Out of the Forest

While Isaac and Enif seek answers and make bargains, Cernunnos and Baerin find themselves sinking deeper, both literally and figuratively. Can they escape before they sink to rock bottom? Enif plays protective parent, Isaac asks the hard questions, Cernunnos takes a dive, and Baerin loses connection.

Separated and somewhat out of their depths, our heroes attempt to find out more about two discreet mysteries haunting them. Both the lake and the mysterious building are proving to be more treacherous than either team could have bargained for. Baerin faces the many faces of an abomination, Cernunnos bears witness a horrible act, Isaac interrogates the inner workings of a secretary's mind, and Enif gets a sense for oncoming threats.

There is a showdown in the middle of the cul-de-sac. No one is safe as the battle rages around the burning fire engine and help doesn't seem like it will arrive in time. Baerin gets a little confused, Cernunnos finds a brand new punching back, Enif is running out of luck, and Isaac hopes he can have a little weapon, as a treat.

In perhaps the most chaotic monster attack our they have ever responded to, our heroes struggle to keep the situation under control and save those innocents at risk. As the dangers multiply, can they stabilize the situation? Enif decides to make a bubble, Baerin proves to be a reliable steed, Cernunnos is fed up with this guy, and Isaac finds himself experiencing a flood of emotions.

Pursuing a rogue moleman leads our heroes to a chaotic scene, with more innocents to save than they can react to quickly enough. Is there some greater threat behind all this? Our heroes' latest respite comes to an end when Isaac collapses into a horrible premonition, unique in its subject matter. Something is stirring in the lake and its impact could be massive. Isaac receives an email with no attachments, Cernunnos makes some cryptid revelations, Baerin names his truck, and Enif returns to a parental role.

Scrumpus, Zorbo, and Tim are your run of the mill kobolds working for a local tech startup in San Dragontonio. This, of course, means they are useful for little other than distractions and a slapstick attempt at corporate espionage. Scrumpus makes everyone in the warehouse a hearty chili, Zorbo really makes a mess of the office, and Tim straight up tases a guy.

Our heroes meet up with a strange, nervous man who is dangerously close to uncovering some of the big secrets in Munnsdale. His information can help them, but it will also put him in great danger. Cernunnos has to make up hours at work, Enif offers to demonstrate magic through Tarot, Isaac learns secrets the easy way, and Baerin just really feels bad for this guy.

Cerunnos is finally called to answer for his indiscretions, way back during the hunt that brought Isaac into the fold. Can he convince the rest of the group that his actions were justified? Enif brings in the tea before it gets spilled, Baerin sincerely has no idea what's going on, Isaac gets a little creative with personal space, and Cernunnos promises that wasn't meant to be a threat.

As our heroes get some room to breathe, they delve into the past to better understand their place in the present. Tensions boil over, and some connections will be tested. Isaac rehearses his greetings, Enif uses a photocopier and whiteout, Baerin gets a fancy latte, and Cernunnos runs into a tree.

Agent Franks was rescued, but he doesn't seem to know that, or even who his saviors are. What is next for him? What does the Agency have planned?

The mirror world is tearing at the seams and there are still so many people left under its thrall. Can our heroes save them? And, if so, how many can they get to before the whole world comes crashing down around them? Baerin makes a difficult choice, Cernunnos dons the mask, Isaac needs a snickers, and Enif lets Bella take shotgun.

Things are not looking up for our heroes. Only two remain themselves and the mirror reality is beginning to actively move against them. How much more can they take before everything breaks apart? Chin Soon moves from awkwardly playing on their cellphone to awkwardly typing on their laptop, Cernunnos just can't wait to cut a message in the wall, Ron throws rocks and hinges, and Isaac lets out all of his anxiety.

But not every investigation yields good results, and how will they save everyone if there keep being more people to save? Cernunnos knocks a man off a four story platform, Enif really didn't think that one through, Isaac has had it up to here with Cernunnos' nonsense, and Ron fixes a cabinet sans hammer.

Our goats are in the party, but they're not out of the woods yet. In their way are dogs, house staff, and the most insurmountable of obstacles - doors! Gerald misunderstands how to use a bathroom, Wendy gives a toast to the mob, and Baaaa makes every second count.

Baaaa, Gerald (King of the Rocks), and Wendy are your friendly neighborhood goats from local Totes Goats Farm. They love good food, good manners, and good drinks. If only there was a party next door they could find all three at! Gerald hungers for flesh, Wendy gives in to decadence, and Baaaa faints at the sight of a scarecrow.

Ron is still living his life, no matter how much time may or may not have passed. Whether it's been an hour, a day, a week, or a month, he's enjoying the peaceful life and helping people install cabinets. Ron decides to get up on the first alarm. Kon offers to order pizza for dinner.

