England's C Team Sweep Pakistan, India B Head to Sri Lanka, England and India's Women Face Off and Australia Get Hammered!
Jack and Max are once again joined by Dan Weston to digest the smorgasbord of cricket that has been offer over the past week! In Part 1, we review the recent ODI series between England and Pakistan. Immediately after our preview episode the news came out that some cases of Covid in the England camp meant the naming of an entirely new team overnight. That was no issue for England though who impressively won every game of the three match series despite Babar Azam's classy 150 in the thrid match. We dissect the performances of the players who were called up and assess their chances of becoming a permanent fixture in the England series. In Part 2 we look forward to the T20 series between the same teams, and take a look ahead to the Indian white ball team's tour of Sri Lanka, who are once again in disarray. We also review the series between India and England's women, which was drawing to a close at the time of recording, and cover the other cricket ongoing - Aus v WI, Ire v SA, and some Hundred news... England v Sri Lanka T20 Series Review - T20 Blast Action - WI v SA - Twenty20 Bonanza!
England v Sri Lanka is the big topic as Jack and Max of The Cricket Podcast are joined by Guerilla Cricket's Nakul Pande to talk T20 action. We start by discussing the three match series between England and Sri Lanka. It was a one sided affair, but what did we learn from England's selection? Which players pressed a claim for a World Cup spot and who looks like they could drop out? And are there any silver linings for the Sri Lanka team? The Vitality Blast is also well underway, and we look at who is well placed, who has performed well, and how much rain there has been. Finally, we turn to South Africa's tour of the West Indies. How are the two teams shaping up and might they be in with an outside chance of World Cup glory? Day 6 - India v New Zealand - WTC Final - REVIEW - Jamieson is unstoppable, Pant, NEW ZEALAND WIN!
In the World Test Championship Final, India have exploded to hand New Zealand a golden opportunity to win the inaugural edition of the competition. Kyle Jamieson was unplayable in the morning, before Rishabh Pant lead an Indian fightback. However, on the brink of safety India imploded and left New Zealand a target of just 139 to win. The greatest New Zealand team of all time? Did Pant cost India the game? Is Jamieson New Zealand's GOAT? In the World Test Championship Final, New Zealand batted for a large portion of the day, before eventually being bowled out with a 32 run lead over India. Shami was the top bowler taking four wickets, whilst Williamson's marathon innings for New Zealand yielded 49 hard runs.  Who is on top? Can anyone force a win? England v New Zealand 2nd Test Review - England's Edgbaston Embarrassment
Ross and Max take a look back at the 2nd test between England and New Zealand, which, after a tight start, ended up in a runaway victory for the Black Caps. England's middle order failed to materialise once again, while a much-changed New Zealand side, missing captain Kane Williamson, showed their hosts how it was done. It was a comfortable win the New Zealand, who secured a rare series win away in England. What did New Zealand do well, and where did England go wrong? England Draw With New Zealand in Snorefest - And A Preview of the Second Test
England took on New Zealand in the first Test of the summer and, unfortunately, the match was not a thriller. After losing a day to rain the draw seemed inevitable until Kane Williamson tried to get things going at lunch on day 5. England, however, weren't interested and blocked out for the next 6 hours. The Cricket Podcast boys have a chat about all the "action" from the Test, including Conway's double-ton, Ollie Robinson's good cricket and poor off-field behaviour, and Root's inexplicable decision to not try and win the game.  In part two they look forward to the final Test. How will New Zealand line up with the WTC Final round the corner? Why suspending Robinson was correct? Who will take home the trophy (whatever it is called)? How the ECB Should Respond to the BCCI - Darren Stevens SMASHES 190! - Our Old Man XI
