A Magical Island in Texas
Amy Shutt and Dr. Joey Hinton introduce Joey's project colleagues Dr. Kristin Brzeski of Michigan Tech ( https://www.brzeskilab.com ), the P.I. of the Gulf Coast Canine Project and her research partner and the P.I. of the North American Canine Ancestry Project Dr. Bridgett vonHoldt of Princeton ( https://www.northamericancanineancestry ). Join us as they tell the story of how a little magical coastal island in southeast Texas led to the current scientific study of the coastal canids of Louisiana who hold important remnants of the extirpated, and critically endangered, Red Wolf in their genetics. What could this discovery hold for contemporary conservation strategies of endangered wildlife?