The Agency swarming the hospital brings as many problems as it does solutions as Enif tries to save Lerna and Isaac tries to do some research. Enif enjoys a trip down an ice slide, Isaac tries really hard to get back into the hospital, Cernunnos plays some fetch with Bella, and Baerin is still MIA.

In the strange, yet familiar City and County of Munnsdale, Ron is living a normal life with his spouse, Kon. They have a dog, they have jobs, they have an apartment, and there's nothing to worry about. Ron has deja vu while meeting with a client with a strangely familiar last name. Kon offers to order pizza for dinner.

On the other end of town, while Cernunnos runs up and down Main Street, Isaac and Enif take a trip to the hospital. Will they be able to find Lenny before the cult does? Enif learns how to cry on command and Isaac does some acrobatics through solid matter.

Our party splits, Cernunnos and Bella searching for their missing friend. Can dog and god find friend's best man? Cernunnos gets confused for a beggar and Bella has no idea what's happening, but is happy you're happy.

Things get shaken up as the party learns that external threats won't always stay quiet while they solve a mystery. Can they afford to split their attention, as someone else goes missing? Baerin definitely always had brought his dog, Enif has some terrifying deja vu, Isaac lets Iris sift through the wreckage, and Cernunnos learns the wrong lessons from watching television.

Aleksander is being brought in without time to plan and his new allies will have to improvise to rescue him and stop the Legion before it's too late. Alek tries to use big font to send a message, Beth gets everyone's attention atop a picnic table, Sergeant Janes commandeers a minivan, and Jarrus remembers how much simpler but worse things were back in his day.

Will they be able to put up a resistance with so little time to prepare? Alek looks like a crazy person talking to his dog, Jarrus shows off his impressive armament storage, Sergeant Janes refuses to go anywhere with fewer than two weapons, and Beth plays the soccer mom ferrying everyone in her minivan.

We continue our game of AGON with Mike Sands as GM. The heroes may have rid Kryos of the encroaching harpies, but the Pirate Queen is sailing away fast with misbegotten treasure. Di is not one to fear a pirate queen, Efimia is a really big fan, Ialmenes believes it belongs in a museum, Arcadia has trouble getting the panther back on the boat, and Lykas once again finds herself doling out mercy.

Mike Sand, creator of Monster of the Week, joins us as a guest GM and we try out AGON by John Harper and Sean Nittner. In AGON, we become classical heroes of Greco-Roman origin. These heroes sail their way to the island of Kryos where they find the people of a coastal town besieged by pirates and harpies. Lykas earns leadership through mercy, Arcadia uses a makeshift harpoon, Di learns that wine can't solve all problems, Efimia has a crazy plan that just might work, and Ialmenes uses an old mirror as a laser pointer.

Isaac gets another phone number, Cernunnos looks up flood plains, Baerin reads through some microfiche, and Enif steals some official documents.

In Balenos' apartment, our heroes find some time to catch their breath and go over what they know. Past events both recent and old are reviewed for any chance at a key connection. Munnsdale is an ever darkening place and danger is coalescing in the shadows. Our heroes do their best to resolve their personal troubles during what little peaceful time they can lay claim to. Enif risks a visit under cover of night, Baerin gets lost in a maelstrom of memories, Cernunnos is an invasive little shit, and Isaac makes a mistake that momentarily has him join the amnesia club.

While our heroes limp off to lick their wounds and seek answers, what have their malefactors been up to? Things are about to start changing in Munnsdale and they're certainly not changing for the better. Agent Mendez gets a new assignment, the Agency runs a few a tests, and a shadowy cultist prepares a gift.

The darkness in the woods has a shape now - a giant, yawning maw of void, deep within its darkest depths. And with a shape comes questions, and more investigation. Enif makes a new home, high up in a tree, Baerin laments the constant issues with his head, Isaac literally snaps Iris out of it, and Cernunnos forgets the flash is on.

Sunny, Juan, and Slick are three bears working on a score that will have them set for life. Just one last heist for the fabled Manuka Honey. Juan uses his feminine wiles with skill and grace, Slick does both donuts and carnage with equal panache, and Sunny displays a mastery of both being unhinged and a bear.

Our heroes are exhausted. They've lost the monster, shut down the concert, and suffered wounds both physical and mental. And yet they push forward to seek answers from the forest itself. Can they really expect to get anything other than more questions? Enif sets off on a quest to reclaim what they lost, Cernunnos makes excuses to claim what he needs, Baerin gets a little too close to the darkness, and Isaac calls on a ghost to calm him in a spooky situation.

The New Year's Celebration has begun in the park where our heroes desperately try to track down the monster before it gets away or causes more harm. But will their efforts only invite more harm to themselves? Baerin avoids an awkward accusation, Cernunnos displays his prowess at causing severe harm, Isaac is exposed to the soothing power of music, and Enif decides to give breaking and entering a try.
