On awareness & emotions
Sometimes we can be prey to our emotions. More specifically, to our emotional reactions. We swing like a pendulum between the highs and the lows of our emotions, and we just simply don’t have control over them. This can actually cause a lot of stress in us, and can lead to feeling powerless and to have poor interactions and relationships with others. In a nutshell, we become unreliable, nobody (not even us!) know how we are going to feel or react at a particular time. The problem is that if continue down this path of unconsciousness, we will never feel at ease, or at peace, and we will spend our life blaming others for how ‘they make us feel’. However, we can change that. We can take charge of our lives, and it can all start with practicing AWARENESS. And that’s my invitation for you today! I hope you enjoy listening today’s episode! The power of curiosity
The path of getting to know ourselves deeply can be tricky sometimes. Mainly because there are many things about us that we don’t want to see or acknowledge. And I get it, it can be tough to realise that we are not as nice as we think, or that we have amazing qualities we are afraid to show and bring to the world. So, this is when curiosity comes into place. Why? Well, because we can use it as a tool to explore more of who we are, and dive into the depths of our behaviour and patterns of thought from a slightly detached place, where we go with an open mind instead of a judgemental one. Curiosity is the gentle key that opens the doors to growth and healing within. It’s a powerful tool for transformation. So, what do say? Why self-care is important
Self-care can take different shapes and forms for each one of us. We are, at the end of day, all different, and we experience the world and our life in different ways. What I find fascinating, is that we ALWAYS know what we need in order to take care of ourselves, and yet, most of the time we fail to take action and provide that for us. The result: we end up sick, unwell, overwhelmed, stressed out, among other things. So, I think it’s safe to say that self-care is an important piece in the puzzle of our health and of living a harmonious life. Don’t you think? What would it take for you to start doing what your whole being is asking for? Three powerful ways to start building trust in yourself
Trusting ourselves can be one of the most courageous things we can do. Why? Because in order to trust ourselves we must take the risk of following our intuition, of keeping our promises and of being there, by our side, when things are going great. However, most of us don’t even know where to start when it comes trusting, both in us and in others. Our self-talk is loaded with expressions such as “ I can’t do it”, “I wouldn’t trust myself”, never ending “I don’t knows” and much more!, leading us to outsource our life decisions (and fulfilment) to others. We basically end up giving our power away. So, reclaiming trust in ourselves is key in order for us to live to our fullest potential and stepping away from fear. How to accept where we are right now
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. -Reinhold Niebuhr Sometimes we get stuck and ruminate on everything we can’t change. We resist the situations that we don’t like or that make us feel uncomfortable, or we simply run away from them. We just can’t accept. What we don’t realise is that by doing this, we are actually creating stress in our body and mind, and of course a lot emotional and even physical pain. However, we ALWAYS have the opportunity to practice acceptance, and in this way, open the gateways for present and past situations to show us their gifts, to help us see that everything that happens in our life has a purpose, that nothings happens by chance. Acceptance, when practiced consciously, becomes the key that opens the doors of possibility and growth. In this episode I share with you four simple ideas (or invitations) that you can start using straight away to bring more acceptance into your life, no matter what you are going through. We can have a rocky relationship with it, but when we face it from the perspective of growth, then it becomes a need, rather than something to avoid.  However, most of us are not aware of how we deal with challenges, obstacles and uncertainty in our lives. How to manage or deal with frustration with the help of EFT
Feeling. Sometimes, many of us, had to learn to feel, or are in the process of doing so. But, why? What’s the purpose of connecting to how we feel? Of noticing and being aware of what we are feeling? Well, because without that skill, we cannot heal and, therefore, we remain stuck. And so, today’s interview is about a type of technique that can help us tap into those feelings we didn’t even know existed, release them and move forward. My guest today is someone I love deeply. We are part of the whole, and what happens within us is a reflection of the outside, and vice versa. However, it is time to remember this connection! You are the help we've been waiting for!
In the last episode we talked about how we must all grieve the world that is gone in a conscious way, and how by doing that, by coming to a place of acceptance, we can move on and take proper action. Today, I would like to talk to you about something that moves me deeply, and that is, becoming an active agent of transformation in our world, because it is time we take responsibility for our role as creators, and start creating more of what we want to see in this new world, the one that is just starting! In today’s episode I share with you a paragraph from the book “A Return to Love” by Marianne Williamson, and would love to leave it here for you, mainly because it’s the inspiration for today’s talk. Accepting a changing world!
