The OOKVISION Podcast

This episode is inspired by the highs and lows of skateboarding. Progression is constant, regardless of what stage you are at with your skateboarding.

How many times have you stepped on and off your board in order to learn to ride your Skateboard? Did you simply expect to be able to do it straight away? It’s the moments that we step off that we get back up and try again.

The way that we progress in Skateboarding encourages us to get back on board and try again. This is a skill and a mindset that pours over into everyday life too.

This episode is inspired by the joys of Skateboarding with my Son and taking him out on sessions with my friends. It’s a really Heart-warming feeling to see him in the presence of such great company and I love to see how excited he is to soak up the whole experience of being out skating with my closest friends.

From watching him pushing around, joining in on conversation, playing with them and talking about them before he falls asleep at night, it’s really amazing to see how much he appreciates Skating with role-models and Skate-Uncles.

Skateboarding has no age restrictions and it is inclusive when there is respect for Skateboarders and their environment. I’m loving to see how this unfolds and how it keeps me psyched on Skateboarding well into my mid 30’s.

I’d also like to encourage Parents out there to go beyond being a spectator in their Kids’ activities. Get some!

In this episode, we will explore the concept of flow and how it can appear for Skateboarders. Flow is the ability to move freely from one experience to the next and lends itself over to enjoyable moments both on-board and off-board.

Through flow we can learn to surrender and be present in each moment and through flow experienced in Skateboarding, we can learn to apply this to everyday life and thrive.

In this episode, we will explore some of the things that I’ve learnt to appreciate in my journey as OOK, from a cultural point of view as well as a bigger-picture perspective in the areas of life and purpose.

Skateboarding is so unique because of the way that we can share the space with so many different people from all different walks of life. It is the individuality found in Skateboarding that can empower us to roll through in full expression of ourselves, through the tough times and tough people that can challenge our day-to-day functioning in physical, mental, emotional and spiritual capacities.

Some great food for thought for Skaters in this episode that I hope you’ll take away with reflection on your own life and where you want to head on your path.

In this episode, we will explore some of the things that you can do to support you in dealing with injury and enjoying the recovery process.

The intentions behind every decision, thought, intention and action can be very powerful influences in the way that you bounce back from injury.

I know it’s tempting to treat injury-caused time away from Skating as time to party and stay on a bender, but your time off-board can be very valuable time to grow in other ways.

I’ll be sharing some insights into my own journey through injury management and recovery, as well as the gift of silence, stillness and visualisation.

In this episode, we will explore some of the highlighting themes from my experience as a Skateboard Videographer. 

Learn about some of the highs of filming with your mates and the kinds of experiences that this can offer.

I would highly recommend filming as a way to document and make history with your skateboarding for you and your friends.

Skateboarders worldwide are amazing people on-board and off-board and through this show, we would like to explore and learn more about Skateboarders and the stories that they have to share.
