BIG BANG Banter: Children's Podcast

This time on BIG BANG Banter, our BIG BANG Festival Ambassadors chat to Lisa Dowdall, a violist and member of the acclaimed Crash Ensemble. As part of our BIG BANG bubble online festival of adventurous music for children, Lisa worked with other members of Crash Ensemble on a project called Nomad: Invented. Over a series of workshops with 5th class students of St. Christopher's National School in Dublin, the children invented instruments and sounds from everyday objects, and used these to create new compositions. Finally, using the children's home recordings and video footage, Crash Ensemble’s videographer and sound engineer are editing have made a short film called 'Jungle Life' capturing their work.

As part of our BIG BANG bubble online festival of adventurous music for children, Fiona has teamed up with composer Irene Buckley to create a show called Soothe Songs, a playful and gentle online concert of new music and song for children aged 2-5.

This time on BIG BANG Banter, our BIG BANG Festival Ambassadors chat with award-winning Scottish performance artist, composer and cellist, Greg Sinclair. At our BIG BANG bubble online festival of adventurous music for children, Greg will be performing 'A Piece of You', a live intimate and interactive performance for a tiny audience; a private online concert for one or two children and their family. In these completely unique, once-off performances, Greg turns the audiences thoughts and feelings into a brand new music score using colourful and expressive graphic notation and then performs it especially for children and their families.

Our BIG BANG Festival Ambassadors are a group of children between the ages of 10 and 12 who are the eyes and ears of the festival every year. They advise us on the festival programme, interview artists, talk to audiences and introduce shows.

This year, they’ve been learning the ropes of podcast creation with the help of the team at Createschool. They have been researching their topic (music of course!), crafting crafty interview questions, thinking of fun features and learning to record and piece it all together.

The result is a fascinating new podcast for you to enjoy which captures their adventurous love of music and all things BIG BANG! Expect fascinating interviews, fun surprises and answers to curious questions!
