Time Stamps:

Preparing for an Art Show: "Having your work in a public art or gallery show is vital for making a name for yourself."

[00:00:06 → 00:00:11]

Art Exhibition Strategy: "Choose a single piece or cohesive selection of work that represents your unique creative style. Consider the dynamic of your audience and choose work that will be compelling and offer a lasting impression."

[00:01:32 → 00:01:44]

Selecting Art for Your Audience: "This is one of the hardest things sometimes for people to separate their love of an art piece versus what might be more compelling to their audience. So put some thought into this."

[00:02:17 → 00:02:29]

Art Exhibition Preparation: "All of your work should be ready to display, meaning hardware ready for installation and complying with whatever the art show restrictions are."

[00:03:48 → 00:03:59]

Effective Artwork Presentation: "Then you're gonna print a title block on card stock with an easy-to-read font. This is where you add bullet points or short lines of information with proper spacing. This title block will have your name or the artist's name, the artwork title, but it will also contain the art medium, the size of the piece, and the price if you're selling that piece of art."

[00:05:28 → 00:05:52]

Maximizing Networking Opportunities at Trade Shows: "Bring branded materials, especially if you're gonna be there at the show, meaning business cards or contact information. Again, that QR code makes it easy. If you don't wanna deal with that, people can just scan that QR code, and it'll take them to your website. But it's not a bad idea to also have some kind of branded materials that you can give to someone if they're a fan of your work."

[00:06:23 → 00:06:42]

Art Pricing Strategies: "Consider the value of your work based on the local market, your expertise, and the time that you have invested into that work. It's up to you to determine and to establish a final price, but you also wanna know what your local market is for particular artists in that market.

[00:07:12 → 00:07:29]

Art Exhibition Preparation: "The biggest thing is the presentation of your work is important on how it is organized and displayed in the show. Balancing the symmetry of your art when you're hanging it or grouping it and making sure that everything looks professional The people can truly see the detail of your work and the beauty of your art."

[00:08:50 → 00:09:09]

Preparing for an Art Show: "If you follow these steps and prepare for your show, you'll be ready to showcase your talent at any art show and make a lasting impression."

Join me as I check into the four-star Hotel Kivir and go on a tour of the city's points of interest. And what better way to immerse myself as I check out the Bodega Diez Salazar bar, where traditional tapas and an array of beers and wine await.

As the day transitions into the evening, I gather with friends on the rooftop bar of our hotel for an unforgettable evening hosted by Jose. Why Is Self-Confidence Important For Success?

Why Is Self-Confidence Important For Success?

On this episode of The Creative Push, I dive into the topic of self-confidence and its importance for success as a freelancer. I discuss how having a positive attitude towards oneself and one's abilities can lead to greater happiness than external factors. I provide ideas on developing self-compassion, positive self-talk, and confidence as a way to succeed in business as a creative. The conversation touches on the negative effects of social media, how childhood experiences can affect our confidence, and the importance of treating oneself well. I share ten things you can do right now to help grow your confidence in how you talk to yourself.  Join me as I explore the fascinating topic of self-confidence and how it impacts our lives.

Show Note Timestamps:

[00:00:45] The text is about struggling with self-confidence, specifically in regard to being a perfectionist and comparing oneself to others. It emphasizes the importance of self-confidence for success in freelance work and offers tips for improving it based on the author's personal experience.

[00:01:37] The author struggled with bullies but learned to act tough. They struggle with personal self-confidence, especially in new areas like Vlogging and podcasting. Their confidence is based on their looks, sounds, and clothes, but they know that others are likely dealing with their own self-confidence issues.

[00:02:52] Confidence is crucial for success and happiness as it allows one to have a positive attitude towards oneself, leading to greater satisfaction in all aspects of life.

[00:04:06] Developing a positive mindset is essential and is developed in early childhood. However, one can change their negative confidence by feeding and nurturing a positive mindset over time with self-talk.

[00:05:10] Overcome negative self-talk and filter it out to stay on course, as it can derail you. Everyone struggles with it to some extent, but some people are better at dealing with it because of their experiences or upbringing. Enjoy the creative push podcast.

[00:06:00] Artist interviews need support. Self-compassion is important for personal and business success. Don't compare yourself to others.

[00:07:10] Stop comparing yourself to others and believe in your uniqueness to grow self-confidence. Don't compare yourself to the perfect moments of others on social media.

[00:07:56] Replace negative self-talk with positive words and bring humor into thinking. Laugh at oneself and take action with positive words.

[00:08:47] Change your negative story to boost confidence, be kinder to yourself, and surround yourself with positive people.

[00:11:01] Self-confidence enables focusing on strengths, accepting mistakes and discomfort, increasing resilience, motivation, authenticity, seeing value and worth, standing up for oneself, asking for fair compensation, speaking clearly and honestly with clients, and achieving personal growth.

Bands In The Barn Live With Carl Wockner

Bands In The Barn Live With Carl Wockner

In this BONUS podcast, Australian musician, looper, and singer-songwriter Carl Wockner plays in Nashville at a private monthly event called Bands In The Barn. Hosted by David Billings and Susan Whitaker, the event showcases talented local Nashville singer-songwriters and allows them to share their own music with a large private crowd at the barn. This event started in early 2021 and is intended to honor these very talented artists in support of their own music rather than the covers so many of them have to play around town to make a living.

This live podcast is the Bonus material from Carl Wockner's artist interview episode on The Creative Push. It opens with David Billings explaining how he decided to use an old hay barn to support local musicians and then lets Carl take over the stage performing original songs for over an hour. Carl moved to Nashville in 2016 with his wife and two kids to grow his musical career. He is an Australian artist with accolades that include Top Honors at the 2015 International Acoustic Music Awards for the release of his album Crayon Days as well as Best Soloist by Scope Magazine. His first two singles gained national radio play on the Billboard Charts both in the US and in the UK. I 2016, Better received a nomination for Best Adult Contemporary Album in the Independent Music Awards. He recently was awarded Musician Of The Year 20/21 for the QLD Prestige awards.

The Creative Push: Mastermind 1

Welcome to The Creative Push, an intimate and diverse artist interview series. Here artists and makers of all kinds share tips, advice, knowledge, and inspiration that you can learn from each week! This series is part of the Learn and Create educational platform helping creatives further their knowledge in creativity, art, and business. I am Sheri Oneal, a photographer, artist, writer, and educator. I started this series to help motivate, educate and inspire creative people through sharing ideas and resources. This is our very first Podcast and we will get better as we grow I promise! I wanted to start with a mastermind goal and accountability meeting with artist Randy L. Purcell, Val Adams, and myself. Each week we share artistic goals and ideas on managing and marketing our businesses while coaching each other and being accountable. To mix it up I will have artist interviews coming soon! Ask us questions and tell us what you want to hear, we are here to help and grow as a creative community for artists and creatives everywhere!
