86: Mayday Interviews - Lzzy Hale (Halestorm)
Lzzy Hale has never exactly been one to play by the rules, or to conform to expectations. She is a child of the 90's, but was baptized into the church of 70's and 80's rock and roll and dove in head first, worshipping at the altar of the "foremothers of rock" like Ann Wilson, Joan Jett & Pat Benatar. She emerged and formed Halestorm, combining vocals that can seduce you one moment only to punch you in the face the next with her bandmates thunderous, buzzsaw cocktail of 90's grunge and nu metal. Throw in giant hooks and enough pop polish to make her foremothers proud and you have Halestorm.Justin sits down with Lzzy to talk about Halestorm's new album "Vicious", and what it's like being an influencer and foremother in her own right. Plus her takes on advocating for mental health and being that cartoon character that someone out there needs to see and why representation matters more than ever.Enjoy!

A little hope...a little fire...and a whole bunch of questions! Let's talk about it!
July 11, 2018
68: Bonus Interview! Eric Tuchman (E12 Writer)
The Handmaid's Tale on HULU leaves us once again with no idea where the show is going. Episode 12 "Postpartum" followed up the highly emotional, very different episode "Holly" in which June gives birth to her daughter. Writer Eric Tuchman is a veteran TV writer with a history of writing for strong female characters. He brings us an episode in which things unfold and reveal the depths of the flaws in Gilead's society and the toll that it takes on all involved. "Postpartum" sets in motion events, the long term effects of which are not yet known and sets up a finale that could go in any direction. We take a deep dive into "Postpartum" with the man who wrote it. Enjoy!
July 6, 2018
67: Bonus interview!- Sydney Sweeney (Eden)
We caught up with Sydney Sweeney a couple of week's ago to discuss her character Eden. The Handmaid's Tale brought Eden into the fold as Nick's child bride and has forced viewers to confront some very uncomfortable topics along the way. Sydney Sweeney joins us to talk about joining the cast after season one, what she thinks about those contreversial story lines and how she flips the switch from Sydney to Eden. Enjoy!
July 5, 2018
66: The Handmaid's Tale on HULU S2/E12 - "Postpartum"
With two episodes to go in season 2 June once again finds herself in the Waterford house for tour number three. Every relationship is full of moving parts and volatile emotions as we head into the finale with more questions than answers. We finally get the answer to "Who is in the pool!?" as Eden and Isaac play star crossed lovers and end up paying the ultimate price. Meanwhile Serena has what she's always wanted but it may not quite be what she bargained for. We also get our Bradley Whitford sighting as Emily is stationed with Commander Lawrence, the "architect of Gilead's economy" who is.....a bit of a mystery. Bottom line...there is one episode after this and we have ZERO idea as to where it's going.
July 4, 2018
65: Bonus Interview! Warren Littlefield (Executive Producer)
We could listen to Warren Littlefield talk all day long about television. The man is a legend in the business having resided over NBC during one of the most remarkable runs for a TV network ever. He also happens to be the Executive Producer for The Handmaid's Tale on HULU! Working side by side with Bruce Miller to deliver one of the most talked about, relevant, well produced television shows in recent memory. Jennifer White with Slacker radio sat down with Warren Littlefield to talk about success, poltiics, race and more. He's the TV zen master, enjoy the interview!
June 28, 2018
64: The Handmaid's Tale on HULU S2/E11 - "Holly"
The Handmaid's Tale on HULU follows up one of their most intense and violent episodes with something entirely different. In S2/E11 - "Holly" we essentially get a one woman show as Elisabeth Moss absolutely puts one of the best performances of her run on The Handmaid's Tale. As June finds herself in the middle of nowhere, having just seen Hannah and Nick taken away, she steels herself and focuses on the two things she can control. Herself, and the baby. The only break in the Elisabeth Moss show comes in the form of an epic meltdown of a scene with Fred and Serena. It it small but it is mighty! Yvonne Strahovski leaves no doubts as to whether she should be at the top of all the award nomination lists as she somehow manages to plunge us further into the depths of Serena's pit of misery. This is the kind of episode that makes you appreciate everything about this show as HULU and Co. somehow raise the bar yet again.
June 27, 2018
63: Bonus Interview! Yahlin Chang (Writer S2/E10)
Yahlin Chang joins Mayday to discuss that gutwrenching episode of The Handmaid's Tale....because she is the one that wrote it! We try to get into the mind of the woman that created one of the most bleek episodes of television we've seen in a long time. Listen, learn, and really...she's pretty great and funny and was a blast to interview!
June 23, 2018
62: Bonus Interview! Kate Kelly (
Kate Kelly from EqualityNow.Org talks to Mayday about their new campaign #HopeLivesInEveryName.Equality Now has partnered with HULU and The Handmaid’s Tale to illustrate that even though the show is fiction, the violence women and girls face in the series is reality for millions around the world. 61: Bonus Interview! Bruce Miller (showrunner)
The Handmaid's Tale on HULU is the baby of Bruce Miller a longtime television writer and producerwho serves as the show's creator and showrunner. Bruce knows all! You know that thing that happened that made you freak out? Yeah, he made that happen. Or that thing that made you cry or laugh or just cover your eyes. Yep, all that comes from Bruce and his amazing creative team. We had the pleasure of interviewing Bruce and having him answer some of your burning questions (thank you social media followers!) as well as discussing being a man running a show that focuses on the opression of women, and a ton more including a chat about his father's influence on his work, just in time for Father's day. Take a listen and enjoy! You're gonna learn alot.

