The Bubbling Adventure

By Julie Pabion

Welcome to The Bubbling Adventure, the podcast all about kids and how positive education and conscious parenting impacts their entire life as well as society.
Each Thursday, we are having conversations with guests on different themes, and our aim is to have open discussions, share different points of view and learn in a non-judgmental way.
We address various topics such as raising gender neutral children, going back to work after giving birth, and being a role model. The goal is to give useful tools for parents and future parents to support their journey.
Thank you so much for listening!

Ep. 67: Feeling like the anxious parent with Christine Ko

Today we are talking about a subject that many of you will be familiar with… feeling like the anxious parent.

It happens to feel like we are overreacting, especially in a situation where authority bias affects the decision making.

Christine, who is a physician herself, as well as a mother who had to face other doctors who misdiagnosed her son is the perfect person to talk about this subject. She even wrote a book on how to navigate this type of situation in the most effective way and improve patient/doctor relationships.

Through her own journey, Christine discusses parental instinct, standing up for yourself or for the patient, the impact of toxic positivity nowadays, and gives us communication tips to avoid misunderstandings.

Find Christine:

Rachel tells us about her journey to become a cranial chiropractor, and how this preventative health measure does wonders for infants - as they experience a critical brain growth from 0-2 years old.

Ep. 61: Lessons from a nomadic childhood with Henzo Rashed

It is 7am, and I am sitting on the floor, chatting to Henzo from an Oasis in the Sahara.

You will be able to hear the cow mooing and the birds chirping throughout the episode - I hope it will allow you to travel as well!

Henzo has lived in many different countries since childhood (Germany, Turkey, the United States, Egypt, UAE, Oman… and more), and still lives a nomad lifestyle.

We talk about the importance of travelling, how his childhood shaped his character, how the eldest kid leads the way, and the importance of taking it one day at a time.

He also shares his views on the best values to pass down to kids, and healing our relationship with our parents.

Ep. 57: How to build confidence and self-awareness with Samantha Dholakia

Today we are welcoming Samatha, a coach who can help you bring your life together.

I learned so much from this podcast. It will definitely be useful for parents and future parents but it is really for everyone as Sam explains how to build confidence and self-awareness.

It starts with making the necessary changes to your mindset and spot the clues that will guide you on this journey. It will inspire you to put in place a buddy system, teach you why you lose your temper sometimes and how to raise your self-awareness.

What do you want the world that you are creating to look like?

How to use the way you feel as a check-in?

I would encourage you to take some notes as Sam runs us through a couple of very useful exercises.

So let us know how you get on by writing a review on Apple Podcasts, or you can find The Bubbling Adventure on Instagram.

Ep. 56: You were a baby once as well with Nicki Young & Helene Moore

Ep. 56: You were a baby once as well with Nicki Young & Helene Moore

Today we are welcoming not one but two guests! Helene & Nicki

It is the first time and it was really exciting - so do let me know if you enjoy this format (either write a review on Apple Podcasts or reach me on Instagram @thebubblingadventure)

This is an eye-opening episode on seeing things from both the mother and the baby’s perspective.

Indeed, Nicki is a certified Executive Coach specialising in maternity, while Helene is a Prenatal & Early Years Development Practitioner, so focusing more on the baby’s side. They will tell us about how they got together and how powerful it is.

They even answered my questions on why so many mothers change their careers after number 1/before number 2, and that it is not just because of circumstances.

We talk about the mother/baby relationship, and how every parent once was a baby, which means they actually have a lot of insights.

They explain what ‘matrescence’ is and how you can use it to your advantage by breaking preconceptions, build resilience and how finding resolution for what happened makes it feel easier.

Finally, you will learn how to give yourself a break and celebrate what you do!

Ep. 55: The best sleep schedule for kids with Jade Zammit

Ep. 55: The best sleep schedule for kids with Jade Zammit

Today, our special guest is Jade, who is an Infant & Child sleep consultant tells us everything we need to know about sleeping patterns!

We talk about the potential triggers to sleeping issues, learn about the best environment to put in place, how to find gentle solutions.

Jade also explains that, contrary to what we might be thinking, over-tiredness can build up and actually prevent kids from sleeping.

Where to find Jade:

Top things to look at for sleep challenges with little ones!

1. Sleep Environment - Dark, Calm & Comfortable.  Avoid blue/white night lights as they hinder the melatonin production needed for deep sleep! Amber/red lights work much better!  Consistent and safe temperature  Safe environment

2. Over-tiredness If you are seeing Fighting Naps/Bedtime Frequent Awakenings Shorter Naps Early Rises There is a high chance there is some over-tiredness happening. Early naps & bedtimes help, and keep an eye on wake windows!

3. Settle Approach - is there something that helps your baby sleep that they fully rely on for every wake? Do they have strong sleep associations? This helps identify where you can gently work on reducing this.

4. Toddler Challenges  - set clear boundaries and routines without deviation! They are so clever!

5. Ask for support & advice, don't suffer sleep deprivation alone! It is so fundamental for our little ones, and ourselves!

Ep 54. How to fight for the needs of your child with Gemma Louise

Today’s episode is for parents with kids that are struggling at school, whether they have a diagnosis or not. Gemma tells us how to support them, communicate collaborate with the school, follow up with teachers in an assertive way, and deal with the daily stress.

This is a very important episode. I don’t know if you remember how long a school year felt, when you were at school, or even a day. It really matters to them, so helping them early can make a huge difference.

If you know anyone facing these issues, please share this episode and recommend them to join Gemma’s group as it could save them months or years potentially, of suffering.

Gemma's Powerful Parent Project Group

 https://www.facebook.com/groups/186324667019354/?ref=share

She offers 1:1 Power Hour Sessions   https://www.subscribepage.com/h6u9k1

They are currently £99 per session.   For parents who want to know if their child is being supported enough in school, what their 'next step' may be for getting the support they need and to create an action plan to help move the process forward.

Today is also our last episode of the year! But not to worry, we will be back with a great one on the 6th of January. This way we can hopefully all enjoy our Christmas break, but if you have extra time you can always catch up on previous episodes! In the meantime, please join us on Instagram where I will be active everyday @thebubblingadventure

Ep. 26: What parenting is really like with Elisabeth Martineau

Ep. 26: What parenting is really like with Elisabeth Martineau

As far back as she can remember, the Canadian-born journalist Elisabeth Martineau has always taken great interest in birth, childhood, education, communication between parents and their children… When she became a mother herself over twenty years ago, in France, she experienced what most mothers encounter : an endless number of new questions about parenting and nowhere to find answers, as well as a great feeling of isolation and loneliness. In 2000, she co-founded an association “La Cause des Parents” to organise meetings and conferences for new parents.

In 2008, she started writing for the magazine “L’Enfant et la vie”, became Chief Editor in 2014 and bought the title in 2016 with her associate, Anne Bideault.

Loved this episode and how we got to talk about what parenting is really like: how hard the early years are, and then what is feels like when the teenage years start, but also more taboo subjects like blackmail or even spanking. It is very refreshing to hear about Elisabeth’s journey and advice.
