India Draw Against New Zealand and the IPL Franchises Decide on which Players to Retain
Max and Ross review the rollercoaster journey of the 1st Test Match between India vs New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer impressed on debut and has surely taken Rahane's spot for the next Test. The spin trio of Axar, Jadeja and Ashwin took 17 wickets between them and came within one ball of victory but the grit, determination and talent of the Kiwi's we have grown accustomed to was in there yet again as the sun came down on the fifth and final day. We also provide an update on Pakistan who are in control against Bangladesh whilst West Indies are struggling against Sri Lanka. The guys also look at the IPL retentions for all the sides, pick apart who's done well and who's failing miserably (Sunrisers!). Rashid Khan and KL Rahul are mentioned aplenty, who is on the decline and what should the franchise's retention strategies be? Tim Paine Scandal, Ashes Squads & India Take On New Zealand (With Melinda Farrell)!
In part one of this episode we talk about the cricket over the last week. India have been taking on New Zealand in three T20s, winning them all and setting up their top flight Test series up very well. Can the Kiwis do anything away from home to surprise the Indians? We also chat about the crazy final over between Pakistan and Bangladesh, in a match which went down to the wire.  In part two (29:00 mins), we talk about how the cricket world went into meltdown this week as Australian Cricket spiralled into yet another scandal. Tim Paine stepped down as Test Captain after private messages were leaked to the press. It transpired that in 2017 he had been investigated, and cleared by Cricket Australia, but following the revelation he felt his position was untenable.  We also discuss Australia's World Cup win and what that means for Australian cricket fans. And we chat about the Ashes squads and make some tentative early predictions.  On this episode we were joined by journalist, broadcaster and quarantine expert: Melinda Farrell! PAKISTAN BOTTLE IT - The Aussies Find Themselves in Another Final - Wade + Scoop = Win
The T20 World Cup Super 12 has reached the semi-final stage and this was game determined who face New Zealand after they beat England yesterday. The Cricket Podcast (Ross) is joined by Dan Weston to talk and slightly cry about the second semi-final, Australia v Pakistan. Pakistan were unbeaten in the tournament but this was a game too far as the ruthless bowling and fielding we'd seen fell apart. Hassan Ali dropped Wade at a critical moment after being whacked round the ground and Stoinis and Wade got the Aussies home. Babar Azam picks up the pieces and Aaron Finch has the chance to go out with a trophy. India BATTER Scotland & New Zealand See Off Namibia - T20 World Cup Analysis & Reaction
Max and Ross digest the day's games as neither minnow was able to spring an unlikely upset. Namibia came closest and were in the game for a good spell until New Zealand's class shone through. Things were less close in the evening game, as Kohli celebrated his birthday bu battering the Scots. Where does that leave the group and semi final qualification with a game a piece left for NZ, India and Afghanistan?

