Click HERE to reserve your spot while you still can (link for here: https://thriving.thefitnessfyx.com/signup)
In this episode Coach Krysta talks about:
- the difference between knowing what you need to do vs. actually executing on it
- everything happening exactly as it should have to get you right to where you are in this moment today
- the longer you wait, the harder it's going to be--and the fact that there's never a perfect time to get started on your fat loss journey, so you might as well start today
- anxiety stemming from indecision and lack of action--making the choice, even if it scares you or you feel like you don't know what you're doing will calm those nerves
- fitting your fitness and nutrition into your life, not the other way around
- removing the expectation that you should be good at something you've never done before
- unpopular opinion: how you do 1 thing is NOT how you do everything--it's okay to have different priorities
- the power in letting go: your desire to control the outcome could be exactly what's blocking you from the outcome

THE FYX 148: What My 20s Have Taught Me (Part I)
Coach Krysta has a milestone birthday coming up in May, so we're celebrating with some reflection: 30 lessons she's learned in her 20s, as we say goodbye to one decade and hello to the next one. We're revealing the first 7 lessons in this episode, and sharing one per day over on her Instagram page, so be sure to follow along there too if you're not already. And stay tuned for an exciting announcement over the next two weeks for a new opportunity to work with The Fitness FYX.
In this episode, Krysta walks us back through lessons she's learned and even shared on previous podcast episodes including:
- the importance of setting boundaries
- recognizing that no one takes care of you better than you take care of you
- the realization that you create your own reality and are responsible for your own emotions
- the power in celebrating the small wins every single day
- learning that what worked for your 22-year-old body isn't going to work for your 30, 40, or 50-year-old body and that's OKAY
- resolving issues right away--there's never a perfect time, why continue to push off weight loss, hard conversations, big life decisions? Your gut is telling you something: lean into it

THE FYX 146: Building The Life You TRULY Want with Paige Marx
Let's talk about relationships, shall we? They're so important -- personal, professional, romantic relationships, friendships -- they're literally the fabric of our lives. And in our world of healthy living, relationships are at the absolute center of our health. Coach Krysta is joined by friend and fellow nutritionist, Paige Marx, Founder of The Shred Society to share their experiences on the relationships in each of their lives. This episode is a reminder to us all that:
- it's completely okay to not always have a plan
- there's power in being present, in being where your feet are
- nothing in life is permanent, nor does it HAVE to be
- healing, like fat loss, is not a linear journey

THE FYX 145: Stop Self-Managing and Start Self-Advocating with Alexis Artin
We're taking last week's conversation on healing and kicking it up a notch this week with female embodiment expert Alexis Artin. Alexis is a licensed growth coach, master embodiment teacher, and co-founder of Soulsway--a movement practice that connects the body, mind, heart, and soul. Using mind-body practices for both personal and professional transformation, Alexis supports women in aligning their inner and outer selves--toward their truest goals.
In this episode, Krysta and Alexis discuss:
- Alexis's philosophy called the soul body paradox, which explores the partnership between the soul and the body
- The necessity of self-care--it's as important as brushing your teeth
- The importance of establishing your values, and ensuring that you're living a life that is in fact aligned with what you hold to be most important to you (Check out Dr. John Demartini's values assessment that Alexis recommends as a helpful tool HERE)
- How sexuality plays into a woman's relationship with herself
- The difference between simply managing vs. actually advocating for the life you desire

THE FYX 143: Maybe You Shouldn't Change
Coach Krysta is completely flipping her perspective this week with the question of, "What if you stayed stuck?" We spend so much time focusing on what we CAN do to change, what we SHOULD do when it comes to our goals of losing weight, but rarely do we talk about the option of actually staying the same. As we head into a new month and are hitting that timeline of about 12 weeks until summer, the messaging you might expect from many fitness coaches will likely sound like...
"If you start now, you can achieve amazing results for your physique and your health in time for summer."
"12 weeks is the perfect amount of time for you to go into a calore deficit."
While true, what if the perspective you actually needed to finally lose the weight for good was to picture what it might be like if you stayed exactly where you are right now? Tune into this episode for Coach Krysta's take on exactly that.

