PLEASE, No ALL-STAR Parties In The A
Before we get into this week's film and music talk, can we have a little conversation about political leadership in the South? We're looking at you Keisha Lance-Bottoms and Greg Abbott! Our thoughts remain with the people of Texas as ATL braces for a (much less serious) sh*t storm.
On the music side of things, we're perplexed about this upcoming D'Angelo Verzuz and can't quite understand the need or need for secrecy behind the "and friends" part. Speaking of Verzuz, did the energy from 2 Chainz & Rick Ross' battle just spill onto NPR's virtual tiny desk? Also, Cardi B has broken yet another record and Childish Gambino has locked in another deal... and he's bringing Malia Obama with him. Yes y'all: Malia's getting ready to graduate college. Wrap your brain around THAT!

Let That Nas Release Date Breathe
Well, Hip-Hoppers: in case you were wondering, it's STILL a sabotage when Jay-Z drops something on a Nas release date because they're literally on the same project. This week the two legends deliver proof that they're still at the top of their game on the official soundtrack to "Jesus And The Black Messiah" - with Hov hopping on a posthumous Nipper Hussle track and Nas going back in to make magic with Hit-Boy.
This week we're also discussing the undeniable business savvy of Taylor Swift; how The Weeknd won the Superbowl... and OMG, WANDAVISION!!

Diamonds In My Face
Let's just go ahead and get this out of the way: what part of Philly cosigned THIS, Lil Uzi Vert??
Okay, sorry. Moving past the diamond in a man's forehead, this week brings us an official Coming 2 America trailer, which had Tai very excited... until Ciz started questioning the plot holes, lol. We're also talking Golden Globe nominations and how the diversity ain't as deep as they'd like you to think; new moves by Joe Budden, a new Nipsey film, an explanation from the Weeknd that literally no one even cares about anymore, and the dumbest man in UK radio.
Plus, we've got new music by Nore, Selena Gomez, JoJo, Brent Fyaz and Max B - who has clearly uncovered the Vybz Kartel prison studio power up.

But Y'all JUST Wanted Latinas To... Nevermind
Well y'all, Danileigh did a thing, as some of you already know. And Tai would like to use this opportunity to teach you kids a lesson about sneak dissin... and staying on beat. Mulatto, on the other hand is UNdoing a thing! And her statement about it is exactly the type of thing we love to see.
Plus, we have an update on Bobi Wine, Master P is highly upset about something that's BEEN in his power to change. And Logic tries to convince is that his alter ego is someone else.

Hot D*mn, It's A New Day!
Ding Dong, the crazy man's gone! But you knew he was gonna do some wild sh*t on his way out, lol! The new administration stepped in drippin' in unity and multicultural love and we are HERE for it.
Now that we can breathe a little on the political tip, let's talk Superbowl performances and random NFL x Verzuz partnerships! Plus, Cardi B is a leading lady and Pop Smoke's legacy expands.
We've also got new music by Ariana Grande, Da Baby, Smino, Zayn plus Macklemore + Robin Thicke tryna make comebacks???

"Buss It" Is More Than 4 Bars Long
Well y'all, we're coming up on 365 days without live shows! And while Dr. Fauci is telling us there's a light at the end of the tunnel - in mid- to late-fall - the numbers are on the rise again. And everyone from the Grammys to Verzuz are making adjustments.
We're also talking about Jazmine Sullivan's nearly perfect EP. And the two things everyone ELSE is talking about: Young Impeached Two-Times and the #BussItChallenge.

America Season Finale Recap
Clearly, 6 days was not enough time for America to get the BS of 2020 out of its system! So let's just get the convo about how these nut-ass domestic terrorists were allowed to move in DC on Wednesday.
Also, Ciz is intent on giving Eminem his flowers, Tai tells us about her first adventure on Messy Clubhouse, and Missy Elliot is tryna lie to us, y'all!

Stimmy On Deck
With less than 24hrs to go until 2020 is behind us (hallelujah!) Ciz and Tai are taking a look back at some of the great, surprising and downright disappointing releases from July to December. And there were quite a few of them... so the Chopping Block Podcast is closing out the year almost exactly how we started it!
Minus the optimism. Because people are still outsiding like we're not in the middle of a panceta.
But we ARE here! You've rocked out with us for 48 of the 52 weeks of this crazy year and we DO NOT take that for granted.
We will see you on 2021 when we've all arrived at the place where the money resides, Stimmy checks in hand! Happy New Year!!!

