebook, email us, we want to more of your stories!
We are celebrating our 40th episode!
This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time, but now it’s out in the open. God wanted everyone, not just Jews, to know this rich and glorious secret inside and out, regardless of their background, regardless of their religious standing. The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple. That is the substance of our Message. Colossians 1:26-27, The Message
The Mystery.
“The Kingdom of God is at hand [within you!].
Start looking at salvation, death and resurrection as daily occurrences and not one-time events.
We share it and there is enough for everyone.
No one is excluded.
Why are these kind of mysteries/truths hidden? How are they revealed?
Not about religion but about humanity.
How does a higher thinking and a deeper understanding effect change?
Develop a more mature intuition, deeper wisdom, and sense of purpose.
Mystic MacNugget: “It just has to be about something bigger than ourselves. Else, why bother…” -Mac

The Setup
She went right on, “Why should I have to explain to people, ‘I’m a Christian, but I don’t think homosexuals are evil.... I’m a Christian, but I believe women are equal to men . . . but I’m concerned about poverty . . . but I care about the earth . . . but I don’t think people who believe differently from me will fry in hell for eternity . . .’?”
Affirmation 1: Walking fully in the Path of Jesus without denying the legitimacy of other paths that God may provide for humanity.
WE AFFIRM that the Path of Jesus is found wherever love of God, neighbor, and self are practiced together. Whether or not the path bears the name of Jesus, such paths bear the identity of Christ.
Affirmation 2: Listening for God’s Word, which comes through daily prayer and meditation, studying the ancient testimonies which we call Scripture, and attending to God’s present activity in the world.
The Bible is an incredible compendium of other people’s relationships with God that were recorded to help us know how to seek our own relationship with God. WE CONFESS that we have moved away from Christ’s Path when we have claimed that God’s Word is restricted to what may be contained in a written document or that either the recording of God’s Word in Scripture or our interpretation of it is infallible.
The Rule of Love
WE CONFESS that we have moved away from this Path whenever we have denied God’s love for all people or have denied the effectiveness of God’s eternal will that all be saved.
Affirmation 9: Basing our lives on the faith that in Christ all things are made new and that we, and all people, are loved beyond our wildest imagination—for eternity.
WE CONFESS that we have moved away from this Path whenever we have denied God’s love for all people or have denied the effectiveness of God’s eternal will that all be saved.
Mystic MacNugget: “If it’s irrefutable it’s domineering. Lighten up…” -Mac

The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing Part 1

The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing Part 1

In this episode we’re going to talk about Social Media. We’re going to do this over two episodes as there is SO much about this topic that we think needs to be fleshed out in order for us to do it just a little bit…wait, no..let me clarify that..this might have the possibility of moving the needle a lot! Uh oh, here we go, big-time strap in time this week, Stu…
“Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…
Comment on Facebook, email us, we want to more of these stories!
THE SETUP: THE WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING.
“Nothing vast enters the life of mortals without a curse.” — Sophocles
The challenges are twofold:
Content and interaction
Addiction
Mission statements: This is the intent. What is the actual reality? “Instantly media” instead of social media.
Facebook: “Give People the Power to Build Community and Bring the World Closer Together”
Twitter: “To give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly without barriers.”
Instagram: “To capture and share the world’s moments.”
Snapchat: “We believe that reinventing the camera represents our greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Our products empower people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together."
TikTok: “To inspire creativity and bring joy.”
Social Media...Good, bad, the ugly.
Taught us to not communicate well. Loss of social graces.
Undermines a life of order, harmony, and peace.
Less empathetic, breeds confusion and misinterpretation.
Resulting in more negative than positive outcomes.
We didn’t have the wisdom to incorporate it well into our lives.
Not our innate, normal way to communicate.
Hot trend is ephemeral content. Constantly chasing the squirrel.
Politics, race and religion are ripe topics for abuse.
The Triple Filter Test
Truth, goodness, and usefulness are the foundation of Socrates’ triple filter test. Socrates thought that a person must ask themselves the following questions before they say anything:
“Am I sure that what I am going to say is true?”,
“Is what I’m going to say a good thing?”, and
“Do I really need to say it and is it useful?”
Truth, goodness, and usefulness are the foundation of Socrates’ triple filter test. However, it’s not easy to define the true, the good, and the necessary.
Regarding the truth: Do I know for a fact that this information is true? Can I bet on it? Will I be able to prove it to anyone? Am I willing to compromise my reputation over this?
Regarding the good: Does it benefit me or the other person? Will it make them or me a better person and evoke positive emotions? Will the situation of those involved improve?
Regarding the necessary or useful: By knowing this message, will that person’s life or my life improve? Can that person take any practical action regarding this information or message? In what way does not knowing this information hurt or affect the other person?
Let’s forego the common.
Part 2 next week will offer some practical ways to navigate the social media universe.
Mystic MacNugget: “A better understanding is worth the temporary discomfort. You got this…” -Mac

