Ep. 210 June 1, 2025 | “Tables: Table of Intimacy” | Luke 5:27-32 | Adam Woods

Jesus didn’t just preach from pulpits or perform miracles in crowds—He shared meals at tables. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is constantly going to, coming from, or sitting down at a table. And those tables weren’t just about food—they were about connection, transformation, and discipleship.

In this first message of our summer series, Tables, Adam Woods walks us through Jesus’ meal at Levi’s house—a powerful moment of intimacy with tax collectors and sinners. This is more than a story about a meal—it’s a picture of how Jesus meets us in the mess, welcomes us as we are, and invites us into relationship.

We also kick off The 1,000 Tables Challenge—an invitation to intentionally gather with others around a table, with Jesus at the center. Whether it’s a coffee meet-up, dinner with friends, or a neighborhood BBQ, every table can be sacred when Jesus is present.

💬 Let us know when you meet! Submit your table moments using the 1,000 Tables form on our app or website.

🪑 Pull up a seat—Jesus is already at the table.

What happens after the mountaintop moment? What do you do when life plunges you from triumph to the valley—when you’re exhausted, lonely, or completely aimless?

In this powerful conclusion to our Delivered series, Student Minister Austin Garrett walks us through 1 Kings 19, where the prophet Elijah goes from bold and victorious to broken and burned out. From a fire-filled showdown on Mt. Carmel to a quiet whisper in a cave, Elijah’s journey mirrors our own when life drains us dry.

Through three powerful scenes—the Wilderness, the Cave, and the Mountain—we see a God who doesn’t abandon us in our emptiness, but instead meets us with what we truly need:

  • Rest when we’re exhausted

  • Presence and understanding when we’re lonely

  • Purpose and perspective when we’re aimless

💬 “In every situation, the Lord provides exactly what we need.”

That’s the heartbeat of this message.

This sermon isn’t just a story about Elijah—it’s about you. Whether you’re running on fumes, crying out in isolation, or searching for your next step, this is a reminder: God is not done. He sees you. He provides.

Ep. 207 May 11, 2025 | “Delivered: Fear To Hope” | 1 Kings 18:1-19 | Adam Woods

Have you ever been paralyzed by fear—fear of what’s ahead, fear of failure, fear that God might not come through? You’re not alone. In this message from our Delivered series, we walk with Elijah and Obadiah through a time of deep drought, danger, and doubt. But what we discover is that God is not absent in the fear—He is actively delivering His people into HOPE.

Obadiah’s story reminds us that even faithful believers can feel overwhelmed. But God, through His word and His people, reignites courage and confidence. Elijah shows us what it looks like to trust the voice of God, even when the enemy is strong and the circumstances are bleak.

🕊️ In this message, you’ll learn how to:

  • Look back to God’s faithfulness

  • Learn God’s promises

  • Lean on God’s people

  • Leap forward in faith

Let God move you from fear to hope. Don’t let fear write your story—let your Deliverer do that.

Ep. 206 May 4, 2025 | “Delivered: Death To Life” | 1 Kings 17 | Adam Woods

Is there something in your life that feels dead? A relationship? Your purpose? Your hope? In this opening message of our DELIVERED series, Pastor Adam Woods takes us to the life of Elijah in 1 Kings 17 and reminds us of this powerful truth: God doesn’t just rescue—He resurrects.

Elijah faced impossible circumstances—drought, isolation, and despair. A desperate widow stood at the edge of starvation. A child lost his breath. And in each moment, God showed that He is the Deliverer who brings life from death—then and now.

In this sermon, discover three foundational truths about what it takes to move from death to life:

  1. It requires a God who is ALIVE.

  2. It requires a God who SPEAKS.

  3. It requires FAITH in that God.

 And ultimately—it requires JESUS.

No matter what feels hopeless or beyond saving in your life today, Jesus specializes in breathing life into dead things. Because through Him, death doesn’t have the final word—resurrection does.

🕊️ Your Deliverer is still delivering.

🕊️ From DEATH to LIFE—through faith in His Word.

Ep. 205 April 27, 2025 | “The Disciples: Easter People” | Adam Woods

Today, we conclude our Easter People series with an unforgettable truth: The Resurrection changes everything.