The Siege Is Over, Biddy-bye-bye
You know the end of the year is for revisiting all the music we've forgotten happened... not because it wasn't great. But because 2020. And so this week, Tai & Ciz are taking a look back at some of the music that dropped between January and June...
But first, let's take a minute to celebrate the new president and remind ourselves that this is just the beginning. We're also breaking down the difference between Lil Wayne selling his masters is a different conversation from Kanye wanting his back. Plus, new features on IG and the future of intellectual property.

Grammy Family Feud
Another year, another list of Grammy nominations... another list of disgruntled artists who have no problem voicing their discontent. Which is why Ciz is absolutely convinced that it's time for the Academy to create a ceremony dedicated solely to Black music. And honestly, as he and Tai go over the crazy nominations in the R&B categories, he may not be wrong... But what would that look like?
We're also talking about the record breaking Verzuz battle between Jeezy and Gucci Mane and all the new music that has us excited. [Due to some human and technical difficulties, this episode is coming to you a little late. Recorded in the ATL on 11/26/20]

T.I. Has Left The Chat... Expeditiously
Previously on "As The Rap World Turns," we were promised the return of Verzuz with a Battle for Atlanta Bragging Rights between T.I. and Jeezy. But somehow, as we continued to wait for the Toddle In Chief to take his L and go, the Rap Gods decided that rather than a matchup between The Kang and The Snowman, full of friendly banter and unnecessary SAT words were looking forward to drinking to, we will instead get a battle between Jeezy and Gucci Mane... and frankly friends: we're not quite sure what to expect. But we're here for it!
Plus we're talking cultural sensibility and Cardi B; street rules, Nipsey Hussle & Meek Mill; and the hierarchy of media outlets when your name is Megan Thee Stallion.
We're also breaking down new albums by 2Chainz, Future and Lil Uzi Vert, and Davido; discussing the wonder that is Lil Nas X, and talking to Rico Wade about the evolution of Goodie Mob from their first album, Soul Food, to their latest release Survival Kit.

My Favorite Hue Is Stacey Abrams Blue
What a time to be alive! Georgia and Pennsylvania turned Blue, effectively handing America it's first Black, first Female and first Asian Vice-President at the same damn time! This wasn't confirmed at the time of our taping, but it was suuuuure looking like we had cause to celebrate. Everyone except for Kanye West. Who shouldn't have been running for President anyway.
In the world of Tech and Music: what exactly does Spotify's new Discovery Mode feature mean and will it help or hurt indies? Also, Kid Cudi has launched a new platform to help fans and artists form deeper connections. Plus, music videos on Apple TV? Who knew??
Plus we're breaking down Busta Rhymes pretty amazing, albeit lengthy, 10th album Extention Level Event 2: The Wrath Of God and Arianna Grande's wonderful ode to healthy, young love, Positions.

A Birkin Free Space
Some internet conversations really just need to stay on the platform where they happen, lol. So we have designated this episode of the podcast free of Birkin Bags and Private Island vacations. What Ciz and Tai ARE talking about however is the return of Verzuz with a straight Rap Battle For Atlanta. And to celebrate the matchup between T.I. and Jeezy, we invite you to join us for a drinking game on Nov. 19th - details our IG.
Also, while Twitch and Amazon are still duking it out with the labels to figure out how to make the use of music on the platform work for everyone, a new company is coming in to help podcasters and others earn royalties from their VOICES, which is dope af to US for obvious reasons. Plus we're recapping a historic BET Hip-Hop Awards, looking forward towards the 2020 American Music Awards and wondering how Rolling Loud Europe ended up in Portugal - no shade, we just don't know much about Portugal's rap scene.
We're also talking new music by Ariana Grande, Jeezy, David Banner, Jermaine Dupri feat. The Entire World, SAINt JHN, Goodie MOB and more.