The Cricket Podcast Boys get together to talk about the big cricket news stories of the week. First up they discuss the BCCI's request to reschedule the summer's Test series against England. How should the ECB respond? Could this be an opportunity to get Indian players involved in The Hundred? Then they go on to discuss the County Championship. Approaching the end of the first leg of the competition, holders Essex look like they may not qualify for the top division. Meanwhile 45 year old Darren Stevens smashed 190, including 15 sixes, in Kent's draw v Glamorgan. In part two, the boys name their Old Man XI, featuring contemporary old duffers, old duffers from the past, and old duffers who weren't actually old duffers, but just looked like old duffers.  Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod Our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/ Our channel membership: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1njF-8tUuQVbTZVyUaoBcQ/join Our website: www.thecricketpod.com

England Name Their Test Squad, Sandpaper, de Villiers Retires (AGAIN), and Our World Test Championship XI
On this episode of The Cricket Podcast the boys discuss the big news from cricket over the last week. England name their Test Squad to face New Zealand. The big omission is Jofra Archer, who is struggling again with his mystery elbow injury. How will England structure their XI, and will their be room for Ollie Robinson? In other news, Cameron Bancroft has reignited the sandpaper furore, by saying that the bowlers knew. Did anyone think they didn't know? Why is this so funny?  AB de Villiers has also retired from international cricket again. Who saw that coming? Finally, the boys name their World Test Championship XI, featuring a player from every nation, and absolutely no structure whatsoever. IPL Review Show - de Villiers is awesome, Hetmyer falls short and CSK SMASH Warner's Sunrisers
The Cricket Podcast get together to cover the last two IPL matches. In the first match of the show the boys chat aboutyesterday's thriller between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. Shimron Hetmyer almost pulled it off, but ended up leaving DC just one run short. In RCB's innings de Villiers was a freak, again, bringing up his 5,000th IPL run. The boys will also be covering today's match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. CSK continued their good form, largely thanks to a terrible innings played by David Warner. Chennai Super Kings v Rajasthan Royals - IPL Match Review - A Right Royal Collapse
Jack, Ross and Max discuss Monday's IPL fixture between CSK and RR. CSK's batting order (mostly) all chipped in to put on a decent score of 188 from their 20 overs. In reply Buttler started well, but once he fell under the pressure of carrying a sub-par Royals side, the middle order disintegrated at the hands of Jadeja and Moeen Ali, giving CSK another comfortable win.  Just how bad are Rajasthan Royals, and why is Shivam Dube batting at 4? Rajasthan Royals v Delhi Capitals - IPL - Post-match review - Chris Morris THE HERO
On IPL match day seven, Rajasthan Royals beat the Delhi Capitals in another thrilling fixture. Chris Morris was the hero for RR as they came from nowhere to steal victory at the death from the Capitals. Tom Curran was the fall guy for DC, why was he there and will he play again? Has Chris Morris paid off his enormous price tag, probably a fair bit of it? And was Tom Curran adopted? Jack, Ross and Max discuss the day's play between SRH and RCB, with RCB taking the points to make it two wins from their first two. Sunrisers Hyderabad v Kolkata Knight Riders - IPL - Post-match review
On IPL match day three, Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Kolkata Knight Riders. Last year SRH made the play-offs before losing to Delhi in the semi-final, meanwhile Kolkata Knight Riders were knocked out on net run rate for the second year in a row. With Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan leading the line for SRH, many people have tipped them as one of the favourites for this year's IPL. On the other hand, KKR fans will be hoping that their big stars (Andre Russell, Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, etc.) are able to finally come to the party.  On this episode the boys are joined by DJ from the Edges and Sledges Podcast: https://youtube.com/channel/UCXuz5pvz... You can follow The Cricket Podcast on Twitter and Instagram @thecricketpod #SRHvKKR #IPL2021

Jack, Ross and Max are joined by Daniel Norcross (@norcrosscricket) to discuss the second game of the 2021 IPL (and our third attempt at a livestream) between CSK and Delhi Capitals. There was much to look at going into this game with the spotlight on Pant's captaincy, the return of Suresh Raina and two Curran brothers facing off. Mumbai Indians - IPL Preview: Part 8 - Do They Have The Best T20 Team in History?