In this powerful message from Luke 24:33-53, Pastor Adam Woods takes us through the final moments of Jesus’ time with His disciples after His resurrection. From startled disbelief to overwhelming joy, we see the transformation that happens when people encounter the living Christ.

Easter People are defined by three characteristics:

➔ Easter People Find Peace in His Presence

➔ Easter People Testify to His Truth

➔ Easter People Worship Him in Wonder

When we realize that Jesus is alive—truly alive—we are called to live differently. To find peace not in our circumstances but in His presence. To boldly testify to His resurrection and His love. To worship Him with awe and joy, knowing that He reigns forever.

If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like to live like Easter is true — this message will encourage and challenge you.

Jesus is alive.

His Word is trustworthy.

His people are Easter People.

Let’s live like it.

Ep. 203 April 13, 2025 | “Peter: Easter People” | Austin Garrett

Have you ever felt like your mistakes define you? Like shame has too strong a grip?

In this powerful message, Austin Garrett continues our Easter People series by walking through the life of Peter—one of Jesus’ closest followers who knew both the highs of bold faith and the crushing lows of failure and regret. Yet, after Jesus’ resurrection, Peter learned a life-changing truth: shame has no hold on him anymore—and the same is true for us today.

Through Peter’s story, we discover three powerful responses we can live out because of the resurrection:

  • Get out of the boat and run to Jesus

  • Love Him to the max

  • Follow Him to the end

Because Jesus is alive, guilt and shame no longer have the final word. Forgiveness, freedom, and purpose await anyone who will run to Him.

“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

You don’t have to stay stuck in guilt. You are invited to live a life of freedom and follow Jesus boldly—just like Peter.

Ep. 202 April 6, 2025 | “Thomas: Easter People” | Adam Woods

When doubt clouds your faith, how will you respond?

In this message from our Easter People series, Adam Woods shares the story of Thomas—often remembered as “Doubting Thomas”—and shows us how encountering the resurrected Jesus transformed his doubt into bold devotion.

We all wrestle with questions, uncertainties, and struggles of faith. But just like Thomas, we’re not stuck where we start. Jesus meets us right where we are—offering His presence, His proof, and His peace—and invites us to move from disbelief to deep, life-changing faith.

Through Thomas’ journey, we learn four powerful steps to build greater maturity:

  • Talk About Jesus

  • Take It Easy On Those Who Doubt

  • Testify With Words and Actions

  • Trust His Word

Even when we can’t see, we can still believe—and in believing, find life in His name.

“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29)

Ep. 200 March 23, 2025 | “Build: HUGD” | Adam Woods

Ep. 200 March 23, 2025 | “Build: HUGD” | Adam Woods

In the final message of our BUILD series, Adam Woods wraps it all up with a powerful and personal call to action: If we’re going to BUILD greater maturity and better facilities for God’s glory, the Church must be HUGD.

Yep, HUGD. It’s not a typo—it’s a helpful acronym to remember four core truths about what it means to be the body of Christ:

🙇 H – Humble

We’re not the center of the story—Jesus is. Paul reminds us to think of ourselves with sober judgment. Pride leads to a fall, but humility brings us together.

🤝 U – United

Though many, we are one body—diverse in gifts, backgrounds, and perspectives, yet beautifully unified by Jesus. Without humility, unity is impossible.

🎁 G – Gifted

Every one of us has been given “grace gifts” from God—not to hoard, but to use for the good of the Church and the mission of Jesus. Your gift matters. Your role matters.

🔥 D – Devoted

Transformation doesn’t happen by accident. Paul’s vision in Romans 12 calls us to be devoted to sincere love, joy, patience, prayer, hospitality, and humble service—even when it’s hard.

💭 So… are you HUGD?

Are you choosing humility? Living united with others? Using your gifts for the Kingdom? Living devoted to Jesus in every season?

This final sermon challenges each of us to ask these questions and take our next step—because the success of BUILD doesn’t just depend on plans and construction—it depends on us being the Church Jesus calls us to be.

💡 Ready to take your next step?

Pray. Serve. Use your gifts. Commit to community.