But Wait, There's More... (Ep. 42.5)
Soooo, BOOM: we're trying a little something different. As we play around with the format of this podcast a little bit, we thought: what if, instead of cutting out our actual conversations about new music, we just made that part of the show a bonus episode?
We're talking new singles by Kanye West, Dej Loaf, Ari Lennox, H.E.R., Deante Hitchcock and more. Plus upcoming releases by Ty Dolla $ign, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, 2 Chainz, and more.
Let us know how you feel about this new split format!

Africa Is Burning!
Look: we would be remiss if we didn't start this week off by discussing all that is happening in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Namibia and so many other places in Africa right now. And while we may not have all of the info, we do urge you to get informed and get involved if you can.
This week, we're also spotlighting NPR's new podcast 'Louder Than A Riot,' which explores the idea that there is some correlation between Hip-Hop music and mass incarceration. Also, the innanets are talking Verzuz Talk again! Remember when Tai said we needed to bring Busta's catalogue into that conversation? Well this week, he did it in a way NO ONE wanted. Now that the pending battle seems to be T.I. vs Jeezy, we're wondering: who COULD go against Busta Rhymes in a battle? You know what else we're wondering: why won't y'all put some respect on Aubrey Graham's name?? And lastly, is it time for the music industry to retire the "Deluxe Album" trend?
Oh, and we're trying something new this week: check out Episode 42.5 for our chat about this week's new music. And let us know what you think: should we keep the music separate from the discussions? Your feedback is always welcome!

Who Invited Uncle Rush To The Clubhouse?
Clubhouse is the new social media platform taking the music industry by storm. And while it has sparked more than a few really good conversations and has the potential to foster amazing collaborations, this week the app's users and developers learned that you GOTTA read the room... even when you CREATED the room. Plus, the whole Ice Cube controversy has Ciz and Tai talking about how ego can limit the good celebrities do in the political realm, regardless of their good intentions. Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion and Billie Eilish CONTINUE to win at using their platforms for good.
We're also talking Disney growing with the times, the amazing use of music in Lovecraft Country and new joints by OT Genasis, T.I., Trey Songz, Omarion, and Stevie Wonder; and the Hip-Hop Generation in its 40s.

We Don't Deserve Megan Or Rihanna
Episode 40, for real this time. LOL
This week's episode is a little shorter than most, but it's packed with all types of good topics and conversation covering this week in Music - from the respectability politics that stopped y'all from truly appreciating the magnitude of Megan Thee Stallion's SNL protest/performance; to Rihanna's cultural faux pas and victory on the representation front.
We're also talking Red Table Talk expansion, new Atlanta-centered, Hip-Hop focused TV projects, Spotify's new album charts and how McDonald's keeps trolling us with these celebrity meals.
Plus, new music by Ella Mai, THEY., A$AP Ferg, Lil Wayne and Lil Duval; Travis Scott's chart topping song gets a remix and Machine Gun Kelly makes history for himself AND Bad Boy Records.

Who You With?
Let's go ahead and get one thing out the way: the friend of my enemy - whether that enemy is white supremacy or tiny singing Canadians - CANNOT be my friend. Be clear about which side you're on.
On to the good stuff: this week we're talking about the long awaited changes that are starting to take place in the music industry, as we celebrate the relaunch of Loud Records. Twitch is getting is giving creators access to the use of music. TikTok most likely isn't going anywhere. And it's music awards season... and the Latin Grammys have done a total 180 from last year.
Plus we've found the Grown Man R&B we were looking for! Along with new music by Ari Lennox, Koffee, Girl Talk & Bas, and Vin Diesel? Yup: THAT Vin Diesel. And it's not half bad.

Chicago BBQ Chicken
This week's episode is unofficially sponsored by Chicago as a cultural entity, lol. Following last week's rant, which saw Kanye West bring out the best of the Twitter Law degrees, Yeezy actually unveiled his plan for what reforming the music biz should look like. And as Boogie asks questions and Ciz breaks it down, it actually doesn't seem to be that bad of a plan. But can the recording industry really adapt these types of wide-reaching changes?
Elsewhere in the Chi, Lupe Fiasco reminded us this week of just how ridiculous stan culture can be when he made a not-necessarily-untrue statement, and people who clearly never listened to Lupe or know how big of a deal he was when he stepped on the scene started talking out of the sides of their necks.
Plus we're talking about the re-release or first release of the original Carter V by Lil Wayne, almost 10 years after it was originally supposed to come out; some dope opportunities and programs, including Converse's All Star mentorship program.
Also, who is making R&B for Grown Men in 2020? And How the hell has a Yelawolf x Machine Gun Kelly collab never happened before 2020?