Australia Blitz Bangladesh & Sri Lanka Dump Out the Champions - T20 World Cup Analysis & Reaction
In this morning's 2021 T20 World Cup Australia blitzed bangladesh, winning out comfortably. This leaves the Australians in prime position to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. It also means that Bangladesh lose 5 out of 5, which is sad. The Cricket Podcast discuss all of this, bringing their analysis and reaction to events.   Later on Sri Lanka took on West Indies in a must win game for the men in maroon. Sri Lanka piled on the runs and the West Indies ageing line up weren't able to chase it down. India CRUSH Afghanistan & New Zealand WIN Again - T20 World Cup Analysis & Reaction
India v Aghanistan if the big game today, at the T20 World Cup. India need a convincing win to rebalance their Net Run Rate and give themselves a chance of qualification. A win for Afghanistan will eliminate India from the T20 World Cup, and leave them on the brink of qualification. The Cricket Podcast discuss this, and the earlier game, bring reaction and analysis to the tournament.   In the end India crushed Afghanistan, winning by so far I wrote this with over 10 overs to spare.  Earlier in the day New Zealand completed a reasonably comfortable win over Scotland, thought they will have hoped for more. This win leaves them with a simple equation in their remaining matches, win 2 and guarantee qualification.  Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod Our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/ Our channel membership: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1nj... England DESTROY Australia & Afghanistan v Pakistan Thrills! - T20 World Cup Analysis & Reaction
The 2021 T20 World Cup continues with a double header as England play Australia in the evening, after South Africa face Sri Lanka in the morning. The Cricket Podcast cover both matches with their reaction and analysis of the contests. The England v Australia contest could decided the winner of Group 1 as both sides go into the contest with a record of played 2, won 2. Will Warner maintaing his form, or will England prove a step up? Can Morgan's men win again virtually seal top spot, and put themselves in a great position to win the T20 World Cup? In the earlier game, both Sri Lanka and South Africa will be desperate for a win. The loser will almost certainly be eliminated, whilst the winner will have a slim chance of catching second place.  And, because we had a day off yesterday we haven't covered the game of the tournament so far. As Afghanistan and Pakistan thrilled us all in the game of the tournament so far. Pakistan's Asif Ali was key as his side beat Rashid Khan's Afghanistan to put themselves in full control of Group 2.  And there will be a bit of chat about India tomorrow. Gonna be a packed show! Starc and Australia Are Too Good For Sri Lanka - T20 World Cup Analysis & Reaction AND IPL Retention Debate!
Today at the T20 World Cup, Australia overcame a Sri Lankan side that promised much but fell apart with the ball. Sri Lanka set a competitive score in the 150s but Australia's opening duo of Warner and Finch rolled back the years to chase it down with ease. Chameera and the other Sri Lankan quicks lost the plot, as Stoinis saw the Ausseis home with overs to spare.  And, after all of that, Jack and Ross have time to discuss the IPL. The BCCI released their retention rules this week, so the pair debate the impact this will have on the IPL and what they think this will mean for the tournament. The 2021 T20 World Cup continues with a double header as West Indies play South Africa & Pakistan take on New Zealand. The Cricket Podcast get together to cover both matches, providing insight and analysis in reaction to both matches. In the early game West Indies struggled to a score of 140ish, with Lendl Simmons playing one of the worst innings of all time. South Africa had their own problems, of Quinton de Kock's making, but were eventually able to win. We cover both the game and de Kock's refusal to kneel in this episode. In the later game Pakistan beat New Zealand. Pakistan were on a massive high going into this one, having overcome their arch-rivals India in their first game. The 2021 T20 World Cup continues as Scotland face Afghanistan. Such was the onslaught that Afghanistan ended the innings with the 5 biggest sixes of the tournament.  Scotland started their reply with a frenzy, and it looked like game on, until Mujeeb bowled his second over. T20 World Cup 2021 - Analysis & Reaction - Pakistan Beat India In Cricket's Biggest Rivalry & Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh!
The 2021 T20 World Cup continues as India play Pakistan, in cricket's biggest rivalry. The Cricket Podcast bring their analysis and reaction from this game, as stars like Babar Azam and Virat Kohli face off. It may only be the fourth match of Round 2, but it is fair to say that India v Pakistan may be the bigest game of the 2021 T20 World Cup.  India have been fantastic in their warm-up matches, whilst Pakistan's preparations have been disrupted by cancelled tours. Both teams will have a point to prove as they go for the win, and try to claim bragging rights from this rivalry.  As it turns out, on the day Pakistan had too much for India, as a great spell up top, from Shaheen Afridi put India on the back foot. Depsite a fight back from the Indian side, Babar Azam and Rizwan were able to lead Pakistan to a 10 wicket win, in a result which will send shock waves round the cricketing world.  Will India or Pakistan get off to a great start? T20 World Cup 2021 - Analysis - England's World Cup Begins! Australia Win! - And India v Pakistan...
