In dieser Folge reisen wir 20 Jahre in die Zeit zurück: Wie war es damals, zum ersten Mal "Somewhere I Belong" und das Album "Meteora" von Linkin Park zu hören? Ich verbinde sehr viel mit diesem Album, und es hatte definitiv einen großen Einfluss auf meinen allgemeinen Musikgeschmack. Zum 20. Geburtstag des Albums spreche ich über Erinnerungen, Anekdoten und die 13 Songs. Viel Spaß!
In this episode, we travel back in time 20 years: What was it like to hear "Somewhere I Belong" and Linkin Park's album "Meteora" for the first time? I associate a lot with that album, and it definitely had a big impact on my overall musical taste. For the 20th anniversary of the album, I talk about memories, anecdotes and the 13 songs. Enjoy!

Diese Podcast-Folge hat es in sich, aber ich habe mich bewusst dazu entschieden, das Thema mal großflächig und sehr direkt zu schildern. Viele Menschen (und nicht gerade wenig Männer) gehen zu selten zum Arzt und laufen Gefahr, potenziell lebensbedrohliche Krankheitsbilder nicht zu erkennen. Ich bin froh, zum Arzt gegangen zu sein und jetzt eine gute Lösung gefunden zu haben. Dieses und weitere Themen gibt's in dieser Folge zu hören! :)
This podcast episode is quite drastic, but I have consciously decided to describe the topic quite 'large-scale' and very directly. Many people (and quite a few men) see their doctor too rarely and run the risk of not finding out about potentially life-threatening medical conditions. I'm glad I went to the doctor and have now found a good solution. You can hear this and other topics in this episode! :)

Ich bin mal wieder sehr im "Herr der Ringe"-Fieber und habe neben den ersten Peter Jackson-Filmen auch die drei "Der Hobbit"-Filme sowie die erste Staffel der Amazon-Serie "The Rings Of Power" gesehen. #85 Faszination FuĂźball - Erinnerungen an WMs, EMs, Anekdoten und mehr
In der heutigen Podcast-Folge dreht sich alles... um den Ball! Die FIFA WM 2022 ist frisch vorbei (zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme wurde das Finale Argentininen gegen Frankreich einen Tag zuvor gespielt), und irgendwie habe ich doch mehr zum Thema "Fußball" zu erzählen, als ich zuerst dachte. Der "deutsche Nationalsport" hat mich dann doch immer mal wieder begeistert und schafft es auch immer wieder bis heute. Viel Spaß!

#77 Die Natur - Erlebnisse, Geschichten, Erlnnerungen, Gedanken
Wir sind Teil von ihr und gleichzeitig machen wir sie uns untertan. Naja, zumindest temporär und teilweise. Seit meiner frühen Kindheit bin ich von der Natur fasziniert und habe viele schöne und teilweise weniger schöne Erlebnisse mit und in ihr gesammelt. Von einer Märchenwiese zu Prypjat bei Tschernobyl bis hin zu heimischen Wäldern und Fischteichen - wir tauchen stark in grüne Gefilde ein und werden zum Teil auch wieder etwas philosophisch. Viel Spaß :)
We are part of it and at the same time we make it subservient to us. Well, at least temporarily and partially. Since my early childhood I have been fascinated by nature and have made many beautiful and sometimes not so beautiful experiences with and in it. From a 'fairy tale meadow' to Prypyat near Chernobyl to local forests and fish ponds - we dive heavily into green realms and get partly philosophical again. Have fun :)

In dieser Folge spreche ich über eine Erfahrung, die viele Menschen aus der Millenials Generation, Generation Z und "Gen Y" heutzutage machen: FOMO (fear of missing out), also die Angst, etwas zu verpassen. Man hat mehr oder weniger das Gefühl, etwas im Leben zu verpassen, die falschen Entscheidungen getroffen zu haben und eine nicht zustande gekommene, alternative Situation zu bedauern. Auch ich habe damit gewisse Erfahrungen gesammelt und versuche, mich diesem interessanten Thema etwas philosophisch zu nähern. Viel Spaß!