Everest College Law Degrees Pt. 2
Well friends, we've had pull out our Everest College Law Degrees again, because Kanye and his very spot on complaints about the music business... even if the message was muddied by his Kanye-ness and the fact that his particular deal was nowhere near as unfair as he'd like you to believe. Still, this is a convo we've had a couple times already this summer, and this week Ciz and Tai are talking next steps to start working towards a solution.
Also, 50 Cent promptly went back on his word. McDonald's clearly underestimated Travis Scott fans, and Nicki Minaj scores a big win for Music Creators.
And we're talking new music by Alicia Keys, T.I., Ludacris, Justin Bieber, Brittany Howard, Rick Ross and more.

Stuntin' 101
Once upon a time, G-Unit was on top of the rap world. Now 50 Cent wants to act like it never happened... That Colorfully Coifed Rappin' Canary wants to act like Nicki Minaj isn't the reason he had a #1 record for 2.3 seconds... And y'all wanna act like that Keeping Up With The Kardashian run isn't worthy of applause.

Give Brandy Her Things/How Do You Ruin Ashanti?
First things first rest in peace Chadwick Boseman. For real. This is a very irreverent show, and you know Ciz and Tai try to keep things light... mainly for their own pandemic sanity. But this one touched us, as we're sure it did you.
Brandy and Monica gave us an amazing show of talent on the most recent Verzuz battle, and stan culture almost ruined it for us. Plus we gotta give it up for Joe Budden for the way he spoke up about his Spotify situation... even if some of you still think he's wrong for walking away from his deal. We're also talking 'OnlyFans Tourism,' hella new R&B from Jazmine Sullivan to Tweet to SZA, the unique talent that is RMR and what may have been a lost opportunity, the NOT so unique sound Bryson Tiller created, only to let tons of others take it away, and the importance of Travis Scott.
Plus: HOW do you ruin Ashanti? Joyner Lucas.

Magic City Is Black Love
One time for the premiere Black-owned business that is Magic City and the wonderful entrepreneurs that business employs. We heard someone had something to say about this fine establishment and wanted to show our support without bringing more light to the idiot.
And one time for Nasir Olu Dara Jones for delivering yet another addition to the growing list of impeccable Grown Man Rap albums we've received over the last 5-10 years. Hit Boy gets his very own shoutout to because he is having a MOMENT. And the attention is well deserved.
One time for Pharrell Williams and the iAmOther team for the amazing work they did with that "Black Entrepreneur" video.
We're also talking about why the NBA's less-than-24 hour boycott matters, the reason so many big name producers are selling their catalogs lately and new music by Big Sean, Mariah Carey, Raheem DeVaughn, B.o.B. and Cordae.

Holding Space For Kylie Jenner
The internet sure does love lobbing hate onto Kim Kardashian and her siblings! And now look: Kim Kardashian is about to free C-Murder! Also, this episode is dedicated to those spending time on Jay-Z conspiracy theories when you could just support Nas and go. RZA is revolutionizing ice cream trucks, Spotify is launching all types of personalized, interactive things, Of COURSE Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi broke all the records + Meg finally confirmed what we all pretty much have known from the beginning... well most of us. Cuz some of you wouldn't believe that girl til she showed you her bullet wounds. SMH.
We're also talking new music by Drake, Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Ricky Reed, Jack Harlow, Earthgang, Dave East and The LOX. And let's give Jaden Smith ALL of the things!!