THE FYX 142: What if The Scale Didn't Have to Spike Every Monday?
You've heard the advice before: "Don't let the weekends be your WEAK end." But that advice is a little bit nonspecific, isn't it? We can all agree that with a busy social life--and simply wanting to have a social life, period--there can often be competing factors when it comes to enjoying ourselves and reaching our goals. So, in keeping it as real as we always do on The FYX, in this episode, Coach Krysta breaks down exactly how YOU can create the structure required to reach your goals while also living your best life--every. single. weekend. We're delivering the exact tips we share with all of our 1:1 Fitness FYX nutrition clients in navigating meals out without losing progress.
In this episode, Coach Krysta discusses:
- How helpful it can be to remove the pressure of specific timelines around reaching your fat loss goals
- How to break down your food options during meals out to actually understand where they fit into the rest of your day
- The importance of controlling what you can control: in this case, stressing less about the meal out and focusing more on every other meal you're actually preparing yourself
- How frequent is TOO frequent with ordering takeout and going out to eat when it comes to your fat loss goals

THE FYX 141: Surprise, I Have Nothing to Say
Coach Krysta has a quick, hot take for you all this week -- and that's on finding inspiration when it feels like there's no inspiration. Opening up about the pressure she creates for herself when it comes to creating content, and putting out an uplifting or unique perspective each week via her podcast, email newsletter, and on IG, Krysta draws the content-making parallel into what we all experience along our fitness journeys--the peaks and valleys. Some weeks, we feel ready to roll and excited to train, and other weeks, our meal prep feels like a massive chore. But the good news is? It's all perfect. And when we can accept that those ups and downs are to be expected, that's where we find the magic of actually staying consistent. It's not always glamorous, and it's not always sexy. But when we're busy, it doesn't serve us to believe that everything has to be done a certain way--or not done at all.

THE FYX 140: Is it "Just One Meal," or is It Your Relationship with Food?
We've got our Super Bowl recap in today's solo episode with Coach Krysta and no, it's not about the commercials, Travis and Taylor Swift, or the actual game itself--it's all about the food. It's easy to lean on the explanation that it's "just one day," and we're usually on board with that argument for holiday eats when it comes to coaching our Fitness FYX nutrition clients. But Coach Krysta is playing a little devil's advocate this week and asking the listeners to go deeper: it might be just one day, but it's also a really clear indicator of your relationship with food. You're either Person A or Person B:
Person A: Walked away from the party feeling stuffed, guilty, and glad you wore some looser fitting jeans
Person B: Proud of the fact that you went about your choices as if it were any other day of the week, focusing on what would make you FEEL your absolute best
Ultimately, we're all looking to become person B. How do we do that? What do we need to consider? Tune in to this episode for those exact answers.

THE FYX 139: Why We'll Never Shut Up About the Power of Habits in Your Weight Loss Journey with Sam Wallace
Coach Krysta sits down with fellow nutrition coach and longtime friend, Sam Wallace, in this episode that--in true FYX fashion--serves up nothing other than real, authentic, and truly applicable advice on what it actually takes to lose body fat and keep it off for good. Sam is the founder of Sam Wallace Fitness, which she runs alongside Registered Dietitian Nina Escobedo. Sam and Nina support their clients in creating a fit lifestyle that doesn't ask you to give up your inner foodie. Sounds a lot like our philosophy over at The Fitness FYX, so of course, we had to podcast about it.
In this episode Krysta and Sam discuss:
- Sam's personal fitness journey from growing up as a dancer into the world of bodybuilding: and how her relationship with food was tested through her experience competing on stage
- How Sam used food and nourishment to heal her body from the inside out: battling a range of health issues from food allergies to endometriosis
- How Sam's own struggle became her inspiration to help what is now the Sam Wallace Fitness Community
- Why habits and behaviors will always win when it comes to fat loss
- Practical tips for managing your social life and going out to eat while still pursuing your fat loss goals
- The importance of learning how to NOT diet and navigating an intuitive eating approach after you've lost weight--so that you can truly keep it off, for good

The FYX 138: Finding Stillness and Finding You with Eben Britton
Coach Krysta is joined by ex-NFLer turned yogi, Eben Britton is today's episode that can be summed up best in one word: enlightening. Eben takes us along his journey through the chaos of an alcoholic family, into his career as a professional football player and ultimately, how his lack of purpose post-sports led him back to himself, specifically his relationship with himself--a relationship that most of us neglect as we move through our lives. With the support of the Al-Anon 12 step program, yoga, and meditation, Eb found himself, found his path, and his purpose: now paving the way for the rest of us to do the same. Eb's story--and his work and message today--show us the power that comes with finding stillness and looking inward. Eb walks us through a style of meditation called open focus, which Coach Krysta has already seen immediate benefits from in her own regular practice of it. If you're someone who hasn't always found meditation to be accessible, this episode will completely transform your perspective.
In this episode, we discuss:
- the power of open focus meditation
- understanding our bodies' natural wiring around fight, flight, and freeze
- what it really means to find stillness and concentration
- the expansion that comes with truly listening--and what it means to really listen to others around you
- the perfection inside of the struggle
- the beautiful mindset we have the ability to cultivate around challenging experiences--seeing them as events and situations we needed to go through to arrive to our reality today