Up and To the Right

Up and To the Right

In this episode we’re going to talk about the illusion of perpetual growth. What does that imbalance do to us? It can’t always be about MORE. This one might be a bit convicting, but it’s for your own good! Doing it a little better doesn’t always mean having just a little bit more… Uh oh, here we go, Stu…

THE SETUP
Perpetual up and to the right is an illusion. Growth is not negative, it’s in the expectations.
The struggle between more and enough. Where does contentment come from?
We have been conditioned that growth is the goal. The opposite is unacceptable.

Contentment. Not complacency. How we deal with crisis.

Birthing

EPISODE-BIRTHING
In this episode the Guyz talk about…how to do it just a little better! Most of us need some action steps that we can implement in order to make progress, so we’re going to offer some tips on growing and developing deeper wisdom. I know Stu, you are thinking how much I hate checklists! Yea, let’s strap in,
Stu…“Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…
Comment on Facebook, email us, we want to more of these stories!
THE SETUP: A process for “doing it just a little bit better”.
Stu’s “school” analogy.
Maturity. Insight does not result in understanding/application/wisdom
Who are the “midwives” in your life to help with this birthing process? A holistic relationship.
Wisdom Media
Wisdom literature: Bible, Koran, Plato, Teachings of Confucius, Vedic texts, Sutras, Book of Mormon, Course in Miracles
Non-fiction books/Podcasts: Science of Mind and Rosicrucian teachings.
Movies: Look for redemption themes. See the bigger picture. Snatch nuggets of wisdom.
Documentaries: The Secret, religious studies, Positive Mental Attitude studies.
Seminars/courses: GAIA, CAC, Rob Bell, Emergence Magazine, etc.
Tradition: Do not undervalue traditional evidence and practice. Let it have its place and its due honor.
Contemplation
Meditation
Liturgy
Family traditional practices
Reason: Be able to articulate truths from a logical, rational point of view.
Temper reason with mystery. Be ok with there being things we cannot understand.
Religion has often asked us to check our brain at the door. There needs to be a certain amount of plausibility.
Strive to remove as much bias as possible. Be honest.
Reasonable conclusions can shorten the leap to truths we need to take on faith
Experience: “There's a beauty to wisdom and experience that cannot be faked. It's impossible to be mature without having lived.” - Amy Grant
It’s hard to have reasonable assurance of something unless we have experienced it personally.
There is a “knowing” that only experience can give you.
Good Will Hunting example of The Sistine Chapel.
Builds credibility and confidence.
You need to be “experience-able” Get out of the bubble of comfort. Answer a “calling”.
Mystic MacNugget: You are pregnant with boundless possibilities. Push harder until you hear the cry of new life wrecking your old life. -Mac