Let That Chick Breathe
Yeah... we're not exactly sure why anyone is mad at WAP either. But this week, Ciz and Tai have a few words of advice for people who complain about the absence of new good music without actually looking for new music. And people who complain in general. And people who think they can dictate how bi-racial people classify themselves.
Also, did the Rick Ross vs 2 Chainz battle even really happen? Are Young M.A. and Dave East basically the same artist? And how come the majority of artists on this year's XXL Freshman List feel like they're 1st year grad students?
Plus we're talking new music by Conway and Method Man, IDK, Guapdad 4000, Smoke DZA, TeaMarr, Mach Hommi, Burna Boy. And Ciz explains his love/hate relationship with Nas.

Bow Down/Been On
It's like a tale of two pandemics: while NYC venues are trying to convince the government to offer some financial relief so they can have a fighting chance of reopening, ATL is applying the SUPER tax on consumers. Also, now that Snapchat and Instagram are chasing that TikTok high, what should Music Creators be doing or at least be aware of to protect their content. And JUST in case MRS. Carter hadn't schooled you enough (yes, let's talk about ingratitude), MR. Carter is now literally giving you a college education.
We're also talking new music by Toni Braxton, Method Man, Machine Gun Kelly, Da Baby, Armani Caesar, Flo Milli and eagerly awaiting that new Cardi and Meg.

30 For 30
First and foremost, what we're not gonna do is disrespect the Southside rap gawd Tity Two Necklace! And we're not just saying that, Ciz and Tai have facts and receipts to prove that there's no WAY Rick Ross blows 2 Chainz out in next week's Verzuz battle. We're also talking about the HUGE TWO-WAY FLEX that lands a Beyonce film on Disney, but also basically allows Beyonce to make her own version of The Lion King, but make it a whole Black Parade! We also wanna put our #CreatorFam on to some opportunities in the film world.
And y'all, and by "y'all" we mean Hip-Hop: we really need to have a come-to-Jesus moment about the way we be letting this antisemitism fly. And by "we" we mean y'all!.
Plus we're talking new music by Jorja Smith, A$AP Ferg featuring an Onika we can actually enjoy, Mulatto, Maroon 5 and more.

Also, since Ciz gets the inner workings of this business better than most, we're breaking down the new deals between TikTok & the NMPA, Spotify & Universal, and Triller & Billboard.
On the new music tip, we're tryna understand why the deluxe version of Pop Smoke's Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon is a thing in THAT format; we're talking Khaled's new Drake singles; new joints by Jaden Smith, Koffee, Jhene Aiko, Too Short, The Gorillaz and more and taking a look at this week's new releases.

No Country For Industry Scammers In 2020
Y'all: how are scammers still a thing in Hip-Hop? And how is Akademiks still here? And how could anyone who claims to work in this business question Freddie Gibbs' relevance in the game? Also: is Yeezy back? CAN he come back?
What three rappers are poised to own the next decade? And if we took J. Cole out of the "Drake x Kendrick x Cole" conversation of the last decade, who could we legitimately replace him with? The criteria are: 1) lyrical ability/rap skills; 2) cultural impact & 3) commercial appeal. And while we're here: have the last 20 years produced less classic material than the previous 20?
These are just some of the many questions Ciz and Tai are tackling on today's episode, fueled and sponsored by that first coffee of the day, lol. Plus we're talking new music by Ty Dolla $ign, Toni Braxton, Big Boi & Sleepy Brown, Boog Brown and more.

Motherland Drip
The creative genius that is Blue Ivy Carter gifted the world with a new Black power anthem of joy, penned by both of her parents ON Juneteenth. And still, f**kery abounds in the world.
So Ciz and Tai had plenty of other things to talk about this week: from the music industry's disjointed front and possibly out-of-touch goals; to the double-edged sword that is tone policing, thanks to No Name and J. Cole. We're also talking about the evolution of Guwop, the return of Weezy, the gift that is Teyana Taylor and... City Girls' new album?

Are you not entertained? ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED? Did you not ask for J. Cole to jump into the protest playlist. Well, he pulled up this week, and Twitter isn't pleased. Which leads Tai and Ciz to a conversation about freedom of speech and differences of opinions. Plus, we're taking a look at the mass adaptation of Juneteenth, talking about the real protest songs that have emerged and why Lil Baby's voice is necessary and the importance of voting and what The Roots are doing to get you to the polls this November.
Also taking a look at new singles by T-Pain, Da Baby, Buddy, Usher and Cee-Lo and gearing up for this week's new albums, including Teyana Taylor and the only 23-track album Tai is actually looking forward to.