The 2020 Champions, Mumbai Indians, are the last team we preview in our eight part 2021 IPL preview. They were so dominant in 2020 that the discussion about their side has transcended commentary on last year, and the great debate is now whether they are the best T20 team ever. With a team that includs: Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya- they certainly have some of the greatest players of all time.  Are their spinners a weakness? Delhi Capitals - IPL Preview: Part 7 - Can Rishabh Pant lead them to glory? Why is Steve Smith here?
Our IPL Preview series continues with Delhi Capitals. Last year the Capitals finished as runners-up, although, in reality, they were a very distant second to Mumbai Indians. What appeared to let them down was a lack of firepower with the bat, which made their decision to pick up Steve Smith at the auction extremely puzzling. Overall though, their team is still decent, with players like Rabada, Nortje and, most notably, Rishabh Pant providing a very strong core to their squad. How will their batting line-up shape up? Sunrisers Hyderabad - IPL Preview: Part 6 - Warner, Bairstow, Williamson, so WHY SELECT ROY!?
Our IPL Preview series continues with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last year SRH  made it to the play-offs, as they found form towards the end of the  tournament. Eventually they were knocked out by Delhi in the Qualifier. They have kept a similar squad for 2021, opting against mixing things up, which is understandable when your team includes Bhuvi, Natarajan, Warner, and Rashid Khan. The big news is the addition of Jason Roy, for reasons unknown.    How do Roy, Bairstow, Williamson and Warner fit into one side? Royal Challengers Bangalore - IPL Preview: Part 5 - RCB add Maxwell & Jamieson, Is it Kohli's Year?
Our IPL Preview series continues with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Last year RCB reached the play-offs but were knocked out immediately. Following that, they decided to detonate their squad and have made some significant changes to their team. Aaron Finch, Moeen Ali, Chris Morris  are all out, with Kyle Jamieson, Glenn Maxwell and Dan Christian coming in as replacements. On paper that reshuffle makes them look pretty good,  but the game isn't decided on paper!    Will Virat Kohli bat with more intent? Will Glenn Maxwell play like Glenn Maxwell? Kolkata Knight Riders - IPL 2021 Preview: Part 4 - Dre Russ, Morgan, Cummins, But It Still Doesn't Feel "Right"
Our IPL Preview series continues with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Last year KKR missed out on the play-offs despite having one of the most explosive teams at the tournament. Injuries, poor form and a dodgy action conspired to foil them, as their season never got going, and eventually fizzled out. It looks like the cast of players is there to support a good run in the tournament, but questions still remain about the fitness of Dre Russ, the captaincy of Morgan, and whether they can fit Cummins and Ferguson into the same team.  Can they finally put it all together? Punjab Kings - IPL 2021 Preview: Part 3 - Can KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Jhye Richardson and co. Complete The Comeback Kings' Dream?
Our IPL Preview series continues with the Punjab Kings. Last year the artists formerly known as Kings XI fell at the last hurdle, as their amazing comeback surge wilted in the final games. This season they will be looking to go one better, with the additions of Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith providing the bowling they lacked during 2020. This means that the Punjab Kings actually look quite good on paper, surely something will go wrong between now and the tournament- but, until it does, Kings fans should be happy! Do this team have enough to make the play-offs? Will they miss Glenn Maxwell? And will Dawid Malan get a game? India v England - 3rd ODI - Pant Goes Ballistic, Curran Comes So Close, and India WIN
India won the third ODI against England, to clinch the series 2-1, and conclude England’s tour of India. In a thrilling match England came up just short, despite an awesome performance from Sam Curran. The Indian bowling, led by Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur kept pegging England back with key wickets throughout the innings, and the away team was unable to score as freely as they had in the second match. India showed a willingness to adapt and come away from the series with plenty of questions answered.  How good is Rishabh Pant? Where did England go wrong with the bat? India lost to England in the second of three ODIs between the teams. Ben Stokes' awesome display of hitting was too much for India’s bowlers, with England eventually winning easily. Despite this there were positives for India, as Rishabh Pant put on a display himself in the first innings, and Hardik Pandya showed off his own ball striking ability. Ep 86: India Win T20 Series, Our Combined India/England XI, and Jofra Archer Injury Nightmare.