The Light and Dark of The Law of Attraction

The Light and Dark of The Law of Attraction

In this episode we’re going to talk about The Law of Attraction. It’s become quite a fad, and has both positive and negative press concerning it. Is it a “Law”, or a self-fulfilling prophecy? Does it work? Is it real? How do you apply “wisdom” when attempting to tap into it? Yea, let’s strap in, Stu…
“Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…
Comment on Facebook, email us, we want to more of these stories!
THE SETUP
The law of attraction is a philosophy suggesting that positive thoughts bring positive results into a person's life, while negative thoughts bring negative outcomes. It is based on the belief that thoughts are a form of energy and that positive energy attracts success in all areas of life, including health, finances, and relationships.
The Law of Attraction is one [probably the best known] of the 12 Spiritual Laws of Universe.
20th Century Gurus: Norman Vincent Peale, Dale Carnegie, Og Mandino, Napolean Hill, Tony Robbins, Michael Beckwith.
2006: “The Secret” movie came out.
There ARE cosmic forces at work. How do we apply wisdom to them?
Likes attract? Not opposites? Is it the same as karma?
Tends to breed narcissism. It can be all about me and what I want.
Can ignore, and even demean, the shadow side of us.
Not seeking the outer but developing the inner.
Andy Stanley, “Are you the kind of person, the kind of per you are looking for, is looking for?"
It needs to be a flow. Emanation vs attraction.
How you think certainly affects your reality. It takes wisdom to do it better.
Mystic MacNuggets: Dads!
When does a joke become a Dad joke?: When the punch line becomes apparent.
Dad to kid (in a serious voice): A word of advice, kid. Never trust atoms. They make up everything.
Dad: I never thought I’d be the type to have a beard. But then it just grew on me.
Kid: Dad, it hurts when I move my arm like this. Dad: Then don’t move your arm like that.
Dad: I told my kids to embrace their mistakes, then they hugged me.
Is the refrigerator running? Better go catch it!

Unraveling

Unraveling

EPISODE-UNRAVELING
In this episode we’re going to take brokenness, unraveling and cracking in our lives and re-frame them as possible gifts. I know, hard to swallow the “lemons into lemonade” perspective in the midst of some awful stuff that can happen in our lives, but hang with us. We’re not going to make everything rainbows and unicorns. However, our attitudes have a big impact on how circumstances play out in our lives. With that teaser, let’s strap in, Stu…
“Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…

stu@wizeguys.life mac@wizeguys.life
THE SETUP
Can we acknowledge that unraveling, breaking, and cracking is a bearer of truth and even a gift? Perhaps the Spirit has been nudging and calling us to embrace a new imagination, but the other one had to unravel for us to see it for what it was. In this sense maybe the malaise of our lives has been the work of God. A life that has been humbled by disruption and decline may be a less arrogant and presumptuous. We may have fewer illusions about our own power and centrality. We may become curious. We may be less willing to ally with the empires and powers that have long defined us. We may finally admit how much we need the true power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. That’s a life God can work with.

Kintsugi: Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art.
LET’S BREAK IT DOWN:
Can we acknowledge that unraveling, breaking, and cracking is a bearer of truth and even a gift?

Doing it Just a Little Bit Better

Doing it Just a Little Bit Better

The guys dive into a conversation about how we need to apply wisdom to evaluating the effects of the past year. Using The Church as an example, the discussion encourages us to stop pointing fingers at "life" because the blame game keeps you in victim mode.
Lots of challenges have been faced, and more are to come. How can we "go to the other side" of our conventional thinking and apply wisdom to do it just a little bit better.

EPISODE-BARBARIANISM
In this episode we’re going to go rogue and call you to a life of barbarianism. A life that puts aside common sense because we don’t want a common life. It’s the core of who we are, and we want to share with you why we are so passionate about cultivating a perspective that goes beyond conforming to the norm and living with your head down. Scary…yea. Exciting…yea. Hard…yea, that, too. But, hey, this is what we are all about! Stu, it’s time to pop the bubble…