Havin' A "Jordan" Moment
"Not only is the revolution HERE, but we're seeing results. From legislation to social media campaigns, to weird-ass flexes (We're looking at you, PornHub), where change is definitely coming. As we pondered, what's next, AWAL A&R Eddie Blackmon got some of the most respected A&R's of our generation together to talk about how the music industry should address its internal systemic racism.
We picked up some jewels from that convo, courtesy of Chris Hicks, No ID, Sha Money and Kyambo "Hip-Hop" Joshua. Plus we're talking Billboard firsts and this week's protest music.

Let's Get Free
“If I lived in China, or even Russia, or any Totalitarian country…maybe I could understand some of these illegal Injunctions. Maybe I could understand the denial of certain basic 1st Amendment privileges, because they haven’t committed themselves to that, over there. But somewhere I read, of the Freedom of Assembly. Somewhere I read, of the Freedom of Speech. Somewhere I read, of the Freedom of Press. Somewhere I read, that the greatness of America is The Right to Protest For Right! And so just as I say we aren’t gon’ let any dogs or water hoses turn us around, we aren’t gonna let any injunction turn us around!” - Martin Luther King Jr.

Savage
We finally got the Verzuz Battle we deserved, courtesy of Jamaican internet. And then Jagged Edge and 112 brought us back to the struggle. And the question: can we elevate this thing once and for all? Also, while we're on Instagram, let's talk about this ongoing conversation about copyright infringement and shutting down the DJs.
Elsewhere in the music world, Future, Beyonce, and Meg the Stallion all hit career milestones this week, Polo G had an impressive second week. All kinds of Deluxe editions are coming. And we're talking new music by Ludacris, Big Boi, French Montana, the middle brothers of Slaughterhouse, Gunna, The 1975 and Young M.A.

Reggae Air Horns
Each week, Tai's been really reluctant about talking about the ongoing Verzuz battles, while Ciz has been holding us all down, watching each battle for the sake of our convos. Well, Ring The Alarm! The Soundclash we all deserve is finally coming! As we lead up to the upcoming Beenie Man vs Bounty Killer battle this weekend, we're discussing Nelly's fail against Ludacris and all the other preposterous ideas being thrown around.
We've also got chart and RIAA talk, and new music from Tory Lanez, AZ, Snoop Dogg, Anthony Hamilton, Lloyd, and more. Plus we're breaking down Future's latest album, High Off Life, and taking a look at next week's releases.

Black Excellence, Opulence, Decadence...
The beginning of this week was nothing less than a roller coaster, all centered around Black Excellence. Just hours after all of the Black Girl Magic of Shea Butter Twitter manifested into the highest viewed Verzuz battle thus far - between Jill Scott & Erykah Badu - we learned of the untimely death of iconic music mogul and pioneer Andre Harrell. The news of his death was quickly followed by the passing of legends Little Richard and Betty Wright.
Then hours after that, we learned that, for the first time in the one hundred year history of the Billboard Hot 100 charts, four Black women are holding the top spots. This week, Doja Cat became the 8th female rapper to ever reach the No. 1 position on that chart with the "Say So" Remix. And somehow, after over 100 entries on the Hot 100, this song also became Nicki Minja's first No. 1! Beyonce's addition to "Savage" brought the song and Megan Thee Stallion to the No. 2 spot. Elsewhere in chart news, Nav and Khelani are expected to top this week's Billboard 200 list., with albums that both make an appearance on our Credit Check this week. Just in case you needed a reminder that it's never too late to make your mark.
We're running through new singles by Lloyd Banks, BROCKHAMPTON, Buju, Daniel Caesar, and confirmation that Takeoff IS the best of the Migos. Plus we're discussing new and upcoming releases from Larry June & Cardo, Deante Hitchcock, and Future.

Ight, Imma Head Out
Ok, we're now entering month three of this lockdown. It's time for a shift. As the Verzuz battles shift in a direction we're not quite sure about, Ciz and Tai are looking ahead at a few other ways in which artists and creatives are connecting with fans and getting the art out! Also, we've got some not-so-surprising facts about Disney and music streams.
Plus, Drake back or whatever. And one of our hosts is less than impressed. Can you guess who? We're also talking new music by Chris Brown, Jojo, Machine Gun Kelly, Khalid, and more.