Our analysis of the Second Round of the 2021 T20 World Cup starts with a bang, as England face West Indies and Australia play South Africa. England go into the tournament as one of the strong favourites, however, their may still be ghosts for them after the West Indies shocked them in 2016. Australia, meanwhile, enter the 2021 T20 World Cup off the back of a humiliating defeat to India, though, it is fair to say, South Africa have their own problems. The Cricket Podcast provide their reaction to both contests.  In the early match, Australia strangled the South Africa innings, before they secured victory after a nervy chase! T20 World Cup - Analysis - Namibia Qualify and Sri Lanka Run Riot!
The 2021 T20 World Cup continues as Irleand played Namibia in a contest which decided who will qualify for the tournament's second round. The Cricket Podcast bring their analysis from this match, as well as chatting about Sri Lanka's game versus the Netherlands, as they ran riot, dismissing the Dutch for just 44.  In their T20 World Cup opener, Ireland were fantastic in their opener as they blew away a dutch side. Against Sri Lanka, however, they struggled, as the high pace of the Sri Lankan seamers put them under too much pressure. Namibia were also held down by Sri Lanka, but played wonderfully against the Netherlands to set up a qualificaiton decider with Ireland.  How did Namibia overcome Ireland? The T20 World Cup kicked off on Sunday, with two Group B fixtures; Oman vs Papau New Guinea and Bangladesh vs Scotland. We are joined by Scouting Cricket's Ronan Alexander to understand how Scotland upstaged Bangladesh causing the first upset of the tournament on the very first day and we reflect on an impressive 10 wicket opening victory for Oman over Papau New Guinea.  Scotland and Oman both played with positive intent, getting Scotland out of jail when they were 53-6 whilst Oman's net run rate was boosted rather nicely. Papau New Guinea looked starstruck and it was an unfortunately silly run out that saw a promising middle order stand crumble. Bangladesh let complacency creep into their game and their lack of firepower with the bat saw them flail.  Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod Our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/ Our channel membership: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1njF-8tUuQVbTZVyUaoBcQ/join Our website: www.thecricketpod.com #T20WorldCup

IPL Final - CSK v KKR -Analysis and Reaction - Dhoni Makes It 4! Chennai Super Kings Win!
Chennai Super Kings overcame the Kokata Knight Riders to win the 2021 IPL final. In fine style CSK dispatched their opposition, posting a mammoth before strangling the KKR innings in the middle overs. Chennai Super Kings posted an intimidating total of 193 thanks to Faf Du Plessis' great knock. Narine was the only bowler to produce any magic for KKR on this occasion, as Morgan's, Kolkata Knight Riders, bowlers were sent round the park by Moeen and Uthappa.  After a good start in the chase KKR were unable to keep up with CSK as eventually Shoni's boys ran away with it. Kolkata Knight Riders v Delhi Capitals - Qualifier Reaction & Analysis - KKR Make The Final!
In the second qualifiers Kolkata Knight Riders take on Delhi Capitals, with the winner through to a showdown with Chennai Super Kings. DC lost qualifier one, as Dhoni rolled back the years, to punish Tom Curran's final over. KKR meanwhile are on a high as they comfortably dispatched RCB in the elminator, to end Kohli's captaincy career.  Can Eoin Morgan, in his role as a specialist captain, secure a place for KKR in the final? Will Pant lead a DC fight back? Can either of these teams take down the Chennai Super Kings? We answer those questions and more, in our post-match analysis and reaction! Royal Challengers Bangalore v Kolkata Knight Riders - Eliminator Analysis - RCB ELIMINATED!