And let’s BUILD a church that’s Humble, United, Gifted, and Devoted—together.

Ep. 199 March 16, 2025 | “Build: Better Facilities” | Adam Woods

Ep. 199 March 16, 2025 | “Build: Better Facilities” | Adam Woods

In Week 3 of our BUILD series, Adam Woods brings a powerful and creative message from Luke 5—where a paralyzed man is lowered through the roof to get to Jesus. But what if this moment in Capernaum… looks a lot like Sunday mornings at The Crossing?

Adam challenges us to see the connection we can’t unsee—the same kinds of people, the same kinds of moments, the same Jesus at work. The faithful, the skeptical, the paralyzed, the crowd, and even the curious—they’re all here. Just like they were that day in Capernaum.

💡 In This Message You’ll Discover:

  • Why recognizing where your heart is each Sunday matters

  • The importance of confession as the starting point for spiritual growth

  • How we can join the faithful in bringing people to Jesus—no matter the obstacles

  • The call to “wreck the roof”—removing barriers so others can meet Christ

  • How BUILDing better facilities is about more than space—it’s about discipleship and transformation

🏡 This isn’t about building bigger for the sake of comfort. It’s about building better so that more people can encounter Jesus, be discipled, and grow into faithful followers who develop faithful followers.

🙌 Whether you’re all-in, on the fence, or just showing up, this message invites you to ask: “Who am I today?” And, more importantly, “What’s my next step toward Jesus?”

🔨 Let’s confess. Let’s remove obstacles. Let’s WRECK THE ROOF.

Let’s BUILD.

Ep. 198 March 9, 2025 | “Build: Building Greater Maturity” | Austin Garrett

In this message, Austin Garrett, Student Minister at The Crossing, unpacks what it means to BUILD Greater Maturity in our faith. Just like in life, there comes a time when we have to grow up spiritually—moving from spiritual milk to solid food, just as Hebrews 5 challenges us to do.

🚀 In This Sermon, You’ll Discover:

🔹 Why spiritual maturity is essential for every follower of Jesus

🔹 How to move beyond spiritual complacency and take your next step

🔹 The importance of CONNECTING, DEVELOPING, and SERVING

🔹 What we can learn from the early church in Acts about growing in faith

🔹 How your maturity impacts not just you—but others coming to know Jesus

💡 What’s Your Next Step?

*Are you connected? How’s your relationship with God and His people?

* Are you developing? Are you growing deeper in your faith daily?

* Are you serving? Your faith grows when you serve others in the name of Jesus.

🔥 100% Involvement Starts Now!

At The Crossing, we believe every follower of Jesus has a role in building greater maturity. Whether it’s serving at the Great Day of Service, joining a Life Group, or stepping into a new area of faith, the time to grow is now.

📖 “And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” - Acts 2:47

When we commit to growing in Christ, it impacts our lives and the lives of those around us.

👉 Ready to take your next step? Join us as we BUILD Greater Maturity together! 💪

🚧 IT’S TIME TO BUILD! 🚧

God is moving in powerful ways at The Crossing! As we step into the next three years, we are following His lead with a new vision: BUILD.

💪 BUILD Greater Maturity – Deepening our faith, growing as devoted followers of Jesus, and equipping others to do the same.

🏗 BUILD Better Facilities – Expanding our space to make room for more lives to be transformed by the Gospel.

📖 Ephesians 4:12“To equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”

Why BUILD?

✔️ Our church is growing, and we need more space to disciple and serve.

✔️ Our kids and students need room to learn, grow, and connect with Jesus.

✔️ Our community is searching, and we want to ensure there’s always room for one more.

🔥 How Can You Be Part of BUILD?

1️⃣ PRAY. Ask God how He wants you to participate.

2️⃣ ENGAGE. Step into serving, giving, and growing.

3️⃣ SHARE. Invite others to join us in this mission.

🛑 Will you take a moment to pray?

🙏 “Lord, provide success for Your Kingdom through BUILD. Show me how to participate in what You’re doing at The Crossing.”