TikTok Revival b/w The Art Of The Remix
Beyonce gave us a rap verse on a true Megan Thee Stallion remix. That's it. That's the whole show.
Of course that couldn't be the whole show, but it brings up a great conversation about real remixes, the power of TikTok and the importance of rappers as songwriters. Also there's a wave of new albums coming, a few favorites have been re-released, and the industry is showing signs of moving past the quarantine.
Also, as always, we're talking about this week's new releases including a TDE multipack, new EPs by Terrace Martin, Stalley, Tek and more. And all the new albums you should be on right now.

This Is A Journey... Into Sound
For literally an entire month, Ciz and Tai have been screaming that these epic Verzuz battles need to happen on something other than Instagram Live. Ciz has been imploring Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and whoever else is behind the scenes on these things to set some king of technical requirements and guidelines. Did anyone listen? No! And now just look at Teddy Riley's legacy, lol!
We weren't going to start the conversation there, but the announcement of a pending battle of iconic mixtape-era freestyles between legends DJ Doo Woop and Tony Touch and whispers of a Dr. Dre vs Diddy battle got us excited. We're also talking about Spotify's groundbreaking move to help artists crowdsource funds and the indelible way in which TikTok has changed music creation and promotion forever.
Plus, we take a look back at last week's new releases by The-Dream, DVSN, Fiona Apple, Westside Gunn and Da Baby. Plus our thoughts on this week's new tracks by Kelly Rowland, Buju Banton, Stalley, Hopsin, and... Desiigner??? Yup.

"Hip Hop Won The Battle - Part 2"
After a good conversation about the week's current events and the epic Verzuz battle between DJ Premier and RZA in part 1 of this week's episode, Tai and Ciz turn their attention to new releases. We're chopping up Tory Lanez' The New Toronto 3, and talking about the new projects by The Strokes and N.O.R.E that somehow flew under the radar.
We're also breezing through some of this week's new singles, including new music by DVSN, Snoop Dogg, IDK, Bryson Tiller, The Jacka and more.

"Hip Hop Won The Battle"
Well guys, we don't want to keep beating a dead horse or telling you the same things everyone else is telling you. You already know the vibes.
Organizers are still slowly making the decision as to whether or not they can move forward with their planned 2020 events and the good folks behind the Lovers & Friends Festival are still keeping hope alive. Meanwhile, you parents are driving streaming numbers up in your efforts to distract your babies.
Of course you know we can't talk about this week's events without discussing the epic Verzuz battle between DJ Premier and RZA. And Ciz and Tai being 80s Babies and advocates for music creators, that conversation was bound to be a long one.
Make sure you check out part 2 of today's episode for our reviews of last week's new albums, this week's new singles and a look forward at this week's releases.

Nope Still Inside
Ladies and Gents, IG Live is still king of Corona Szn. And this week, T-Pain and Lil Jon won Instagram. Yet the fun vibe and good humored-nature of their online battle isn't spreading to everyone, and Rodney Jerkins is big mad.
Also winning IG is Tory Lanez, who outside of one awkward "hits" battle with French Montana, has been giving his fans everything but music. Including *ss and t*tt*es. Which means Instagram is now watching his page super heavy.
We've got new music to discuss by everyone from Thundercat to Drake, Toni Braxton to BOSCO. Plus, we're discussing this week's upcoming releases... this may be a good time to catch up on IG Live.

No More Parties In LA
Alright folks: looks like we're stuck in the house for a couple more weeks. And we're happy to be doing our part. And even happier that we have a bunch of options that help us continue to bring the podcast to you every week. If you have some feedback or some ideas for us, please let us know!
In the meantime, DJs Live All The Time has now become Producer/Songwriter Battles. And we love to see it. Here are our thoughts on the ones we've seen so far - Dream, Sean Garrett, Hit-Boy Boi1Da, Ne-Yo, Johnta Austin, Scott Storch and Mannie Fresh. And we've heard what battles are coming next, but we still have a few we'd like to see.
Plus, we're talking new releases by PARTYNEXTDOOR, Jessie Reyez, Dua Lipa and Jeezy. And upcoming release by Thundercat and more.