In the second match of the IPL play-offs Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the ELIMINATOR. The Cricket Podcast record a live show to cover the action, providing analysis and reaction to the contest.  RCB finished with 9 wins in the group stages, good for third place overall, one place above KKR. This made them slight favourite for this match, but around the halfway stage they had become bogged down with Bharat and Kohli struggling to find the boundary.  Will they be able to set a competitive total, to set up a final for Kohli's final match as captain? Will specialist Captain, Eoin Morgan, finally score some runs? Are KKR's spinners too good? The Cricket Podcast give their live reaction to this, as we discuss who has made the final, who blew their opportunity and who were the stars? Also, we talk about the Tom Curran decision, and the epic batting from MS Dhoni.  Delhi started fast, as Prithvi Shaw scored quickly to put them in a strong position. Following that Pant and Hetmyer left them on a good score of 172. In response Gaikwad and Robin Uthappa built a strong platform as CSK attacked the DC total.  Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod Our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/ Our channel membership: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1nj... IPL Match Reaction - Mumbai Thump the Royals and RCB do the Unthinkable
Jack and Max are joined by TMS's Daniel Norcorss to review the latest two games in the IPL: Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad. As we approach the final stages, Mumbai are in need of a huge NRR swing, and theywere given the perfect opportunity against a hapless Royals side on a pudding of a wicket. RCB then had the chance to sneak into the top two, but somehow managed to blow it by losing to bottom side Sunrisers Hyderabad. Where does that leave things as we head into the final four fixtures? Who do we think will make it? And what are the white things on Jack's headphones?

Ross and Max discuss the action from the latest two IPL games, KKR v PBKS and CSK v SRH. KKR will feel they should have got the win but a combination of bad selection, bad catching and bad umpiring meant that PBKS took the points. IPL Recap - SRH upset RR, DC fall against KKR and MI squeak past PBKS!
Ross and Max review the latest games in the IPL: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajastahn Royals, Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai  Indians vs Punjab Kings.    SRH mixed things up and finally manage to find a winning formula, albeit likely too late for their own hopes. However, their rivals will look on with interest as 4 teams fight it out for 4th spot.     Delhi Capitals could have secured a playoff spot but their poor batting on a slow surface saw them succumb to Narine and co.    And slow starters Mumbai Indians finally got started, but had to leave it late against PBKS with Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard blasting them  over the line.

Punjab Kings of Comedy v Rajasthan Royals - IPL 2021 - Reaction - The Greatest Choke We've Seen!
Join our live reaction to Punjab Kings v Rajasthan Royals (PBKS v RR). Jaiswal started brilliantly for The Royals, as they set off in pursuit of a huge total. Deepak Hooda and Adil Rashid received some treatment before Mohammed Shami and Arsdheep Singh fought back at the death to leave things well poised for the second innings.  And that innings produced one of the all time funniest conclusions of all time. IPL Re-Preview - Part Two - Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals - Can They Hold Their Advantage?
Part two of our IPL 2021 second half preview (feat. Dan Weston),  continues with Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. The current top four in the tournament. Mumbai Indians have slightly underperformed expectations, but will be moving to  more favourable conditions for the second half of their tournament.  Royal Challengers Bangalore, on the other hand, have outperformed  initial expectations, proving that they got their recruitment right for  this year. CSK have rebounded amazingly from 2020, featuring Moeen Ali, Jadeja,  and some great leadership from Dhoni. Delhi, meanwhile, have been lead  by Prithvi Shaw and Shikar Dhawan, who have score more than half their  runs between them. Can they hold their advantage? In part one we talk about the teams from the bottom half of the tournament. Can any of the stragglers put it together and go on a run to make it into the top 4? Surely Sunrisers won't, they have been in disarray. Meanwhile KKR appear to have overpaid for some overseas cloggers, again. Punjab Kings were hotly tipped pre season, but are yet to ignite. England v India - Series Review - And T20 World Cup Squad Reaction
England v India has wrapped up as a 2-1 India win, or a 2-2 draw, or it hasn't wrapped up yet and they will play the final Test next year. The boys discuss this, revisit their (reasonably accurate) predictions, and talk about the deciding factors that lead to India's success. Lots of praise for Rohit Sharma, even more for Jasprit Bumrah, and an acknowledgement that Ollie Robinson did a good job. The boys also pick their combined XI from the series, does Bairstow make the cut? In part 2 (36.35) they move on to the T20 World Cup squads. Having already covered England and India it is time to chat about the other teams playing at the tournament. Who has god a decent chance? Who has blown their selection? England v India Fifth Test CANCELLED - Is someone to blame? What happens next? AND Our Reaction To England's World Cup Squad!