Ep. 196 February 23, 2025 | “Lifeline: People of Prayer” | Adam Woods

Ep. 196 February 23, 2025 | “Lifeline: People of Prayer” | Adam Woods

Prayer is not just something we do—it’s who we are as followers of Jesus. In this final message of our Lifeline: Connecting to God Through Prayer series, we explore Acts 12 and how the early church was marked by bold, persistent, and expectant prayer.

📖 Key Takeaways from This Sermon:

✔️ A Praying Church Prays. Prayer isn’t the last resort—it’s the first response. When the church in Acts faced a crisis, their immediate action was to pray earnestly to God. (Acts 12:5)

✔️ Prayer Produces Results. Even when we don’t see it, God is working. Peter was imprisoned, but through the prayers of the church, he was set free by an angel! (Acts 12:6-10)

✔️ Results Cause Reactions. Some rejoiced, others doubted, and some rejected the miracle. But the church kept praying and believing. (Acts 12:12-19)

✔️ Testimonies Need to Be Shared. Peter immediately told others what God had done. When God moves, we must share it! (Acts 12:17)

✔️ Prayer Changes Generations. The prayers of that early church still impact us today. Our prayers today will shape eternity.

🔥 Challenge:PRAY FOR ONE!

🙏 Who is one person in your life who needs Jesus?

🙏 Who is one person who needs freedom, hope, and salvation?

🙏 Will you commit to praying for one and inviting them to church—especially this Easter?

📖 Key Scripture:Acts 12:1-17

🙌 Application Challenge: Put the name of your ONE at the top of your prayer list. Pray daily for their heart to be open to Jesus.

💬 Who is your ONE? Drop their initials in the comments, and we’ll pray with you!

Ep. 195 February 16, 2025 | “Lifeline: Problems of Prayer” | Adam Woods

Have you ever struggled with prayerlessness? Do you wish you could pray more, pray better, and pray bigger prayers? In this message from our Lifeline: Connecting to God Through Prayer series, we dive into John 15:1-5 to discover that prayer is not just something we do—it’s our very identity as Jesus-followers.

🔹 Key Takeaways from this Sermon:

✔️ Prayerlessness is an identity issue. When we struggle in prayer, it’s often because we’ve forgotten who we are—we are branches, not the vine. Our job is to remain connected to Jesus.

✔️ Prayer is our lifeline. It’s how we abide in Christ, draw our strength from Him, and bear fruit in our lives.

✔️ Prayer is not about doing more, but about being with Jesus. It’s not a religious obligation; it’s about a relationship.

✔️ Big prayers come from abiding in Christ. When we remain in Him, our prayers grow in boldness, depth, and expectancy.

✔️ Seasons of struggle in prayer are normal. Instead of shame, they should serve as a signal—an opportunity to reconnect with the Vine.

📖 Key Scripture: John 15:1-5

🛠 Application Challenge: When you notice prayerlessness creeping in, let it remind you to check your connection to Jesus. Spend time with Him, listen, talk, and simply be a branch.

🔔 Let’s become a church that is not just filled with people who pray, but people who are prayers—where prayer is who we are, not just what we do.

Ep. 193 February 2, 2025 | “Lifeline: Priority of Prayer” | Adam Woods

Are you feeling spiritually adrift, overwhelmed, or disconnected from God? Prayer is not just a last resort—it’s our lifeline. In the first sermon of our new series, Lifeline: Connecting to God Through Prayer, Senior Minister Adam Woods unpacks Matthew 21:12-13, where Jesus flips tables in the temple to restore it as a house of prayer.

Prayer is more than a ritual or a religious duty—it’s the very connection that anchors us to God’s Presence, Power, and Purpose. In this message, we explore:

🛟 Why prayer must be our first response, not our last resort

🛟 How the Church (and we as individuals) are called to be a House of Prayer

🛟 How prioritizing time with God leads to joy, peace, and transformation

🛟 Practical steps to deepen our prayer lives, including learning to listen to God

As we begin this four-week journey, let’s rediscover the life-giving power of prayer and commit to becoming a people who pray continually and seek God’s presence above all else.