Die als Soloprojekt vom britischen Musiker Steven Wilson gestartete Band hat mit "Closure/Continuation" nach 13 Jahren quasi wie aus dem Nichts ein neues Album veröffentlicht, mit dem niemand gerechnet hatte. Ein Grund mehr, diese wirklich kreative und progressive Band mal womöglich neuen Musikhörern vorzustellen! Ich spreche in dieser Folge über die Studioalben und weltklasse Songs, die Steven Wilson, Richard Barbieri, Gavin Harrison, Colin Edwin und Chris Maitland zusammen aufgenommen haben. In dieser Folge spreche ich über drei Konzerte, die ich vor Kurzem besucht habe: Die Ärzte live in Köln, Rammstein live in Düsseldorf und die Red Hot Chili Peppers wieder live in Köln! Drei Konzerte, drei sehr unterschiedliche Erlebnisse für meinen Dad und mich. Viel Spaß bei unseren Eindrücken! Seit dem Alben "Meliora" und "Prequelle" hat sich die Band um Mastermind Tobias Forge eine starke Präsenz in der härteren Musikwelt erarbeitet - und mit dem aktuellen Album "Impera" weiter ausgebaut. Hohe Chartplatzierungen und große Konzerte sprechen für sich! Heute spreche ich über meinen Weg zur Band, welche Alben und Songs ich besonders mag und was mir die Band bedeutet. Viel Spaß!

#62 Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, RIP Taylor Hawkins (1972-2022)
Diese Podcast-Folge über die Foo Fighters ist dem leider viel zu früh verstorbenen Schlagzeuger Taylor Hawkins gewidmet, der völlig überraschend im Alter von nur 50 Jahren am 25.03.2022 in einem Hotel in Kolumbien verstorben ist. Die Nachricht seines Todes hat mir als langjährigem großen Fan der Band um Dave Grohl den Boden unter den Füßen weggezogen. Ich hatte einfach das große Bedürfnis, etwas über meine Gedanken zu Taylor Hawkins und der Musik der Band zu sprechen. Taylor: Vielen Dank für die schönen musikalischen Momente, die du mir und vielen anderen Foo Fighters Fans 25 Jahre lang bereitet hast. Rest in peace und rock on!
This podcast episode about the Foo Fighters is dedicated to drummer Taylor Hawkins, who unfortunately passed away much too early. He died completely unexpectedly at the age of only 50 on March 25, 2022 in a hotel in Colombia. The news of his death pulled the rug out from under me as a longtime big fan of Dave Grohl's band. I just felt a great need to talk a bit about my thoughts on Taylor Hawkins and the band's music. Taylor: Thank you for the beautiful musical moments you gave me and many other Foo Fighters fans in the past 25 years. Rest in peace and rock on!

Ich bin bereits seit vielen Jahren an der deutschen Synchronbranche interessiert und schätze die hochwertige Leistung der Sprecher sowie der Leute, die qualitative Aufnahmen und "Voice Acting" in Deutschland möglich machen (z.B. Dialogregie etc.). In dieser Folge wird besonders viel Name-Dropping betrieben, also macht euch auf die Nennung vieler Top Synchronsprecher aus Deutschland gefasst!
In keeping with the theme of "Movies, Actors & Directors" in episodes 54 and 55, today I'm talking about German voice actors and voice actresses! #58 Putins Krieg gegen die Ukraine - ein deutsches Statement
I have been thinking for some time whether I would like to discuss the Ukraine-Russia war in the context of THE GERMAN PODCAST. I usually hold back with political statements in public, although I do have clear opinions on many different aspects. However, there are simply topics in world history that cannot be ignored, especially since Ukraine is only a two-hour flight away from Germany, many Ukrainians and Russians live in Germany and many German citizens have relatives or acquaintances in Ukraine and Russia. My personal impressions described in this episode are based on my state of knowledge on Sunday, 27.02.2022 at 18:02. I hope very much that both the Ukrainians concerned and the Russian citizens, who did not want this unnecessary war, can come to terms, find a way to peace and a future peaceful coexistence without prejudices and with a feeling of safety / security.