England's final Test of the summer against India has been cancelled. The teams were scheduled to face off in a fifth Test, with England having the chance of levelling the series, and India shooting for a 3-1 win. Unfortunately a COVID outbreak among the Indian coaching and support staff meant that the players were unwilling to play.  Jack Hope and Nakul Pande discuss the fallout from this. Is anyone at fault? Will the match be replayed? Was it the fault of the IPL? In among that carnage Yorkshire also chose to release their findings from their enquiry into racism at the club. Nakul explains that situaiton and what the potential implications are for those involved. England have named their squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup, in the UAE in October. There were few surprises, although they have decided to go with only one specialist spinner. Wood, Woakes, Curran or Willey will need to cover two of the seam bowling positions. And there will be questions about their best batting order? Will England regret not picking another spinner? Do they have other weaknesses? Is this a good squad? England vs India 5th Test Preview and India's T20 World Cup Squad Reaction - Kohli's chance for a triple crown?
England v India reaches its conclusion with England battling for a respectful draw and Virat Kohli has the opportunity to score the first goal in his potential captain's hat-trick of an overseas series win over England, RCB's IPL crown and India's world cup win.  We preview the final test at Old Trafford, asking if both teams finally decide to play two spinners (come on Virat, play Ashwin!), if Jonny Bairstow is more important to England than the Pope, will Joe Root continue to run Robinson and Anderson into the ground? We also wonder if this is the end of the line for Rahane and its the beginning of the Jadeja, Pant, Ashwin and Thakur middle-order extravaganza.  India have named their T20 World Cup squad which includes big news. England v India - Fourth Test Preview - Can India Bounce Back? - AND IPL Replacements!
England v India rumbles on, with the teams heading to the Oval for the fourth Test of the series. After being bowled out for 78 questions are being asked about this India side, whilst just a week ago everyone was predicting 4-0. Do they have the mentality to bounce back and take an unassaiblable lead this week? England meanwhile are boyant! However, they will need to make changes as Jos Buttler drops out of the side for the birth of his child. Will he play Tests again, and is Bairstow really the best option? Bowling wise they have the choice between rotating or sticking wth the same side. If they do make a change, who will come in? The IPL restarts in under a months time. Ahead of that the teams have released their replacement players lists. Dan Weston joins the podcast to talk about the winners and losers. Who has improved their side, and which players wouldn't even have got a job in the Blast? Adil Rashid gets a job for Punjab Kings. RCB make some great moves and snatch up Hasaranga. India meanwhile should probably keep the same XI, but may mix things up with Ashwin and Thakur waiting in the wings.  Will any of this make a difference? Do England have a chance? Will they roll out a green seamer? ALSO, The Hundred wraps up, and in part two we chat about the eliminator and finals. The Oval Invincibles Women and the Southern Brave Men reign supreme! We're sad that Dan Weston's Birmingham Phoenix didn't lift the cup, but it was a great tournament and we chat about our thoughts.  Find us: Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod Our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod Our sponsor: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/ Our channel membership: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1njF-8tUuQVbTZVyUaoBcQ/join Our website: www.thecricketpod.com

England v India - Second Test at Lord's - A Famous Indian Win, England Humiliated, Siraj Unstoppable, 1-0!
India took a famous victory against England in the second Test of their five match series, at the home of cricket, Lord's. Going into the final day all four results were possible, but a brilliant partnership from Bumrah and Shami gave India a commanding lead. To draw the game England only needed to bat 60 overs, however that was too much for them as Siraj, Bumrah and co. ran riot to give India a 1-0 win? What went wrong for England? How surprising was this win? Did the mind games work? England v India First Test Review & Second Test Preview - Root is Phenomenal, Bumrah Brilliant, And Will England Make Changes For The Second Test?
