Battle of Credentials: Lactation Counselor vs Lactation Consultant - 15
Lactation Counselor vs Lactation Consultant... I've seen Lactation Professionals excluded from continuing education training because... they're not International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I've seen IBCLC's call other Lactation Professionals dangerous and harmful or have heard them tell parents to only seek the advice of an IBCLC. Well, I'm here to clear the air and tell you what the difference is between an IBCLC & CLC. You'll be surprised to know they're not that different. *CORRECTION* CLC Training is 5 days. It just felt like a week*. Resources from the episode: IBCLC Scope CLC Scope Lactation Counselor (CBI) Scope What's The Real Difference Between a Lactation Consultant and Lactation Counselor

Music Therapy in the Perinatal Space with Christina Koenig - 12
Music Therapy in the Perinatal Space with Christina Koenig - 12
Today, Christina introduces us to how we can use music therapy during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. We touch on using music therapy to cope with anxiety during pregnancy, music therapy to cope during birth and using it in postpartum to process your birth.  About our Guest: Christina Koenig, MT-BC, Birth Doula Christina attended Shenandoah University where she received her bachelor of music therapy and she has been a board-certified music therapist for 3 years. In those 3 years, she's worked with people in hospice care, memory care, medical settings, and special education. Christina recently started doula work, having been trained through The Autonomy Mommy's doula training. She has completed a course on postpartum music therapy. As Christina learns more about doula work, she continues to see how the benefits of music therapy fit so well into the maternal health space! Christina is currently living in Richmond, Virginia (with her two cats) and they love it here! She loves the brewery scene in this city and being an hour away from the mountains allows her to regularly go backpacking, camping, and Overlanding! (some of my favorite hobbies!) Opinion: Why race doesn't matter when picking a provider - 08
Maternal Mortality is a huge concern and many lately have been focusing on Maternal Mortality rates among BIPOC women. There's been a huge push in having more BIPOC people join the medical field to help lower rates. However, when looking at the structure of medical school and health care system I believe that will not help the rates.
