Episode 3: ISMISM

In this episode we engage with a post-show Q&A for Lotanang 'Loti' Makoti's play ISMISM, which premiered at Theatre Arts earlier in March. Caroline Calburn hosts the conversation between writer-director Loti Makoti, the cast of Oratile Ndimande and Lisa Tredoux, and the audience: we’re talking protest culture, George Floyd, theatre of the absurd, the limits of interpretation, Fees Must Fall, and what it means to stand.

ISMISM will be at the National Arts Festival, at the Gymnasium in Makhanda, from 28 June - 2 July.
Tickets are available at: https://nationalartsfestival.co.za/show/ismism/

ISMISM synopsis:
Two middle-class suburban adults are in a park preparing for a big protest. One is a white woman and the other a black man. Who they are as man and woman and black and white, respectively, along with a myriad of other obstacles, make their protest movement useless. They are too stuck trying to figure out who is to lead or who is the more marginalized, where they are being directed to, why they are even there, and ultimately what their cause is.