England took on India at Trent Bridge in the first Test of the series. A game that seesawed either way looked like it was India's to win until the rain came down on day five and ruined everything. During the Test England batted terribly, around Joe Root, who batted wonderfully. Meanwhile Bumrah was on fire for India, as he almost single handidly ran through the England order in the second innings.  In part two, the boys look forward to the second Test at Lords. Who will England select to balance their side? Can they afford to give Crawley and Lawrence another chance? And will India recall Ishant Sharma? England's C Team Sweep Pakistan, India B Head to Sri Lanka, England and India's Women Face Off and Australia Get Hammered!
Jack and Max are once again joined by Dan Weston to digest the smorgasbord of cricket that has been offer over the past week! In Part 1, we review the recent ODI series between England and Pakistan. Immediately after our preview episode the news came out that some cases of Covid in the England camp meant the naming of an entirely new team overnight. That was no issue for England though who impressively won every game of the three match series despite Babar Azam's classy 150 in the thrid match. We dissect the performances of the players who were called up and assess their chances of becoming a permanent fixture in the England series. In Part 2 we look forward to the T20 series between the same teams, and take a look ahead to the Indian white ball team's tour of Sri Lanka, who are once again in disarray. England took on New Zealand in the first Test of the summer and, unfortunately, the match was not a thriller. Jack, Ross and Max discuss Monday's IPL fixture between CSK and RR. CSK's batting order (mostly) all chipped in to put on a decent score of 188 from their 20 overs. In reply Buttler started well, but once he fell under the pressure of carrying a sub-par Royals side, the middle order disintegrated at the hands of Jadeja and Moeen Ali, giving CSK another comfortable win.  Just how bad are Rajasthan Royals, and why is Shivam Dube batting at 4? And are CSK actually in with a shout? Follow us on Twitter and Instagram @thecricketpod - and check out our sponsors Woodstock cricket!

Rajasthan Royals v Delhi Capitals - IPL - Post-match review - Chris Morris THE HERO
On IPL match day seven, Rajasthan Royals beat the Delhi Capitals in another thrilling fixture. Chris Morris was the hero for RR as they came from nowhere to steal victory at the death from the Capitals. Tom Curran was the fall guy for DC, why was he there and will he play again? Has Chris Morris paid off his enormous price tag, probably a fair bit of it? And was Tom Curran adopted? Before this match, Rajasthan Royals lost to Punjab Kings in their IPL opener, despite an awesome innings from Sanju Samson. Delhi, on the other hand, won their opener against Chennai Super Kings, with Prithvi Shaw the star of the show on that occasion.  Our Twitter and Instagram: @thecricketpod  Our sponsore: https://woodstockcricket.co.uk/  Our Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/thecricketpod Intro 0:00 Summary 2:20 Delhi Capitals Batting 3:50 Rajaasthan Royals batting 10:20 Tom Curran 21:10 Question 25:05 #RRvDC #IPL2021

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Royal Challengers Bangalore - IPL Post-match Review
Jack, Ross and Max discuss the day's play between SRH and RCB, with RCB taking the points to make it two wins from their first two. A first IPL 50 in 5 years for Glenn Maxwell set RCB on their way, and some questionable shot selection and wearing pitch combined to thwart SRH in their chase after they looked comfortable. Kolkata Knight Riders v Mumbai Indians - IPL - Post-match review - with RR v PBKS too!