Yes, our world is changing, and quite rapidly. And for many of us, including myself, it felt as a bit of a shock. However, it is in bringing awareness to the emotions that are arising what will help us move into acceptance, and step into the New World with fresh eyes, with the feet on the ground and in the present, and ready to take on the new opportunities. As the world we knew does not exist anymore, we must grieve it consciously, so that we can move on and also become positive change agents for the world that is forming at the moment. Love in times of uncertainty
“Whatever the crisis, the fire of love will melt it.” -Mahatma Gandhi Uncertainty is part of our daily life. Yet, it seems that right now it’s looking at us right in the eye. And so, we are being called to learn to accept it (for once and for all! :P ), and to navigate it with a perspective that support us, instead of one that throws us into fear, worry and despair. It’s time for us to make use of our power of choice. Yes. That power that allows to choose how we feel about everything that happens in life, and of giving meaning to the different situations we are exposed to. It's time we become responsible for our decisions, and most importantly, it’s time we start living from the heart. The importance of making time to relax
One of the things I hear consistently is: “I am not able to relax, or “I can’t ‘stop’ my mind when I actually want to relax”. This is natural, especially if we have been teaching our mind to run fast, to multitask, and to never slow down. The thing is that when we make a habit of this, we usually tend to crash, and this can feel like anxiety, burn out, depression, dis-ease, among other things. However, we have the power of changing this. We have the power of bringing awareness to what’s not working well, and of going into the tool-box (that we all have) of what we already know, to help us create a habit of stopping, slowing down and relaxing. We also have the power of learning new tools to support us, of finding the right environment to nurture ourselves, and of letting go of habits, people & beliefs that no longer serve us. It’s time we make our priorities right. We cannot expect the world outside us change, if we are not willing to look within, to take care of ourselves, and, from that place, make an impact in this world. For most us, our current lifestyle involves living in a city where everything is provided for us (the good and the bad!), from plentiful of foods from around the world, no matter what season we are in, to other not so desirable things such as pollution, constant stress, and the effects these can have in our health. This, in my opinion, has helped us look again at ancient remedies, and at the wisdom of past cultures that have provided us with the solutions (and support) to be able to reclaim our natural state of balance and harmony. On Compassion, with Lama Tendar
“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.” - Dalai Lama Compassion, juts like LOVE, cannot really be defined by words. We can have an idea of what it is, but it’s only when we start consciously developing it in our hearts that we get it! And when we do this, when we practice it, our inner and outer world changes for the better! Last year, I had the opportunity to learn from a wonderful human being, and a great teacher, Lama Tendar. It was by being in his presence when I finally comprehended what compassion really is, and of the ability we all have to develop it. I learnt that compassion goes beyond feeling sorry for someone else, and it steps more into the realm of detachment, releasing suffering, acceptance and kindness, leading us, ultimately, to open our hearts to experience LOVE for ourselves and for others. So, when Lama Tendar said yes to being interviewed, I wanted to ask him about this topic, I wanted us to chat about compassion, so that you may experience this too. The Healing Power of Aromatherapy
In my quest for learning about tools for healing and treating mind, body and spirit, I’ve found aromatherapy to be a powerful, holistic, gift from nature! Mainly because it really activates our senses, especially our sense of smell and, (nearly) without noticing, it creates a profound effect in how we feel, how we think and in the health of our physical body too. Awareness through movement
We move every day. We walk, run, exercise, dance (hopefully a lot!); we also do lots of movements that we don’t even notice! We sit for long hours, or slouch on the couch. Returning to peace, stillness & flow (Part 1)
Sometimes, it may seem that our day to day life can never get to a point of peace, stillness and flow. We try very hard (or maybe not too hard) to bring in practices that help us feel good and at ease, yet our minds are still racing. And from this place accepting life as it is becomes a daunting task. So, what are we missing here? In the first part of this conversation with Lucy Proud, Women’s Circle Facilitator and Spiritual Teacher, we talked about the importance of feeling in order to experience stillness and be in the present moment. However, these days, feeling has been put aside, perhaps we are afraid of going there, and as a result we have given permission to the mind to take over. The interesting thing here is that feeling and thought cannot be separated, and so, the invitation is to learn to integrate them and in this way open up the doors to ‘flow’ in our lives. The power of kindness in a stressed out world!
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” -Maya Angelou Kindness is our innate ability to be open-hearted, generous, gentle, assertive and loving towards others and ourselves. Yet, we might feel that the world around us is teaching us the opposite. We are constantly bombarded with the idea that trusting others is dangerous, so, who wants to be kind when you are probably going to be taken advantage of, right? However, kindness is in our DNA. It runs through us, without it, we wouldn’t be able to live to our fullest potential. We are called both to offer kindness and to receive it. It is through acts of kindness that we connect at very deep levels, that we create community; that gratitude and appreciation are spread, that we can hold each other and… that we can heal from stress. Yep, it’s true. Kindness is the perfect antidote for releasing stress, and the most delicious, healing potion, because when you bring random acts of kindness to this world you are not only loaded with healing chemicals in your body such as serotonin and oxytocin, but you create a ripple effect that goes beyond what you can imagine, for the benefit of all! From managing stress to experiencing harmony: a new approach!
When stress goes out of control, so do we. Our perception of life changes, and our human experience starts to feel out of whack. So, what if we could start shifting from the concept of managing stress, to the one of reclaiming our harmony? A more supporting and empowering perspective that takes into account each one of us a whole and as unique beings. This idea became very clear to me after realising that our mind, body, emotions and Spirit want to be working together, not separately. It’s like a dance that always wants to take place within us, and that involves the WHOLE of us, not just one aspect of our human experience. And in this episode I dive a deeper into this concept!
