Ep. #15 - Rising from your lows [tips and practices]

Ep. #15 - Rising from your lows [tips and practices]

Life is a series of unavoidable ups and downs. After having experienced a little bit of a low season recently, in this episode, I am sharing with you some of the practices and reminders that have helped me get through my lows better.

Hopefully, they'll help you not just navigate your lows better, but rise from them. Grow and evolve so you come out stronger on the other side.

We'll touch upon things such as:

  • How can we take better care of ourselves?
  • How can we create space from what's worrying us?
  • How can we rest emotionally?
  • How can we support ourselves better and teach others to do the same?
  • What are some practices and habits that can help us shift our mindset and break a bad cycle?
  • How can we find purpose in our lows?
  • How can we elevate from them?

If you're going through a low right now, this is a reminder that things do get better, and that you don't have to go through it alone.

Bonus Ep. - Finding home far from home [post-travel catch up]

Bonus Ep. - Finding home far from home [post-travel catch up]

It's been a minute since our last chat! I'm back after a little hiatus, this time discussing "the feeling of home". That warm fuzzy feeling that makes us feel safe, like we belong, and we're in the right place. This episode goes out to all those twenty-somethings who:

  • have recently moved abroad and are still trying to find that feeling of homeliness far from home
  • have recently moved back home and are trying to re-adjust into an environment and lifestyle, that although familiar, feels unknown
  • have multiple home bases and struggle with leaving something behind every time they move from one to another

I hope this little bonus episode helps you reflect on the elements that make you feel at home. I think being able to identify what home is and isn't can be valuable as a way to make better decisions about the places we decide to stay in or move away from.

Ep. #14 - [Journal With Me] My End of Year Reflection & 10 prompts to guide you through yours.

Ep. #14 - [Journal With Me] My End of Year Reflection & 10 prompts to guide you through yours.

In this last episode of the year we're getting a little raw & personal.

I share my learnings and reflections from this past year and give you some prompts and questions to help you go through this End Of Year Reflection exercise yourself.

As the end of the year approaches, we can either continue with ‘business as usual’, move onto our next chapter, and never look back, or we can take the time to pause and reflect on the lessons and events that have shaped us along the way.

I think end of cycles are a good way to keep reminding ourselves to find some stillness in the middle of all the hustle and slow down the fast rhythm that we're used to moving at. It helps us pause our autopilot function for a sec and really think so that we can become more aware of things.

There's great power in self-reflection, we simply don't tap into it enough.

So join me as we reflect on key areas and events of this past year, and evaluate what’s working and what’s not, so that we can step into the new year more intentionally and move closer towards the things that will make our lives a little better.

Ep. #11 - Taking breaks, re-balancing our lives, & getting back on track.

Hi friend! ☕️ If you'd like to support this podcast with a cup of coffee visit www.buymeacoffee.com/thegrowthlab - your support helps keep this podcast alive.

In this episode:

We’re kicking-off season two by talking about the importance of taking breaks, learning how to re-balance our lives and getting back on track. It’s perfectly common, especially in our 20s & 30s, to want to do it all. To want to stretch ourselves to every little corner of our existence. We get overwhelmed trying to make all of our responsibilities and pleasures co-exist in harmony. So in this episode we’re unpacking the difficulties and struggles involved in allowing ourselves to take proper breaks and we’re exploring different ways in which we can recover balance in our lives by bouncing-back from stages of over-indulgence or contrarily, from stages in which we’re over-working ourselves.

After recently taking a long break myself, I’m sharing with you some of my personal learnings and reflections gathered during these past two months, including what I gained and what I missed, and how I’ve managed to get back on track and return to my regular rhythm of life.

P.S. [from min. 23:04 onwards]: Dive-in into the importance of morning routines and how you can stick to one yourself, even if you’re not a ‘morning person’.

Ep. #10 - Mental Wellbeing & Navigating Our Emotions with behavioral therapist Shameka Clark-Savage

Hi friend! ☕️ If you'd like to support this podcast with a cup of coffee visit www.buymeacoffee.com/thegrowthlab

In this episode:

We talk Mental Health with Shameka Clark-Savage, a US-based licensed cognitive behavioral therapist as well as the host of "More Than Therapy" podcast.