Heute gibt es sozusagen zwei Themen in einem: Guilty Pleasures und unser Problem mit Toleranz! Wenn man an Guilty Pleasures denkt, hat man vielleicht eher harmlose, lustige Dinge im Sinn. NatĂĽrlich gibt es die, aber gibt auch eine "dunkle Seite" bei diesem Thema. Das ist vor allem dann der Fall, wenn Meinungen zu Scham, Ausgrenzung oder Intoleranz fĂĽhren. Ihr merkt schon: Heute wird es auch wieder etwas philosophisch! Ich spreche aber auch ĂĽber meine Guilty Pleasure Beispiele. Viel SpaĂź!

In der heuten Podcast Folge spreche ich über Geld, Finanzen, Konsum und die Relativität der Zahlen! Letzteres klingt kryptisch, aber ergibt im Kontext dieses Themas durchaus Sinn. Dabei ist das Thema dieser Folge eigentlich total untypisch für mich, da Menschen in Deutschland normalerweise nie großartig über Geld sprechen. Das ist in anderen Ländern und Kulturen komplett anders, was mich unter anderem zu dieser Episode inspiriert hat. Viel Spaß!
In today's podcast episode I talk about money, finance, consumption and the relativity of numbers! The latter sounds cryptic, but makes perfect sense in the context of this topic. The topic of this episode is actually totally untypical for me, because people in Germany usually never talk much about money. That's completely different in other countries and cultures, which is one of the things that inspired me to write this episode. Have fun!

#52 MediEvil: Wenn Tim Burton ein Videospiel gemacht hätte
In dieser Folge spreche ich über MediEvil und den Skelettritter Sir Daniel Fortesque - ein Klassiker der Playstation 1 aus dem Jahr 1998! Hätte Filmregisseur Tim Burton ein Videospiel gemacht, wäre vermutlich so etwas wie MediEvil dabei entstanden. Die Mischung aus mysteriösem Märchen und schwarzem Humor passen hier perfekt zueinander, und das nicht nur im ersten Teil. Auch MediEvil 2 aus dem Jahr 2000, das PSP "Remake" MediEvil Resurrection sowie das MediEvil Remake aus dem Jahr 2019 wissen auf ihre Art zu unterhalten. Heute spreche ich hauptsächlich über den ersten Teil, die Level des Plattformers und was dieses Spiel meiner Meinung nach auszeichnet.
In this episode I talk about MediEvil and the skeleton knight Sir Daniel Fortesque - a Playstation 1 classic from 1998! If film director Tim Burton had made a video game, it probably would have resulted in something like MediEvil. The mixture of mysterious fairy tale and black humor fit together perfectly here, and not only in the first part. MediEvil 2 from 2000, the PSP "remake" MediEvil Resurrection as well as the MediEvil Remake from 2019 also know how to entertain in their own way. Today I'll mainly talk about the first part, the levels of the platformer and what makes this game stand out in my opinion.

Olaf Scholz ist am 08.12.2021 zum neunten Bundeskanzler der Bundesrepublik Deutschland gewählt worden, und zusammen mit seinen Ministern wurde er vereidigt. Er ist somit der Nachfolger von Angela Merkel, die 16 Jahre lang Kanzlerin war. In dieser dritten Ausgabe von "What's up, Dave?" spreche ich außerdem über unsere leider verstorbene Katze Pepper (RIP), meine Gastauftritte in Podcasts und Videos und einige weitere Themen. Heute dreht sich alles um meine Lieblings-Spielekonsole: Die Playstation 1 und einige ihrer Spiele wie Spyro, Crash oder MediEvil. Erstmals 1994 in Japan veröffenlicht, eroberte Sony mit dieser neuartigen Spielksonsole schnell die ganze Welt. Dabei hatte die PS1 ihre Anfänge in einem missglĂĽckten Joint Venture von Nintendo und Sony! FĂĽr mich persönlich sind Spiele wie Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, MediEvil oder Frontschweine bis heute absolute Klassiker. Tauche mit ein in eine Nostalgie-Episode fĂĽr Kinder der 90er und frĂĽhen 2000er! :)Â
Today is all about my favorite gaming console: The Playstation 1. First released in Japan in 1994, Sony quickly conquered the whole world with this new type of gaming console. Fun fact: The PS1 had its beginnings in a failed joint venture between Nintendo and Sony! For me personally, games like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, MediEvil or 'Hogs of War' are absolute classics to this day. Let's dive into a nostalgia episode for kids of the 90s and early 2000s! :)