Rolling into another Thursday with another solo episode from Coach Krysta, this week covering your health and wellness from a slightly different angle--specifically understanding your healthy lifestyle as your destiny. Coach Krysta breaks down her perspective around this idea of "whatever is meant for you won't pass you by," and how that confidence, that certainty can apply to success inside of your fat loss journey. Krysta discusses:
- the power of having more fun along your fat loss journey
- how to be intentional about putting yourself first
- the power of shifting your identity to see yourself as the person who has ALREADY lost the weight

THE FYX 136: Why Your Relationship with YOURSELF is the Key to Fat Loss
It's been a minute since Coach Krysta has hit the mic solo, so we're on this week with some updates on her own health and fitness goals for 2024. In her final solo episode of 2023, Krysta opened up about her struggle to priortize her fitness while growing The Fitness FYX community over the course of 2023, and discussed how the experience has helped her understand what it looks like to give yourself grace, and how to be realistic about juggling so many competing priorities at once. With that in mind, she's sharing her big focus for 2024: her relationship with HERSELF.
In this episode, Krysta talks about why having a coach is such a valuable tool, and how hiring a new type of coach to support her journey in 2024 is all about walking the walking, not just talking the talk -- that is, recommitting to boundaries and rebranding selfishness as an act of true self-care. The Fitness FYX is on a mission to show women that putting themselves first is the exact mindset that will make them the best moms, partners, daughters, sisters, and friends they aspire to be. And as the brand's founder, Krysta is committing to embodying that message in her own personal life in 2024.
Krysta shares her top intentions for 2024 which include:
- being more mindful and present with daily activities, even the smallest of tasks like cleaning dishes
- finding hobbies outside of fitness, like spending more time intentionally enjoying activities like cooking and experimenting with new recipes rather than rushing through meals
- establishing an evening routine and cutoff times for work each night
While these intentions may seem simple or even obvious, the goal is exactly that -- mastering the basics and getting really good at the foundation is actually the key to long-term, sustainable fat loss, and weight loss results that actually last. In an effort to hold herself accountable and take you along on this journey, Coach Krysta will be sharing monthly updates as she explores a new relationship with herself in this year.

THE FYX 135: What it Actually Takes for Faster, Simpler Fat Loss with My Nutrition Coach Aram Grigorian
We have our FIRST ever repeat guest in this episode, where Coach Krysta sits down with her own nutrition coach, Aram Grigorian. Aram is a seasoned, respected coach in the fitness space, and first joined us on The FYX back in July 2021. If you like what you hear in this conversation, be sure to check that one out, too. As you'll quickly catch on, Aram has a no bullish*t, no fluff, objective take on all things fitness and nutrition -- this is one of those episodes that will call you out (with love, of course). If you're someone who wonders WHY you continue to choose habits that just aren't serving your desired physique goals, this episode will strip away the excuses and leave you with a clear list of roadblocks to look at to move the needle forward on your health in 2024.
In this episode, Krysta and Aram discuss:
- Krysta's own nutrition roadblocks along her own journey
- The emotional side of nutrition and food, and how our experiences with food is much like that of drugs and alcohol--though too many of us are uncomfortable to make that correlation
- Why eating out (specifically how often we're doing it) can be such a hurdle in losing body fat
- How to get results that truly LAST
- Whether your approach to training is actually working for you: spoiler alert -- you're probably not working as hard in the gym as you *think* you are
- Aram's upcoming conference, The Real Coaches Summit -- and why YOU should buy a ticket for it

Looking for a little dose of reality or just a kick in the booty to ring in the New Year? Perfect -- we're serving it up to you in this episode, which is actually a re-run from one of Coach Krysta's close friends, fitness industry peer, and fellow podcast host Courtney Lombardo. Courtney is the founder of Rise Fitness Transformations and Host of The Messy Action Podcast. Coach Krysta joined Courtney on The Messy Action Podcast in November to share some straight up, brutally honest hot takes on the fitness industry and dieting culture.
Our longtime listeners know we keep it real here--and we figured there'd be no better way to kick off 2024 than to bring the heat on what's in and what's out in this new year and new season. If you're looking for the drive to finally make this THE YEAR you make lifelong change, then this episode is one you don't want to miss. Courtney and Krysta discuss some of the "touchier" subjects in the fitness industry such as:
- The whole idea of "balance:" is it achievable or is it bullsh*t? - Ozempic and our opinions as nutrition coaches
- The peaks and valleys in your fitness journey: hint -- it's not always a steady race to losing fat and building muscle
- The habits and mindset genuinely required to see results
- How "participation trophy culture" is creating a new generation of people who aren't willing to put in the work, or are chasing quick fixes

