Civ 6 Historian, Andrew Johnson, Tells Us How Firaxis Develops New Leaders and the Importance of History in Today's Society
Andrew Johnson helps write everything for Civ 6. He writes things like Sean Bean's voice lines, to the things that are included in the civilpedia. Andrew brings us great insight into how the abilities for some leaders are chosen and how they're influenced by the history of the leader.

June Mod Month - Governor Overhaul
We started our month of mods with a wonderful Governor Overhaul mod. This mod completely reworks the governors by adding 12 governors, each specializing in a specific mechanic from Civ 6 (Production, Spies, Food, Science, etc.).

We came up with a Game Master mode for Community Month | June is Mod Month
We had an entire month of community games, and we came up with a fun way to have more control on the competitiveness of the game. After the first week, we saw a runaway victory and had to rethink how we can ensure everyone has fun. We introduced a "Game Master" that spectates the game, asks trivia questions, and creates rewards to the winner of the trivia.

We play a 3v1 against Peppermint_Butler and Zo killed him twice!
One of the redemptions for TheCivGive2022 was to host a 3v1 against Civilization 6 legend, Peppermint_Butler. This time, TheCivShow crew did not go easy on him. Early in the game, Zo declares war on PB and murdered him. We play a second game, and Zo spawns beside PB again, and murders him again! How did he do it?

Retro Civ Month: Civilization 5 - Hexagons are the bestagons || Predicting the abilities of the Rulers of England
This March, we'll be playing through all the old Civilization games that are available on steam. Civilization 5 was another big turning point in the series that introduced HEXAGONS! They also introduced social policies into governments allowing players to mix and match how they pleased, and they took away the infamous unit stack. A lot of people still play Civilization 5 today and claim it to be better than Civilization 6 (for the record, we disagree and will always prefer the newest edition of Civilization).

Retro Civ Month: Civilization 4 - The Last of the Old Civ || Predicting the abilities of The Great Builders Pack from Civ 6
This March, we'll be playing through all the old Civilization games that are available on steam. Civilization 4 was a big turning point in the series that properly integrated multiplayer. It was nominated as PC Gamer US's "Best Multiplayer Game 2005" and overall game of the year, but lost in these categories to Battlefield 2. IGN chose it as the PC Game of the Year of 2005 over competing titles such as F.E.A.R. and Guild Wars, the Best Strategy Game (both for PC and overall) and as the Best Online Game of 2005 for PC. In 2006, IGN ranked it first place on The Editor's Top 10 list and second place on the Top 25 PC Games of All Time list.

Retro Civ Month: Civilization 3 - What do you mean there are no hexagons?
This March, we'll be playing through all the old Civilization games that are available on steam. The oldest game available is Civilization 3. There are a lot of mechanics in this game that have carried over to other Civilization games, but there are also some not so good mechanics that didn't make it to Civilization 4. It's a blast from the past, and definitely something to check out if you're a passionate Civilization fan.

Rulers of China Pack Introduces Yongle, Wu Zetian, and Qin Shi Huang (The Unifier)

Tokugawa of Japan made us all realize that domestic trade routes are AMAZING!
Tokugawa has to be the most talked about leader since the new Leader Pass released a couple months ago. We never realized how incredible domestic trade routes can really be when you pair Magnus promotions with government plaza's in the capital. We finally get to play the new leaders from the Great Commanders pack, and we agree that this pack added 3 very good leaders to Civ 6.

Are you excited for TheCivGive2022?! We are, and we have done extensive testing and experimenting on how we can be confident that a full game will happen this year. We have partnered with two companies to help put on the game this year.
Invictus Game Station, a LAN centre in Toronto that will be hosting TheCivGive2022. They will be providing 14 computers that we can use for our event. They will be allowing our players to connect remotely and we'll be able to create a local network game to ensure fast and reliable connections.

The Start of the Leader Pass, Julius Caesar, Abraham Lincoln, Mbande Nzinga, and Sultan Saladin!