June 21, 2018
59: Bonus Interview! O-T Fagbenle (Luke)
Ok, we admit it, in season one we talked more than a fair amount of trash about Luke...and now we feel entirely justified! O-T Fagbenle joines Slacker Radio's Jennifer White for an interview to talk about all things Luke. Did he do enough? Does he blame himself? #TeamNick or #TeamLuke? All things revealed in our interview with actor O-T Fagbenle aka Luke from The Handmaid's Tale!
June 14, 2018
58: The Handmaid's tale on HULU S2/E9 - "Smart Power"
The Handmaid's Tale ventures to the Great White North! Serena, Fred, and Nick take the Gilead show on the road to try and prove to the world that none of the horrible true things you've heard about them are true....but we all know how things end up with Stupid Fred in charge don't we? Moira, Luke and Erin lead the VERY unwelcoming party to greet the Stupid Fred and the gang and ultimately foil their evil plans as Nick delivers those Mayday letters and Luke finally "takes care" of something (after Erin suggests it). Meanwhile we get to see Serena choose her own adventure from the Denny's children's intenary and decide whether treason and coconuts are better than a life as a terrible gardener with a wortless husband. Crystal, special guest Angie, and Justin are here to break down all the action....and Fred would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you meddling American refugees!

Unbelievable. They did it and we can't believe it. The Handmaid's Tale on HULU ends on a non-flashback happy moment! What an absolutely fantastic job by everyone in this episode. Yvonne Strahovski is absolutely award worthy in her performance in this episode. Madeline Brewer absolutely brings the heat and delivers some of the most purely human moments that this show has ever seen. Fred somehow ups his stock as THE WORST!!! Ugh. This show. Sarah and Justin are here to break it all down. Enjoy and thank you for listening.

All of this culminates with a step into the dark or..the light. Season 2 cannot get here soon enough!
October 17, 2017
9: Let's talk about Episode 9: "The Bridge"
Hey you know what Janine deserves? A nice quite vacation? Some alone time with the child she gave birth to? A hug? Things are picking up as plot lines are quickly coming to a head. Offred and Mayday, Mr and Mrs Putnam....and Mr Putnams arm. No limb is safe as things are really heating up in Gilead! One episode left!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into Gilead! Wow. When Serena Joy is away Fred will play, thus we get our introduction to creepy, psycho, hellish fever dream that is Jezebels. The only not terrible thing that we witness at Jezebels is a lovely....if heartbreaking reunion with Moira. We find out all about the details behind the daring and failed escape attempt that opened the season as we follow Luke on his path to "Little America!" A great episode that shows the fresh residue of the Gilead takeover as it makes its way across the country. Luke does everything in his power to make all the possible wrong decisions about all of the things. Its actually kind of impressive. 6: Let's talk about Episode 6: "A Woman's Place"
This week they lighten things up a bit with a super fun party for all the handmaids. HAHAHAHA, just kidding, this episode is totally messed up just like the rest of them. Tensions are running HIGH as a group from Mexico, including the Mexican ambassador are paying a visit to Gilead. Seems they want to do a little trading...but with what and for what.....or whom? Yeah, its like that. We get more fun back story on Fred and Serena in the pre-Gilead era as it starting to look more and more like Serena is the brains behind this operation. Its a super creepy episode complete with poor Janine getting left of the party, Serena Joy asserting herself and saving (depending on your perspective) the day. More Nick things happen as Nick is at his most Nick here in this episode. PLUS! BOOM! Guess who's alive....
October 17, 2017

“Better never means better for everyone,” ....the understatement of the season.  The commander starts his quick turn to creepy-town as we get more into his character. We get some more flashbacks to June and Luke's relationship origin. All this and a brief reunion with ....the artists formerly known as OfGlen....currently known as Ofsteven....always known as Emily. Plus some interesting and unexpected perspective from Fake Fake Ofglen.

Nolite Te Bastardes Carborundorum, learn it, live it know it. Offred is losing it as she has been banished to her room for almost two weeks by evil queen Serena Joy. She finds some solace in a mysterious message written in her closet, but what does it mean and what happened to the person that wrote it? We take the express lane to creepy town with the doctors visit and Nick turns in a very, very.....Nick performance as Offred cracks in the limo.
