Golden Nuggets of Patience with your Passion (feat. Vinny Amendola)
(00:12) Boutique Fitness = a community-like group exercise focusing on specific workouts. Vinny worked at Core Power at the Director of Operation for 8 years and become passion about what fitness does to an individual, so he decided to start up something a little bit different, ALTR Fitness. With more people participating in boutique fitness, Vinny asked his former co-worker, Kari Ament - exCOO of Core Power, to join forces. The experience of boutique fitness is the most important aspect. The small group of people with specific offerings develops into a tight niche market where workout members feel very comfortable. They choose Minneapolis because it was their hometown and they worked very closely with this market during their time at Core Power. The some what big city feel gives of more of a high-end vibe.  (04:15) Doing something RIGHT takes time. Especially when it comes to sharpening a concept. Vinny and Kari spent 6 plus months developing exactly what they wanted from Real Estate to who was training the workout members to the name of the facility. The training period took 3 months. This is extreme patience. ALTR was chosen because of the alternative approach to fitness and the crisp look of ALTR without the vowel. Vinny’s average quality is getting started, and Kari is the same way which was funny to reflect on. The fear of taking the first step is difficult, so Vinny tries to recognize his fears of being perfect all of the time to overcome the inability of getting started.  (13:40) Challenge yourself because you never know what’s going to happen. Declan wanted to start performing stand-up comedy, so he practiced for 6 weeks. Threw it all out the window a week before his big night and practices his newly formed bit one time in front of an Uber drive. He just got up there, and tried to forget the nervous because this might have been the most nervous he has ever been. Listen to this full version of this episode here.

S2 E44 - A Selfless Story (feat. Jay Louricas)
Jay's story starts when he was 12 years old and had his family torn apart by substance abuse. Going through the D.A.R.E program in High School, he felt that the messages were skewed and irrelevant. To fix this issue, he took matters into his own hands and started speaking to high schools in the area about his story and the impact of substance abuse in families.  Fast forward to the present day, Jay co-founded Addiction U with his college classmate Eric Martin. They won the University of St. Thomas Fowler Entrepreneurship Challenge in early November 2018 and are looking to launch their company in February 2019. Addiction U aims to support and children who are impacted by substance abuse of a family member through online storytelling. Follow Jay’s Journey here.

Golden Nuggets of Without Fail, Elevate (feat. Mark Metry)
(00:12) Mark Metry detailed how there is a serious integration of technology we are not even aware of. If you don’t have a plan for tomorrow. There’s an increased chance of feeling hopeless. Virtual reality has become the forefront of helping solve this problem. Example: Wal-Mart has VR headsets that train employees efficiently by learning thorough doing. The list of exponential technologies keeps progressing which means a bunch of different industries are being created at the same time. These technologies are being accelerated so fast that when they come together they actually accelerate faster. Example: the iPhone has a 20x fast processing speed than what the President had 15-20 years ago.  (08:50) The greatest people have the same insecurities and problems as you, but what they do is they DO IT any ways. Mark Metry’s average quality is EVERYTHING. Seth Godin described this to Mark, and it truly stuck with him and has motivated him to move and push forward consistently.  (11:20) What did we learn this week? (We’ve answer this treacherous question every podcast) - Declan - Humans have always had a knack for throwing things. Monkeys learned how to defend themselves by throwing. This evolutionary trait is pivotal in the sense of providing more safety, and eventually leading to Peyton Manning and Michael Vick. - Andrew - The evolution of The Backpocket from hunter and gathering to starting a fire to finding a water supply. We expanded Backpocket through small consistent steps. We say it all the time. Stay motivated marketing interns. - Sam - Misses summer. Really dude. That’s what you learned.