THE FYX 133: Keeping Healthy Ice Cream Cool with Stephen Longo of Orka Bar
We're keeping things very cool--ice cold, in fact--for our final episode of 2023. This week, Coach Krysta is joined by Stephen Longo, fellow entrepreneur and creator of what is sure to be a FYX fan favorite, Orka Bars.
Orka Bars are a refreshingly cold and creamy, protein packed treat you won’t believe are made from egg whites. The egg white base makes them fluffy and easier to digest, so your body gets the nutrients it needs. Stephen is on a mission to refresh the cold category with this healthier ice cream alternative: Orka Bars are made entirely of real ingredients, no artificial flavors and no GMOs. By volume, bars are made up of low FODMAP ingredients that make it easier to digest and faster for the body to absorb. All bars are packed with 15g of protein, currently come in four flavors – Cookies ‘n’ Cream, Vanilla, Mint and Raspberry. And for our local Jersey listeners out here, Stephen is actually whipping up the bars with his own two hands (and the help of some family and friends), right here in Asbury Park, NJ.
All we're gunna say is, don't count on Orka being hyperlocal for too long. Once you get your hands on one---keep scrolling for the link to place an order--you'll know exactly why we're certain that this brand is on the come up. When Stephen makes it big, we'll be sure to remind him who repped the brand hardest when he first got going (aka, us FYX listeners).
In this episode, Krysta and Stephen discuss:
- Stephen's career path: from Big 4 Accounting Consultant to entrepreneur
- What influenced Stephen's path into entrepreneurship: it's actually more of a gut feeling and curiosity than the upbringing you might expect
- Stephen's first invention before the Orka Bar: a collapsible, tupperware container
- How Stephen's handled career burn out, and navigated a lack of purpose in his first few years out of college--a story that so many of us can relate to
- His love for Klondike Bars as a kid, and how that would ultimately inspire product development for Orka Bar
- Stephen's vision and plans for growth with the ice cream brand
- Why we need a healthy shake up in the freezer section.

We're coming up on one of our last episodes of 2023 and this one is for all of the mamas and parents out there--whether you already have children, are currently trying to conceive, have plans for a family in the future, or have a family member who would like to start a family--there is seriously something in this episode for everyone.
In this episode, Coach Krysta is joined by Dr. Hanisha Patel, a licensed Naturopathic Physician and a leading expert in integrative natural medicine. Dr. Patel graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and received her medical education at Bastyr University California in San Diego. She dealt with her own autoimmune and infertility issues and now is extremely passionate about supporting women in optimizing their hormones so they can have a healthy pregnancy and postpartum experience. She shifts the paradigm and focuses on the mama in a world so focused on babies. She wants all women to truly enjoy motherhood. She hopes to support women in truly enjoying motherhood and she believes this can happen when she experiences optimal health. And when mama is healthy, everyone else in the family is happy and healthy as well.
Hanisha and Krysta discuss:
-Understanding endocrine disruptors in our environment: how things like shampoo, and cleaning products may play into fertility
- how our US medical system treats fertility: what's missing, what's working, and what needs to change long term
- the power of blending Eastern and Western medicine
- how Hanisha's cultural upbringing inspires her approach to medical care
- understanding stress on the body and the role it plays in trying to conceive

THE FYX 131: 3 Years of THE FYX Podcast: Ditching Balance and Embracing the Basics
We are CELEBRATING 3 YEARS OF THE FYX this week--in a really big way. Coach Krysta is ringing in 3 years and over 130 episodes with a solo episode where she reflects on the journey over the past three years, and opens up about her own personal fitness journey in the last 12 months. In this episode, Krysta highlights how important it is to be okay with being a beginner again. She also explains why the idea of balance really isn't possible--namely, when we have certain priorities, some responsibilities just have to take precedence over other--and there's nothing wrong with that. Krysta shares that so many Fitness FYX clients identify with putting themselves last, specifically because they are overloaded with so many other priorities and responsibilities. Krysta challenges the idea of putting yourself last as a "badge of honor," and urges you to consider the following:
- You already have all of the skills and tools you need to be successful in your fat loss routine
- You DO NOT need to completely drop your health and wellness "ball" that you're juggling, rather you can lower its position on the totem poll
- The basics are not only required to achieve fat loss, but mastering them actually makes it easier to commit to a plan for forever
- Why your all-or-nothing mindset is leading you to self-sabotage
- Why your all-or-nothing mindset is convincing you that you're going to fail with your fat loss goal
- How coaching, support, and accountability will guarantee your success
- That it's okay to be afraid of failure, but it's not okay to allow that fear to prevent you from taking action