THE SETUP: TO BE A BARBARIAN (One who is “uncivilized”)
It’s a path filled with adventure, uncertainty, and unlimited possibilities. Stop conforming and start on a path of transforming.
TRAITS OF A BARBARIAN IS EXPRESSED IN MANY OF OUR MANIFESTO POINTS AND MACNUGGETS.
Going rogue in pursuit of wisdom.
Grow a pair [of wings] a little larger. Heads-up, you’ll start knocking shit over.
Set your sparks loose to ignite the lives of others. Live your life with your heart and eyes wide open.
Wize lives for the get-to.
Don’t stay faithful to the person you used to be.
Gets used to different.
Goes beyond what happens to what matters.
Shed the routine...go on mission.
SO HOW DO YOU BECOME A BARBARIAN?
Change your perspective. Be open to, and seek, new ideas.
Come to understand that there are almost always viable alternatives to your point of view.
Risk it. Try something new and abandon yourself to the journey.
Dare to think a new thought. If you wet your pants, then you are onto something.
Do it with like-minded people.
Shift from me to we and fight for the heart of humanity.
Seek a greater power to accomplish things far beyond your capacity. [Animated and directed by the Spirit]
Say NO to the lesser to make room for the greater. Shift your priorities.
Give your life greater meaning by shedding domestication.

You Might Be a Mystic If...

You Might Be a Mystic If...

In this episode we’re going to flesh out the idea of “the mystic”. It’s central to who we are and that we think cultivating an awareness of the “mysteries of life” is a definite way to do it [way] better! And, as always, our conversation will be roguish, as we weave in our core values and we’ll share a mystic MacNugget. Time for us to put on our cowls and journey into the grey…
Hey Stu…
“Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…

THE SETUP: WHAT IS A MYSTIC? EVERYONE!
When you know someone is industrious, studious, compassionate, loved by friends and neighbors, tolerant in religious views, and who can point out to you the magnificence and presence of God in the simplest of things…you have probably found a mystic. It just might be you!
TRAITS OF A MYSTIC
Industrious and studious.
Experienced the divine.
Compassionate.
Loved by friends and neighbors. A connection maker.
Tolerant in religious views. Non-dualistic.
One who can point out to you (articulate) the magnificence and presence of God in the simplest of things. Panentheistic.
Sees the oneness of all things. Stands in awe of life.
Cultivates a balance between our light and dark natures.
Trusts their heart knowledge.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
Embracing your mysticism frees you from the bondage of a life driven by your cognitive ability. “Or better” is really a possibility and not just an ism.
Teaches you to trust in a power greater than yourself.
It enhances everything.
Moves you beyond your old self. “What got you here is not going to get you there.”
WHAT CAN WE DO TO CULTIVATE OUR INNER MYSTIC?
Prayer, meditation, mindfulness.
Devotion to a higher power (God).
Study the mysteries.
Humanistic and faith based. Poets. Rumi, Gibran.
Serve others.

Dreams and Demons

Dreams and Demons

In this episode we elaborate on just how exotic a cocktail we are. Light and dark. It’s our nature to have this dualistic blend. We can’t help it. Question is, “How do we treat the dark?” Let’s go into the grey together and see what happens! And, as always, our conversation is roguish, as we wove in our core values, and we’ll share a mystic MacNugget. Off we go into the shadowlands…

THE SETUP: LEARN TO LOVE YOUR DREAMS MORE THAN YOUR DEMONS·
Angel/devil, Gollum/Smeagol, yin/yang (somewhat)
Loving both, just not to the same degree.
Identify both. What are your demons and what are your dreams?
Stop fighting the demons, you just give it focus and energy.