India came from behind to take down the 5 match T20 international series, versus England. In part one the boys from The Cricket Podcast, Jack, Ross and Max, discuss how this happened. What did India learn across the series? Why are they now better set up for success? And who is winning the white ball arms race between the two nations? Later, they pick a combined India/England XI. This ends up being slightly India heavy, which reflects the series. A couple of big names miss out, and in the end everyone is worried the team they have picked is slightly underwhelming. Let us know what you think on Twitter.  In part 3, they preview the ODI series. England look like they will rotate, with Parkinson, Livingstone and Topley waiting for a game. India, on the other hand, have put out their strongest XI (less Bumrah and Jadeja). Second T20: India Bounce Back to Thrash England with Kishan Starring on Debut
India took on England in the second T20 of their five-match series. Max and Ross from The Cricket Podcast discuss how India bounced back to comfortably beat England. India were brilliant throughout; picking the right players like rockstar Ishan Kishan who impressed on debut, executing smart bowling plans and batting as a T20 team instead of an ODI team! England could not find the same fluency as Friday's game as they struggled batting first and they got their selection wrong after Mark Wood was ruled out with an injury with Tom Curran struggling to back up his £550k IPL price tag. We also discuss what England need to do next, we ask "Where's Rohit?" and wonder if the compression sleeves of Hardik Pandya, Jofra, Stokes and Sam Curran will make there way into the amateur game this season.  Make sure you follow The Cricket Podcast on Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod and subscribe to us on YouTube!

Ep 85: India v England Test Series Recap & T20 Preview
The Test series between India and England is over, ending in 3-1 win for  India. Jack, Ross and Max get together for a review of the Test series and a look back at the performances of both teams. What was wrong with England's strategy and how badly wrong did they get their selection? How  can they improve their batting against spin?    As for India, are there any concerns with the performance of their top  six? And do they have a selection dilemma after Axar's excellent  performances?   In part 2 (44mins) the boys turn their attention to the T20 series. Why does Jack think India are going to lose 4-1? Ep 82: India THRASH England & IPL Auction Preview
India v England and the IPL auction are the big topics on this week’s episode of The Cricket Podcast. Jack, Ross and Max get together to discuss both topics, in an episode which is effectively two shows in one. Part one, (from 0:11) covers India v England, starting with a long discussion about the stars of the India team. Rohit Sharma bossed England in the first innings, before Ashwin took over with 8 wickets and a century of his own. England meanwhile looked clueless, can they do anything to bounce back? The match was also not without controversy, and this is a topic of debate. Will Kohli be banned for the third Test? Why were the umpires so bad? And was the pitch acceptable? Part 2, (from 1:14) covers the IPL auction. The boys are joined by cricket analyst Dan Weston to talk about the IPL Auction. Ep 81: India Beaten by Brilliant England & Second Test Preview
On this episode of The Cricket Podcast, Jack, Max and Ross discuss England’s shocking victory over India in Chennai. There was little optimism prior to the first Test of this series, but England deserved their victory as they swept India aside. How did they pull this off? In part two, the boys turn their attention to the second Test. Both teams will be making changes, England to rotate, and India from a tactical perspective. How will the two sides line up for the second Test and does anyone want to change their prediction? Finally, a lot of other cricket took place last week. James Vince was heroic in the BBL, Mitchell Starc is out of the IPL and Pakistan were resurgent at home. However the big story was about the West Indies, who completed a historic win over Bangladesh. IPL Special Ep 5: The IPL Gets Exciting- It's all in Kings XI's Hands!
Jack and Max get together for this week’s IPL special. Things are starting to heat up in the tournament, so there is plenty to get stuck into. To begin with, we need to talk about KXIP, they have come from nowhere to being one of the favourites to make the play-offs. What is behind their resurgence? On the other hand KKR turned in the worst performance of the season against RCB. What’s going wrong there, can Narine save them? The preview section of the show is also packed. This weekend there are crucial games between Sunrisers and Kings XI. The loser of that game will probably be eliminated. And, on Monday, KKR take on Kings XI, this could be the biggest match of the group stage, and may see KXIP take fourth place!