THE FYX 130: Embracing Self-Care: Your Shield Against Burnout with Mindset Expert Annette Weiss
Coach Krysta sits down with Mindset Coach Annette Weiss to talk all things burn out, finding your purpose in the world, and leading from a place of intentional selfishness in order to be your absolute BEST version of YOU. Growing up in organized religion, spending time as a women’s ministry director, 20+ years of being an entrepreneur, and mentoring new business owners in mindset development, Annette firmly believed that being “selfless” and putting other’s needs before her own was the proper common denominator for her life. In 2021, after the consecutive loss of her two most influential mentors, her parents, she came to the abrupt end of life as she knew it. Little did she know that with her selfless mindset, combined with various life traumas, it would lead to complete burn out. She then put her years of leadership to work and began the exhilarating journey of self-discovery. Today, Annette uses her combined experiences, passion and expertise to teach and equip others how to break their habitual cycles, set personal and/or business goals, and lean into the freedom of living the life they have always dreamed of.
In this episode, Krysta and Annette discuss:
- Why women tend to pour from an empty cup, especially as mom's, and the societal messaging that contributes to that mentality being the "right thing" to do
- How losing both of her parents within less than a year of one another led to Annette's own burn out
- How Annette found herself again--specifically the daily routines and habits she incorporated to create better boundaries in her life. These habits include: waking up early, journaling, and exercise, to name a few
- Annette's willingness to go through what she calls her mental 'filing cabinet' and why you should do the same to face your traumas head-on
- Why doing the DEEP WORK matters and can be so transformative in changing your future, and outlook on life
- Understanding self-care as mindset work, facing your traumas--not just the cold plunges, massages, saunas, and so on...
- Annette's experience having a distinct spirtual moment with God, Universe, Source (what you believe is irrelevant to the work you can do in your life) that completely changed the course of her life
- Annette's experience with writing a book

THE FYX 128: Want the Best Results? Align your Training and Rehab with Your Specific Goals feat. Dr. Mike Bruno
Coach Krysta is joined by Dr. Mike Bruno, owner of Nav Rehab Chiropractic in Brielle, NJ. Dr. Mike is a licensed chiropractor, athletic trainer and movement specialist. Mike prioritizes the long-term health of his clients while keeping them in the driver's seat with your healthcare decisions. Much like The Fitness FYX, Nav Rehab is all about the balance between longevity and empowerment.
What stood out to us about Mike's philosophy is how much he encourages his patients to stay active throughout the process of working with him. Mike wants his clients learn how to move in a way that is easy-to-understand, and aims to have them leave with the skills, tools, and confidence to fix future problems on their own.
In this episode, Mike and Krysta discuss:
- Mike's career path from high school athlete to athletic trainer, and ultimately, chiropractor
- Why it's important for your recovery practices, injury prevention, and injury management to mimic the movements you desire to engage in in every day life and your training
- How necessary it is to get clear on your goals, especially when you have multiple goals with methods that can compete with one another
- The benefit to working with a coach, trainer, chiropractor in order to develop an effective game plan that gets you the results you desire as fast and as efficiently as possible
- Why rehab-style exercises should be enjoyable for clients, in order to maintain consistency

THE FYX 127: Why DOING Matters More than Your WILL to Lose Weight
Anyone can TRY to lose weight and change their physique, but not everyone really makes an effort. In this solo episode, Coach Krysta breaks down the difference between WILL power and DO power. In a conversation with The Fitness FYX 1:1 coaching clients, The FYX community discusses:
- Why will power isn't "enough" to actually change your lifestyle
- How we define 'DO power' --aka actually following through and executing
- Why DO power is required in making changes to your lifestyle that will help you lose body fat, and more importantly, keep it off.
- How both DO power and will power are stronger inside of a community of aligned people, all working toward common goals and supporting one another

THE FYX 125: It's NOT Your Diet, it's How You're Handling Life Transitions
Do you really need to learn how much protein to consume in order to lose body fat? Is it just your going out to eat and drinks on the weekends that are preventing you from actually losing the weight, feeling confident in your clothes, and looking good year-round? Not exactly--yet that's what we all fixate on. And by we, I even mean professionals in this industry:
In this solo episode, Coach Krysta shares a recent recording from one of The Fitness FYX 1:1 Tuesday night group coaching calls, where the entire 1:1 client community joins us on Zoom to discuss a different topic every single week. This week's is all about LIFE TRANSITIONS. Think about--what interrupts your ability to consistently hit a protein goal, or regularly get to the gym? It's not the actual fitnes stuff--it's the life stuff: It's moving; it's kids activities; it's your job; it's family obligations; it's dinner with friends. All good things (most of the time, hopefully). Yet, we put all of our energy into the doing of the habits required to get to our weight loss goals. While that's necessary of course, it begs the question: is our mindset centered on the right stuff?
Coach Krysta shares how much she questions this idea when clients tend to fall off or leave the program due to busyness and overwhelm. In reality, that's actually THE BEST time to lean into a coach's support and accountability. Looking for that support in your life? The holiday season is upon us and it's ALWAYS a busy one. Give yourself the gift of the faster route (a coach and a program with a real plan you can follow no matter what life throws your way) by applying for our 1:1 coaching program.

