It's always bittersweet when football season comes to an end but there's light at the end of the tunnel as Chris gave us a list of films he's ready to come back and talk about. Can a movie be both a classic and a bad movie? Can it be entertaining and bad simultaneously? In the case of this episode's film Purple Rain we think the answer to both of those questions is yes. Before he was winning Oscars he made a small Black and White film for about $175,000. He turned a little bit of a profit and now we have a world of films, thank goodness. In 2007 Eddie Murphy was on top of the world. His role in Dreamgirls had garnered him critical acclaim and he was nominated for an Academy Award as James "Thunder" Early and then....he released the film we discuss tonight. The critics hated it. It offends literally EVERYONE...but...it's actually VERY FUNNY. We have a pretty good, nuanced discussion about Eddie's 14th film to open number 1 at the box office. The acting performances are stellar and the story is literally rooted in life altering and timely material.