#43 Interview mit meinem 85-jährigen Opa (2. Weltkrieg etc.)
Diese Folge war sehr besonders: Ich hatte meinen Opa (85) und meine Oma (83) zu Gast. Wir haben über den 2. Weltkrieg, alte Technik und mehr gesprochen. Eigentlich war mein Großvater als Hauptgast gedacht, später schaltet sich dann meine Großmutter auch in manche Themen mit ein. Wir haben über Kindheitserinnerungen während des zweiten Weltkrieges, die Bombardierung der Möhnetalsperre, Bombenangriffe in Arnsberg (Sauerland), alte Technik (TV, Auto, PC), Familienanekdoten und mehr. This episode was very special: I had my grandpa (85) and grandma (83) as guests. We talked about the 2nd World War, old technology and more. Actually, my grandfather was supposed to be the main guest, but later my grandmother joined in on some of the topics. We talked about childhood memories during WWII, the bombing of the Möhne Dam, bombing raids in Arnsberg (Sauerland), old technology (TV, car, PC), family anecdotes and more. Have fun! :)

In der zweiten Ausgabe von "What's up, Dave?" spreche ich u.a. über das Charity-Projekt "TeamSeas", das von den YouTubern MrBeast und Mark Rober gestartet wurde. Als Creator habe ich zusammen mit anderen plattformübergreifend an dieser Kollaboration teilgenommen und erzähle ein wenig darüber, wie wir gemeinsam einen Beitrag leisten können, um Flüsse, Seen und Meere von Plastikmüll zu befreien. Außerdem spreche ich über das völlig überraschende Comeback einer meiner absoluten Lieblingsbands: Porcupine Tree. In dieser Episode geht auch um Konzerte, die 2022 planmäßig anstehen, das neue Coldplay Album "Music Of The Spheres", meinen Besuch der SPIEL (Brettspielmesse) in Essen, eine lustige Halloween Party mit Freunden und mehr. As a Creator, I participated in this collaboration with others across platforms and talk a bit about how we can contribute together to rid rivers, lakes and oceans of plastic waste. I also talk about the completely unexpected comeback of one of my all-time favorite bands, Porcupine Tree. This episode is also about concerts that are scheduled in 2022, the new Coldplay album "Music Of The Spheres", my visit to the SPIEL (board game fair) in Essen, a fun Halloween party with friends and more. Dort wurde ich geboren, bin dort aufgewachsen und lebe dort bisher mein ganzes Leben lang. Dafür gibt es viele gute Gründe - andere Menschen kommen sogar hierher, um in der wunderschönen Natur Urlaub zu machen. Doch was hat es eigentlich mit meiner Heimatstadt Arnsberg, dem Stadtteil Neheim und dem Sauerland auf sich? Heute erzähle ich euch von einigen historischen Fakten, Sehenswürdigkeiten rund um Arnsberg, welche bekannten Persönlichkeiten hierher kommen und welche Städte in der Nähe liegen. Viel Spaß! :)
In today's episode I take you on a little mental journey to the beautiful Sauerland! The Sauerland is a region in North Rhine-Westphalia in the west of Germany. It's where I was born, where I grew up, and where I've lived all my life so far. There are many good reasons for that - other people even come here to spend their vacations in the beautiful nature. But what is it actually about my hometown Arnsberg, the district Neheim and the Sauerland?