Brian is a fellow Jersey resident (who also loves Rook Coffee just as much as Coach Krysta), and founder of two fitness studios in Rumson and Colts Neck NJ: Aspire Fitness. In this episode, Krysta and Brian discuss:
- How the fitness and wellenss industry has elvolved to make it harder and more confusing to lose weight and get strong

THE FYX 120: The Power of Eating MORE with Reverse Dieting
This episode is a replay from a recent interview with Coach Krysta in the hot seat on a fellow nutrition and fitness podcast show, called The Fit Farming Food Mom. Coach Krysta sat down with host Connie Nightingale to share more about her personal fitness and nutrition journey--everything from how Krysta got into coaching, how she personally found macro tracking, and how her relationship to food, working out, and everything in between has shaped The Fitness FYX program into what it is today. As Coach Krysta explains to her clients often: The Fitness FYX coaching method is structured in a way that prevents clients from repeating the "mistakes" that Coach Krysta did. While there aren't truly mistakes along the journey, there are certainly lessons. The biggest one for Coach Krysta personally? Learning how to eat more--with intention.
In this conversation, Krysta and Connie break down:
- What reverse dieting--a hot diet buzz word--actually is and how it works
- Why there's power in thoughtfully increasing your calories and focusing on nutrition from a place of abundance, not scarcity
- How high-intensity bootcamp style classes only afforded Krysta results for so long
- How Krysta neglected sleep, recovery, and stress management in her early 20s, all while operating on lower-calorie diets
- How Krysta realized stress was impacting her body negatively
- What led to a rapid weight gain for Coach Krysta in 2020-2021, and how she's navigated fat loss since
If you'd like to learn more about whether you'd be the right candidate to try reverse dieting, The Fitness FYX has officially lots its newest free resource: our METABOLIC ASSESSMENT takes the guesswork out of whether you should consider eating more vs. eating less. THE FYX 119: Feeling Stuck? Reframe the Past to Change Your Future
Coach Krysta is back with a similar episode format we ran in July, where we let The FYX listeners in on one of our group coaching calls with The Fitness FYX 1:1 client community. This week, we're diving into the growth mindset. We had a group discussion about how we view our pasts, specificially, how we're the storytellers and creators of the narrative we use to describe something in our rear view.
When it comes fitness and nutrition, Coach Krysta believes that the stories we tell ourselves--the way we view our pasts--keep us from losing the weight we'd like to lose, despite knowing a lot of what it takes to actually make the changes in our lives. Coach Krysta opens up about her personal experiences in the past 4 years, and how she's chosen to rewrite the narrative for herself. Krysta shares more about:
- How she struggled to get back into a fitness routine after taking several months off in 2020 when gyms closed
- The shame she initially felt around trying to navigate her coaching career as someone who'd gained weight in a short time, and stopped working out altogether
- How her mess is now her message
- How much more relatable she feels to clients who struggle with weight loss and to The FYX community
- How The Fitness FYX coaching method has evolved because of Krysta's personal experiences, missteps, lessons, and priorities
Krysta also references a past podcast episode on how to address the F*ck it moments. To listen to that episode: THE FYX 078, from August 2022, CLICK HERE

THE FYX 118: Faces of The FYX feat. Samantha Riley
We're back with this month's edition of Faces of The FYX, featuring client Samantha Riley, who is also a member of The Fitness FYX team as our operations assistant. Sam joined The Fitness FYX program almost one year ago and in that time has completely transformed both physically and mentally. She's dropped more than 20 pounds in less than 10 months, all while intentionally eating more food to support a healthy metabolism, and find the elusive balance eveyone claims to be looking for when it comes to eating healthy, losing weight, and saying yes to foods and drinks that would've previously stalled our progress. In this episode, Krysta and Sam discuss:
- Sam's past dieting attempts, which consisted mostly of restrictive diets and pre-made meals like Nutrisystem
- How The Fitness FYX method has changed Sam's relationship with food--for the better
- Sam's fitness journey from Orange Theory to Crossfit and now strength training in the gym solo
- Why anyone looking to lose fat and build muscle should commit to a program for at least one year

