Jorge Zamanillo is the founding director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino, which Congress established in December 2020. In legislation establishing the museum within the Smithsonian, Congress stated the purpose of the museum is “to illuminate the story of the United States for the benefit of all by featuring Latino contributions to the art, history and culture of the nation since its early history.”

While the Smithsonian evaluates possible locations for the new museum, Zamanillo is providing leadership and strategic direction for the museum. In addition, he is guiding the museum’s comprehensive plan to preserve, document, display/interpret and promote knowledge of U.S. Latino history, art and culture.

Keith Carswell is the Senior Advisor to the City Manager for Venture Miami and Economic Development. On todays episode we are joined by Mr. James Haj! Mr. James R. Haj joined The Children’s Trust as president and CEO in April 2016. With Mr. Haj at the helm, The Trust has enjoyed one of its most successful periods. Trust investment in programs and services for children and families in Miami-Dade County has risen to its highest levels, while administrative expenses are at their smallest percentage in the history of the organization. Haj previously served as an assistant superintendent at M-DCPS, working as its chief negotiator with five labor unions representing more than 31,000 full-time employees. Before that, he served as administrative director for M-DCPS’ south and central regions, during which time he collectively oversaw 170 schools and nearly 200,000 students. In that capacity, he provided one-on-one support and guidance to principals and assistant principals regarding curriculum and instruction; state accountability and school improvement; teacher evaluations and professional standards; and crisis response plans and student safety.

Public Sector experience most recently includes service as the 19th Lieutenant Governor of State of Florida (2014-2019). His career in elected office began in 2004 when he was elected to serve as a member of the Florida House of Representatives.

David Borrero is a Republican Member of the Florida House of Representatives, elected 2020. He was also City of Sweetwater Commissioner, Elected in 2017. Early on, he started at T&G Constructors, Inc., as the Project & Estimating Coordinator in June 2017. David holds a Masters in Business Administration and and a Bachelor in political science from Florida International University. Larry "The Amigo" Milian is a celebrated veteran radio host and executive, writer, journalist and teacher. Milian was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised from his teenage years in Miami and wears both childhood homes like a badge of honor. Milian began his media career covering high school and college sports for “The Miami Herald”. For the past 15 years, “The Amigo” has entertained Miami sports fans as the host of a number of popular talk radio programs in the market, including “The Dos Amigos Show”, the country’s first bilingual sports radio show, “Armando and The Amigo”, “Desayuno Deportivo” on ESPN Deportes and his current national morning drive show, “Good Mornin’ Amigo” on SLAM Radio.
Milian has mentored many well-known sports media personalities during his career. Today, Amigo brings his radio expertise and mentoring abilities into the classroom, serving as the National General Manager and Program Director for SLAM Radio, a first-of-its-kind SiriusXM sports and talk radio station, run by high school students from SLAM Charter Schools. Dr. Matthew Sowcik has been teaching for over 20 years and is currently an assistant professor of Leadership Development at the University of Florida. Originally from Wilkes-Barre, PA, Dr. Sowcik earned his Bachelor of Arts at Wilkes University, majoring in psychology and business, his Master of Arts is in organizational leadership from Columbia University. He followed that up with his doctorate in Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University. Dr. Sowcik is also an author of the book "The H Factor", a book focused around humility and why it is the mindset that is critical for leaders to move from good to great.

Sergio is a dynamic leader, Speaker, and Executive Coach with over twenty years of domestic and international business leadership experience. He is a former Student Body President as well as former President of the State Council of Student Body Presidents. His passion for coaching individuals and teams to maximize their potential has led him to break numerous national and international sales records while working at Caterpillar for over 14 years. He spent over 10 years living and working overseas in Geneva, Switzerland, Rome, Italy, and Panama City, Panama.

After Caterpillar, Sergio served as the Executive Director of Development for Florida International University’s College of Business, as well as the Executive Director of The Pacific Institute. He is currently CEO of Progress Partners Consulting, a boutique firm specializing in optimizing individual and team performance.