Going and Coming

Going and Coming

In this episode we’re going to enter the flow of how change happens in our life, specifically about how we need to regularly “clean house” to make room for new things. It can be tough because we get pretty attached to our “stuff”. We are all “hoarders” in one way or another, and most of the time don’t even realize how we do it and what the consequences of that lifestyle are. Reality tv time!
And, as always, our conversation will be roguish, as we weave in our core values and we’ll share a mystic MacNugget. Let’s unleash the flow…
Hey Stu…
“Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…
Please comment on Facebook, email us, we want to more of these stories!
THE SETUP: LET WHAT NEEDS TO GO…GO. LET WHAT NEEDS TO COME…COME.
Major thing to understand is that you are in control of this process. LETTING.
Realize that natural laws are at work. When you create space, it will fill. One way or another. Fill the vacuum.
This should be a constant flow in your life. Different degrees at different times of life.
Not just toxic things that need to go, but lesser things as well.
Examples: Your body: assimilation…circulation…elimination
Nature: Photosynthesis. The seasons.
POSSIBLE THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO LET GO…
Job(Ikigai concept)
Affiliations: Political, groups or hobbies.
Relationship(s)
Theology/Dogma/Traditions(!)
Limited thinking. Fear. Victimization.
Habits. Good and bad. Break the norm.
Biases/comforts.
Stuff. Simplicity.
The need for certainty.
The sense of urgency. Rest in the liminal space.
POSSIBLE THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO LET COME…:
New relationships
Breathing room
New truths/greater understanding and power
New habits
Mindfulness/meditation
A softer heart
Greater sense of peace
Poise
A life that is just a little bit better…

Deception

This episode is kind of going right for your solar plexus. Deception. Uh huh. Taking a long hard look in the mirror and wrestling with how we are not only deceived by the world, but how we are really good at deceiving ourselves. Several of our latest Mystic MacNuggets speak to this. Wonder how many of our roguers we lost already, Stu. Buck up gang and hang with us.
And, as always, our conversation will be roguish, as we weave in our core values and, as I said, we’ll deep dive into some mystic MacNuggets. Let’s unleash it…

THE SETUP-Deception. What is it, what are the sources of it, how can we do it a little bit better? Misplaced trust.
The World
Media
Advertising
Religion
Politics
People
Those with hidden agendas
Power struggles
Workplace
Close relationships and friendships
Ourselves-This is the “root”. If we get this right, then we lessen (not eliminate) the possibility of being deceived.
Maintain our biases out of fear. Fear of change. Fear that there is a different truth.
Lack of good judgement
As an escape route.
Hear what we want to hear. We lie to ourselves and often don’t even realize it.
Can we trust our heart/emotions/passions?
Laziness. We convince ourselves that we can’t change, simply don’t want to.
DOING IT A LITTLE BETTER INCLUDES:
Cultivating discernment
Extrinsic
Intrinsic
Your tribe of 5. Give them permission to call you out and speak the truth.
Examine your motives. Ask the “whys”.
Stop taking constructive criticism as a personal attack.
Stop trying to convince everyone that you’re right.
Quit doubting yourself. Cultivate wisdom so you can trust your instincts and feelings.
Mystic MacNuggets to consider:·
If everyone is thinking the same thing, then someone isn’t thinking.
Some things are just unimagineable. Be thankful that our hubris has limits.
Supersize your idea of truth
Even if you can’t set it right…see it right.
Diligence has an impish twin..avoidance. Dress them differently.
Trust yourself enough to break your own rules.-Tama Kieves

Happiness

Happiness

This episode is about a somewhat illusive concept called “happiness”. Many times, our pursuit of this is an adventure in missing the point. So, we’ll bring a bit of a counterculture (roguish!) perspective to cultivating a happy life. And, as always, our conversation will be roguish, as we weave in our core values and, as always, we’ll share a mystic MacNugget. Let’s strap in…
Hey Stu…
“Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…

Great Instagram stories this week!
Manifesto points to consider:
Wise evolves from me to we.
Wise measures effectiveness against faithfulness.
Wise Goes beyond what happens to what matters.
THE SETUP-Happiness. Basis for this discussion comes from an article in Thttps://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2021/01/checklist-achievements-happiness-boxes/617756/ (he Atlantic by Arthur C. Brooks,) entitled, “True success is more than checking boxes.”
Definition
A state of well-being and contentment.
A pleasurable or satisfying experience (life).
Bliss, joy, delight.
Beatles vs Rolling Stones: Wanting to hold your hand vs getting satisfaction. Ha! Should it even be about our happiness? My story about the “no”.
THE ISSUES
In our western society we are “checklisters”.
Accomplishment and ambition don’t drive happiness. It’s misbegotten to think so.
Birthdays are milestones to check our progress.
Scorekeeping makes us dependent on external rewards, and it sets us up for dissatisfaction.
Intrinsic and extrinsic motivations.
Relying on external rewards lowers satisfaction.
Why does happiness seem so elusive? Or is it?
If your happiness depends on an escalating list of worldly accomplishments, you might soon find that your fear of failure supplants your ambition.
THE SOLUTION-WHAT DOES BRING HAPPINESS?
WHO HAS INTRINSIC CHARACTERISTICS THAT I ADMIRE AND WANT TO EMULATE?
WHAT DO PEOPLE MOST NEED FROM ME, AND HOW CAN I PROVIDE IT?
WHAT IS MY LIFE’S PURPOSE?
Asking life’s “why” questions.
If you can’t say that you have a happy life, shoot for just some happy moments. String them together and amazingly you get a life filled with happiness.
Happiness comes from the illumination of your greatest virtues, thus showing the way for other people, and making visible to yourself your true purpose.