📖 Scripture Reference: Matthew 21:12-13

🙏 Key Themes: Prayer, Spiritual Growth, Presence of God, Connection with Christ

Ep. 192 January 26, 2025 | “Ministry 101:Pleasures of Ministry” | Mark Magee & Adam Woods

Join us for the final sermon in our Ministry 101 series, “The Pleasures of Ministry,” on this special Baton Sunday. Senior Minister Mark Magee reflects on the joys and fulfillment of serving in ministry as he officially passes the baton of leadership to Adam Woods, our new Senior Minister at The Crossing.

Rooted in Mark 3:13-14, this message explores what pleases Jesus in ministry and how we experience true joy when we live to please Him. Mark highlights two key commitments for every follower of Jesus: Withness—spending intentional time with Jesus—and Witness—sharing what we’ve received from Him with others.

This milestone moment reminds us that ministry is not just for church leaders but for everyone. At The Crossing, we believe everyone is a minister, everyone is a missionary, and everyone follows the Master.

Celebrate with us as we honor God’s faithfulness, reflect on 32 years of dedicated service, and step into an exciting new chapter under Adam’s leadership.

Ep. 191 January 19, 2025 | “Ministry 101:Problems of Ministry” | Mark Magee & Adam Woods

In this continuation of our Ministry 101 series, Mark Magee dives into the problems of ministry, offering insights and encouragement for navigating the challenges that come with following Jesus and serving in ministry. From Mark 8:31-33, we see that even Jesus faced difficulties, including opposition, misunderstandings, and struggles with those closest to Him. If Jesus encountered problems, we should expect them too!

Mark explores common ministry challenges, including:

• Navigating difficult relationships with people.

• Staying connected to Jesus in the midst of serving.

• Battling arrogance, ignorance, and consumerism.

• Recognizing the spiritual enemy working to steal, kill, and destroy.

But here’s the good news: Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33), and through Him, so can we! 💪

Whether you’re actively serving in ministry or simply walking as a devoted follower of Christ, this message is a reminder that we are all called to minister, serve, and shine His light.

🙏 Let’s face the challenges together, equipped by God’s Word and strengthened by His promises.

Welcome to week two of our Ministry 101 series at The Crossing! This week Mark Magee and Adam Woods dive into a practical ministry lesson straight from the life of Jesus. This week’s message focuses on the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 (Mark 6:31-44), a moment filled with essential ministry training for His disciples—and for us today! This is more than a picnic on a hillside—it’s Ministry 101, and these lessons apply to every single one of us who claim to follow Jesus. At The Crossing,

🙌 Lessons from Mark 6:

• Ministry flows out of our time with Jesus.

• See people with compassion and lead them to the Shepherd.

• Seek God’s ideas, not just “good” ideas.

• Recognize our own limitations and rely on God’s power.

• Only give to others what we’ve received from Jesus.

Everyone’s a Minister, Everyone’s a Missionary—let’s live it out together in 2025!

In this heartfelt message from our A Gospel Christmas series, Adam Woods dives into Luke’s account of the Christmas story, reminding us of the certainty that comes with the birth of Jesus. While the world offers a magical and often confusing version of Christmas, Luke’s gospel presents the truth—a reality anchored in God’s faithfulness and fulfilled promises.

Key Takeaways from Luke’s Gospel:

Ep. 185 December 15, 2024 | “A Gospel Christmas: Mark ” | Mark Magee

In this powerful message from our A Gospel Christmas series, Senior Minister Mark Magee brings us Mark’s unique perspective on the Christmas story. While Mark skips the nativity details we know and love, he dives straight into the Good News—declaring Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God, and the true King who brings freedom, forgiveness, and salvation.

Key Takeaways from Mark’s Gospel:

🎄 Coronation: Jesus is the anointed King here to rule and rescue His people.

🎄 Revelation: In Jesus, we see the full glory and deity of God revealed.

Ep. 183 December 1, 2024 | “Marked: Marked As A Disciple ” | Mark Magee

Join Senior Minister Mark Magee as he concludes the MARKED series, a deep dive into the Gospel of Mark designed to reveal the “Godness” of Jesus. From His miracles to His teachings, Mark shows us that Jesus is not just a teacher or prophet—He is the Messiah, the Son of God, worthy of our total surrender and devotion.