THE FYX 117: Lose Body Fat and Build Muscle this Fall in Your Disciplined Girl Era
Fall is in full swing with Labor Day Weekend just behind us, and it's time. It's time you made good on the promises you committed to back in early June, just after Memorial Day--you know, when you said you'd revisit your weight loss goals after the summer was over. I somewhat hate to be the one to say this, FYX listener, but the summer is over, and that means you have a decision to make: take action or continue to kick the proverbial can down the road.
In this episode, Coach Krysta provides a blueprint for a few simple habits you can implement in your life to see radical change to your physique--it includes the exact habits that all of The Fitness FYX clients focused on inside of our 1:1 coaching program. To create momentum for the month of September, The Fitness FYX Community is hosting an internal habits-based challenge and you too can be a part. This episode lays out the parameters and also explains why these habits are so impactful when it comes to fat loss. For the rest of the month commit to the following and watch your body--and mindset--begin to transform:
1. Limit meals out to 1-2x per week
2. Cut weekly average alcohol consumption in half
3. Hit your daily protein goal (aim for your bodyweight in grams of protein)
4. Consume at least 80 oz. of water daily
5. Add a 30-min. walk to your routine to increase your daily average steps by at least 2,000
6. Minimum 7 hours sleep or increase your daily average by at least 30 minutes
7. Strength train 4-5 days a week, focusing on a resistance and rep range where the last 2-3 reps are close to failure for each set

THE FYX 116: We're Over It: Fitness & Nutrition Myths We're Tired of
Coach Krysta has a short list of fitness and nutrition myths and claims that we're just done with--statements we're tired of hearing, and lies that are still being spread by fad diets and social media. By no means is this episode an exhaustive list, but we asked The Fitness Team, our clients, and our followers to weigh in with the comments and beliefs they're so done with. To name a few covered in the episode:
- "I can’t eat that, I’m on a diet." or "I can’t go out to dinner with friends because I can’t eat anything on the menu"
- Lower calories will get you faster or more dramatic weight loss
- "I’m not making progress because the scale isn't moving."
- "What’s the secret?" There is no secret
- Food tracking food is too time consuming
- You can't drink alcohol if you want to lose weight
- High reps with low weight will get you toned
- Heavier weights will make you bulky
- Bread is bad for you
- You’re not losing weight because of your hormones
- I can’t afford to pay that much (yet they’re going out to dinner 2-3x a week)
- I have no time to workout or meal prep
- I’ll just start again on Monday

THE FYX 115: Knowing When to Pivot in Your Fat Loss Journey
In this solo episode, Coach Krysta dives into two fundamental questions around assessing what actually WORKS for us when it comes to the way we exercise--and eat--and how much time we should really put into a certain program before deciding that it is or isn't helping us get closer to our fat loss goals.
Episode Highlights:
- Many clients struggle with deciphering whether the effort they're putting in actually aligns with the results they're seeing. Coach Krysta explores some of the common myths that people rely on to measure the effectiveness of their workouts like how much they sweat, the calorie burn tracked on their Apple Watch, or how much variety they're getting on a weekly basis.
- Effort and focus: Are you at a point in your fitness journey where you've dedicated enough time and energy into exploring just one area, like your nutrition, to confrim that it works for you? We juggle a lot of variables when it comes to our bodies, and are often overwhelmed by trying to manage it all. With The Fitness FYX method, most clients typically start with nutrition. Once we set that foundation, we can then determine what results they may be leaving on the table from their workout routines.
- How do we initiate change? Where do we even begin when we're dissatisfied with our progress? I'll guide you through practical steps--like hiring a coach--to put a plan together that actually gives you the body you want.
- The power of maturity in your fitness journey: When is it actually time to level up? It's not about constantly chasing novelty or the latest fitness trends. It's about consistency and foundational movements.
- The importance of matching methods to goals: Are you tempted to mimic someone else's approach to fitness just because it worked for them? If you want your approach to last, YOU have to take ownership of the process, even under the guidance of a coach.

THE FYX 110: The Top 4 Areas I’d Prioritize if I was Starting Over in a Weight Loss Journey
In this episode, Coach Krysta discusses her personal fitness and nutrition journey, the lessons she has learned along the way, and specifically the top 4 things she would focus on if she had to start over in losing weight and building muscle today: 1. Put more emphasis on recovery: sleep and reducing stress 2. Spend more time learning how to NOT diet—tracking macros from a place of flexibility vs. rigidity 3. Learning to lift heavier more consistently—specifically more time spent on the SAME movements and advancing with progressive overload 4. Enjoy the process—you don’t need to say no to going out to eat, travel. Make some adjustments to your lifestyle but don’t begin this journey with the impression that a complete 180 is required. That never lasts.

