Over the course of the last 1.5 years (and for Gina, decades in the public education system) we have held a fair & scrutinizing birds eye view of the indoctrinating institutions aka schools. What we find at every turn is the exploitation of our children, caught in the crossfire of adults and their personal and political tribulations.
We are severely divided across the world; something that love and good will can only soothe and birth feelings of hope. It takes nothing short of great actions and involvement if we are to halt the gears that are turning our children into economic and social movement pawns.

The Hempy Hour S2E8: Sleep on It!
Nearly 40 million adults in the US suffer from some type of significant sleep disorder and it is assumed that an additional 20 million people annually have experienced sporadic sleep problems.
Cannabis to the rescue! Cannabinoids, as well as terpenes and other synergistic natural products, not only positively impact sleep but can also mitigate virtually every problem associated with a lack of sleep.
Sleep deprivation has been linked to elevated blood pressure and higher cholesterol, as well as to an increase in the risks for every other cause of heart disease. The importance of sleep can’t be overstated. Inadequate sleep for even just one night can trigger events that begin to depress the immune system.
Today on the Hempy Hour we talk about the double edged sword of sleep disorders. Do I have a health condition that causes a sleep disorder or do I have a sleep disorder that puts me at risk for a health condition?...Whatever your sleep challenges are we are talking about how cannabis/hemp may handle both scenarios.
Your tax dollars have pumped the NIH with over $184m during FY2019 alone into researching cannabinoids and their therapeutic properties, amongst that research everything from the munchies to cancer. Sleep related research has shown that cannabinoids, like CBD, CBN and CBG hold the greatest potential for developing safe and effective natural sleep aids but also for developing analgesic products that can bring the precursors to sleep disturbances into homeostatic balance.

Outside of the pain and other uncomfortable symptoms, sufferers of GI inflammatory conditions are also limited in their use of steroid therapies that are used to stunt the aggressive immune response that causes the condition to "flare". Having a chronic inflammatory disease has inherent intervention challenges and many find themselves rotating through multiple therapies with hopes to treat their symptoms. The Hempy Hour, in appreciation of National Mental Health Awareness Month, has dedicated May's podcasts to introducing and having discussions with professionals within Mental Health Care Services.
Our conversation with Shara was one of inspiration. Her journey is one of building resilience through changing the narrative, facing fears and practicing self compassion. In her words, "Vulnerability is Power".
Shara is an independently licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Lock Haven University and a master’s degree in social work from Howard University School of Social Work. She provides therapeutic support to enhance the lives of others through her specializations in grief, personality disorders, family trauma, compassion fatigue, military counseling, mindfulness mediation, ADHD and anxiety. Shara also is a Board Certified Tele-Mental Health Provider.
Shara currently is building her private practice ‘ Holistic Healing Journey’ and her wellness consulting company called: ‘Journey To Licensure’ where she supports social workers through their licensure examinations combined with wellness coaching.

The Hempy Hour Episode 12 : MindBody with John Clayton
May is Mental Health Awareness Month which made our sit down with John Clayton an exploration of personal growth, mental health and mind/body healing.
Tonight on the Hempy Hour, John talks with us about creating a culture of excellence, stretching its definition throughout society, ultimately building and strengthening personal and professional relationships.
John also shares the journey of being sought out by an occupational therapist whom was treating a woman for 18 months under traditional psychiatric care including courses of pharmacological psychotropics.
This path ultimately failed her, worsening and creating new debilitating symptoms. John was contacted as the "last help" and urgently responded to this dire situation to offer his expertise. Within 8 weeks of therapy, John, a trained psychotherapist with a specialty of clinical / medical hypnotherapist, integrated subconscious methods that eliminated the symptoms of the conditions she was suffering.
Upon the patients return to her original occupational therapist, her medication lowered and ultimately leaving the original therapist tongue tied " I just don't understand it" ....(the recovery) We invite you to explore the necessary dynamic between traditional and holistic medical practices, with John as our guide.
As a Behavioral Development Specialist, John has helped thousands of people transform their own mental health and behavior. The John Clayton Academy will soon be offering a variety of different courses for growth, and helping individuals mentally and physically to understand master the space between mind and body.

The Hempy Hour Ep 4: Social Media Reins War on a Plant...and other inconvenient truths
With regards to legal cannabis, social media giants like FB are clear- traditional channels are shut off in advertising, promotional activities and content that has any context regarding health and wellness. Further, restrictions extend into a companies ability to reach not only your organic followers, but funnel and engage with new ones.
Admins on our FB group, primarily Mama Epps continuously land in "FB jail", and had our business pages suspended for violating community guidelines over conversations, no sale solicitation....just showing and talking about a plant.
Thankfully there are alternate platforms like LinkedIn where you can responsibly provide resources, promote your services, products, brand and be on the same playing field that traditional industry professionals and companies enjoy.
Whatever your opinion (or debate) on businesses, freedom of speech, or even any companies inherent responsibility to their users. I think we can all agree after the last year, social media platforms are falling under scrutiny for both their actions and inactions.

The Hempy Hour Episode 3 : All Ends with Beginnings
There is no easy way to say this...this episode was emotionally brutal for both of us. We had initially wanted to discuss how events of the past year have pushed us both personally and professionally and how we have been coping with so much change. That came to a screeching halt as we quickly found ourselves in the crosshairs of events from nearly two decades ago that had once halted life as we knew it.
Today we are talking about my heroin addiction and attempted suicide for the first time together and the fatal heroin overdose that took Andy, Gina's brother from us. This is us, in some of our darkest hours and our rise from the ashes. Our sights over the past 20 years have been set in not succumbing to tragedy, but letting it guide us to a higher purpose. These moments continue to shape our identity, our relationships with each other, self, loved ones and friends. Lessons learned through our pains and losses, brings a message of hope, has brought us together in unimaginable ways to remind you, you are not alone.
Like the legend of the Phoenix, all ends with beginnings, this is one of our beginnings, as raw as it gets.