The leader pass has not started in the best ways for Firaxis and Civilization. A lot of users have been reporting that the game has reset to the first version of the game with no expansions or any DLC. The devs are actively fixing the issue and hopefully it gets resolved in the next couple of days.
We were introduced to 4 new leaders, Julius Caesar, Abraham Lincoln, Mbande Nzinga, and Sultan Saladin. We go over all the new abilities for the leaders and talk about potential strategies to best use these new leaders.

How Mods Can Be Used To Keep Civ 6 Feeling Fresh & Fix Minor Issues w/ Inquisitive Otter + 3 other special guests
With no new content on the horizon for Civ 6, sometimes it's hard to keep the game feeling exciting. Thankfully with an incredible community, Civ 6's modding community has been improving the game with UI changes that can tell you which tiles your citizens are working by simply hovering over your mouse on the city, or the Quick Deals mod that automatically suggest the best trade deals you can get with the AI.
Inquisitive Otter has made a few mods that have changed the game drastically, like having the AI start 1 era completely ahead of you, or having comets fall from the sky starting on turn 1 but leaving behind 10 yields of science, food, production, and faith.
We interview Inquisitive Otter and others on what mods they are using and how it affects their games/streams.

Civilization Beyond Earth, Creating a custom Civilization with Peppermint_Butler, and TheCivGive2021
Civilization Beyond Earth was released back in 2014 as an "in-between" game between Civilization V and Civilization VI. When it first came out, people were thrown off about the game not being a historical 4x despite it having the "Civilization" branding; with many agreeing that it, "Just didn't feel like Civ."
Last Sunday, Zo and Moy recently tried Beyond Earth and were genuinely surprised at how much fun they had with the game. Beyond Earth implements many systems that make this game standout as a unique game of Civilization that make sense when you're the one colonizing an unknown planet. Things like quests, affinity systems, and the dreaded "Pain in Miasma".

We gave ourselves Deity AI bonuses
Ever wondered how crazy it would be if you received the same bonuses as a Deity AI? 5 warriors, 3 settlers, 3 builders on turn 1, +100% bonus production and gold, +40% bonus Culture, Science, and Faith yields, and +50% combat XP. These bonuses allowed us to produce a lot of units and get to high tech units very quickly. Everyone easily had over 1000 military strength, and at the end of the game, almost 2000 military strength.

What happens to Zo and Moy when Nystagmus isn't there to act as the neutral party?
Nystagmus was away last week, leaving Moy and Zo to play against one another. They recruited Owls_of_Daijken and SGNamine_ to assist them, and the result was one of the biggest bloodbaths in TheCivShow history.

We Play an Era Score Challenge!
Last week we played a game where the player with the most amount of Era Score by the end of the game was declared the winner. No Science victory, no Culture victory, just pure Era Score.

We Try a Religion Only Game w/ No War
We all know that a religious victory is next to impossible in multiplayer with the ability to declare war and murder all of the religious units with military units, resulting in thousands of lost faith. However, for this game, we made a house rule where war was not allowed, and only religious battles can take place. We explore the power of Spain, Russia, Ethiopia, and Brazil and finally figure out exactly what Guru's are good for.

We made Comets fall on our cities | Apocalypse Mode Showdown
We wanted to start to break away from the regular win conditions, and want to start making our own. Nystagmus came up with a game involving one of the game modes that was introduced in the New Frontier Pass, Apocalypse Mode. Whoever has the the highest pollution total by the end of the game, is declared the winner. This led to some interesting events involving comets and cities.

3v3 vs. Peppermint_Butler, VanBradley, and Owls_of_Daijken (we suck at teamwork)
For the first time ever, the 3 hosts team up together, to take on 3 other streamers. Obviously, the motto "We suck, so you don't have to" still applied in this game as Peppermint_Butler led his team to victory with the power of Poland's Winged Hussar's. Zo also learned that Pike and Shots are pretty good against them, but didn't use them anyway.

The Civilization soundtrack has debatably some of the best music in gaming.