Why Are You Outside?!
Well, folks: we were already limiting our outings to things that are absolutely necessary, and for our lives that means recording this podcast. But, our fine ass mayor, Keisha (yes, really. If you didn't know), said the city of Atlanta has to stay at home. So Cizz and Tai are bringing you today's episode from their respective homes.
Plenty to talk about, from IG Live overload to last week's releases - including dope new music by J. Balvin, The Weeknd and TokiMonsta - to the mystery of the album formerly known as Donald Glover Presents... and Akon's under the radar 2019 releases. Plus we've got new music to talk about from Fred The Godson, Termanology, Slim Thug and Young Chris. Yes, it is 2020.

We'll Name This Episode Later
Before we can even get into this conversation, Ciz and Tai had to jump right into an analysis of rap's resident old man, Joe Budden, and the reason he's mad at... pretty much everything. Of course, this week that includes Jay Electronica's long-awaited debut album A Written Testimony. And if you've heard the album, it should come as no surprise that Joey's not the only one whose feathers were ruffled by this Jay-Z-assisted drop.
Oh, by the way: we heard the Donald Glover Presents... album. And loved it. And wanna tell you all about it.
Plus: Lil Uzi Vert gave you two different albums with the same name, and y'all loved all 40+ tracks. And if you would have told us Jhene Aiko would be the first female R&B artist to reach a Beyonce/Lemonade milestone, we would have called you a liar. But here we are.
Also, new music by Guapdad 4000, Teyana Taylor, Kash Doll, and, though we're not sure why, Dave East, Ace Hood and Troy Ave too. And lastly: the latest episode of the Khelani/YG soap opera is out and it's called "Toxic." We can't make this up.

Can't Stop, Won't Stop - The Roc and That Rona
Just when you thought 2020 couldn't get any more ridiculous, the second week of March happened. Of course, like every outlet in the world right now, we're talking about COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, and the many ways it's fucking with the festival world's money.
Also, we salute Roc Nation which, just two weeks after turning music-biz-expert Twitter upside down, not only managed to give us Meg Thee Stallion's latest EP, Suga; but also seems to be making good on the promise of a Jay Electronica project, which we now know is called A Written Testimony. It's really happening, y'all. Like next week!
Plus, we're talking new albums by Lil Uzi Vert, Jhene Aiko, Jadakiss and upcoming releases by everybody and they damn papi on this coming Friday The 13th.

Everest College Law Degrees, Now Available On Twitter
Welp: apparently, we've been sitting on Twitter all this time, not realizing that our entire timeline is comprised of entertainment attorneys and contract lawyers. It's not of course, but this week Ciz (@Cizzurp215) and Tai (@SaintBoogie) examine the most absurd thing that happened in a week full of absurdities: the breakdown of Megan Thee Stallion's contract with 1501 Certified Entertainment, even though none of us have seen the contract yet.
Also trying to make sense of the whole RMR "Rascal" blip that had us all talking at the top of the week; Bad Bunny's amazing new record breaking album, new Princess Nokia, G Herbo and Lil Baby and new singles by J Balvin, Davido and more. We're also looking forward to this week's new releases by Jhene Aiko, The Weeknd, Hot Girl Meg, of course, and Lil Uzi Vert, whenever he finally decides to bless us.

NPR-Level Rap Chats Featuring Producer Royce Da 5'9"
We cannot stop saying great things about The Allegory, the new album produced entirely by Royce Da 5'9" for Royce Da 5'9". Tai got a chance to talk to Royce about the project and his new journey as a producer, which we're sharing with y'all in this episode. We're also talking new releases by Kodi Shane, Kamiyah and of course, BTS - since Cizz uses fatherhood to hide the fact that he's highkey #BTSArmy.
Plus: news on new music by Phony Ppl, how we're gonna lose SZA to the Country Club, D. Wade's submission for new rap artist of the year and a look at this week's upcoming releases.
P.S. - New Jay Elec in 20 days. Allegedly. We hope.