In this final message, we explore Mark 8:34-38, where Jesus outlines the essentials of discipleship:

✝️ Deny Yourself: Surrender your self-centered desires and let Jesus take the throne of your life.

✝️ Take Up Your Cross: Die to yourself, choosing a life of obedience and total allegiance to Jesus.

✝️ Follow Him: Live by faith, learning His ways, and living out His commands.

Mark challenges us to count the cost of discipleship and reminds us that the stakes are eternal. What do you want—to gain the world or to save your soul?

Key Takeaways:

✔️ Admit Your Want: Do you truly desire what Jesus offers?

✔️ Accept His Word: Embrace His radical call to discipleship.

✔️ Adopt His Values: Prioritize eternal treasures over temporary gains.

✔️ Advance His Cause: Boldly live out and proclaim your faith.

✔️ Acknowledge the Consequences: Understand the eternal weight of your choices.

Let this final sermon in the MARKED series inspire you to live a life devoted to Jesus, following Him wholeheartedly.

📖 “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)

Ep. 182 November 24, 2024 | “Marked: Marked by Following Jesus ” | Adam Woods

What’s the “one thing” holding you back from fully following Jesus? In this powerful message, Adam Woods unpacks the story of the Rich Young Ruler in Mark 10:17-27. This man, who seemingly had it all—wealth, youth, and influence—walked away sad after encountering Jesus because his heart was entangled in idolatry.

This sermon challenges us to examine our own lives and identify the idols that take the throne of our hearts. Whether it’s wealth, approval, power, or worldly success, these counterfeit gods keep us from fully surrendering to Jesus.

Key Takeaways:

🧡 Rejoice: Salvation and freedom are possible, but only through God’s grace.

🙏 Reach Out: Ask the Lord to search your heart and reveal the idols you cling to.

Replace: Remove the idols and replace them with devotion to Jesus as your one true King.

Through the story of the Rich Young Ruler, Adam reminds us of the transformative power of surrender. Let go of the “one thing” and follow Jesus with your whole heart.

📖 “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)

Ep. 181 November 17, 2024 | “Marked: Marked To See Clearly” | Adam Woods

What does it mean to see clearly—spiritually? In this powerful sermon, Adam Woods dives into Mark 8:1-38, exploring how Jesus, the “Great Optometrist,” addresses the spiritual sight issues that hinder us from fully understanding and following Him.

Using personal stories, biblical insights, and real-life applications, Adam unpacks four common spiritual vision problems:

👓 Color Blindness (Avoidance): Missing God’s work in our lives due to doubt or fear.

👓 Blindness (Ignorance): Being blinded by sin or misunderstanding of God’s truth.

👓 Near-Sightedness (Self-Centeredness): Focusing only on ourselves and our desires.

👓 Far-Sightedness (Worldliness): Living for temporary gains while neglecting eternal truths.

Key Takeaways:

Deny Yourself: Surrender your self-centeredness and trust in Jesus.

Take Up Your Cross: Confront sin and embrace the life-transforming grace of God.

Follow Jesus: Fix your eyes on Him, allowing His truth to guide your every step.

Adam reminds us that Jesus’ words are as relevant today as they were 2,000 years ago. Spiritual clarity comes from focusing on Christ, letting go of distractions, and allowing Him to transform our vision for His glory.

💡 “Fix your eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…” (Hebrews 12:2)

Let this sermon inspire you to clear your spiritual vision and walk boldly in faith.

Ep. 178 October 27, 2024 | “Marked: Marked For Unity” | Adam Woods

In this message from Adam Woods, we explore the power of unity and the dangers of division as taught by Jesus in Mark 3. Drawing from Abraham Lincoln’s “House Divided” speech, Adam parallels Lincoln’s warning about a divided nation with the teachings of Jesus: “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” This message challenges us to identify the forces that divide our lives, families, churches, and communities—and to take practical steps to unite.

Adam addresses three causes of division: power struggles, inconsistent beliefs, and ignoring spiritual roots. He also highlights Acts 2 as the ultimate model for unity among God’s people, offering seven “ships” to help us live united in our faith: Ownership, Discipleship, Leadership, Fellowship, Stewardship, Worship, and Lordship.