On IPL match day five, Kolkata Knight Riders took on Mumbai Indians. KKR won their first match of the season, easily brushing aside SRH, thanks to great knocks from Rahul Tripathi and Nitish rana. Mumbai, meanwhile, lost their first match of the season (as usual), so will be looking to fight back hard in game 2. Today though, Mumbai were able to come back, both in terms of the IPL, but also miraculously in the final 5 overs of the match! Sunrisers Hyderabad v Kolkata Knight Riders - IPL - Post-match review
On IPL match day three, Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Kolkata Knight Riders. Last year SRH made the play-offs before losing to Delhi in the semi-final, meanwhile Kolkata Knight Riders were knocked out on net run rate for the second year in a row. With Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan leading the line for SRH, many people have tipped them as one of the favourites for this year's IPL. On the other hand, KKR fans will be hoping that their big stars (Andre Russell, Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, etc.) are able to finally come to the party.  On this episode the boys are joined by DJ from the Edges and Sledges Podcast: https://youtube.com/channel/UCXuz5pvz... You can follow The Cricket Podcast on Twitter and Instagram @thecricketpod #SRHvKKR #IPL2021

Chennai Super Kings v Delhi Capitals - Raina's Return Not Enough for CSK
Jack, Ross and Max are joined by Daniel Norcross (@norcrosscricket) to discuss the second game of the 2021 IPL (and our third attempt at a livestream) between CSK and Delhi Capitals. There was much to look at going into this game with the spotlight on Pant's captaincy, the return of Suresh Raina and two Curran brothers facing off. Sam got the better of the individual battle, but team Tom came out on top as Delhi cantered to a 7 wicket win. How good were Dhawan and Shaw and should CSK fans start panicking already? Jack, Ross and Max are joined once again by Dan Weston to discuss the opening game of the 2021 IPL. The game between MI and RCB went down to the wire, with Harshal Patel's five-wicket haul and AB de Villier's late 48 swinging the game in RCB's favour. Are there causes for concern for Mumbai? Mumbai Indians - IPL Preview: Part 8 - Do They Have The Best T20 Team in History?
The 2020 Champions, Mumbai Indians, are the last team we preview in our eight part 2021 IPL preview. They were so dominant in 2020 that the discussion about their side has transcended commentary on last year, and the great debate is now whether they are the best T20 team ever. With a team that includs: Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya- they certainly have some of the greatest players of all time.  Are their spinners a weakness? Delhi Capitals - IPL Preview: Part 7 - Can Rishabh Pant lead them to glory? Why is Steve Smith here?
Our IPL Preview series continues with Delhi Capitals. Last year the Capitals finished as runners-up, although, in reality, they were a very distant second to Mumbai Indians. What appeared to let them down was a lack of firepower with the bat, which made their decision to pick up Steve Smith at the auction extremely puzzling. Overall though, their team is still decent, with players like Rabada, Nortje and, most notably, Rishabh Pant providing a very strong core to their squad. How will their batting line-up shape up? Will the lack of a leg spinner cause them problems? Can Tom Curran step into Kagiso Rabada's shoes? Our IPL Preview series continues with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last year SRH  made it to the play-offs, as they found form towards the end of the  tournament. Eventually they were knocked out by Delhi in the Qualifier. They have kept a similar squad for 2021, opting against mixing things up, which is understandable when your team includes Bhuvi, Natarajan, Warner, and Rashid Khan. The big news is the addition of Jason Roy, for reasons unknown.    How do Roy, Bairstow, Williamson and Warner fit into one side? Following that, they decided to detonate their squad and have made some significant changes to their team. Aaron Finch, Moeen Ali, Chris Morris  are all out, with Kyle Jamieson, Glenn Maxwell and Dan Christian coming in as replacements. Kolkata Knight Riders - IPL 2021 Preview: Part 4 - Dre Russ, Morgan, Cummins, But It Still Doesn't Feel "Right"
Our IPL Preview series continues with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Last year KKR missed out on the play-offs despite having one of the most explosive teams at the tournament. Injuries, poor form and a dodgy action conspired to foil them, as their season never got going, and eventually fizzled out. It looks like the cast of players is there to support a good run in the tournament, but questions still remain about the fitness of Dre Russ, the captaincy of Morgan, and whether they can fit Cummins and Ferguson into the same team.  Can they finally put it all together? Punjab Kings - IPL 2021 Preview: Part 3 - Can KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Jhye Richardson and co. Complete The Comeback Kings' Dream?
