Steve is the president of executive springboard, a company focused on accelerating new executives' impact and sustaining it long-term ultimately reducing the risk and cost of failed hires.

I chat to Steve about a huge range of topics including pivoting from one industry to another, being in the startup world, learning new industries and his guidance and advice on why executives in companies fail due to a lack of proper onboarding, guidance and coaching.

We also chat about his pride in his daughter Jess, I interviewed Jess all the way back in episode 5 about her new book and we chat about that along with how he navigated the corporate world at huge companies.

Steve started out in online merchandising in 2006 then moved into online reputation. Steve moved on to a start-up and quickly progressed through the ranks, seeing the company grow from a small number of employees in a kitchen to hundreds of employees post many mergers and acquisitions.

Craig is Group President, Asia Pacific for Marriott International. He is responsible for the strategic leadership of all operational and development functions spanning 24 countries and territories and  23 brands. He oversees more than 780 open hotels and 135,000 people.

Prior to his current position, Craig served two-and-a-half years as President of Marriott’s the Caribbean and Latin American region. Before moving to the Caribbean and Latin American region in 2011, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for the Asia Pacific region.

As a son of an American diplomat, Craig has lived in 13 countries, working in North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Australia.

In today's conversation we chat about everything from his time in Thailand, leading a team through the tsunami in 2004 to how Craig’s career began in housekeeping 30 years ago.

We talk about everything from Chinese supermarkets, building relationships at work, evaluating job opportunities, effective recruitment strategies and building teams

This week we chat to Paul Malcom. He was the VP of Sales Europe, Middle East and Africa at Marriott up until 2013 and then at Hilton. He also set up his own business in his home town in Australia called Chalkline consulting. 

There are a lot of people in this world given the name “legend”, to me, this guy is a true legend, on a personal note, he was one of the first senior leaders I interacted with when I started my career, he is inspirational, driven, passionate and cares about the people he works with.

Paul is a 36-year veteran of hospitality, working for two of the largest hotel and travel companies in the world, Marriott and Hilton. He has worked all over the world, travelled the world and led teams and inspired others. He worked up from a banquet waiter to Regional Vice President of sales and has some amazing stories and lessons to share.

Paul joined us from his home in Adelaide, Australia last week I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did.