Wisdom

Wisdom

This episode is about our core. We are the WizeGuys, and our perspective is centered on wisdom , so, let’s get right down in it and ask some of the tough questions. And, as always, our conversation will be roguish, as we weave in these core values and, as always, we’ll share a mystic MacNugget. Let’s get at it…
Hey Stu…
“Namaste, all of you beautifully, exotic cocktails…

Manifesto points to consider: All of them in one way or another!
THE SETUP-
Wisdom:
The quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.
The soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment.
Synonyms: savvy, foresight, poise, clear thinking, enlightenment
Who might be considered wise from history or currently? Why?
Solomon
Jesus
Confucius
The Buddha
A church leader/pastor/elder
Mohamed
Rumi
Abraham Lincoln
Whitman, Thoreau, Will Rogers, Mark Twain, any today…?
Why should we want to cultivate wisdom?
Do we all have some amount of wisdom? Female gender in ancient texts.
Is it about age and experience?
Do we all have the ability to gain wisdom?
How do we cultivate wisdom?
It’s about an elevated perspective.
Two categories of wisdom:
Practical wisdom
Experiential-“Been there, done that.”
Common sense
Eclectic wisdom
Esoteric-mystical-enlightenment
Higher intuitive thinking and sensitivity.
Emotional intelligence.
The ability to assimilate divine ideas.
Foolishness in the eyes of the world.
Mentorship
Be wise Because:
We will make better decisions.
Life will be less…stressful.
Relationships will be better.Y
You will have more peace/better health/more fun!
Raise better families as we cultivate it in next generations.
It’s the remnants that have always under girded society. We need you to be one of them.

IT’S ABOUT THE ROOT, NOT THE FRUIT (Cause and Effect)
Mac tells the “Spiritual Gifts” story.
We need to learn to concentrate on the fruit-the effect of something more basic. Otherwise it's an adventure in missing the point.
If we get the root right, then these winsome, world changing character qualities appear like fruit in an orchard:
THE FRUIT:
Affection for others,
Exuberance about life.
Serenity.
A willingness to stick with things.
A sense of compassion in the heart.
A conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. (Namaste)
We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments.
Not needing to force our way in life.
Able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.

More.
If you live deliberately with less (reduce the number of variables in life), will that help you to do it just a little bit better? We say YES!
Life operates in an exponential way. For example: 3 choices = 6 possible
arrangements, 4 = 24, 5 = 120!
To refresh, here are the points we are covering. We did the first six in the previous episode.
De Clutter
Avoid the noise.
Keep only beautiful and useful things.
Let go of what you are used to.
Take a nap on Sundays.
Practice gratitude.
Stop rushing.
Prepare simple, home-cooked meals.
Appreciate nature.
Celebrate happy moments.
Spiritualize life.
Focus on fulfillment, not money.
Maybe the first way of simplifying is to cross off six of our twelve and concentrate
on the rest!
Deep Dive In This Episode
Stop rushing.

Don’t be the victim of your schedule.
Try being early.
Managing the overwhelm.
Prepare simple home-cooked meals.
Do it together (it’s better)
Simple is easier, less stressful, and unprocessed.
Keep a better handle on spending.