Mental Health is essential for our overall health and wellbeing. We’re all quick to run to the doctor when we’re in physical pain but don’t prioritize our mental health the same way and have trouble seeking help. Mental health issues and struggles tend to be battled in silence. People with both chronic and less severe mental health issues still don’t feel seen, heard, understood, or supported enough. And it’s up to all of us to change that for the better. It doesn't mean we have all the answers but I hope it means we're willing to learn and work on it collectively.

Topics discussed in this episode:

  • Emotional literacy and learning how to identify, express, and cope with negative emotions.
  • Identifying triggers and cognitive behavioral therapy tools
  • Releasing: the best medicine to heal
  • Depression and grief
  • Normalizing therapy and vulnerability
  • Supporting others through their mental well-being journey
  • Tips, self-care rituals, and tools to improving our own mental wellbeing

Ep. #9 - The Other Side Of Fear

Ep. #9 - The Other Side Of Fear

Hi friend! ☕️ If you'd like to support this podcast with a cup of coffee visit www.buymeacoffee.com/thegrowthlab

In this episode:
So... what's on the other side of fear? Pretty much everything you've ever wanted. At least anything that is WORTH SOMETHING. Your dreams, your desired life, exciting and fulfilling experiences, expansion, freedom, progress, or growth. All of it is right there, sitting on the other side of fear. Fear is the cause of everything that holds us back. Everything that prevents us from moving forward. However fear is also a necessary survival mechanism. Hundreds of years back, fear kept us alive. It helped us avoid risky and dangerous situations. These days, however, it's pretty much the opposite. Our brain's desire to avoid discomfort is exactly what prevents us from living. At least living fully, to the full spectrum of the human experience. Tune in to this episode to hear about how we can learn to identify, rationalize and cope with our fears so we can prevent them from controlling our lives and keeping us away from the things we desire most.

He is the co-founder at the digital agency “CORE - Raise & Retain” as well as of the educational platform “MoneyMinds.io”.

We all have a different relationship with money. To some people, money is this shiny, sexy thing, while for others it’s this overwhelming, confusing, and sometimes even dirty subject. But what’s undeniable is that, whether we like it or not, money is essential in order to live a good, healthy, and fulfilling life. Because although it might be true that money doesn’t buy happiness, it’s also true that the lack or shortness of it can cause great distress and imbalance in our lives. After all, like it or not, it plays a key role not only in covering our basic needs but also in supporting our desired life and long-term dreams. However, the world of personal finances can sometimes become a little overwhelming to navigate, and it’s not always easy to know if we’re doing the right thing when it comes to managing our money. Sometimes we’d like to be saving more, spending less, or earning more... but we don’t quite have the tools to do it successfully. That's why in this episode, Jonne covers some useful basic notions of personal finances and how to build a healthy mindset around money management while also sharing some great tips on how to start investing and saving.

There's a whole new 12-month container in front of us that we can use to turn our ideas into reality, but if we don't have a solid structure and road map to guide us in our journey towards our goals, it's likely that we'll end up falling back into old patterns. Not this year. In this episode, we're discovering the method of systems over goals. Layer by layer, we'll define the intentions, mindsets, and habits we need to build in order to support our long-term goals and have a transformative impact on our lifestyle, instead of just creating momentary change.

In this episode:
We are talking to motivational speaker and confidence coach Valeria Euler, who's also the host of the podcast 'Confident as F.' In this conversation, Valeria and I unpack so much. From the critical role that developing a strong self-confidence can have in all areas of your life to some of the key elements that influence it. Such as our inner self-talk, or constantly comparing ourselves to others, and trying to live up to certain expectations. Not knowing ourselves well enough due to a lack of self-awareness, and therefore letting other people dictate many of our important life choices. We also talk about what are some of the things that prevent us from showing up as our most authentic self and confidently to the world, being unapologetically OURselves.

Get ready for a fun, sweet, and personal episode where Valeria shares some very valuable and personal advice. If anything, it will at least it will spark some important questions to ask yourself about who you are and how confidently you are showing up in your life.