Join us as we dig deep into these biblical principles, discovering how they apply to our lives and how they strengthen our connection with God and each other.

Ep. 177 October 20, 2024 | “Marked: Marked For His Mission” | Adam Woods

In this powerful message from Adam Woods, we continue our “Marked” series, focusing on the life and teachings of Jesus in Mark 7. Adam explores the deep and often challenging concepts of tradition, cleanliness, and how Jesus redefined what it means to be part of God’s mission. Jesus teaches that it’s not what goes into a person that defiles them, but what comes out—showing us that God’s mission is for all people, not just a select group.

Through stories of Jesus’ interactions with the Pharisees, Gentiles, and those considered “unclean,” we learn that everyone is part of God’s redemptive plan. Adam reminds us to shift our perspectives, repent from seeing others as “disgusting,” and instead embrace our calling to love and reach out to all people, just as Jesus did.

Join us as we dive into this transformative teaching and explore how we can be truly marked by the mission of Jesus—a mission that reaches across all boundaries and invites everyone into God’s Kingdom.

Ep. 176 October 13, 2024 | “Marked: Marked As Lord Over The Storm” | Mark Magee

In this sermon from the “Marked” series, Senior Minister Mark Magee dives into one of his favorite moments in Jesus’ life—when Jesus calms the storm in Mark 4:35-41. This incredible story is about much more than just a physical storm; it’s a powerful reminder that Jesus is always with us, even in the midst of life’s fiercest challenges.

Mark explores the deeper symbolism of the sea in ancient times and shows how this passage teaches us about faith, fear, and the true nature of Jesus. As the disciples witness Jesus calming the storm with just a word, they are left asking, “Who is this? Even the wind and waves obey Him!” This story demonstrates that Jesus is not just a great teacher or rabbi—He is God with us, with the power to command even the forces of nature.

Mark also shares practical lessons on overcoming fear and reminds us that Jesus is always in the boat with us, no matter what storms we face. When fear sneaks up, we can run to Jesus and find peace in His presence. If He’s not panicked, neither should we be.

Ep. 175 October 6, 2024 | “Marked: Marked As A Foodie” | Mark Magee

Join us as Senior Minister Mark Magee dives back into our "Marked" series, exploring a unique perspective on Jesus’ ministry—His love for sharing meals. In this message, Mark confesses his own love for food and reveals how food played a central role in Jesus' life and ministry.

In Mark 2:13-22, we see Jesus eating with tax collectors and sinners, demonstrating that meals are more than just about food; they’re about community, connection, and welcoming others. Jesus used meals as a way to build relationships and share God's grace, and Mark reminds us that we can follow this example in our everyday lives.

Mark challenges us to take Jesus’ method seriously—eat with those who don’t yet know Him. Whether it’s a meal with friends, neighbors, or co-workers, sharing food is a powerful tool for discipleship and connection. So this week, let’s practice Jesus’ strategy and invite someone to share a meal. Just eat, talk, listen, and let God work through the time together.

Ep. 169 August 25, 2024 | “Marked- By Legalism” | Austin Garrett

Ep. 169 August 25, 2024 | “Marked- By Legalism” | Austin Garrett

Welcome to today's message by Austin Garrett, Student Minister at THE CROSSING. In this video, Austin reflects on the intriguing balance between rules and relationship in our faith journey, using a personal story and a biblical lesson from Mark 3:1-6.

As Austin dives into Mark 3:1-6, he examines an encounter between Jesus and the religious leaders of the time. Jesus heals a man with a shriveled hand on the Sabbath, a day strictly reserved for rest according to Jewish law. The Pharisees, more focused on rigid rule-following than the miraculous healing occurring before them, plot to kill Jesus, revealing their hardened hearts and legalistic approach.

