Gut health for all! with Sunny Culture
Today on the podcast we have co-founder Patrick Whitner with Sunny Culture. They hosted a tasting here at The Ring and we had a chance to try their delicious live sparkling kefir drinks that are available in three different flavors.  From their website- It’s not about us or our company. It’s about offering people better choices. We aren’t concerned with how things have been done – just that consumers deserve more. It starts with handcrafting a product with zero shortcuts and utilizing the benefits of raw fermentation. We’re extremely passionate about our mission to champion gut health with our sparkling probiotic kefir that is friendly to all.

Feedback from the audience of "The Broken Road to Mental Health"
Last week I hosted an event at The Ring, a space that promotes health and wellness...yes, that includes mental health. (there's a napping pod here, it's a must see)  I interviewed 2 fab ladies in attendance, Alyssa of 13th Ave Media & Michelle of SocialVive to provide some follow up feedback. If you are struggling or know somebody who is, reach out to us. We will connect you with a professional that can help. Our discussion centered around understanding more about depression, anxiety, addiction, & alcoholism. What to say and what not to say. We all need to communicate our struggles and work through them with people that have our best interest at heart. It is certainly unhealthy and dangerous to keep it all to ourselves and show up to life every day pretending we are "OK." IN BUSINESS and IN LIFE. You are not alone.  National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Call 1-800-273-8255

Giving my heart to the families of alcoholics/addicts for Valentine's Day!
This podcast is dedicated to all the families who have lost someone from alcoholism and addiction.  My heart and is with you today on Valentine's Day.  The article I referenced in the podcast, PLEASE read to understand:  I pulled out all the words from this brave woman's article I thought you should read... to emphasize WHY it has impacted me so much.... to understand WHY we should all hold our children a little tighter and also to SHARE what has happened to you...the braver we all become, the less children have to die.  We also need not worry about what anyone thinks, our lives matter regardless of how we look, sound, what we do for a living, how much money we have or don't have, etc...  Amanda Poole Kruegere, thank you.  Your bravery inspires me and you are loved by many.  I have included my thoughts IN CAPS underneath her words.     "I found out he was using on July 24, 2017. We sent him to a rehab that cost $45,000 for 45 days. Then we sent him to intensive outpatient rehab for another 3 months, and then a sober living house in Mill Valley for a year. I WENT TO 2 REHABS AND A HALFWAY HOUSE.  MY PARENTS ALSO PAID FOR AN ATTORNEY.  I BLACKED OUT AND MOVED TO THE STATE OF MICHIGAN FOR 2 YEARS.  THEY THOUGHT I WAS DEAD COUNTLESS TIMES.  I PUT MY ENTIRE FAMLY THROUGH HELL AND ALL THEY DID WAS LOVE ME BACK TO HEALTH.  THEY SACRIFICED FOR ME TO KEEP ME ALIVE ...JUST AS THIS FAMILY SACRIFICED FOR GIANCARLO.   I AM HIM AND HE IS ME.  He relapsed and died alone in his bed. He was the most gentle soul. ALCOHOLICS AND DRUG ADDICTS ARE TYPICALLY THE NICEST AND MOST INTELLIGENT PEOPLE.  WE HAVE AN ILLNESS, WE ARE NOT LAZY AND COME FROM BAD PARENTS.  WE ARE LOVED AND BROKEN.  I WAS AN HONOR STUDENT IN A PRIVATE SCHOOL.  I WAS A TALENTED ATHLETE, SWIMMING, BASKETBALL, TRACK, VOLLEYBALL, AND SOFTBALL.  I HAD MANY FRIENDS.  I HAVE A LOVING FAMILY AND GREW UP IN A LOVELY NEIGHBORHOOD.  I HAVE THE DISEASE OF ALCOHOLISM AND DEPRESSION IN MY FAMILY BUT IT IS NOT SPOKEN OF MUCH DUE TO SHAME AND DENIAL (I SUPPOSE).  I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY OWN FAMILY THAT IT IS NOT A DISEASE AND IT'S SIMPLY A MATTER OF WILL POWER.  Kids are DYING, and people are too afraid to be honest even in obituaries because of the social stigma. He was my best friend. The last thing he said to me was: ‘I’m ok mom, I love you too.’ I HOPE TO HONOR MY PARENTS AS LONG AS I CAN FOR ALL THEY HAVE SACRIFICED FOR ME. I DO BELIEVE HE IS OK, THE PAIN OF ADDICTION IS NOW AT REST FOR GIANCARLO.  THANK YOU AMANDA, FOR YOUR COURAGE AND CONCERN FOR ALL OF US.  He said: ‘Giancarlo had an invisible disease that made him sad and he took medicine that the doctor did not give him, and it made him very sick and he died and went to heaven.’ I wasn’t there but my husband said that my son gave a gut wrenching scream that didn’t sound like it could come from a 6-year-old. He then brought him home through the back door, and he laid in bed with me and covered his face with a blanket and fell asleep. MY YOUNGER BROTHER WAS THE SAME AGE AS CLYDE WHEN I WAS USING.  THERE WAS A COURT ORDER AGAINST ME TO NOT GO NEAR HIS SCHOOL TO SEE HIM.  I DON'T REMEMBER THIS, IT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD.  I WAS IN A CONSTANT BLACKOUT FROM THE AGE OF 18-21, WHEN I FINALLY GOT CLEAN AND SOBER.  I WANTED TO DIE EACH TIME I TRIED TO GET SOBER BECAUSE OF MY CHEMICAL IMBALANCE ... I WAS SAVED FROM THIS INSIDIOUS (INVISIBLE) DISEASE.  WENT TO AA, GOT OUTSIDE HELP FOR MY DEPRESSION,  GOT A SPONSOR,  TRUSTED GOD, AND I HELP OTHERS.  TO THIS DAY I AM IN AWE OF MY LIFE BUT KEEP AT THE FO

Emerging membership medicine w/ Anthony Contrucci of Ultimate MD
Enjoyable conversation today discussing the business of medicine. Ultimate M.D. introduces the new way to practice medicine that is ironically reminiscent of how it once was back in the day. Anthony discusses the proper balance between provider and patient. Healthcare simply isn’t what it used to be with most primary care physicians seeing 20 or more patients a day with an average of 15 minutes or less devoted to each patient. Each Ultimate M.D. physician maintains a small group of patients, no more than 600 per provider to deliver the highest level of primary care to each patient.
