The first thing you need to know about the Gospel is that it’s GOOD NEWS - news of what Jesus has already done for us. We no longer have to try and live better lives for Him, we hear His Word and it changes us.
As believers we are not under the Law but under Grace. It is important that we sometimes read through or hear these scriptures again because it brings to light and corrects certain mindsets that we have.
The prodigal son took his inheritance and spent it apart from relationship with the Father, the elder son also had an inheritance but did not know the Father's heart. We need to abide in the Father's love and live in relationship with Him.
We need to look forward and leave the past behind, receive the forgiveness of God. He who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the kingdom of God. The kingdom is God's authority manifested on earth. For us to be effective in the kingdom we need to look forward.
We should never get to a place where we "know it all". Every time we come to the word, we can read it as if we never have and from that place comes true revelation. We need to explore our true identity in Christ and as we do, the world around us will benefit.
When we get born again, we receive a new life; that means that some of our relationships will change and others will simply stop. We embrace a new life and lay down the old, but the new is so much better than the old.
Jesus invites all who are weary and heavy laden to come to Him and to find rest. His yoke is the calling and assignment that God has given us. Doing the works of faith and not trying to fulfill the law.
The words that Jesus speak carry an impartation of His presence. The one who will reveal the mysteries to us is Jesus. It is not only about the content of the message, but rather the anointing that rests on the words.
All of your sin is like a drop in the ocean of God's grace. The way we live in freedom is by receiving grace. The way we receive grace is by not relying on our works but rather having faith in the cross of Jesus.
Who we forgive on earth will be forgiven. We can so yield to the Spirit of God, that when we speak the word of forgiveness over people they are set free. The Holy Spirit was poured out upon the household of Cornelius as Peter preached the word of forgiveness to them.
When we receive Jesus as our saviour, we are made new, the old man dies and we are born again. Baptism is not a seal of the covenant as many believe - it is not scriptural at all. Jesus completely fulfilled the old covenant and now we have received a new testament by faith.
You have been bought with a price, you are not your own. When we are born again, we are set free from sin and become slaves of righteousness. Now we have the choice to surrender to freedom. Freedom is a person, Jesus is freedom.
We need to place ourselves in a ministry and around people where the Holy Spirit speaks because the traditions of men make the Word to no effect. God wants us to hear His voice, He can speak to us in many different ways. Today ask the Holy Spirit what He wants to say and listen to His words.
A message Gerrit Grobler preached at Spirit Word Ministries in 2013.
These are episodes from The Christ Life, a broadcast that we had on the Spirit Word Channel from 2009 - 2016. These messages were broadcast all across Africa and some other nations.
There is a place in Christ where we can live, the Holy of Holies. We have access to this place by the blood of Jesus and His body that was broken for us. It is by abiding in this place that we are refreshed and revived.
The only way we can see signs, wonders and miracles is by grace. If you see a preacher functioning in miracles, don't be too critical of their methods if they are seeing results. We are not under the law, we are under grace.
Jesus said that He does only what the father does, we can now enter the Holy of Holies by faith in the blood of Jesus through the veil that was torn which is His flesh. As we abide in His presence, we see what the Father is doing and we act accordingly.
We are built upon the foundation which is Christ. Now if we build, let us build with gold, silver and precious stones and not with wood, hay and stubble. Let us build with the love and forgiveness of Christ and not with the law and condemnation.