Austin challenges us to reflect on our own adherence to rules and how it might overshadow the grace and relational aspect of our faith. He provides five thought-provoking questions to help us assess whether we are slipping into legalism:

1. Do we recognize our own need for a Savior?

2. Do we stick to man-made rules so rigidly that we miss what God is doing around us?

3. Do we use the Gospel for selfish purposes?

4. Am I keeping the main thing the main thing?

5. Do I set aside time for genuine connection with the Lord?

Austin emphasizes that legalism can prevent us from fully experiencing the grace and life-changing power of Jesus. He encourages us to reconnect with the heart of God through practices like Sabbath, reminding us that following rules without connection is merely legalism.

Watch this engaging and insightful message to explore how we can move beyond legalism and embrace a relationship with Jesus that transforms and enriches our lives.

Ep. 168 August 18, 2024 | “Marked- At Baptism” | Mark Magee

Ep. 168 August 18, 2024 | “Marked- At Baptism” | Mark Magee

Join us for the second week of our sermon series, "MARKED," where we delve deep into the Gospel of Mark and explore the profound significance of baptism as the starting point of Jesus' ministry and our journey as His followers. This week, we focus on Mark 1:4-11, where John the Baptizer prepares the way for Jesus through a powerful message of repentance and baptism.

Mark uniquely begins the story of Jesus not with His birth, but with His baptism. This moment marks the official start of Jesus' ministry and the announcement of the Good News. At Jesus' baptism, all three members of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—are present, emphasizing the divine significance of this event. This is a momentous occasion, where the heavens are torn open, symbolizing God coming down to us and making a way for us to come to Him. This event foreshadows the tearing of the temple veil at Jesus' death, signifying the end of separation between God and humanity.

Through His baptism, Jesus identifies with sinners, affirms His role as the Messiah, and publicly confirms His identity as the Son of God. By submitting to baptism, Jesus sets an example of righteousness and humility for all who follow Him. This act demonstrates His commitment to fulfilling all righteousness, and it marks the beginning of His public ministry.

If you feel the call to be baptized and declare your commitment to follow Jesus, now is the time. Baptism marks us as forgiven, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and adopted as children of God. Just as Jesus was marked at the beginning of His ministry, we are marked as His followers through baptism.

Join us as we continue to uncover the powerful messages within the Gospel of Mark and what it means to be truly MARKED by Jesus.

In this series, titled "MARKED," we'll explore what it means to be marked by Jesus—marked by the King, marked by the Good News, and marked as a true follower of Christ.

This week, we dive into the first chapter of Mark and explore why it is a provocative gospel. Mark’s Gospel, believed to be the earliest written account of Jesus' life, was crafted in the early 60s AD for Gentile Christians in Rome who were enduring intense persecution under Nero. Mark, a close companion of the Apostles Peter and Paul, writes with the goal of helping readers answer the crucial question: "Who is this Jesus?"

From the very first verse—"The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God"—Mark sets the tone for a message that is politically, religiously, and theologically provocative. He challenges the political and religious norms of his time, boldly asserting that Jesus, not Caesar, is the true King and Son of God. This declaration was not only radical but also dangerous, as it directly confronted the authority of the Roman Empire and the established religious order.

But Mark’s Gospel isn’t just a historical account; it’s a call to personal action. His message compels us to repent, trust in the Good News, and follow Jesus not just as believers, but as committed disciples. Mark emphasizes that Christianity is about more than just belief; it's about living a life in submission to Jesus, our saving King, and being transformed by Him daily.

Ep. 165 July 28, 2024 | Life Verse: “Matthew 11:28-30” | Cortney Duvall

In this powerful sermon, Cortney Duvall, one of our summer interns, explores the message of finding rest in Jesus Christ, based on Matthew 11:28-30. Over the past three weeks, the interns have shared their life verses, and now it's Cortney's turn to share how this verse anchors her to God and provides peace amidst the chaos of life.

Imagine being stuck in traffic, overwhelmed with stress, and exhaustion from a constant hurry. What if it didn't have to be this way? What if there was a way to find true rest and peace? Jesus invites us to come to Him, offering rest for our weary souls. This sermon dives deep into understanding how we can learn from Jesus, be yoked with Him, and find rest in His gentleness and humility.

The sermon also includes a practice of silence, encouraging viewers to create space to hear God's gentle whisper. This message is a reminder to find moments in our daily lives to be still, be with Jesus, and let Him carry the weight of our burdens.