THE FYX 109: Have MORE FUN if You Want to Successfully Lose Weight
Coach Krysta is back with another solo episode where she shares some perspective and realizations from a client check-in this week: specifically, the relationship between fat loss and fun. We spend so much time focusing on reducing stress (and the importance of managing stress) when it comes to finding success and even ease in losing weight. But maybe we're doing ourselves a disservice by focusing on the negative that is stress vs. the positive that is FUN. And fun means more than simply enjoying the process, it means simply living your life, enjoying the company around you, your experiences, expressing gratitude--all in ways that don't necessarily revolve around food choices, drinks, or fitness.
Krysta also shared a post to a recent thread on this same topic:
"Think about something you’re really good at. There are likely two reasons you’re skilled in whatever it is:
1. You ENJOY it.
2. You’ve put in a lot of EFFORT—or at the very least, time.
Feel like you’re “bad” at attempting to lose weight and frustrated because “nothing works?”
1. Find some FUN in the process.
2. Actually put TIME into that process.

THE FYX 108: Learning isn’t Executing: Why You Need BOTH To Lose Weight & Keep it Off
Coach Krysta kicks off the month of July with a solo episode where she talks through the importance of learning, education, and knowledge—but also how powerless information is if we don’t DO anything with it. This episode is for you if you’re someone who feels they know a lot about fitness and nutrition—or at least enough that you should be seeing results from your efforts. If you’re not, it’s time examine your behavior. Are you actually putting that information into practice? And are you putting that information into practice REGULARLY?

THE FYX 106: How to Get Past Your Excuses
Coach Krysta is coming at you with a quick solo episode in this podcast on the big E word -- EXCUSES. Why do we have them? Ironically, it's a self-preservation tool to maintain our self-confidence. Yet, they're the very thing stopping you from building more confidence. In this episode, Coach Krysta shares the top 4 excuses she hears from clients and has experienced in her own life when it comes to her fitness and nutrition journey. These include:
- "I don't have enough time" or "I'm too busy."
- "I need something that's more efficient or convenient when it comes to my food options."
- "If I'm not executing on everything perfectly--from my workouts, to my sleep, to my food choices--there's no point in trying to lose weight at all."
- "Other people's schedules get in the way of my own."
Tune in to hear each reframe Krysta suggests for each of these excuses. And if you need more support, The Fitness FYX Coaching staff is here for YOU. We're currently accepting 1:1 clients into our program. Click HERE to apply.

THE FYX 105: Navigating Change Through Planning & Flexibility
Today's episode features Coach Krysta in a previous interview with friends, FYX Podcast Guests, and fellow nutrition coaches, Lexi DeYoung and Melissa Ebling. Krysta joined Melissa on their podcast, The Alignment Show, in March 2023 to share her story. With new listeners checking out The FYX Podcast and a recent change in direction in Krysta's business, we wanted to share Krysta's background--and how The Fitness FYX program has evolved into what it is today. In this conversation with Melissa, Krysta shares more about her journey from the corporate world into entrepreneurship and creating her own coaching business, her journey with heartbreak, and finding her true purpose. Krysta also discusses her relationship with food and fitness--and how it's ebbed and flowed over the last years. The number one lesson Krysta's learned? The only outcome we can control in life is how we RESPOND. And fitness and nutrition, specifically how we prioritize them, are included in our response to any situation.
Check out The Alignment Show and Krysta's intervew with Lexi and Melissa for The FYX Episode 099 on all things mindful eating.

THE FYX 104: Are Weekends to Blame for Your Weight Gain?
In this episode, Coach Krysta shares her take on weekend behavior--and how it impacts her own fat loss goals, as well as her clients' fat loss goals. Krysta shares a conversation she recently had with a client around our approach to eating on the weekends. Krysta discusses the mentality and perspective that many of us hold around the weekends, specifically the idea that it's our time to relax and unwind. Seeing weekends as synonymous with decompressing quickly turns into weekends stalling our weight loss journeys. If that's you, tune into this episode.
Coach Krysta offers solutions to ditch the weekend woes and guilt, one of which includes accountability and guidance through The Fitness FYX coaching program.

THE FYX 103: Your Recipe for a GUILT FREE Summer
Coach Krysta hits the mic solo in this week's episode to share perspective on why the summer is often one of the most challenging seasons to prioritize our fitness and nutrition. If you're someone who's always thought, "There's no sense in dieting over the summer," then this episode is for YOU!
If you're someone who typically waits until the fall to get back into his or her health and fitness routine, heads up: The ONLY outcome you're guaranteeing is the fact that you're giving yourself LESS TIME to get in your best shape, improve your relationship with food, and feel confident in your swimsuit by next summer. You're increasing the chances of NOT losing body fat by next season.
Krysta explains why it's that much more helpful to have the support of a health coach, and a community of individuals cheering you on during the summer months--we're all going out to eat more, and enjoying drinks and ice cream in the summer sun. Krysta shares a few of the specific challenges her current clients faced with food and drink choices over the holiday weekend, and suggestions that The Fitness FYX 1:1 nutrition clients came up with during one of their recent group Zoom calls. We're giving you an inside peek into the exact perspectives we share with our clients inside of our 1:1 program.