Our IPL Preview series continues with the Punjab Kings. Last year the artists formerly known as Kings XI fell at the last hurdle, as their amazing comeback surge wilted in the final games. This season they will be looking to go one better, with the additions of Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith providing the bowling they lacked during 2020. This means that the Punjab Kings actually look quite good on paper, surely something will go wrong between now and the tournament- but, until it does, Kings fans should be happy! Do this team have enough to make the play-offs? Will they miss Glenn Maxwell? And will Dawid Malan get a game? India v England - 3rd ODI - Pant Goes Ballistic, Curran Comes So Close, and India WIN
India won the third ODI against England, to clinch the series 2-1, and conclude England’s tour of India. In a thrilling match England came up just short, despite an awesome performance from Sam Curran. The Indian bowling, led by Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur kept pegging England back with key wickets throughout the innings, and the away team was unable to score as freely as they had in the second match. India showed a willingness to adapt and come away from the series with plenty of questions answered.  How good is Rishabh Pant? Where did England go wrong with the bat? Ep 86: India Win T20 Series, Our Combined India/England XI, and Jofra Archer Injury Nightmare.
India came from behind to take down the 5 match T20 international series, versus England. In part one the boys from The Cricket Podcast, Jack, Ross and Max, discuss how this happened. What did India learn across the series? Why are they now better set up for success? And who is winning the white ball arms race between the two nations? Later, they pick a combined India/England XI. This ends up being slightly India heavy, which reflects the series. A couple of big names miss out, and in the end everyone is worried the team they have picked is slightly underwhelming. Let us know what you think on Twitter.  In part 3, they preview the ODI series. England look like they will rotate, with Parkinson, Livingstone and Topley waiting for a game. India, on the other hand, have put out their strongest XI (less Bumrah and Jadeja). Second T20: India Bounce Back to Thrash England with Kishan Starring on Debut
India took on England in the second T20 of their five-match series. Max and Ross from The Cricket Podcast discuss how India bounced back to comfortably beat England. India were brilliant throughout; picking the right players like rockstar Ishan Kishan who impressed on debut, executing smart bowling plans and batting as a T20 team instead of an ODI team! England could not find the same fluency as Friday's game as they struggled batting first and they got their selection wrong after Mark Wood was ruled out with an injury with Tom Curran struggling to back up his £550k IPL price tag. Ep 85: India v England Test Series Recap & T20 Preview
The Test series between India and England is over, ending in 3-1 win for  India. Jack, Ross and Max get together for a review of the Test series and a look back at the performances of both teams. What was wrong with England's strategy and how badly wrong did they get their selection? How  can they improve their batting against spin?    As for India, are there any concerns with the performance of their top  six? And do they have a selection dilemma after Axar's excellent  performances?   In part 2 (44mins) the boys turn their attention to the T20 series. Why does Jack think India are going to lose 4-1? Ep 82: India THRASH England & IPL Auction Preview
India v England and the IPL auction are the big topics on this week’s episode of The Cricket Podcast. Jack, Ross and Max get together to discuss both topics, in an episode which is effectively two shows in one. Part one, (from 0:11) covers India v England, starting with a long discussion about the stars of the India team. Rohit Sharma bossed England in the first innings, before Ashwin took over with 8 wickets and a century of his own. England meanwhile looked clueless, can they do anything to bounce back? The match was also not without controversy, and this is a topic of debate. Will Kohli be banned for the third Test? Why were the umpires so bad? And was the pitch acceptable? Part 2, (from 1:14) covers the IPL auction. The boys are joined by cricket analyst Dan Weston to talk about the IPL Auction. Featuring an in depth discussion of each team’s needs and who they are likely to bid for at the auction. Ep 81: India Beaten by Brilliant England & Second Test Preview
On this episode of The Cricket Podcast, Jack, Max and Ross discuss England’s shocking victory over India in Chennai. There was little optimism prior to the first Test of this series, but England deserved their victory as they swept India aside. How did they pull this off? In part two, the boys turn their attention to the second Test. Both teams will be making changes, England to rotate, and India from a tactical perspective. How will the two sides line up for the second Test and does anyone want to change their prediction? Finally, a lot of other cricket took place last week. James Vince was heroic in the BBL, Mitchell Starc is out of the IPL and Pakistan were resurgent at home. However the big story was about the West Indies, who completed a historic win over Bangladesh.
