Barbara Heil brings some fire to The Hour! She and Pete discuss her initial conversion (8:14), punching a fellow believer (19:20), ministering to transvestite prostitutes during the AIDS outbreak (30:11) and how that's informing her ministry during COVID, and what's Heaven saying to the Church right now. More about Barbara:

Barbara grew up on the West Coast, and as a student, had a life changing encounter with the love of Christ. She crossed the country to Ashland, Virginia where she learned a life of prayer, worship, and devotion at an international ministry community. Her hands-on training included kid’s camps, inner city ministry, missions, ministry to the poor, and crusades around the world.

Barbara was part of the staff at the Calvary Campground in Ashland, Virginia for over 20 years. Her ministry experience is wide and varied, from living in Hong Kong to minister in Asia, to living in Jerusalem, to being on staff at a street mission in San Diego, Ca to minister to the needs of the homeless during the beginning of the AIDS outbreak.

She has ministered all over the world, has been a missionary, an evangelist, and pastor. She has spent the last few years traveling the U.S. and the world over conducting worship seminars, retreats, and conferences, leading missions trips, offering prayer and counseling, and seeing thousands healed and set free inside and out, equipping lives for the Glory of God.

Barbara didn’t know until recently that she had been baptized as a child in the Catholic Church, and after much prayer and deliberation, she received the Rite of Confirmation in St Paul, Minnesota in April of 2013. Today, based in Iowa, Barbara continues to be involved in a wide spectrum of Christian endeavor.

A widow for 8 years, Barbara has recently married! She lives in Iowa with her husband, Jeff. She is the joyful mother of 4 and grandmother of 2! Together she and Jeff have 8 children and 10 grandkids!

In this episode, Pete is joined by Fr. Steve Pullis, the Director of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship for the Archdiocese of Detroit. They remember attending classes together at Sacred Heart Seminary, then discuss what it actually means to unleash the Gospel, the seemingly small number of Catholics who would say they know Jesus, and some profound lessons from the North American Martyrs. Fr. Steve gets pretty pumped talking about these amazing missionaries. Then Pete concludes with Jeremiah 29:11 and unpacks, what he considers to be, a sweet line about God's faithfulness.

Important Dei Verbum quote: Therefore, since everything asserted by the inspired authors or sacred writers must be held to be asserted by the Holy Spirit, it follows that the books of Scripture must be acknowledged as teaching solidly, faithfully and without error that truth which God wanted put into sacred writings (5) for the sake of salvation. Therefore "all Scripture is divinely inspired and has its use for teaching the truth and refuting error, for reformation of manners and discipline in right living, so that the man who belongs to God may be efficient and equipped for good work of every kind" (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
